It might have been the clear plastic that they used for the fight fender that looks pretty thin. I got the black fender and it is super thick and durable. No way it's gonna snap as easily as the clear one does and it's much harder to get it to bend and fit inside the flight fin mounts. I have to wrestle mine in there and in your vid it looks like you barely used any effort to squeeze that thing in there. I would probably recommend getting the black one instead of that clear piece of plastic. Also- if you got that fender then get a pair of flight fins as well. They will help you feel more locked into the board during carves even if you're not using them for jumping- they're totally worth it. Not sponsored by then but I think they're one of the best aftermarket products for the OW for sure. Aside from float plates of course. Cheers mate!
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the clear flight fender seemed thin and not a ton of flex in it but was very easy to put on/off. Thanks for the feedback on the 'black' flight fender...that was exactly what I was wanting to know. Looks like the black will be the next purchase then. As far as the flight fins....they make me nervous since I kind of feel like my feet are locked into place but I've been told by others you can just pop them in/out of the fins if you want. I'm certainly contemplating getting a pair to put on though. Took a nasty nose-dive the first week I had this board so I think I might still be having flashbacks if I start riding with those fins. But, your right...I'm sure they carve better. Thanks for the feedback!
Sounds like I should just do the $100 add on with the additional bumpers and OEM Onewheel fender when I order my XR. Good to know this is obviously garbage.
For a better flightshield. It seems like they're just cut acrylic, I'm not sure why they're charging so much for it because it seems like it'd be very easy to mass produce them and thin acrylic sheets aren't very expensive. My advice would be just create the file yourself using a free CAD program, it's a simple shape, and you don't need to be super exact about it, but hopefully you still have your broken shield that you can go off of. And then send the file to a company that cuts acrylic pieces. You can choose any material you want, including thinner material that won't break as easily, or material that can bend easier. For instance, pvc acrylic is pretty malleable and can bend quite a lot before breaking. But I think you could fix your problem by just using a thinner normal acrylic that wouldn't be under as much strain as a thicker one. Maybe 1/32 inch clear acrylic.
The clear shield is known to break quite a lot from folks I've seen with it. Not sure what plastic they're using but clearly it doesn't like impacts. You could use a polycarbonate which I would expect to be more durable but any opaque plastic is going to be sturdier than the clear (plus the clear eventually becomes SO messy.)
I hope you reached out to Flight fins to replace the broken fender. It's clear there's was no abuse Plus how often do we get to I have evidence when something breaks that's not our fault to show
DiamondDog28 depends on what you want, the XR is better that’s facts but, if you’re not riding really often and you aren’t planning to ride on trails, then save some money and the pint will fit you perfect
Datroothstr8100 honestly i feel the XR better but, the pint is just another feeling, more carveability and control, if you’re getting a nice deal sure go for it! Specially if you’re not planning to do rough trails and mostly paved roads, then pint is perfect for you!
Take your 2 pieces of shield and grab a snow saucer , the round snow sled... Trace and cut them to fit for about 8 bucks and they're a softer plastic so they won't snap in half... I made my daughter mud guards on my kids minibikes for 20 bucks
I have both the Clear and Black Flight Fins Fenders for about 1 year now. The Black one seems to distort somewhat in direct sunlight ( I live well above the 49th parallel) , but is easily reshaped. The Clear FF Fender doesn't have this issue, I have 2 JBL Charge3 speakers attached to the clear fender. Many tumbles and crashes, never had an issue with the clear fender, just gets scratched up a little and dirty. It looks like the clear fender you have has a manufacturing defect. A replacement fender can be made quickly (and cheaply) from a large enough tupperware style container,, use your old fender as a template.
