It'll be interesting to see how this movie performs going forward. Will people like me, who never read the comic books and haven't seen Marvel movies and TV shows, go to the theaters to see this film? The feedback I've received from the fans is that you need to be familiar with the X-Men movies, the Logan movie, and the Loki TV show to appreciate D&W. Based on that, I won't be shelling out close to $15 to see this on the big screen. Maybe the word of mouth will drive up ticket sales...

Good filmmakers won’t try to “make the movie that saves the MCU,” they’ll just try to make a good movie that entertains the audience. If they do that, the MCU will be just fine. I feel like that’s what Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy and Reese & Wernick were trying to do, and I had a hell of a lot of fun.
We got on my nerves, is the fact that several great ideas for movies could’ve happened, but back in the 2000s and 90s they were rejected simply because either being too expensive, or the simple fact that it didn’t connect with any other Marvel movies. I really wish they’d make those movies, considering that they sound far better than what the MCU has given us in recent years.

This is exactly what he wanted to do with X-Men, but after X-Men Origins: Wolverine shit the bed, he was given the boot. None of the reasons you cited are the reason Gambit didn't get made. Gambit didn't get made because New Mutants & Dark Phoenix bombed, and bombed FUCKING HARD. Dark Phoenix alone cost Fox about $133 million in losses when marketing is included. It barely made its production budget back in worldwide grosses. New Mutants didn't even accomplish that basic feat, pulling in $49.2 million against a production budget somewhere between $67-80 million. Probably looking at a loss north of $50 million with marketing. Meanwhile, Deadpool & Deadpool 2 each grossed over $750 million, a number that by all accounts Deadpool & Wolverine will likely surpass. The first two Deadpool films had a COMBINED budget of around $150 million, and Logan, which grossed $619.2 million, had a budget of $97 million, less than the first X-Men movie when accounting for inflation. Deadpool is the lowest-budget film in the franchise...it cost $58 million to produce, a fraction of what the first X-Men cost, adjusted. These movies were made extremely cheaply. How expensive the films were wasn't the issue. It's how much money they were bringing in. And Wolverine & Deadpool were the only characters putting asses in seats.
Good Filmmakers? They still make those? They had to share the greatest visions with the least resources. They suffered for their craft. Now? Ryan Reynolds really doesn't know anything about Deadpool. Almost every single character in all 3 Deadpool movies are nothing like the comics including Deadpool himself. If you were a REAL Deadpool fan you would know.
He gets so hung up on story and doesn't seem to care about anything else. I mean, I will take a basic or choppy plotline if I love the characters and it gives me cool scenes.

With Deadpool 3, the movie is relatively good for the first 40 minutes or so, but once they escape Cassandra Nova and start wandering through The Void, it feels super uninspired in general, just like most Disney+ shows do. And just like those, this third Deadpool feels really undercooked. They had good cameos in their hands and yet most of them felt like a wasted opportunity (except for Evans and, partially, Tatum, IMO). It's such a pity...
Remember the interview early on about joining the Avenger’s? He felt lost and like he didn’t matter, and he really needed to do something big to fix that feeling. By the end he realized he mattered to his close friends, and that’s enough. Am I the only one that took that message away from the movie? You don’t have to do something big like saving the entire world to matter, because you matter to the people around you.

"Oh you idiot, they said that but they still did it" Yes, AND THE SOLUTION WAS THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP! YOU MORON! Just saying they make fun of the thing and then they do the thing ISN'T CLEVER! That's a grievous oversimplification. The lesson here is Deadpool isn't saving the world, he isn't saving the universe, the multiverse, he wants to save HIS FRIENDS. The people in this little picture, THAT'S his whole world. In his last two movies he's not saving the world, he's nobody, he's nothing, he doesn't deserve to stand by the AVENGERS! But the entire movie is about how you can have compelling stories WITHOUT making the stakes EVERYTHING. The final battle is this epic brawl between Deadpool and Wolverine and an army of Deadpools from the multiverse! And after the fight they all just stand back up cause they can heal and also it's the multiverse, so there's just an endless number of them so it doesn't matter. Personal stories are what actually matter, not just the biggest stakes possible to make. A good amount of the movie is spent mocking the TVA, one of the dumbest creations of the MCU, and what Mauler is COMPLAINING that he's making them look retarded? THEY ARE RETARDED MAULER! The plot has some serious holes. But to be positive and this isn't a spoiler because it was in the final trailer. When Laura and Logan meet up at the camp fire. It was a great plot point that this Logan has been hearing about how great the other one was, and to have Laura say he really wasn't much different from you, he just showed up when he was needed most. It makes sense from the story standpoint that that moment would be the catalyst that gives this defeated Logan the motivation to be a hero.
Yep. I can forgive the movie for having holes and contradictions, because its not trying to be serious cinema. It just wants to entertain and have fun.
See, this was my biggest issue. I never saw Logan and even I thought she needed to be more in the film and there needed to be more moments with them two in order to show some harder character growth. I felt like character motivations were just non existent, especially with the villains.

