  • This is a tutorial on how to swap out an IAC valve in your 1991 Chevy C1500 pickup. This motor is the 5.7 V8. I am not an expert, I’m a semi professional amateur learning as I go. I hope I can help!

    Dear colleagues; disconnecting the battery before any repair on a sensor is advisable in order to reboot the computers of any car.

      What’s happens if you don’t disconnect the battery, because unfortunately I didn’t and the truck keeps shutting down??

      You can still try and disconnect the battery.
      Connect the 2 battery connectors together for a couple of minutes in order to reboot the car computer.
      Reconnect the battery.
      If this do not work it is possible that the sensor got defective due to installing it without disconnecting the battery.

    • @gamesonly4171
      @gamesonly4171 2 месяца назад

      You have to reboot the car computer otherwise the car will not detect the new sensor.
      Normally this is done with the car scanner but if you don't have a scanner this is the only option.

    My 94 C1500 had random rpm surges when idling. Replaced fuel filter, a vaccum line, and ran Seafoam through the gas tank in case it was the injectors. Still happens. Was going to clean the MAF until I realized....theres no MAF🤦‍♂️. Anyone think that cleaning or replacing the IAC will fix it? Its not a huge issue, just annoying that half the time I stop at a red light, someone thinks I'm trying to race

      Sounds like a base gasket vacuum leak. Replace the gasket. Common problem. Can also be a vacuum leak elsewhere, but that sounds like a base gasket issue.

    So I've replaced my map sensor, rebuilt the throttle body, replaced the IAC that you replaced in this cid, also did the injectors and fuel filter, new pcv. The vacuum lines are good and the motor has been rebuilt. I honestly don't know why it wants to still stall or have a decent idle until a stop light. It runs great but it doesn't. Maybe fuel delivery /pressure . Fuel pump may be weak, more likely a clogged fuel filter. Start there, then fuel pressure regulator , clogged injectors.
      Maybe a stuck open EGR valve, or even a coolant temp sensor .

      Mine would die when I turn the steering wheel when I’m parked or do a turn to park/go into my driveway and I hear it idle down than normally and it shuts off mid turn and sometimes at a stop sign or light when I do a complete stop. Doesn’t shut off all the time, just sometimes. Still looking for a fix. When I leave the wheel straight without touching it, it idles where it’s supposed to be at.
