I bought a 2011 RAV4 limited with the 3.5l v6. It now has 182k miles and is still running. My ongoing joke is that I’m going to keep it two more years. I’ve been saying that since I paid it off in 2014. Honestly I will keep my 2011 until it reaches end-of-life. That very well could be over 250k miles. Still, even if it dissolves tomorrow I definitely got my money’s worth from it.
All my life I wanted a Rav4 Hybrid. This year I finally bought a brand new 2023 and I love the hybrid mileage, the ground clearance and the 4 wheel drive. I was so in love that I totally ignored all the drastic design flaws. The roof is two inches too low. I am 5'10" and I bang my head every time I get in and out and what's even worse is the serious visibility flaws. When I look 30 degrees to the right the rear view mirror is directly in front of my face. If I want to look 30 degrees to the right I have to duck my head down to see underneath the rear view mirror. The center console is three inches too wide on both sides. It digs into my right knee making it painful to my knee cap to keep my foot on the accelerator pedal. I’m thinking about gluing on some padding to ease this problem. My wife also complains about leg discomfort on her side. The side pillars are so wide that I absolutely cannot see oncoming cars at intersections of less than ninety degrees. I feel like this is going to kill me one day. The headrest is so stupidly designed that I sometimes feel like it is forcing my head down. After four months of constantly banging my head, serious visibility problems, the most uncomfortable seating and the loudest road and wind noise of any car I have ever owned I am now sorry that I ever bought a RAV4 at all. Plus I heard of a new class action law suit because the moon roof drains are short circuiting the air bags which it claims Toyota knew about but failed to fix which the customer must now pay to fix and there is other talk about a power cable corrosion that may cost up to $6K to fix. After four months of living with this car I'm now sorry I ever bought a RAV4.
😂 I'm 6'2 I've never banged my head getting in my 23 Ltd Hybrid, maybe you have a lard as$? Better yet don't jump in....sit in. Road noise? Check your tires? Roof rack? What I hate is the inside door handle!!! This gotta change on the next version of the RAV4. Most cars the handles are in the middle of the door for easy close this has a weird feeling. Do you agree? Also the interior light is very dark.
Didn’t even notice the unusual door handle location until someone pointed it out in a review. Yes, it is a somewhat questionable ergonomic design decision but a VERY minor one IMHO all things considered. The more significant one that I’ve seen pointed out in some reviews is how the position of the steering wheel can restrict leg room for those with moderate to long legs. Wasn’t an issue for me being only 5’7” and I was leaning towards putting this in the same minor drawback category as the door handle until I had to wear a leg cast after meniscus surgery.
We are looking at replacing our Lexus IS300h this year, and are considering lots of options. We have a Toyota Yaris as a general run around, but can't decide what to do with the Lexus. Getting older now, and don't find it so easy getting in and out of a low car. The Lexus NX is a bit pricey, so am considering a Rav4. This one looks rather nice.
Don't full throttle cars that haven't been broken in. I'd hate to be the customer of this car not knowing this is how it was treated from the sales people
We got a 24 XLE for our teen daughter to drive, and our friends also got one for their teen. Great car for young drivers, it's safe, reliable, and somewhat sporty looking. We drove the Corolla Hatchback and that was SO FUN to drive, but so tiny! A deathtrap for sure. Rav4 a much better choice for safety for your kid.