On the upside if Deadpool got his final wish, that means Laura has been returned to his timeline. Well, that depends. I probably would have to rewatch it again to see which actor had more screen time. Granted screen time doesn’t matter and most movies like this. But if it’s a buddy movie, both two lead characters need to have equal screen time. And I can’t tell you how many movies I’ve seen like this where one actor had more focused than the other when it should’ve been about both of them.
I absolutely thought that Wolverine/Jackman was the better part of the movie. Sure Reynolds was comedic and some of the 4th wall breaking was funny and I'm grateful that he pushed this through and got it made, especially with the current marvel regime but I keep thinking throughout that I would have preferred this to be a more serious, more wolverine focused film. Overall I did enjoy it and its 100 x better than anything marvel has done since endgame (guardians 3 included imo) but it would have been better with 50% less of deadpools tired jokes.
Tonally, it's a Deadpool movie. But in terms of character progression, it's more of a Wolverine movie. But Deadpool had good character development too.
This movie didn't care about plot, it was all about making a fun movie with actors who are actually good and can work together. Plus even in the comics , Deadpool is all over the place doing crazy shit that doesn't make sense most of the time. So for me this was a breath of fresh air in comic movies and movies in general.
What you guys think was ‘pandering’ was ‘paying tribute’ to some of us who have been comic book fans for years. I didn’t know about any of the cameos, so I didn’t watch to see those. For me, it was giving me acknowledgement that Ryan Reynolds listens to his fans and respects them. Also, putting those actors in the film cost time and money, but that didn’t matter to Ryan, who understands his fan base. He wanted to give us a fun, heartfelt movie and I feel that he did just that.

This movie was a buddy cop movie written as a send-off/love letter of an era non-MCU films and as Snarkjay said executed as rollercoaster. I've loved Deadpool movies and the comics (Cable & Deadpool my favorite) and just wanted to go see the movie a second time immediately. They did make fun of the woke message early in the film where Wade tells some guy at the part "that is what I think about *insert every political topic*" with the guy wanting to reply and telling him no.

As a long time Marvel comics fan, as well as someone who grew up during this earlier era of Marvel character's films like Blade, Fox X-Men, etc this movie was a fantastic closing note. It was never meant to be a movie to appeal to everyone - it was a movie made for the fans.
SPOILERS: two of the funniest parts of the movie were the reactions to two moments:' 1. Chris Evans taking his hood OFF made all the ladies in the audience shriek 2. Wolverine putting his mask ON made all the men in the audience shriek I thought that was really, really funny. And it probably got exactly the reactions the writers were hoping for.

As a person who doesn't give a flying ducks about comic books and someone who went to cinema maybe 6 times in the last 10 years and only remember two titles, I must say this movie was a breath of fresh air. The monologue in the car was probably the best delivery in the last 20 years :) the fight was just a cherry on top.

It was just nice to see a film created by people who clearly love the characters, get the source material, and most importantly know what the audience wants and has the respect to give them what they wanted. It was heartfelt in its appreciation for the characters and the past. Something that seems lost in so many properties where they want to crap over the past.
The anchor being thing was a meta concept, I heard. That being is actually the leading role in a show or franchise, and when they die(show cancelled or leading actor moving out), their universe just fade away, because no one want to run it anymore.
Yeah. Like, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish did a dog character far better than an R-rated movie. And that’s saying something since it shouldn’t be hard to make a dog character work. Heck, The Mask which everybody has always compared to Deadpool today even did a dog character perfectly.
Too much was going on that scene. I kept on trying to focus on Deadpool Prime, which meant I completely missed what Wolverine was up to, let alone which Deadpool variants were being fought.