My man said "armor-dillah's" and "koosh", lol. Great video. Just poking fun. If you care, armor dilloz is pronounced like armadillo, with an extra r. Kush is like push, with a k. Heard you mention Bridgewater - I'm one town away, so I suppose we're close. With your flight sheild, it looks like since the tire was spinning as soon as your foot came off, the pinch from your foot against the tire, the spin of the tire in that direction (forward) grabbing it and quickly lifting it up, and the way it's locked into the front fin produced a perfect storm and creased it. Since they don't crease, they break. Sucks... Hope they replaced it for you. Though not really a defect, it's the cool thing to do, especially since you're giving them free advertising...
Nice! 1 more day and its arriving.. enjoy! Hope you watched my other OneWheel XR video about 'Nose Dives'...I mention because most accidents are the 1st week...talking from experience! Keep it under 19mph at all times! ruclips.net/video/T5BdhCVTWRE/видео.html
@@RGMGFitness I did!!!! and I have been watching so many videos and trying to make sure I at least fill my head before I fill my soul...... :-) thanks for your stuff
I have an XR man got about 600 miles on it. Do you have railgaurds on bud? And you need a power button charging port plug man! You can get them on Etsy for really cheap keep up the great work my friend
I'm supposed to be getting my one wheel in the mail today, Can't wait, it's gonna be an exciting weekend..... I bought a magnetic Carbon Fiber Fender, we'll see.
Nice! Enjoy...hopefully you saw my other video about 'Nose Dives'. Remember, above everything else that board WILL go faster than 20mph! Don't go over that!
Ordered an XR this past Friday. So excited! How long does it usually take to ship? Got a few accessories with it but definitely need to get some of those fangs! Thanks for the vid🤙
Enjoy! Honestly, I don't remember how long it took to ship but must not have been an issue if I don't recall. Hopefully, they gave you a tracking number and you can see when it goes out. Enjoy the new board!
I bought mine from Kosher motors in Florida on sunday, i live in Jersey and it got shippped this morning, they also gave me the guard rails and plug cover for free
Salvador Herrera just curious, how did you find them if you live in no? And did you get any discount other than the free guard rail and plug? I see an advantage of no sales tax buying out of state. Any other advantage?
Hey, cool video. Why don't you just get a future motion carbon fiber fender that will not break? They look great too. The only reason I could see having a setup like yours is if you enjoy riding without a fender half the time. Like you were saying in the video, I don't want to get dirty when I'm riding dirt and rocks being kicked up if I like having a fender.
Actually, I've found that leaving the 'clear plastic' off and just keeping the black fenders on works just fine. The fenders alone seem to work just great on their own. Personally, I don't even think the plastic piece is even needed. Yeah, I ride a mix of road and trails.
I did all of this before I hit 20 miles haha. Was so excited to begin! I still have my treaded tire in the closet while the stock gets ran into the ground though.
I just bought the Pint...love it. I live in NJ so I will have to look up that woodbridge guy cause I was looking into a treaded tire - so I can do trails....any recommendations? I found the pint does not do well on gravel with the stock tire...
Check out this guy. He’s got a board shop near Somerville, NJ. @onestopboardshop he just opened his shop. Was in there the other day. They’ve got all kinds of cool gear and boards. Tons of tires he can recommend as well. 👍👍
Ive had mine for the pint for 6 months i throw it arround and really bash it and have had zero issues must of just had a pressure crack from manufacturing or somthing. I thought for sure by now it would have broken so i bought a sheet of plexy glass to make my own for cheep
I've had my flight fins and shield for a year now out 5k miles on the board, all stock except the flight fins and shield and I have wrecked at 20 plus mph and jumped off and it rolled across the street several times and I have yet to break or crack none of them parts or mess the board up at all really besides scratches
So I’ve only been on my board for about 150 miles and I have a flight shield that has been drug on the pavement a few times with no problem, however I do not have the clear one not sure if that one holds up differently but i prefer the current as opposed to a full fender and the price of a magnetic fender
Looks like tons of fun. I just ordered a summer board and a Meepo mini. Debating on getting one of these also. From Jersey also in the old bridge area. Can’t wait to take these down to the shore and ride
I'm also in southern NJ, and looking forward to getting one of these. Haven't pulled the trigger on one just yet, scoping out witch after market mods I'm going to get along with it. Can't wait! As for the fender I'm going for the galaxy carbon fiber, reviews are great on it.