Lmao he didn't even have the 2019+ rav4 hybrid 🤦 If I drive like those city busses🚍 I can easily average over 50+mpg, highest I've achieved is in the low 60s mpg in city believe it or not you can see it for yourself if you can get your hands on one either from a friend, family, rental, etc. Pretty amazing 😌 Pro Tip: when you see EV activated on your dashboard means you're achieving maximum fuel efficiency and try to balance your speed slowly down then picking up speed again. Example, you're going 45 but slowly decreasing to 40 then pick up to 45 again over and over again while making sure you're on EV as much as possible you'll see great results in mpg! Though, beware you'll probably get those inpatient drivers going for your throat so do let them slide by if possible.
The closest thing you can get is the woodland edition which basically adds a fancy roof rack and some slightly better tires along with some badging and cosmetic changes. But no, there isn't a TRD hybrid model.
PERFECT VIDEO DESCRIPTION!! Why does THIS Rav look a bit more elevated than most?? Thats what I'd like..... Please do a Venza-I'm trying to decide between the two, THX!!!!!!!!
Both RAV4 Hybrid and Venza have the same motor and hybrid drivetrain. If you don't need the extra room, get the Venza. It is a Lexus badged as a Toyota.
You mean no sunroof? If you get an XLE RAV4 you can get just the weather package and no convenience package which would have the sunroof in it. Not on the XLE Premium though.
The chrome upper window trim needs to go, It was one of the first things I did with mine. I'm 6'4" and my knees hit the door and center console, not of fan of the leg room at all.
I drove the rav4 back in 2008 from the DMV to NYC. I had the same problem too. I'm 5'11 with some joints issues. I couldn't get a comfortable seating position. Plus my legs and knees kept hitting as well. Now in 2023 my sis got 2 of them. The regular and the xle hybrid. I still don't like them. I drove each for 12 miles to the dealership for service. The seats are narrow and don't support. I'm a skinny person and just don't fit right. The reason being this vehicle was designed as a 7 seater so to make the useless 3rd seat fit they have to limit front seat room. Do the same with the second row as well. I love my camry better. The seat is like a recliner very comfortable plus offer a better lumber support.
Thanks for the video, we were able to fit a full size spare in the back and the floorboard is slightly raised. Great for road trips when we are on the highway in middle of nowhere
Interesting! Really the donut isn't a bad option and a pinch. The spare tire is never meant to be driven on for a long time. It's meant to be on the car long enough to get the damaged tire repaired or replaced.

No CD player, however, there are other options. You can copy your CD's to a flash drive and play using one of the USB ports. The USB ports should be able to be used to play music through the car's stereo, though I have not tried it on the RAV4. A flash drive is capable of storing many CDs on a single drive. Portable CD players can be purchased that are very inexpensive and should also be capable of being powered and played using one of the USB ports. Of course, you could also do it the old-fashioned way and stream your music from Amazon Music, Sirius, Apple Music, etc.

The cable corrosion issue in the connection to the rear hybrid motor makes the RAV4 hybrid a ticking time bomb, though. Why Toyota never re-designed this major, major issue that could lead to your car dying and a 5k repair is beyond me. A majority of the other Toyota hybrids run the cable into the motor from above, though not the RAV. If they can't fix this, I can't buy the car, as much as I would like to.