It's just that there aren't many good movies being made anymore, we're lucky if we get 1 or 2 good movies a year, compare that with the amount of good movies produced per year in the 80s,90s and early aughts. Most of the time he's 100% right in the things deserving of hate. You don't have to agree with his overall take of the movie 100% of the time, and if you think about Mauler's arguments as to why this movie was bad, you can't really say he's wrong. I can appreciate the points he makes and still enjoy the movie. This movie was far from perfect, but it had enough things in it that fans of the comics always wanted to see on the big screen(ie Wolverine getting bloody with his claws, Wolvie in the X-men suit, etc) that you can overlook, and ignore some of the things that don't work. It's the difference between subjectively and objectively. You have to admit the plot/story of this is very weak, but the action, the jokes(when they land, not all do), the fun these actors are having while making it is palpable, and entertaining. And the last point, Do you think that maybe the only jealousy here is that which you are perhaps projecting?

I don't understand what mauler is on about. How are the characters dead? Deadpool is a 4th wall breaking deconstruction that is taking the piss. What movie did he expect to see? Characters? Cliche? Fucking super hero landing, what is he on about? It's supposed to be gratuitous and cliche. Motivations? The scene where deadpool is trying to convince "the others" by trying to manufacture motivations why they should help, with wolverine laughing in the background literally makes fun of motivations and atomizes the 4th wall by having the actors state their own motivations for playing in the movie instead (guess thats why he said it was sad). After all, there is only one blade but plenty pompous critics. Personally i think it took guts. Or maybe arrogance? Either way i love it!
Question for Mauler: what is the “control group” film that he holds as the standard? He’s entitled to his opinions of course, but I wonder, what is he looking for in this kind of movie? *For the record, Deadpool 1 and 2 have some of the same flaws, not to mention other issues, so I can’t imagine those are the 10/10 standards to compare against. To back up my positive view of D&W, the beginning of it set up the tone really well. And the main scenes, character moments, and action sequences, were really fun. The jokes landed a lot, and while not very deep, it’s primarily a comedy so having serious themes or character arcs isn’t quite as critical in terms of achieving its goals. That said, it did have some character arcs and larger themes (as surface level as they were…) Also, the special effects and music/audio effects (and there were a lot of them) did their part to help support the story. Maybe it was Roger Ebert that said this, but movies must be judged in the context of their genre. D&W is an action comedy aimed at adults - and I’d say in that genre, it’s a solid 8/10, well worth going to the theatre to see, especially for all of the millions of super hero movie fans.

The entire movie is MOCKING Disney's method of making MCU movies! I've yet to hear ONE fucking criticism of the actual movie that's not "Well it just sucks cause, I say so." Name ONE proper plot hole. Name ONE genuine flaw that needs to be FIXED for the story to work. I'll tell you right now, the holes are PART of the story. Cause this movie is built on the MCU, which is ALL pieces at this point. So you're bitching that a movie based on a dead cinematic universe doesn't take that cinematic universe seriously enough and isn't doing deep explorations of the themes and characters and lore, and is instead picking up the pieces, throwing confetti into the air and going "Let's just have some fucking fun, right guys?"
12:03 The main villain of the movie felt like a direct critic to the MSheU. She was like a way more powerfull version of her male counterpart and she ended up in the dumpster exactly because the fans would have hated her whole concept as a villain in her own series.
I looked her up, and Cassandra Nova in the comics does have all the powers. But you're right though, a stupidly overpowered and nigh unstoppable genderbent version of a beloved character does sound like something the MSheU would throw in just to stick it to the fans for liking something.
She was introduced in the comica before most of the movies in the fox era came out. She is a legit character and she's more powerful because she can bring our Xaviers potential without holding back

They make him and Vanessa break up for nothing after everything they went through(they Sort of come back in the end, but still). That's bad. In 2 DP can time-dimensiontism travel better than the TVA, he could just go back to before Wolverine dies. So on and so on.

this is 100% not my experience. Yes the movie plot was lame, however, that in part was I think planned to further stk a knife in all the multiverse crap. Everyone at the theater was laughing and hollering and having a blast where I was, BEST movie Ive seen in a long time, purely for the spectacle and nostalgia.
Tired of hearing about Wrexham and Seeing Ryan's face everywhere. I stopped watching movies and TV shows except for the amazing race which is a guilty pleasure. I watch soccer and root for Manchester City. Tottenham looked decent under Post last season, hopefully they can finish top 4 for your sake.

