    STORYLINE:
China on Thursday opposed the U.S. decision to add four Chinese companies to an export blacklist for alleged involvement in providing AI chips to the Chinese military.
Suppliers must apply for special licenses to ship goods and technology to the companies on the list.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning in Beijing urged the US “to stop politicizing, instrumentalizing, and weaponizing economic, trade, and technology issues.”
Mao also slammed the U.S. and Japan for a joint statement issued after a meeting between President Joe Biden and Japan's Prime Ministry Fumio Kishida in Washington.
In the statement, the leaders expressed concerns about China’s growing aggressiveness in the Taiwan Strait, the East China Sea and South China Sea.
Mao refused to comment on the South Korean ruling party’s crushing defeat in parliamentary elections, saying they were “internal affairs” of the country.
Separately, Mao said China commented on the recent remarks by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the border issue.
