Never get tired of this performance. It is so dramatic, its progression spot on. The final minutes so intense. The strings make the whole thing sound fuller. The heavy guitar sounds so powerful. If you don't feel anything when listening to this performance, you are dead.
No band will ever match what these guys have been doing over and over and over; just think: match the notes on a 10 or even 22 minute song (Octavarium anyone?) with unbelievably complicated timing in a live concert??? These guys so deserve more recognition!
And the next downfall is even better, it describes the aftershock of the grief of 9/11 and the monster that has been created with such an event. You really can feel terror and the need to build up an ever stronger spirit to beat this monster.
@@RaatoHamse I thjink John Petrucci actually writes most of the lyrics for DT songs I belive, but regardless IMO they are very appropriate. Almost like it's from the point of view of satirically insulting the "martyrdom" of the terrorists is how I've viewed it.
An absolute masterpiece. Brings so many emiotions together at one song. Also brings tears to my eyes when seeing those terrible images of the Twin-towers... Once again, just one epic masterpiece!

What a haunting account of what so many of us either personally witnessed or watched on our televisions on September 11, 2001 and the months to follow. I hope none of us forget the events of that day. May all those lost rest in peace...
I remember when I was little I liked this song so much I had the lyrics printed out and hung on the dresser next to my bed. It was weird because I didn't know what they were singing about.
yeah. And it sucks in many other places. He is pretty bad when trying to sing high during live. It's not an accident that many people think he's tone deaf when live.
LaBrie's live performances are very hit or miss. Unless he's performing with Ayreon, where his performances are always hit. But this entire concert is LaBrie at his best.
Is it ironic that, the song is about the attack to New York, there were three New Yorkers in the band at the time, but a canadian wrote the lyrics? Still, it was really appropiate to play in NY, with a full orchestra.
Até agora me perguntando o que são essas viradas do Portnoy! Animal é pouco! E justo numa com orquestra e carregada de sentimento. Dream Theater: alguém aí me avisa quando nascer banda melhor...
For some reason, whenever I see James singing and he goes for the higher notes, his tongue is moving like he was Jabba the Hut, or maybe that's just me. No disrespect to him by the way, just wanted to point that out lol.

Fuck yea!!!! Omg so amazing and so much put into it.
Truth be told, I felt nothing but Sorrow, Anger, and Disgust...
But like a man, I ironically decided to keep it to myself~
Mike Portnoy.
100% agreed
The beast of performance
No band will ever match what these guys have been doing over and over and over; just think: match the notes on a 10 or even 22 minute song (Octavarium anyone?) with unbelievably complicated timing in a live concert??? These guys so deserve more recognition!
Herman van Barneveld
They’re GOD
Sadly, VERY few people appreciate their music.
the 3 voices together so beautiful amazing masters
Yea
Love the part between 6:16 - 6:51. It's so "wooow!". Eargasm.
I think that section and the solo from Octavarium are the most powerful parts from the album. This is such an underrated song
+Muhammad Afiful Hashif The orchestra gaves such a special touch in this part
+Admirable Joe octavarium is an epic song but sacrificed sons is the most epic and powerful song on the album. just so beautifully melodic
And the next downfall is even better, it describes the aftershock of the grief of 9/11 and the monster that has been created with such an event. You really can feel terror and the need to build up an ever stronger spirit to beat this monster.
That's why i want Mike back
Definitely in my Top 5 DT songs. This live DVD is incredible as well. Love the mix, the performances and of course, the lineup.
Ahhhhhhhh, I love those parts where MP and JP are singing also!!
me too
Ikr, i hope they start a band together again
6:10 El solo de Petrucci es brutal..
Proof that JP is the best guitarist on earth. I am baffled that anyone thinks otherwise
6:13 will never get tired of that part.. always gets me 👏🏼 best band ever
The way portnoy takes them out of the 15/8 section into the 6/8 and the accompanying melodies makes me tear up every now and then 😅
2020 Who still listening to this song?
Loove youuu Dreaam theater💓
Great band and still love!
6:14 and on is just fucking beautiful
Exactly. Most underrated DT song! That entire orchestral part is one of their best instrumental sections in my opinion.
Goosebumps everytime
Words are useless to describe this epic song...
Cristian Halmagean LaBrie made awesome lyrics!!