I'm surprised the 2000s is the forgotten era. Imo that's undeniably the best era of superhero movies. The Raimi trilogy, the Singer trilogy, the beginning of the MCU, etc. Imo this is the forgotten era. Most superhero films today have been forgotten.
Isn't it so interesting that such old or arguably obscure cameos bring up such joy just to see them in action and in character for a little while? I feel like I want full movies for most of the major players that came back. I may never get them, but these forgotten characters have more love behind just one of them than the entirety of Phase 4/5.

Don't waste your money It's not in IMAX format. The plot and music isn't that great. The cameos are meh...what a waste. 3D effects weren't spectacular like in Doctor Strange or Infinity War. It's another Thor: Love and Thunder except for the Like A Prayer fight scene...that was enjoyable

Well, I’m waiting for someone to pull “Deadpool Kills the Marvel Cinematic Universe” movie out of their pocket as a failsafe. It would be a hard reset of EVERYTHING movie related.
And this is why i dont watch Mauler. I finally saw a good Marvel movie after so many years, and he hates it. I respect his criticism, but im plugging my ears, and im just going to go on enjoying it.

Part of the problem is that the cameos are cameos rather than characters. They dont really play a part, its just "look its..." followed by, "and there they go".
I kinda disagree man. Most cameos are like drive-by’s. “Hey look who it is!” shooting star type scenes where the actor cameoing is LITERALLY there one second and gone the other. Think Stan Lee’s cameos. Here, every single character cameo’d got to play at least a mini role. They were on screen for multiple minutes and had more than one sentence of dialogue.

I mean the movie has a lot of very obvious glaring plot holes. The whole concept of anchor beings alone is pretty stupid from an in universe stand point. Just one guy dying destroys the whole universe? That opens the door to so many other problems if you start thinking about it. But I still had a blast with the movie. The movie was full of energy the opening was ridiculously fun and you could tell they all had a ton of fun making it. Personally I thought the whole concept of anchor beings was an interesting commentary on how a lot of these big movie franchises seem to depend on one character for their success. It's deadpool after all. Breaking the 4th wall and talking to the audience is kind of his thing. Hugh Jackman as wolverine was the main reason the x men movies went on as long as they did. Once he retired from the role after Logan the fox universe slowly withered away. You could argue that Thanos and Iron man were anchor beings to the mcu. They died in endgame and the mcu is slowly starting to fail and wither away. They had to bring back RDJ in an increasingly desperate move to win back a little bit of the relevance they used to have.
I loved the violence except one part really bothered me. When X-23 is flying at Juggernaut about to cut his head off it cuts to the next scene right when she's about to do it.
I feel like the rating drop forced some real harsh cuts like that. I'm anticipating an unrated version like we got with Deadpool 2 (which really did improve the movie). Hopefully an extended/uncut version can plug some of the more glaring holes. Although it already was over long I thought so...?
@@mikenelson8715 I think ratings are different outside of the US. Where we get Rated R and Rated M for Mature, they get something called PEGI and a number rating. It's why I was confused when they kept saying the rating was 15 for the movie.
I thought it was more of a callback to Logan when she walked out with the reavers head and bowled it towards the bad guys. You don't see it, and you don't need to, you just marvel at how brutal the kid is.