Just watch those 'Nose Dive' videos about the OneWheel and you'll be fine. Unfortunately, when I bought my OneWheel there was very little information out there on the nose-dive issue. Keep your speeds under 19mph at all times....wear a helmet, maybe wrist guards depending on how aggressive you are. You'll have a blast! Just follow those basic rules! Good luck witht the wife! :)
Cool vid! 👍 I got the black flight fins shield, which is real tough but I don't use it. I cut a new one from thin flexible kitchen chopping mat, you get it from the kitchen stores usually in a pack of 4 mats. It cut easy with scissors and is lighter and really tough. It was a bit too flexible so I strengthened the sides a bit and shortened it a bit too so it hugs the tire closer. Anyway, you can make it out of any flexible plastic just test a small piece of the plastic first to make sure it's not brittle like that clear one you had. 🙂
Good to know...thanks! Yeah, clearly the 'clear' shield is of a different material than the 'black' shield version, but doesn't spell that out on their website. I love the creativity of making your own.....I hadn't thought about that....Thanks for leaving a comment. 👍👍
I was just about to say to myself this area you’re riding looks awfully familiar. I ride my mountain bike on the Raritan canal trail starting from Bound Brook area all the time. I’m researching a one wheel XR now and ran across your video. Thanks for the tips
Yep...l live in S. Bound Brook. :) Also, if you want a good board shop check out One Stop Board Shop in Branchburg. They have a ton of great gear and the shop owners just a really cool guy.
@@RGMGFitness I’m sure you’ve heard the news on the new pint and GT! I was just about to pull the trigger on the XR and the website went down for onewheel. Afterwards I just ordered the GT! Unfortunately I won’t see it until end of January. Hah.
@@NamJi yep! Be safe…I haven’t heard anything about them fixing the “Nose Dive” problem though. Just know the limits of the board because it’s inevitable if you push the board to hard. Not trying to discourage you…just make sure your up to speed on that topic. Enjoy! I love the board…just think they should fix that issue. Most find out about it the hard way.
Hi there. Just order my XR and it should be delivered tomorrow. I ended up just gunning for the large package with the fast charger, stand, mag grip, fenders and whatnot and im just going through any rider-made videos for suggestions about riding, tricks, troubleshooting, common issues, etc. You reminded me that I forgot to get the fangs to save me if I get the dreaded kick back (I've heard a lot about it lol). Did any of these upgrades void the warranty?
haha i got my wheel right around when this video was put out. love the damn thing! float plates are comin in the mail today, but i really like your fender might have to grab that. also those fangs look neat. thanks for the vid brotha!
Very cool. I got almost 500 mile on mine. Just love it. I'm 51, and never skateboard or snowboard before. But I got a hang of it. Like ur fender. Up in Alaska I'm gonna keep going. Maybe try in the winter time.
Just went on comments after the video. I made a couple videos. Look for onewheeling in Alaska. I'm the one with black and white checkered Van's. Old school, brother.
Loving my XR. 635 miles since January. Nice video. Easy starts on soft surfaces. There are lots of folks running all manner of fabricated fenders. I’ve also seen plenty of people hit hard without breaking those fenders. 1 wheel parts 1wheelparts.com has replacements that you can even customize. I just got one and I’m going to post a video about it soon. Float on good sir!
I will say my XR hasn't arrived yet but, you can't go wrong with the OG onewheel brand fender they sell on their shop. I've seen loads of videos where it has held up well even for someone to stand on it. Idk if this helped but I hope your next one works!:D
Nice video - I appreciate the upgrade reviews. My XR plus is a year old now and nearing 500 miles and the Vega tire is continually weeping sealant - probably from all the sharp crushed rock I ride over. Anyway, I'm thinking of a tire upgrade and I'm wondering why you didn't go with one of the treaded tire options, considering all the trail you ride? By the way, I also have the Kush and really like it. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
I just picked up an xr and am still learning. A little scared to hit pavement cause I'm not 100% comfortable on it yet, but its a lot of fun. However, I'm wondering if its worth upgrading to a tire with better treads for off road. My tire has barely started to even show any signs of wear, so I'm thinking it might be too soon, but if the treads are worth it, I might do it. Also thank you for mentioning one stop in Bridgewater. I've been wondering if there was a spot in Jersey close to me that would be able to do some upgrades and knowing that there is is such a sigh of relief.