Roof rack? I find it to be very quite even at 75 mph.
BRW the roof rail problem was fixed in late 21. There are no leaks. Sight lines?😅 You must be a terrible driver, take a driving lesson. Is your wife a fat arse too? How much room to you need for your jello legs?
Thanks for telling us the truth 😁
@@michaelbell7914 5,10 banging his head and rubbing his leg on the console. Must be one serious Lard Arse.
The "Car Care Nut" on RUclips discusses the cable corrosion issue. The fix appears to be drilling a small hole in the pan that protects the cable.
@@jayp4114 I believe they cut the connector cover in half and added a gasket or something so water and ice and road salt can drain and added a plate under the car to deflect road crap away from the connector. Some people seriously doubt that will fix the problem but it a takes a few winters for the connectors to go so we’ll have to wait and see I guess. Hopefully all is well but plenty of other complaints about these cars as well, crappy android auto and maps for one. Road noise for another. I’m waiting to test drive one myself so we’ll see I guess.
Got a 2023 sienna this year and will be getting my daughter a Toyota hybrid when she turns 16 in a couple of years. The mpgs are great and it’s just a quality machine.
Both great cars. Just bought my wife a 2024 Lexus Nx350h in April. She loves it.
What I hate is the inside door handle!!! This gotta change on the next version of the RAV4. Most cars the handles are in the middle of the door for easy close this has a weird feeling. Do you agree? Also the interior light is very dark.
I agree.
The door handle sucks. There is no leverage on the door to open with ease.
Hmmm strange observation. If you mean the large grab handles, I could see that. I've never had an issue with them myself nor anyone I've talked to.
Wasn’t an issue for me being only 5’7” and I was
leaning towards putting this in the same minor drawback category as the door handle until I had to wear a leg cast after meniscus surgery.
you should do a video on the corolla cross!
Great idea! I'll get working on that ASAP, thanks!
Thank you for talking about the hybrid battery warranty. Did not know that.
What would recommend GMC Terrain Denali or Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Limited?
Please speak to a Rav4 hybrid vs a Rav4 gas-only. Thanks!
I think I'll cover this somewhat in a future video when I talk about Primes.
I wish Toyota would add a directional feature for the dash board. I live and die by one and my iPhone's directional has trouble staying on screen.
We are looking at replacing our Lexus IS300h this year, and are considering lots of options.
We have a Toyota Yaris as a general run around, but can't decide what to do with the Lexus.
Getting older now, and don't find it so easy getting in and out of a low car. The Lexus NX is a
bit pricey, so am considering a Rav4. This one looks rather nice.
Check out the Venzas also. I have a video of them on my channel to check out.
how about rav4 hybrid Le 2024 vs 2025 Le?
Can you describe the turn signals, blind spot monitoring etc. Also backup cameras and 360 degrees view if any?
Turn signals?
Will toyota ever have intercooler seats along with the heated?
You can get that as an option on the limiteds. It's the Limited Grade Weather Package.
Don't full throttle cars that haven't been broken in. I'd hate to be the customer of this car not knowing this is how it was treated from the sales people
Does it have power fold in side mirrors? I need this to park in my garage.

Corollas have a 5 start safety rating, same as the RAV4 fyi

I've had my rav4 hybrid for 4 years now and it gets 30mpg tops. It's also in the shop about every 4 months with different issues
Sounds like you got a lemon.
I have averaged 43 mpg over 80,000 miles with no problems.
What year?
Sounds like BS. My 2023 RAV4 XLE AWD NON-hybrid can make 30-40 mpg combine.
What's the most problems in this SUV?
BEFORE BUY ONE?
Will the Trail model ever be available as a hybrid? ? ?
Great Idea! I do love the Venzas, even more than the RAV4! I'll make a video soon on that.
I wanted the Venza too but can’t get over the turn signals on the bumpers. That’s too low and semi trucks and high riding vehicles can’t see them.

Why is the Radio and Dash cluster flickering Defect is it in all the vehicles?
LED screens and lights don't always work well on cameras due to different refresh rates. They are fine.

Calvary blue really only exists for the XSE Hybrid. Call me up in Asheville, NC and I'd be happy to help!
Looking at getting a 2024 RAV 4 XLE Premium and have been comparing it with the Honda CRV Hybrid. Leaning towards the RAV 4.
Only other thing I would have delved into is why the planetary gear system is so reliable, it's one of the biggest selling points to me
It's a great selling point and is what separates Toyotas CVT from the rest!
Is it a great car? No - its just a bloody good car, that does everything well.

Yes they have about a year ago Toyota corporation sent letters to all affected vehicle owners that they have an eight year hundred thousand mile warranty on that cable. I received a letter in the mail approximately six months ago.

Is there a CD player in this SUV?
I wish they would add a little storage cubby in the rear cup holder / arm rest.
No everything is digital through your phone or mp3
who uses CD these days? lol
Nope, CD players now live in the same void as 8-tracks and cassettes.
What is this "CD player" you speak of?

Hyundai Kia has so many vehicles in stock at least locally with Toyota having limited to no product excepting the Toyota Cross and well nigh unfriendly about doing business in the getting of vehicles was a huge turn off.