I think the cameos were genuinely perfect. They’re all from canceled non canon universes and paying homage to them for the last time instead of focusing on lame unestablished cameos like Marvel does was actually perfect

The MCU is beyond saving unless they use the Dr. Doom avengers movie as an opportunity to kill off all the "new avengers" (nothing would satisfy me more than seeing RDJ kill off the bastardized characters that ruined the franchise he kicked off), and secret wars as a way to recast some of the original cast of heroes people liked with a new set of actors and basically start over, destroying the multiverse in the process. It won't happen, but hey, if they can still make an entertaining movie every few years good for them.
Suoerb Video. Agree 100% with Mauler. Found the fighting between two immortal characters to just be a waste of time. No consequences for being stabbed and shot countless times… so fucking stupid. At the beginning of the story, why do vulnerable mortal agents for Paradox continue to try and fight Deadpool. He winds up walking through all their dead bodies at the end. Why don’t a few of them say during the fight, “FUCK THIS…I AM OUT OF HERE!!!” Hated Pirates of The Caribbean Black Pearl for the same reason.
Weakest of the Deadpool movies. The story premise was really dumb, and the TVA (whatever they are) were bad enough in Loki. BUT...watching the scenes with Deadpool, Wolverine, and certain cameos (the first one they met with the full blue suit had me dying), made the movie fun to watch and I laughed a lot. But unlike the first two Deadpools, I don't think I'm interested in seeing this one again.

The feedback I've received from the fans is that you need to be familiar with the X-Men movies, the Logan movie, and the Loki TV show to appreciate D&W. Based on that, I won't be shelling out close to $15 to see this on the big screen. Maybe the word of mouth will drive up ticket sales...

Good filmmakers won’t try to “make the movie that saves the MCU,” they’ll just try to make a good movie that entertains the audience. If they do that, the MCU will be just fine. I feel like that’s what Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy and Reese & Wernick were trying to do, and I had a hell of a lot of fun.
We got on my nerves, is the fact that several great ideas for movies could’ve happened, but back in the 2000s and 90s they were rejected simply because either being too expensive, or the simple fact that it didn’t connect with any other Marvel movies. I really wish they’d make those movies, considering that they sound far better than what the MCU has given us in recent years.

The guy behind that is Tom Rothman. He used to run Fox. This is exactly what he wanted to do with X-Men, but after X-Men Origins: Wolverine shit the bed, he was given the boot.
None of the reasons you cited are the reason Gambit didn't get made. Gambit didn't get made because New Mutants & Dark Phoenix bombed, and bombed FUCKING HARD. Dark Phoenix alone cost Fox about $133 million in losses when marketing is included. It barely made its production budget back in worldwide grosses. New Mutants didn't even accomplish that basic feat, pulling in $49.2 million against a production budget somewhere between $67-80 million. Probably looking at a loss north of $50 million with marketing.
Meanwhile, Deadpool & Deadpool 2 each grossed over $750 million, a number that by all accounts Deadpool & Wolverine will likely surpass. The first two Deadpool films had a COMBINED budget of around $150 million, and Logan, which grossed $619.2 million, had a budget of $97 million, less than the first X-Men movie when accounting for inflation. Deadpool is the lowest-budget film in the franchise...it cost $58 million to produce, a fraction of what the first X-Men cost, adjusted. These movies were made extremely cheaply. How expensive the films were wasn't the issue. It's how much money they were bringing in. And Wolverine & Deadpool were the only characters putting asses in seats.

@@TheBlueDragon86 Nah, man, I 100% agree with him here. This movie feels super empty, unlike No Way Home, which was also a cameo/fan fest, but it did have a heart and an exciting story going on. With Deadpool 3, the movie is relatively good for the first 40 minutes or so, but once they escape Cassandra Nova and start wandering through The Void, it feels super uninspired in general, just like most Disney+ shows do. And just like those, this third Deadpool feels really undercooked. They had good cameos in their hands and yet most of them felt like a wasted opportunity (except for Evans and, partially, Tatum, IMO). It's such a pity...
Remember the interview early on about joining the Avenger’s? He felt lost and like he didn’t matter, and he really needed to do something big to fix that feeling. By the end he realized he mattered to his close friends, and that’s enough. Am I the only one that took that message away from the movie? You don’t have to do something big like saving the entire world to matter, because you matter to the people around you.

The lesson here is Deadpool isn't saving the world, he isn't saving the universe, the multiverse, he wants to save HIS FRIENDS. The people in this little picture, THAT'S his whole world. In his last two movies he's not saving the world, he's nobody, he's nothing, he doesn't deserve to stand by the AVENGERS!
But the entire movie is about how you can have compelling stories WITHOUT making the stakes EVERYTHING. The final battle is this epic brawl between Deadpool and Wolverine and an army of Deadpools from the multiverse!
And after the fight they all just stand back up cause they can heal and also it's the multiverse, so there's just an endless number of them so it doesn't matter.
Personal stories are what actually matter, not just the biggest stakes possible to make. A good amount of the movie is spent mocking the TVA, one of the dumbest creations of the MCU, and what Mauler is COMPLAINING that he's making them look retarded?

