It was so weird here in Helsinki when the Covid-19 hit the world, that we didn't have international turists here. I'm so happy that you are back here and enjoyd your stay in my home town(city). Thank you for a great video!
Hi! So nice to see you enjoyed your time in Helsinki, even without the snow 🌨 Always delightful to see tourists visiting our beautiful capital, especially during pandemic! Great video 👌🏻
I sent the link to your video to all my sisters. We all miss Finland so much. We immigrated to Canada with our parents and now all live here in Canada. Miss it so much! Thank you for the Christmasy vid!!
This year the Christmas market is a bit smaller and simpler because they are renovating the senate square where it would usually be held. But the vibe is sill there!
Oh that’s interesting! We noticed all of the past pictures where in senate square and we were wondering why it moved. That explains it! It was still such a great experience! 🎄
Thanks for sharing..I love the Finnish market place...my husband is from Finland,so we go to the market places when we visit. It's so beautiful!! ..awesome price for tickets..you make me miss Finland!!
Thank you for this lovely video. You were lucky to be in Helsinki Nov 22nd for the opening of Alexander Xmas Street. The parade is one day only but the Xmas market is there until Dec 22nd. The location is the South harbor, so, the wind is freezing because the Baltic seafront is there. I hope you loved your stay 💖 Merry Christmas!
Helsinki and Tallin are both amazing cities and also great to combine them into one trip. The winters there are usually quite cold and snowy. Great video, brings back memories! I usually visit Helsinki at least once per year, but due to covid I haven't been there for more than 2 years. So I'm happy this video popped up in my feed.
Looks beautiful, some of the Christmas markets in tbe UK are huge but expensive, the Christmas Market in Manchester is excellent and its spread everywhere around tbe city centre but it gets very busy and you can barely move sometimes, we love Prague and maybe next year we might visit for Christmas.
Thank you for those wonderful travel tips! We enjoyed our stops at each Christmas market in Helsinki and Tallin. We are looking forward to visiting more in the future throughout Europe! 🎄

Dunno if you checked this in advance but at around 1:06 you're flying something like one block (or less) away from one of the Helsinki's no-fly sectors due the Presidential Palace being around there.
We always follow local drone laws when flying our drone. We flew up until the point you mentioned and turned back. We do our research before any flight to make sure we are cleared to fly. Thank you for the information on Helsinki’s drone enhanced warning zones anyone flying in Helsinki should be prepared to avoid those zones and only fly in areas that are legal and open. 🇫🇮👍
Also in EU you need to register your drone and it costs 30 euros/year. I don´ know if it applies to tourists but i would guess it does. Another fine bureaucratic thing to get more money from people. I guess someone almost crashed a plane in Helsinki Vantaa airport and they decided that everyone needs to register their drones if it´s over 250 grams and have a camera
@@AndrewandKait yes mi mom has 75 years old and like to make your "she says" final travel in your life and do you recommend santa claus village? But maybe so expensive yes?
We would definitely recommend Santa Clause Village it was everything Christmas all in one place. Lapland Finland is so beautiful you could spend much more time just enjoying the beautiful nature as well. It can be expensive for the trip Finland is a comparable to large city’s in the US in cost.
I’m so happy to see you experience the Christmas markets in my hometown when I’m stuck abroad and not able to return home for Christmas. Thank you for bringing the Christmas spirit to me 😍❤️
Similar Christmas Market is in Cracow. It is located in the biggest medieval market in Europe. It looks similar but tastes, smells, gifts are very different.
We are so excited to drop our Talion Estonia Christmas Markets video this Sunday. We loved the medieval market there. We will definitely go to Cracow in the future! Thank you for the travel tip!
Glögi usually has red wine, cinnamon, star anis, clove, ginger and orange peel. The clear liquid might have been just hot water so they probably have a concentrate and then they add hot water there. Not sure.
-6°C? Hahaha that's a nice temperature, here in North Karelia It can decrease to -38°C, i know Finland Is a really beautiful country and that's coming from a mexican who lives and works here ❤️

Hi I love your story of your visit to Helsinki. It’s well organized and easy to follow. Except, Kait , I wonder if you could speak a bit more slowly. I think it would be easier for us to follow you if you did.
It's not obligatory but most people wear it to the stores and public transport. The masks get wet really quick when you breathe with them in cold weather.
Well in short no there is no law that forces their use. They can't force anyone to use them as it would go against finnish laws. They are recommend to be used by the government but in the end its up to each individual to decide where, when or if you use them. Most people do use them but usually you don't see them on when people are outdoors if not in crowded situation. On the market people most likely were not wearing them because they were drinking or eating something and that is little bit hard with a mask on. Usually when you go indoors most people are wearing them like in stores. I usually myself only use them when I go indoors in public places but if i walk outside I take it off as in the end I am not going to go too close to others anyway while walking. You usually can easily keep distance to others so that is not a problem and is quite natural for a finn to do so anyway.
I would say the short-sighted 'modernism' in the 1960's was a much bigger culprit than WW2. They demolished a lot of the older buildings to build all the lovely, 'modern' concrete mold and asbestos boxes. Wartime caused fairly little damage in Helsinki, mainly from some bombing raids.
@@mrs7195 Truly sad! Helsinki has a lot of unique and beautiful buildings, but also a lot of gray boxes. The combination of it creates nice contrasts. Newly constructed buildings are often also very plain and uninspiring. I hope they will put more emphasis on beautiful architecture in the future!
