2014 definitely changed the game for the postcards
That year basically defined the standard.
@@mlplnz And it still went downhill from there..

Not really
The 2014-2015-2016 run will always be unmatched, for me. The 2014 concept was just so clever; the 2015 ones had a real charm and showed both the contestants' country and Austria; and the soundtrack and cinematography of the 2016 set is just gorgeous. One detail I do really like from the 2017 set is that you get to see the whole national delegation.
2014 and 2016 were amazing 🥺
The best postcard of 2024 was Petra Mede's
I love how the 2023 ones took a landmark from Ukraine, The UK AND the performing country. Really contributes to the United by music idea❤️❤️❤️
The 2023 postcards are the best ones since a few years I think. Such a cool idea with the landmarks, especially with the Ukraine situation.
that's what "United by Music" means 😊
@@StevenFail_Kuyashi mhmm definitely united by music
@@StevenFail_Kuyashida se
@@StevenFail_Kuyashi Now it's united by corruption
@@mlplnz United by Mess 😂
It's like, 2019 provided an interesting concept of dancing in the host country, 2021 did what it could with all of the restrictions in place of a second-to-best scenario that still showcased both the host country's cities and town while also providing a glimpse into the singer beyond the song.
Then 2022 comes around and we get possibly the coldest looking postcards, even beating 2012.
At least 2023 recovered immediately from that. The ABSOLUTE winner of all postcards so far, the best postcard concept for a duo-country host.
2014 was soooooo good! The best year by far!
I loved the concept of artists making their country's flags out of different things in 2014 postcards and I'm so glad, they reused this idea for JESC 2023!
2021 - I loved it for showing artist's interests and hobbies
2023 were also amazing. Showing a place in the host country and then similar place in artist's country! (I've heard that 2024 might do something similar to 2023)
No, in 2024, everyone was just filming themselves on video
i absolutely love the 2010 postcards
not only do they show the artist before they go on stage melfest style, but they also show the audience !
meanwhile the 2011 ones are so random... and the 2012 only flex azerbaijan as a country
2014, 2015, 2016 and 2023 for me were the best
2019 was TOP TIER!
2014 is the best! And amaizing 37 different flags
My opinion of each idea:
2010: is this really a postcard? I think we all know what shape the countries have, though it was pretty good that we could see people cheering at home in each country and the artists preparing for performing.
2011: I like it, but I don't really like when postcards are not about the participant, but at least it was a bit about their nationality
2012: well, Azerbaijan is beautiful, but it is again not about the contestants
2013: finally, it's about the contestants
2014: it's a simple idea with creativity, I love it, this was even the reason why I became a Eurovision-fan
2015: PERFECT, this is how you show the participating country, the artist, and your country, too
2016: it's not bad at all, but after the creative ideas of the two past years, it's nothing special
2017: it's the same as 2016 just with a bit more momentum
2018: i loved it, because it's similar to my favorite 2015
2019: good idea to make contestants dance and show your country, too, I love it
2021: typical quarantine feeling, lonely places, but it introduces both the contestant and the Netherlands, it's definitely OK for 2021
2022: I did not really loved this one, it's just a little bit better than 10 years before, it only shows Italy, apart from some pictures, we do not see anything about the participants
2023: it's the two-country-specific beta version of 2015, I loved it, it shows Ukraine, the UK, the participating country, and the contestants themselves, too
Yes, I agree that ORF got the postcards (and many other parts of the show) exactly right. The BBC also got exactly the right balance (I was really eager that they included Ukraine in the postcards), even though some of the location choices were a bit odd.

The postcards of 2022 are just terrible. It feels like 2008
Sweden really made the best one for 2013 and again in 2016. Very cool concepts on them
2013 the butterfly concept was so good
2023 is by far the best, No arguments about it
2010: fans waving
2011: expats from said country in Germany saying “feel your heart beat” in their own language
2012: tourist board films
2013: artist’s normal life
2014: artist makes flag
2015: artist does a “traditional Austrian activity”
2016: artist’s normal life
2017: artist’s normal life
2018: artist does an activity
2019: artist in Israeli landmark
2021: little house on the prairie
2022: artist on side of building
2023: landmarks and connections
2024: artist’s normal life plus glambot shots
About Turin's postcards I was wondering if the concept behind was a reference to Eros Ramazotti's "Un'altra te" video clip where a lot of masked imagery or footage were projected in buildings, water or random objects.
2016 is the best ever. Beautiful cinematohraphy and music
It's a more straightforward concept but the 2016 postcards are just so well executed. It's clear that in 2017 they wanted to do something similar but it's just not quite up to the same standard

2018 has the best theme, 2014 and 2019 (in my ancestral country) the best premises, with a very diverse use of locations for 2019 and some excellent sites in the local area, and 2023 (in my home country) was strong but could have been better with a wider spread of locations. Whilst I understand why there would be few London centric postcards, even as a Londoner myself, I think there should have been some more unique locations like The Lake District and Peak District, rather than just bias to the local area (8 postcards) the south coast (6 postcards) and Wales (5 postcards)
2022 was just a huge embarrassment for RAI
the 2016 ones are sooooooooo nostalgic fawk
@bintro. 2016 and 2019 ones are not from the live shows. Can I ask where you got it from?
Can you do one for every country?
Very Little curiosity : the 2022 was the only year that the name of the country (down left with the number ) when the song ends, that has the logo. Someone correct me if i am wrong.
2014 was one of the best postcards
It's JESC 2022 postcards being better than ESC 2022 postcards for me...
2012’s were so bad it’s actually difficult to process, and 2022’s aren’t far behind. 2014 and 2016 remain unmatched I’m afraid.
2014, 2016 & 2023 are the best by far