You're supposed to forget the other movies even happened and pretend he has an established relationship with Wolverine.

Seeing him back as that character was great but I can't understand why he doesn't have the sword. Weird choice.
The plot has some serious holes. But to be positive and this isn't a spoiler because it was in the final trailer. When Laura and Logan meet up at the camp fire. It was a great plot point that this Logan has been hearing about how great the other one was, and to have Laura say he really wasn't much different from you, he just showed up when he was needed most. It makes sense from the story standpoint that that moment would be the catalyst that gives this defeated Logan the motivation to be a hero.
Yep. I can forgive the movie for having holes and contradictions, because its not trying to be serious cinema. It just wants to entertain and have fun.
See, this was my biggest issue. I never saw Logan and even I thought she needed to be more in the film and there needed to be more moments with them two in order to show some harder character growth. I felt like character motivations were just non existent, especially with the villains.

On the upside if Deadpool got his final wish, that means Laura has been returned to his timeline. And we could theoretically get a movie where she finds Wolverine and they would get that character growth.

Well, that depends. I probably would have to rewatch it again to see which actor had more screen time. Granted screen time doesn’t matter and most movies like this. But if it’s a buddy movie, both two lead characters need to have equal screen time. And I can’t tell you how many movies I’ve seen like this where one actor had more focused than the other when it should’ve been about both of them.
I absolutely thought that Wolverine/Jackman was the better part of the movie. Sure Reynolds was comedic and some of the 4th wall breaking was funny and I'm grateful that he pushed this through and got it made, especially with the current marvel regime but I keep thinking throughout that I would have preferred this to be a more serious, more wolverine focused film. Overall I did enjoy it and its 100 x better than anything marvel has done since endgame (guardians 3 included imo) but it would have been better with 50% less of deadpools tired jokes.

Tonally, it's a Deadpool movie. But in terms of character progression, it's more of a Wolverine movie. But Deadpool had good character development too.
Logan was so one dimensional and just kept saying "stfu" the whole time. I kept waiting for him to do..... anything.
This movie didn't care about plot, it was all about making a fun movie with actors who are actually good and can work together. Plus even in the comics , Deadpool is all over the place doing crazy shit that doesn't make sense most of the time. So for me this was a breath of fresh air in comic movies and movies in general.
What you guys think was ‘pandering’ was ‘paying tribute’ to some of us who have been comic book fans for years. I didn’t know about any of the cameos, so I didn’t watch to see those. For me, it was giving me acknowledgement that Ryan Reynolds listens to his fans and respects them. Also, putting those actors in the film cost time and money, but that didn’t matter to Ryan, who understands his fan base. He wanted to give us a fun, heartfelt movie and I feel that he did just that.
Wolverine certainly did something near the end that took me back and was worth all the hiccups

This movie was a buddy cop movie written as a send-off/love letter of an era non-MCU films and as Snarkjay said executed as rollercoaster. I've loved Deadpool movies and the comics (Cable & Deadpool my favorite) and just wanted to go see the movie a second time immediately.
They did make fun of the woke message early in the film where Wade tells some guy at the part "that is what I think about *insert every political topic*" with the guy wanting to reply and telling him no.

As a long time Marvel comics fan, as well as someone who grew up during this earlier era of Marvel character's films like Blade, Fox X-Men, etc this movie was a fantastic closing note. It was never meant to be a movie to appeal to everyone - it was a movie made for the fans.

As a person who doesn't give a flying ducks about comic books and someone who went to cinema maybe 6 times in the last 10 years and only remember two titles, I must say this movie was a breath of fresh air. The monologue in the car was probably the best delivery in the last 20 years :) the fight was just a cherry on top.
It is a solid popcorn flick that doesn't take itself too seriously.
I think a lot of 'critics' forget that concept.