I just subbed 💯 I'm new to tha onewheel world and I'll be getting a pint for me and my son to practice with, we're excited! So the clear fender, what piece is it going into? Can I buy that for the pint?
@@RT-qz5ci ayyyeeee! thats whats up bro. im going on 3weeks bought mines july 16th and been rydin everyday since! keep rydin have fun and be safe out there! #GreedyHungry #LasVegas
I have most of the accessories on the pint, including fangs, kush nug hi, a fender, and charger plug. 1,000 miles to replace the wheel seems too early since I've seen riders on the leaderboards with over 15,000 miles. As someone who rides 500 miles per month and resides within a small town, how often would you recommend to replace the tire?
It's all based on 'wear-and-tear'. If the tires still in good shape..no need to replace. Depends on if your reading treadled tires or slicks as well. As what as terrain your riding.
I'm worried about face-plants. I heard they're commonplace.. Have you ever experienced any hard stops because of the battery or electrical issues that caused you to fly off the board?
I’ve got over 1,000 miles on my XR and the only issue I’ve had was the 1st week with a nose dive. I go into detail in this video; ruclips.net/video/T5BdhCVTWRE/видео.html. Keep it under 20mph and you’ll be okay. Biggest mistake is exceeding limits of the board and riding to fast. Hope it helps....
I’m torn between the Pint and the XR-on one hand I like cruising but i know I want to go longer distances: cruise the jersey shore boardwalk, etc. which do you suggest? P.S. Thanks for letting us know the plastic shields will not work for aggressive floating. 👌🏽
100% go with the OneWheel+ XR. If your a smaller person I would say the pint will get the job done but for nice, easy, long and more enjoyable rides you'll want the +XR. The pints going to be more maneuverable and quicker to respond but it's just to small of a board for me. I'm about 210lbs so its something you want to factor in. I'm often carrying additional items to so it can add a little more weight to the board.
Everyone I know who buys a pint upgrades to an XR. Literally everyone. I was torn between the same decision. Bought the XR. No remorse. No regrets. Totally worth the extra.
Nice Ron, thanks! I should be getting mine this Thursday, finally! I ordered with the wheel guard and the bumpers. Looking forward to it but, heck, you make it look so easy. I'm a bit trepidatious ... O_o
Nice! You'll have a blast on it. Take your time...you'll be surprised it's really easier to ride than it looks. The hardest part of day 1 is just getting 'Off' the board. I'm sure you've seen all the videos. I know I've said it before, but always feel responsible to others who buy (especially after watching my videos)....just keep your speed 'In Check' and you'll be fine. So many of us (myself included) just wanted to let this thing fly (and it will). The stats say it does 19mph (and it does)...but keep it at 10 for at least the first week. Then 15 tops....I might do 'short bursts' above that...but *NEVER..EVER...more than the 19mph* ....it's just to risky. You might see these young guys getting away with it but the boards just to unpredictable above 20mph. Follow that advice and I guarantee you'll be fine. Keep me posted!!
I’m debating whether to buy a Pint or XR. I would love the extra mileage of the XR but I’m having a hard time justifying it for the price jump 😬 any suggestions? also any suggestions of a used board vs new?
We'll, if your a bigger guy I would strongly suggest the XR. I'm 6' (about 210lbs) so no way I'm riding the pint comfortably. As far as a 'used board'. You may want to reach out to 'OneStopBoardShop' (on instagram). They do board repairs and see if they can help you there..great guy and he could always inspect/repair anything you decide to buy used (maybe he knows someone as well). Hope that helps...
