- Arkansas broke a tie with USC to clinch the national title in the final event of the 2019 women's outdoor track and field championships. Texas A&M finished first in the event. This was the world-leading time for 2019 through this point in the year and ranked No. 6 on the all-time collegiate list. A previous headline on this video was incorrect.

During the baton exchange, I see some of the runners standing completely still causing the approaching runner to crash into them? Do they not practice the baton exchange? SMH.
Right some changeovers were awful
@Flatus Antiquitous a lot of schools actually don't practice exchanges, and although not as important, still precious tenths of seconds

Although, I’m not an athlete my understanding of baton passing was you should never have to look back . You’re to keep your eye out for your teammate and run and extend the palm back for baton. I know most times it’s not done that way. If you come in 1st then ehh a wins a win 🤗🤷🏾♀️
@@Sugastack That's usually only true for a 4x1. Most 4x4's have the athletes looking back to get the baton.
This race had the worst commentators. Getting Texas A&M confused with SC over and over. Ugh.
They are always the worst. Need to be replaced.

Both commentators are legends in their own right of US Track&Field I think the confusion in choice of uniforms and their distance from being able to see the action
@@HomeVidEdd This was the reason for the misidentifying of the men of LSU in the 4x100 relay final teams having same colored uniforms.They wrongly assumed FSU was disqualified.
This pair were nominated for "Worst Track and Field Announcers in a College Event." Completely oblivious that it's the fastest time this year until some producer/director sends them a message telling them .

You can run so smooth in the first 300m if you have a game plan and run your own race but sure you gonna die in the last 50m lolz
My coach made us run one each year regardless of your distance😵 I ran 200 (rarely a 300) and under and horizontal jumps. We had to do under 70s for girls and that sucker killed me every time. Fastest I ever did was a 66s
As an xc runner, I'm trying to find events for track season. I think you could do a 400 just do a lot of stretching and preparing for the race. I think you would do amazing and if you ever do a 400 respond to this on how you did please and Good luck!

I’m not sure if you do track & field, 400 metre is an intense sprint. Katelyn is a long distance runner, not a sprinter. There is a possibility that she will be in the relay, but surely she will not be anchor or the first.

Tiana Joiner exactly, this isn’t the first race I’ve seen a girl hit another one with the baton. You can tell the announcers seen it cause if you listen to the lady, at the moment the lady from USC got hit, she says, “OMG!!!!” That wasn’t just from the baton drop. They just didn’t want to shift the focus from the race lol.

Winning the team title is based on points. The two teams were clearly ahead of the others, so others winning would not score enough points for the title. Neither of the leading teams needed to win the event. However, they were close enough to each other that one could win or lose the title. It makes perfect sense if you understand the scoring of the sport.

Actually those commentators are track&field legends in their own right it's hard to tell whose who when teams are wearing similar uniforms and it's no telling how far away they were from the action better close up from camera guy could've been helpful

The baton exchange for quite a few teams was ridiculously poor. I would've thought that at the college level they'd practice getting a head start and having a running exchange of the baton. Very strange.

That white girl was the cause of the baton being dropped when she cut outside she pushed the other girl in with her elbow causing her to move in and contact to be unavoidable between the two