It was just nice to see a film created by people who clearly love the characters, get the source material, and most importantly know what the audience wants and has the respect to give them what they wanted. It was heartfelt in its appreciation for the characters and the past. Something that seems lost in so many properties where they want to crap over the past.
The anchor being thing was a meta concept, I heard. That being is actually the leading role in a show or franchise, and when they die(show cancelled or leading actor moving out), their universe just fade away, because no one want to run it anymore.
The damn dog scenes got tiresome, but it was damn enjoyable as a whole.
Yeah. Like, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish did a dog character far better than an R-rated movie.
And that’s saying something since it shouldn’t be hard to make a dog character work. Heck, The Mask which everybody has always compared to Deadpool today even did a dog character perfectly.

@@chadwhitfield6946 Not really, he praises good movies as well. It's just that there aren't many good movies being made anymore, we're lucky if we get 1 or 2 good movies a year, compare that with the amount of good movies produced per year in the 80s,90s and early aughts.
Most of the time he's 100% right in the things deserving of hate. You don't have to agree with his overall take of the movie 100% of the time, and if you think about Mauler's arguments as to why this movie was bad, you can't really say he's wrong. I can appreciate the points he makes and still enjoy the movie.
This movie was far from perfect, but it had enough things in it that fans of the comics always wanted to see on the big screen(ie Wolverine getting bloody with his claws, Wolvie in the X-men suit, etc) that you can overlook, and ignore some of the things that don't work. It's the difference between subjectively and objectively. You have to admit the plot/story of this is very weak, but the action, the jokes(when they land, not all do), the fun these actors are having while making it is palpable, and entertaining.
And the last point, Do you think that maybe the only jealousy here is that which you are perhaps projecting?

I don't understand what mauler is on about. How are the characters dead? Deadpool is a 4th wall breaking deconstruction that is taking the piss. What movie did he expect to see? Characters? Cliche? Fucking super hero landing, what is he on about? It's supposed to be gratuitous and cliche. Motivations? The scene where deadpool is trying to convince "the others" by trying to manufacture motivations why they should help, with wolverine laughing in the background literally makes fun of motivations and atomizes the 4th wall by having the actors state their own motivations for playing in the movie instead (guess thats why he said it was sad). After all, there is only one blade but plenty pompous critics. Personally i think it took guts. Or maybe arrogance? Either way i love it!
Question for Mauler: what is the “control group” film that he holds as the standard? He’s entitled to his opinions of course, but I wonder, what is he looking for in this kind of movie? *For the record, Deadpool 1 and 2 have some of the same flaws, not to mention other issues, so I can’t imagine those are the 10/10 standards to compare against.
To back up my positive view of D&W, the beginning of it set up the tone really well. And the main scenes, character moments, and action sequences, were really fun. The jokes landed a lot, and while not very deep, it’s primarily a comedy so having serious themes or character arcs isn’t quite as critical in terms of achieving its goals. That said, it did have some character arcs and larger themes (as surface level as they were…)
Also, the special effects and music/audio effects (and there were a lot of them) did their part to help support the story.
Maybe it was Roger Ebert that said this, but movies must be judged in the context of their genre.
D&W is an action comedy aimed at adults - and I’d say in that genre, it’s a solid 8/10, well worth going to the theatre to see, especially for all of the millions of super hero movie fans.

12:03 The main villain of the movie felt like a direct critic to the MSheU. She was like a way more powerfull version of her male counterpart and she ended up in the dumpster exactly because the fans would have hated her whole concept as a villain in her own series.
I looked her up, and Cassandra Nova in the comics does have all the powers. But you're right though, a stupidly overpowered and nigh unstoppable genderbent version of a beloved character does sound like something the MSheU would throw in just to stick it to the fans for liking something.

I do agree with Mauler, but the few bits that worked still make it a better movie than the other MCU dross out there today. I also liked Cassandra Nova a _LOT_ and I thought I was done with girl bosses so If she can bring even me back, there's still hope for the girl boss concept yet.
Casa Nova works because 1) she’s a villain rather than a hero and 2) she’s not a villain because of sexism or anything like that
this is 100% not my experience. Yes the movie plot was lame, however, that in part was I think planned to further stk a knife in all the multiverse crap. Everyone at the theater was laughing and hollering and having a blast where I was, BEST movie Ive seen in a long time, purely for the spectacle and nostalgia.