Yeah, I'm hearing a lot of frustration lately from the community. Especially with OneWheel's newest release the OneWheel GT. Future Motion has really angered a lot of folks with that release.
I’ve caught the bug. I probably should start with the pint but heard the xr is more stable plus I’m 6’1 and around 200lb so I donttttt wannna charge every 5 miles lol
I've answered this question for a few others. In short, I would recommend the XR if your a bigger person. I'm 6' tall and about 210lbs. The XR is a bigger board and more comfortable to ride. If your a smaller person the PINT may suit you just fine, but would be to small for me. Plus I like the extended range I get on the XR. Hope that helps...
The flight shields from 1wheelparts.com are way better. My shield directly from flight fins snapped as well. 1wheelparts has a lot of customization and the shield seem a lot stronger!

@@TRISTANizaZOMBIE Interesting..someone told me the 'black' one is stronger. Guess still not strong enough.
Sounds like I should just do the $100 add on with the additional bumpers and OEM Onewheel fender when I order my XR. Good to know this is obviously garbage.
I like how I’m watching this video even though I know I can’t afford one atm and probably won’t be able to for a couple of years
LOL...hang in there. Tech just keeps getting better.
Totally agree.
It's clear there's was no abuse Plus how often do we get to I have evidence when something breaks that's not our fault to show
The clear flight shields are the weaker ones.. The opaque ones are considerably more robust..I have both and on my second clear one
UHMWPE same as the float plates believe. Might not be available in clear, but less brittle.
Greetings from Jersey as well, my XR is getting delivered on Monday, i own a pint already and can’t wait to feel the difference
Review???
I’m about to buy a used pint today, should I wait
DiamondDog28 depends on what you want, the XR is better that’s facts but, if you’re not riding really often and you aren’t planning to ride on trails, then save some money and the pint will fit you perfect
Datroothstr8100 honestly i feel the XR better but, the pint is just another feeling, more carveability and control, if you’re getting a nice deal sure go for it! Specially if you’re not planning to do rough trails and mostly paved roads, then pint is perfect for you!
Salvador Herrera 800 with 350 miles a good deal?
You didn't link or say much about your angled stem. Is it a replacement or an extension? Got a link?
Yes I would be interested in this too as you could now probably screw a LED light on it finally ...
My XR comes in next week. Been killing me waiting for it to come in. Thanks for the info.
Yoo my pints coming in 4 days
I'm ordering one today 😂, one wheel is benifiting from all this boredom! 🔥
Nice! Enjoy!
Take your 2 pieces of shield and grab a snow saucer , the round snow sled... Trace and cut them to fit for about 8 bucks and they're a softer plastic so they won't snap in half... I made my daughter mud guards on my kids minibikes for 20 bucks
Good suggestion! thx..Actually, the company just reached out to me and their sending me a free replacement. They reached out to me..gotta like that.
Nice vid, just ordered a pint for commuting. Can’t wait!
Enjoy! 👍👍
My XR is arriving Thursday!
Just ordered my XR ...So pumped!
Keep the onewheel content up. Good stuff, thank you!
Thanks!
You have to buy a adapter for the mag handle right? Great video man
Ordered an XR this past Friday.
@@RGMGFitness excellent, I also think The Floatlife sells the fenders that are floppy like that.
Thanks for sharing... I plan on traveling with the one wheel. Is the one wheel allowed to hand carried on a plane?
Ive had mine for the pint for 6 months i throw it arround and really bash it and have had zero issues must of just had a pressure crack from manufacturing or somthing. I thought for sure by now it would have broken so i bought a sheet of plexy glass to make my own for cheep
Very unique look to your board man. I like it 👍
Thanks! Rides so nice right now..
You should get a plug. It helps protect from water 🚿
Exactly! Best places to ride are the shores. Take mine to Ocean City, MD every year and have a blast. Take that thing everywhere I go...
