Because of Rian Johnson, the closest I've come to Disney Star Wars has been the hate reviews.
Now they're blaming channels like Critical Drinker for poor ticket sales, which might be true, but only after they got it right on crappy movies I watched and hated, while all the MSM and "critics" loved them. Once the Fandom Menace got it right, time after time, I trust them. I might miss something good, but I really doubt it.
Now, I find the Fandom Menace to be more entertaining than anything Disney.

The writers were trying to create a story that made the Jedi look evil. When virtually everything they did was justified. Than their actions post event, make no sense. They are beyond the worst writers i've seen from a studio. Or there was editing/reshoots going on. That cut things out. Because they knew they crossed a line so far. There be no one left who would like SW at all. Nothing was setup for any characters justification. And episode 3 directly lies to the audience. With tons of continuity errors. When we see episode 7. Example: In episode 3. Osha is going through a tunnel. Where she looks up through a grate. She hears the Witches scream, bright light flash, and an explosion. ALL the Witches are dead. Before the reactor blows up. They blatantly lied. The Witches when they where controlling the Wookie. Were in a room, on stairs. In episode 3, their bodies are in a room with no stairs.
Also, the explosion would have crushed their bodies. And burned the remains. So, what? Someone moved the bodies to this location. Not possible. And Sol walked passed them. Second, Mae this whole time acted like she didn't know what happened. SHE WAS PRESENT. When everything happened. She's not 4 years old. Were she has no memories. But they played her characters as: I don't know. It's like she's Goofy in an episode of Goof Troop. Either someone has the power to alter the memories of 7 characters. Across the Galaxy. Or the writers are GARBAGE.

@Mr.E_Bodhako At least TLJ could be called "good." It was serviceable in the areas of visuals and sound... just not when it comes to it's handling of the IP (which is debatable. I don't think we were completely lost at that point and could have recovered in the next movie... though that didn't happen).
From what I've heard of the Acolyte, it sounds like a nonsensical waste of 180 million.

TLJ did not have good pacing, stop.
They are both bad in different ways, TLJ was bad but it was so messed up already by switching directors, not writing an outline, etc..
While the acolyte is about the most distilled bad writing I have ever seen..
wanted to make a story that showed the Jedi as bad guys and failed miserably.. you have to be in a cult yourself to justify almost anything the witches did, and lack basic reasoning if you think anything the Jedi did was not logical in the situation..
Crazy how few lines you need to add to line up people's actions to the story the director wanted to tell, but just never wrote those lines..
Also every male Jedi is over emotional and a borderline imbecile while only female jedis have the competency actually solve problems and end conflicts..
I'm not mad at this but it makes bland basic ass predictable characters.

Then they could have introduced Luke's child or Han's and Leia or both for that matter as the protagonists.
Luke could have gone out protecting the Academy and saving the lives of the entire Academy and gone out as a hero.
Instead they destroyed a beloved character, one who had enough hope to try and successfully turn his father away from the dark side, and turned him into a hermit that turned his back on everyone and abandoned his friends... and tried to kill a padawan because of a dream. It would even work with what Disney's crapped out. You could make Rey and Kylo cousins; say, Rey is Leia's daughter with Han, and Kylo is Luke's son with Mara. They were in the temple, training, as toddlers. Jedi preschool. Luke was out on a mission, checking out rumors of a new evil rising in the galaxy, remnants of Imperial fleets coming together, generals turned warlords after the fall bowing down to a new leader.
The temple gets attacked by the FO, taking out the Jedi, their biggest threat. Kylo is kidnapped to be trained in the dark side. Rey escaped on the last transport out with a nanny. Luke thinks they're both dead, that's why he becomes a recluse, he failed to protect them, and to protect the Jedi. That's why Han is out in space running around, he thinks his child is still alive, that's why Leia isn't with him, she thinks he's nuts.
That's why Rey could use the force on such a high level without being trained, she's been trained, as a child. That's why she can fly the Millennium Falcon, she grew up on that ship. Rey and Kylo's personal connection is strong, because they're family, and they trained in the academy as toddlers. Rey's "family" isn't really family, they're adoptive. The nanny gave them money, told them to keep her hidden, and left to inform her real parents. Didn't make it. That's why she's stuck on some backwater planet.
..or something like that. I could fix it.

It all sounds so unbelievably terrible, you wonder how anyone could write something that bad. That stupid and then get it made and made so badly. Its gone beyond incompetence into parody and on into the weeds now. Forty years ago this would never have got past the scripting stage etc once a higher up read it and saw how terrible it was. Thirty years ago if this had somehow managed to go out it would have been torn to shreds by all reviewers and audience and probably been pulled after a few episodes. And all involved would have been sacked and never work in the industry again, along with an apology to those who watched it. In 2024 its the audiences fault and everyone is just wrong, and this is a perfect show, just all all the other perfect shows they make, that are that dire no one watches....

It propably would be even worse if it did what it wanted to do, because it would make even less sense (which is hard to believe considering how little sense this show makes, but you would have even more lore issues in that case)

The empire only knew it was droids after the officer reported the escape pod to Vader and they went down to investigate the pod. He's guiding Mae on her revenge tour - to take revenge for things that she did, herself, mind - and he's still a very powerful character formed out of literally nowhere. For the whole plot it would have made more sense if the jedi had discovered the space witch base first, went there first to investigate if they know how that planet has life again and then using that area as a base of operation, while they investigate the planet.
The witches then try to hide their use of the "thread" and the kids from the Jedi, their suspicious behaviour would have been a reason for the Jedi to investigate the witches.
The kids being locked up so that jedi don't find them and them not really understanding why they are locked up, could have created the basis for a misunderstanding. Causing the Jedi to think the kids are in danger. Causing a conflict between the Jedi and the witches.
That would have been a better set up for this situation. It would have made more sense for the Jedi feeling guilty, if they caused them to die only to discover afterwards that it was just a misunderstanding. It would make sense for May to be angry towards the Jedi. It would make more sense for her assertions that Jedi do attack others first.
It might be a bit harder to not give Osha a reason to be angry, maybe go with her getting injured and having amnesia or something.
You could even create a situation where the Jedi never discover that there are twins, only ever seeing one of them, explaining why they didn't look for May when everything goes to shit.

Geez the gargantuan HUBRIS of this lady. She should’ve asked KK to let someone with real talent and more experience develop her idea, eliminate weak points, build up complexity and depth. Y’know, like maybe Tony Gilroy?

In Star Trek TOS’ “Shore Leave” Sulu tells McCoy (who ought to know) “With a soil sample, a flower, a blade of grass,… we can determine the entire planet’s biology and chemical basis.” One. Frigging. I would be more interested in the process the Jedi use to calculate where a vergence would be at than the answers to a weak and crippled mystery that this episode provided. There's so much you could dive into for an era where Jedi are flourishing, but it's just wasted. Why not spend a chunk of an episode making it feel like the Jedi were there to do a job and do it well, instead of recycle parts of episode 3? Make the act of discovering the witches a part of their collective job and not just Sol being snoopy? That would get the jedi invested in a good way, showing they can accomplish tasks and making it relevant to the plot.
I mean, you could also throw in a line about how the orbital scanning is muddy because of the unique celestial mechanics (perhaps tying into their force ritual and allowing details to serve multiple purposes???) of the star system or something, so that way the failure to locate the witches sooner has more plausibility.
      ugh
