Great video review mate... Watching this in November 2020 and very strange times we're living in! The Victory seems an awesome bit of kit and a read in one of your replies below that you'd recommend a smaller scope with high enough mounts to make clearance for the rotating mag. Good tips all round... Cheers from South Wales
Thanks Jerry. It would depend on the condition of the seals in your rifle. However if you are not planning on shooting it again within a few days, I would always remove the CO2 Power-let anyway. The 12 gram Power-lets are not that pricey. Certainly not as pricey as replacing the seals!!
Hi, many thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I was using a Hawke fast mount 4-9x40 ao. It might have been a 3-9! I don’t have the scope anymore! The mounts are the ones that came with the scope. The fast mount is an ideal budget scope for this. Hope this helps.
Nice one m8, me and my boy's plink about with CO2s, PCPs and old fashioned Webley juniors and the like, this is an interesting new kind of thing, although I do have a Crossman 1322 with customized stock, so accurate out to 25yds, stocks on pistols, love them. Got an Alecto, I can not find a stock for it, now there is an accurate pistol. At this price, say no more. Chinese guns are definitely improving, still got my sons SMK boys rifle, 177 cost 50 sovs, hit a bottletop at 20yds still after thousands of shots.
The Alecto is a great pistol. Don’t know about a stock. The SMK springers are definitely better, especially the higher end stuff. There are some pretty good Turkish PCP’s out now as well. Thanks for the feed back back mate. All the best
Here on the other side of the pond it is called the Diana Chaser. I own the pistol version with an after market reflex sight. For a gun of its price it is well made, much better than the stock Crosman 2240 with the plastic breach. The Diana Storm Rider magazines are garbage, though.
They are sold in both the pistol and pistol/rifle conversions here. I bought the .22 pistol version because CO2s are relatively weak for rifles. Then again, airguns are not regulated here like they are in Britain. I can buy an Air Force .50 (1150 fps) through the mail here in Colorado and I need no permit to possess it. I just can't afford one and to me the logistics of carrying a PCP isn't worth it. My rifle is .22 cal Ruger Impact Max Elite. Yes, not the best (the trigger pull is horrendous) but spitting out a lead pellet at around 900 fps is a lot better than one spitting out a .22 pellet out at about 600 FPS (USA. The Chaser pistol is for punching holes in paper and tin cans. The Ruger (Umarex) is for small game. Maybe the Chaser Rifle could be used for dispatching a wounded animal at close range but beyond 15 yards it is nearly useless.
You can put almost any scope on it. the main thing you need 11mm scope mounts. Make sure they are high enough so that the saddle of the scope does not interfere with the magazine or single shot loading. I would advise finding a smallish scope. The one I used was a Hawke fastmount 3-9x40ao. New it costs around £70. It is probably a little bit of overkill but I like the scope and used it on my springer as well
Definitely check it on a chronograph. It would be a shame to butcher a legal limit pistol just on the off chance it might be one of the few that tip over the limit with a specific pellet.
I have a .22 and I have had no issues. If you are worried about it though and think the .177 might be better, go with that. You need to be happy with your purchase at the end of the day!
I happen to own both a .177 Victory and a .22 Diana Chaser (same gun, different brand name), BOTH are pretty good and I haven't had any issues with pellets jamming in the gun, but their magazines can be fussy about pellets; The .22 Diana is fairly new to me, but I haven't had any jamming issues either through magazine or single shot. The same can't be said about .177 marksman pellets in the victory. They work fine in the single shot tray, but they repeatedly jammed the magazines solid and the hassle of clearing them from the magazine mean they will only ever be used in the single shot tray, while the BSA Storm pellets I use work in any firing method. Now, this is a word of advice for ALL users: do NOT re-cock your gun if you've used a magazine to load a pellet, you can easily load multiple pellets in the barrel and that WILL cause a nasty jam. (I know because I did this by accident and clearing the barrel was not a fun experience)
Hi Andy, standard 11mm dovetail. Looking back at the video I think they were medium mounts. I have sold the scope and put a red dot on it. However I am going to change back over to a scope if i can find a decent second hand one. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.
