      Exactly, he doesn't need a gimmick to win. The fact this guy got hit on the helmet or was forced to block with the gauntlet says alot about his fighting skill. If he didn't have it he would have died.
      Needed, that hidden short blade too, to kill the padawan that was pressing him.

    • @daruphir
      @daruphir Месяц назад +1

      Cortosis is too soft for that type of battle alone, you would need to weave it into another material to make it structurally rigid enough while maintaining the flexibility that a rapier is needed to have.
      Going with in universe materials, to blend Cortosis I would probably mix Songsteel, like Beskar it's saber resistant but a great deal lighter in weight than Beskar, and takes annealing and other metallurgic coloring processes better than Beskar appears to (we've only seen it painted not treated chemically)

  • @goatkiller666
    @goatkiller666 Месяц назад

    In Mandolin Season 2, when Din defended himself from Asokha, he used his forearm bracers for defense, and the jet pack, flame thrower, and rope thing. When Satine was ruling the Mandalorians, it would have been easier (though not EASY) for any Jedi in the war to get such a set of bracers. Blocked blasters like Wonder Woman, and still have a light saber. Stun guns built in, maybe even a small this blaster, like a pistol. Store the lightsaber there, instead of hanging it on your belt. Life sign trackers, with some kind of distress beacon.
    The Jedi are like Starfleet. “Oh, we don’t make warships, we’re peaceful.” Except the Klingon war, the Borg war, and the Dominion. Just because you don’t want to be on a war footing, doesn’t mean you aren’t. And the way to save more lives in a war is to win it very very quickly. Intentionally limiting your own abilities isn’t honorable, it’s just more collateral damage and death so you can pat yourself on the back for not being a heartless killer. That’s vanity, not honor.

    I enjoy your videos but let's be real. What you are trying to do in this video is spin canon to make it make sense. The real reason (the one everybody knows) is that Cortosis wasn't "thought" of or "created" until decades after the Original Trilogy. It wasn't in the mind of Lucas when he created Darth Vader. I appreciate you trying to find a narrative that fits but let's all come back down to Earth for just a minute and understand that all of this is a retcon. You are retconning the Original Trilogy to make a good story. I don't have a problem with retconning becasue the story is always more important. Also, I'm used to George retconning left, right and center in every movie he made after the first one. Most importantly I just wanted to point out to all the angry fans who hate retcons and care more about canon than a good story. You sir, care about a good story, and you will retcon to make one. That's the point. The fandom needs to chillout and enjoy the galaxy far, far away (like you do). Anyways. Good luck with your channel, cheers!

    • @joshuacollins9316
      @joshuacollins9316 2 месяца назад +3

      A new element being added to a story isn’t a ret-con. It’s only a ret-con if it conflicts with previously stated cannon.
      Cortosis existing does not conflict with the training for why palps made vaders suit the way he did, and why he didn’t ever upgrade it. Those facts were established later in cannon and did not conflict with the movies either.
      By your logic anything added into a franchise or universe later on would technically be a retcon, and this is not the case.
      Yes ofc cortosis was not in the OT, but it being added on is not a ret-con, it does not conflict with how we know his suit was made, or why he never upgraded it, it’s just an addition to the lore.

    • @ichigen511
      @ichigen511 2 месяца назад +3

      @@joshuacollins9316 I feel like you just jumped through some Olympic sized hoops in your head to make sense of adding new story beats to an existing story. If that's not a retcon you and I will have to agree to disagree. The point of my post was to say that story is more important than canon. But that's just somethinig George and I agree on that the fandom simply can't wrap their heads around.

    • @joshuacollins9316
      @joshuacollins9316 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ninetiesrelic2975 so by that logic and “facts” that you are stating, only the original movie “A New Hope” is part of the original source material?
      Or wait is it the full OT right? Oh but wait the holiday special came out around that time too so better through that in there. And oh yeah there were also some books written so all of that must be the original source as well.
      Or wait am I getting it wrong and it’s just a New Hope? So Yoda is a retcon, oh and Boba Fett, dang Jaba the Hutt too. WOW that’s a lot.
      Retcon Definition-Google : (in a film, television series, or other fictional work) a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency.
      Things that drastically change the story or force you to Interpret it in a diff way are retcons, “like palps arriving after episode 6”, but small things like adding cortosis as a new type of metal that existed when Vader made his suit is not. It is simply and added story element that can be used to speculate on how it integrates with the cannon we already have. It does not impose (or force) a new Interpretation of events. Because it does not change how his suit was made, and why it was made the way it was.

    • @joshuacollins9316
      @joshuacollins9316 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ninetiesrelic2975 also yes when things are added by the owners of a franchise/IP to the cannon they are automatically a part of the world.
      Disney owns the SW IP, so they get to dictate what cannon is. And whether or not people may see it that way, that’s how it works. In the same way that DC gets to dictate what’s cannon to the current Justice League comics, or James Cameron does with Avatar.
      Whoever owns/creates the franchise gets to decided cannon, not the fans.