No, but i agree about the best song.

The beauty of this song has made me cry many times.
9/11 2018. I think this song perfectly expresses what was seen and felt that day.

5:40 - the most badass solo by Petrucci!
Son y serán la mejor banda del maldito universo.
My favorite album, my favorite song.... Awesome !!!!!!
Been a fan for almost 4 years but only recently getting into this song. The lyrics are so well written and performed!
I think it's safe to say, this song is both magnificent and tremendous.
Já ouvi umas 100 vezes e não me canso 🤘🤘🤘
You know something out of worldly incredible is happening when a classical music conductor is getting high on metal ....
Dream theater once again making music out this existence
damn labrie still had the voice
6:16 On is probably the most beautiful/ badass thing ever.
The true Progressive Metal!!!!!!!!
uma das melhores performances do Dream Theater...
I make it a point to listen to this every year on 9/11.
6:17 look at the face of the guy who has glasses :D That's what people always look like after Petrucci's solos.
@telemachia1
possibly one of the most majestic songs i've ever heard!

"Who'll be Coming home tonight" part
made me cried
You know people give James so much criticism. But his performance here was flawless.
yeah. And it sucks in many other places. He is pretty bad when trying to sing high during live.

Não Existe outra banda igual a essa pois eles sim são profissionais .........

My favorite JP look as far as beard/hair
Goosebumps every time I hear it!
Is there anything more awesome than a kickass prog metal band with an orchestra?
7/8 rhythmic patterns at 4:40 and 7:38 ..... astonishing
I think it's 15/16
What an epic journey this has been. Thanks DT.
Miss this formation
There's nothing like native New Yorkers performing a beautiful song to remember those who died 10 years ago. Hail Dream Theater
7:38-7:42 james picking up a drum stick and yeeting it back to portnoy
Look at Mike at 9:11 pointing to John to stand closer to the public during this segment of the song.
yeah .. 9:11
no me canso de esta cancion FAXTER EL MEJOR :D
MP is so good at singing backing vocals.
We can't , we can't play better than this
As always, the best 10 minutes and 36 seconds I've spent in a while. Why,why, why, why, why did I ever cut my hair and sell my drums?!!!
This is one of the rares times then everyone in DT was just PERFECT, this song has not even a note misplaced.
@MrMyungFan
i so agree!! And sooo much better than the album edition. Pure love!

Fuck this song is really powerful. One of my favorites of all time!
This means so much more being in New York City.
I was thinking about that.

@@branlopgar wait, did James write this?
@@woodenhoe yep
Melhor do que a original do cd.
Ainda prefiro o cd, mas foi Espetacular mesmo!
I simply love this song. Nothing else to add.
I look so long for this. Thank you.
MIKE PORTNOY
This song always gives me chills every time I listen to it
sometimes I have a doubt that they are human. This song is flawless
i love how Petrucci fails the note at 6:25 and still sound great maybe better than the original IMO
I do not think he failed to reach that note.
He might improvised to make the riff even better! ;)
Not a mistake, he did the same thing here ruclips.net/video/ebTwuR775NY/видео.html
A PIECE OF MUSIC
Myung you beast!!! He's the man from Japan with a battle plan and a six string bass!!!
That bridge at 6:20 ish when the strings come back in make the hairs on my neck tingle every time!!!
I love DT...SUPERBB🎉
10:20 portnoy throws the stick onto the orchestra
The unusual thing is that Portnoy didn't spit on the orchestra sometime during the show.
6:56 blonde girl were saying " wtf im playing "
Love this song
4:14 portnoy says fuck this drumstick
12 years later, I dedicate this song to all the victims of 9/11
This band will never be the same
1:47 Dont cry my friend, Mike will return someday.
🙏👁️🙏
Almost a year too late, but he's back
Dream theater is the best of the best,,,,,,,,
amazeing.......great song.....
One earth one sky . Why we have the diffrent of each others . The song is so inspired
Does anyone know the note that is played at 6:38?
Até agora me perguntando o que são essas viradas do Portnoy! Animal é pouco! E justo numa com orquestra e carregada de sentimento.

Quem está ouvindo essa pérola ai em 2021?