2014 postcards literally clocked all of other postcards
2010: Basic but did the job
2011: Also basic but Charming
2012: Just incredibly dull
2013: Nothing Special
2014: Absolutely genius, loved it
2015: Great concept, good fun
2016: A bit boring
2017: Nothing special but at least it was upbeat
2018: Good concept, could have been done better
2019: Not to my taste, but not bad
2020:
2021: Really good idea to showcase the artists personality
2022: Felt cheap, hated it
2023: Postcard Perfection - Showing off host and competing country and artist's personality.
First love: 2016
Nice shots and anticipation: 2017
Best creativity and cool music: 2018
Best production, graphics and music: 2019
Best mood after COVID: 2021
Meme potential: 2022
Back to normality: 2023
Cheap production (even if the country was the same as 2016): 2024
2016 is by far my favourite. Can't wait for this year's since again Sweden will host :). The music, the scenario, cinematography, music and especially when in the end we can see a landscape from that country with the motion script of that country. Very clever, timeless(even though it's a yearly contest!) and eye-catching.
After 2016 I enjoy 2021(even though many didn't liked that much). It has a nostalgic feeling with a great amount of '''eurovisionness''. It's quite sound and calm, serene visuals actually raises the tension just before the entry.
2014, 2019, 2018 are all very entertaining ones. I love to watch them.
2010 has it's own thing, I enjoyed people being excited in the contestant's country, also it is quite compatible with that year's theme if you remember theflashmob of 2010. It gives me goosebumps every time whenever I see people from all over Europe dancing in the same song. That's what Eurovision is about.
Did Oslo really have children singing "nananananane" in the background?!
Netherlands 2021 by faaaaar for me.
KYIV! NOT "KIEV', KYIV!
The old lower thirds for the song name, artist, writers, country etc were so much better. The modern titles are so all over the place I don't like them
2016 >>>>>>>
Coulda Chosen The Winning Nation's Postcards...
They got Germany’s 2010 and Ukraine’s 2016 postcards at least.
Since 2013, the participants themselves began to appear in the postcards. Before that, there were some left-wing shots with left-wing people
2023 is the best, 2022 is the worst.
2016 >>>>>>>>> the rest
2014 was the best for me. The originality to create the flag is amazing.
Im sorry but 2022 is the most boring.
2012 is incredibly self centered…it didn’t show the contestants nor their country
My top from worst to best :
13) 2022 : Absolutely embarrassing. They look so cheap, the camera shots when they follow this drone-robot thing made me dizzy, and the pictures... omg, just godawful
12) 2011 : Dead boring. They don't show much, we don't even see the artists, and they are completely forgettable, surely the most forgettable ones on the whole list
11) 2017 : I always disliked these postcards, it's so blatant they had no inspiration whatsoever when making these, so they tried to copy 2016's ones, but made them cheaply. They're just boring
10) 2013 : Quite boring ones, although some nice shots of the participants. Nothing more to say, they're forgettable as hell
9) 2015 : The concept isn't too bad, but they're really boring imo. Not the worst, but not the best as well
8) 2012 : There's no artists and that's a shame, but the shots on Azerbaijan's points of interest are really nice + the fact the arena displays the flag's colors outside is a very nice touch! (although some flags were really really distorted in the process)
7) 2019 : Interesting concept! But to me they're not really memorable (hell I even forgot they were all dancing before watching this video), although nice shots and overal great quality!
6) 2021 : Really sweet touch with the lockdown period, with oppressing but touching empty spaces, and the artists represented by props which all have a specific meaning for them. Nicely thought concept!
5) 2010 : Very underrated concept, I really love these graphics showing in a live-action manner, the display of the countries' flags with these bubbles is really smart... definitely among the most creative and technologically advanced postcards ever!
4) 2016 : I think these ones are number 1 when it comes to cinematographical qualities, they look so fantastic! I would've just liked them a bit less static, but very very nice! And FINALLY we got away from the very boring stripes for the countries' graphics, these were so innovative!
3) 2023 : Fantastic shots! The concept of showing a similar place from the participant's country, the UK and Ukraine is so simple, but it works so well! Very interesting ones, and they haven't gone for the most well-known spots from countries, so that's a plus! Very nice!
2) 2018 : Absolutely mesmorizing postcards, I remember almost all of them still today after years of not watching them. The best depiction of the artists out of them all, and the theme song is so relaxing, I just love it! They're like a pillow you hug to feel serene
1) 2014 : Is it even a surprise? These were peak creativity, and I've begged for years and years for another host to do the same, although now that I'm more grown up, I'm happy it remained as Denmark's thing. But yeah, this idea of representing your country's flag with whatever you had in hand is just so good, and all the final pictures looked so good!!! Peak postcards, and I think that's not even a debate!
Actually the BBC did the flag creation postcards already in 1998.
@@davidmb1316 Oh interesting I didn't know that! I'll check them out
I disagree on 2011's being completely forgettable. The tilt-shift effect is kinda cute and no other postcards have managed to fit into the theme of the contest as well as these did. Plus, Germany's was a really nice tribute to the whole organising crew, which not many hosts have repeated after them
@@jlust6660 Well yeah but the artists themselves aren't presented, and the scenes are quite average. It's just people coming from the country competiting having an activity in Germany and that's it, that's why I think they are really nothing special. Way less than other years that's for sure
2022 were the most embarrassing and cheap ones of all time
Welp looks like 2024 will set a new low