I'm also in southern NJ, and looking forward to getting one of these. Haven't pulled the trigger on one just yet, scoping out witch after market mods I'm going to get along with it. Can't wait! As for the fender I'm going for the galaxy carbon fiber, reviews are great on it.
I hope you decided to get one for Black Friday it was a pretty good sale.
@@headedwest89 no unfortunately I couldn't get one yet. Thanks for the response though.
Great video. I want to get one. Need to convince my wife. She thinks I am going to hurt myself where I won’t be able to work.
She is probably right, you sound soft as fok
Just watch those 'Nose Dive' videos about the OneWheel and you'll be fine. Unfortunately, when I bought my OneWheel there was very little information out there on the nose-dive issue. Keep your speeds under 19mph at all times....wear a helmet, maybe wrist guards depending on how aggressive you are. You'll have a blast! Just follow those basic rules! Good luck witht the wife! :)
@@kkmobilehose7684 I am getting old. So there is that. You'll get there one day too.
Cool vid! 👍
I got the black flight fins shield, which is real tough but I don't use it.
Yup, get the black one. Got one too. Pretty much unbreakable.
Was just at One Stop today!
Oh, and he often has DEMO days on the weekend. onestopboardshop.com/
@@RGMGFitness thanks for the info. Do they also sell the one wheel? Or should I just purchase from direct? Thanks
How did you get into my account?
Just went on comments after the video. I made a couple videos. Look for onewheeling in Alaska. I'm the one with black and white checkered Van's. Old school, brother.
@@robertjones6476 😄I was just joking with you. I was pretending that you posted under my account because we are both named Robert Jones.
Lol. So u had some smart parents, too. Good man.
Same thing happened to my shield I emailed the company they sent me a new one for free and it's a lot thicker
Also the black shields are less brittle.
I would get the craft and ride magnet fender for a fender
I will say my XR hasn't arrived yet but, you can't go wrong with the OG onewheel brand fender they sell on their shop. I've seen loads of videos where it has held up well even for someone to stand on it. Idk if this helped but I hope your next one works!:D
About to buy my first one wheel xr
Enjoy!
Ha ha, the last thing I think about after I clean my Onewheel is keeping it clean. To paraphrase the band Queen, Get on your Pints and ride!
Grab the flight fins skip the shield 🤛🏻
Nice video - I appreciate the upgrade reviews. My XR plus is a year old now and nearing 500 miles and the Vega tire is continually weeping sealant - probably from all the sharp crushed rock I ride over. Anyway, I'm thinking of a tire upgrade and I'm wondering why you didn't go with one of the treaded tire options, considering all the trail you ride? By the way, I also have the Kush and really like it. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
I do a mix of trail and road riding. Just liked the way the slick tires feels (personal preference).
I just subbed 💯
I'm new to tha onewheel world and I'll be getting a pint for me and my son to practice with, we're excited! So the clear fender, what piece is it going into? Can I buy that for the pint?
The FlightShield just slides into slots on the FlightFender. You’ll buy separately …check out flightfins.com and they have one specific to the PINT. 👍

Treat it like a car tire...show metal swap it out
Ya ive got 800 miles on my tire and still has factory nub marks or wear marks on.tire prob got 2000 miles more
I would replace the tire every time it wears out. Duh
I still have the scars from that crash...
Buy fangs 3.0
@@RGMGFitness Thanks, Ron, I sure will! :)
@@RGMGFitness thank you so much for the advice ya I’m 6’3” and 205lbs I’ll reach to them thank you!

I’ve caught the bug. I probably should start with the pint but heard the xr is more stable plus I’m 6’1 and around 200lb so I donttttt wannna charge every 5 miles lol

@@RGMGFitness thank you for responding this really helped!
Just wait till the manta ray flight kit hits the market 🤙
Should I get the XR or the pint? I’m torn
Hope that helps...
great video man!
Did you loose or gain range with the tire upgrade
Just avoid the clear shield. I have the black plastic its indestructible
Whats wrong with a regular fender ?