Isn't it so interesting that such old or arguably obscure cameos bring up such joy just to see them in action and in character for a little while? I feel like I want full movies for most of the major players that came back. I may never get them, but these forgotten characters have more love behind just one of them than the entirety of Phase 4/5.

Instead of paying homage to a forgotten era of superhero movies, I want a Deadpool movie that helps me forget about the last five years.
I came to watch Mauler be Mauler. I adored the movie lol. But I also adore Mauler ripping things apart.

I kinda disagree man. Most cameos are like drive-by’s. “Hey look who it is!” shooting star type scenes where the actor cameoing is LITERALLY there one second and gone the other. Think Stan Lee’s cameos. Here, every single character cameo’d got to play at least a mini role. They were on screen for multiple minutes and had more than one sentence of dialogue.

I mean the movie has a lot of very obvious glaring plot holes. The whole concept of anchor beings alone is pretty stupid from an in universe stand point. Just one guy dying destroys the whole universe? That opens the door to so many other problems if you start thinking about it.
But I still had a blast with the movie. The movie was full of energy the opening was ridiculously fun and you could tell they all had a ton of fun making it.
Personally I thought the whole concept of anchor beings was an interesting commentary on how a lot of these big movie franchises seem to depend on one character for their success. It's deadpool after all. Breaking the 4th wall and talking to the audience is kind of his thing. Hugh Jackman as wolverine was the main reason the x men movies went on as long as they did. Once he retired from the role after Logan the fox universe slowly withered away. You could argue that Thanos and Iron man were anchor beings to the mcu. They died in endgame and the mcu is slowly starting to fail and wither away. They had to bring back RDJ in an increasingly desperate move to win back a little bit of the relevance they used to have.
I’d rather be flayed alive than listen to a 5 hour contrarian rant covering a fun buddy comedy movie.
That was the exact opposite experience I had. People were cheering and got more excited as the movie went on.
I loved the violence except one part really bothered me. When X-23 is flying at Juggernaut about to cut his head off it cuts to the next scene right when she's about to do it.
I feel like the rating drop forced some real harsh cuts like that.
I'm anticipating an unrated version like we got with Deadpool 2 (which really did improve the movie). Hopefully an extended/uncut version can plug some of the more glaring holes. Although it already was over long I thought so...?

@@mikenelson8715 I think ratings are different outside of the US. Where we get Rated R and Rated M for Mature, they get something called PEGI and a number rating. It's why I was confused when they kept saying the rating was 15 for the movie.
I thought it was more of a callback to Logan when she walked out with the reavers head and bowled it towards the bad guys. You don't see it, and you don't need to, you just marvel at how brutal the kid is.
I have a feeling that we will get that in an uncut version of the movie.
There's was some funny jokes here and there but for the most part it was bog standard modern MCU sludge. Deadpool 1 & 2 were waaaaay better.

I think the cameos were genuinely perfect. They’re all from canceled non canon universes and paying homage to them for the last time instead of focusing on lame unestablished cameos like Marvel does was actually perfect

The MCU is beyond saving unless they use the Dr. Doom avengers movie as an opportunity to kill off all the "new avengers" (nothing would satisfy me more than seeing RDJ kill off the bastardized characters that ruined the franchise he kicked off), and secret wars as a way to recast some of the original cast of heroes people liked with a new set of actors and basically start over, destroying the multiverse in the process. It won't happen, but hey, if they can still make an entertaining movie every few years good for them.
Suoerb Video. Agree 100% with Mauler. Found the fighting between two immortal characters to just be a waste of time. No consequences for being stabbed and shot countless times… so fucking stupid. At the beginning of the story, why do vulnerable mortal agents for Paradox continue to try and fight Deadpool. He winds up walking through all their dead bodies at the end. Why don’t a few of them say during the fight, “FUCK THIS…I AM OUT OF HERE!!!” Hated Pirates of The Caribbean Black Pearl for the same reason.
Two of my younger co-workers and their girlfriends really enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing it on "cable".
Weakest of the Deadpool movies. The story premise was really dumb, and the TVA (whatever they are) were bad enough in Loki. BUT...watching the scenes with Deadpool, Wolverine, and certain cameos (the first one they met with the full blue suit had me dying), made the movie fun to watch and I laughed a lot. But unlike the first two Deadpools, I don't think I'm interested in seeing this one again.
