As your Qualified Trainer Lucy Wyndham-Read I have a great passion for Womens Health and teaching easy ways through exercise at home that we can all feel our best and as we know exercise is essential for the menopause from helping to reduce hot flashes to the meno belly.
Several factors contribute to the accumulation of belly fat during this life stage and within this Menopause Workout and we go through this within the workouts and tips on lifestyle factors that can help reduce menopausal symptoms.
Here are some of the Changes in our body that cause Menopausal Weight Gain:
Hormonal Changes: The primary cause is hormonal fluctuations, particularly a decrease in estrogen levels. This hormonal shift can lead to changes in fat distribution, causing more fat to accumulate in the abdominal area.
Metabolism Slowdown: Metabolism tends to slow down with age, making it easier to gain weight and more challenging to lose it. This metabolic decline is accentuated during menopause.
Muscle Loss: As women age, they may experience a decrease in muscle mass. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so a reduction in muscle can lead to a slower metabolism and weight gain.

Good morning Lucy this was really good. I'm soon to be 48 and definitely perimenopausal, mood swings, hot flushes, belly fat, and low mood. Aside from health life is tricky too on work and personal front, so definitely doing some exercise is so helpful for my body but mood too. I've got your 16mins audio walking work out too, another great product. My issue seems to be my discipline, completely gone out the window in relation to food. Just feel hungry all the time and irritable 😢. I love all your work outs perimenopausal or menopausal, I will do them as they can only help. Thank you Lucy. I loved this workout, combines nicely the cardio and the full body exercise. Can I ask you to speak in your next video about breathing during the exercise? I saw a video about the tummy exercises and she explains that to tone the core muscles we should expel the air in the contraction by the mouth cos when we do that engages better the core muscles. Just seen this video n better late than never n I’ve been looking for something like this as nearly done with menopause but yep weight has crept on so I want to get trim n fit even tho I bike to work everyday but need something in between n this is perfect first day today doing it n it went so quick! Love how it works all your body etc so I will update on how I do as I plan on doing it every morning before work like I have today 😊

Hi Lucy, I’ve followed you for years and I’m wondering if you can give me some advice. I broke my ankle in 2 places and dislocated it last August. I’ve put on a stone since then which has really got me down. I’m still having issues with my ankle and due another operation but I did this 15 min exercise for the first time today which was great. If I did this 3 times a day would that help me? I can’t do anything high impact but I really need something to boost my metabolism and get me moving again! Thanks Alison x

Just a wee update, I had a second op on my ankle a few weeks ago, it’s not been easiest few weeks but I thought I’d give this exercise another go today and it was fine, not too hard going on my ankle. Im hoping to start getting fit again, I’m just wondering whether you think lifting weights is effective in the menopause or should I stick with your non weight bearing arm exercises? Thanks again!!

Lucy, I am elated that I found this exercise….I’ve been doing your Weeks 1,2, 3 and 4 lose belly fat exercises since March 2022, which are all awesome, but this session is like a combo of all those exercises. I've never been a fan of sit-ups (they hurt my neck, maybe my form is wrong) and I don't really like planks either, so I'm glad that you say that standing abs exercises are better than them. But it makes me wonder why so many fitness people encourage sit-ups and planks?
