I got hella lucky. I totaled my car 3 weeks ago and found and bought 2023 hybrid XSE with full option that just came in from Japan a week ago. Many dealers told me 8month to 1yr+ wait for XSE. Yes, I did pay markup but insurance paid me more so I'm good.
1:26 Mine also had a rattling in the trunk. On mine, it was because the license plate cover and the plate itself would vibrate against each other. I got a different cover and that fixed it.
I was just about to make a comment about the very basic (and in some cases cheap plastics) when you made the final statement about it being basic and not sexy. That is most definitely true. Its neither warm nor inviting inside, but it is utilitarian in design.
The 2023 BMW X1 is about the same size, better seats, quicker, nimbler, roomy, better driver aids, quieter, and quicker delivery. And no dealer mark up, which means cost is comparable to RAV 4 even with options to make it the same. But half the gas mileage!
Nice review! Honest and to the point which is most helpful. We are looking to trade our 2019 Rav for a 2023 Hybrid. Our 2019 brings 25K on trade at our local Toyota dealer. Thanks
Some negatives about the Limited (trims that have the larger infotainment): - The infotainment system itself is just... bad. A screen that size should be able to do split display of functions. It doesn't. Why would anyone want to see the entire screen filled with Energy Flow??? We should be able to see Nav, Music track, Energy flow, and messages split like you get on the lower trims. Plus, if you have Android Auto connected, it makes navigating through menus a NIGHTMARE! Many people are complaining about this. Not to mention the AA auto connection is very iffy. - Pretty much no light in the tail gate. Just one tiny side light that isn't functional at all. It takes someone putting in aftermarket light sets to make anything visible. - JBL sound system. It's not just bad. It's atrocious!! They put in these really small and cheap dash speakers that make anything that's not a podcast sound flat and overly loud without any lows. Those speakers must be replaced IMMEDIATELY with low sensitivity speakers so that lows pass through to other speakers and the sound is 90% better. Even just taking out those dash speakers alone and leaving nothing there is a vast improvement!!! - No bucket seat on earth is good for the human body. This Gen of RAV4 is no different. It's a must for any grown adult to find a seat wedge that works to get your legs and torso as close to 90 degrees or wider or else you'll develop sciatica if you already haven't. And if you have it, it will be so much worse. - The button row where the heated steering wheel/odometer/view functions are... they can't be seen unless you take your eyes off the road and lean down to look. Not safe, but I put some sticker bumps on 3 of them so I can find them by touch. - Lastly, and this is reeeeally just stupid. Why on earth don't the RAV4's have pockets on the back of the driver's seat?!?! You said that the roof racks can be adjusted to a preferred position but that's not true. You can take them off or leave them on but only in their set positions. That's neither a plus nor minus but I took mine off because I didn't like the moon roof overhead being blocked. I'm not thrilled by the cargo space but it's okay. I have NO clue why they don't have latches so you can place the cargo net upright near the tailgate! I like the way the back lights look. The ones on the CR-V are overkill IMO. Another plus the higher trims of RAV4 have over the highest trim of CR-V is that you can touch open and touch lock all four doors no the former, but not the latter. Another difference is that many of us still like to mount a phone (but not on the dam windshield) since AA/ACP don't do everything. In the RAV4, you can vent mount (if you find the right one). There's nowhere to mount anything on the CR-V thanks to that unappealing honeycomb grid for vents. You left out one of the best features: The memory seat! I love it. I use the 2nd button when I get out of the car so I won't ever bump the steering wheel when I get out or in. Once in, I tap 1 and it takes me right to driving position. HOWEVER, there is one minor fault! If you turn off the car power after you park, the memory seat buttons won't work until you either open the door or tap the power button. That's a little annoying. MPG on the RAV4 is MUCH MUCH better than the CR-V Touring. Even though the CR-V Touring costs less, it's bang for the bug is much less.
I waited for 18 months for my toyota Rav 4 Hybrid only to find in incomplete car which had increased in value by $7K and only supplied one key Fob. will Toyota be compensating disadvantaged Customers who were discriminated against by only supplying 1 key?
@@dwnshft I haven't had any real rattle from it. In fact, if you use the crappy dash speakers, you won't hear ANYTHING come from that sub at all unless you shift all sound to the rear! The harsh, cheap JBL sound in this thing is shameful. It's a MUST to remove the dash speakers (not the tweeters, but the 3.5" Fisher Price OEM speakers) and replace them with low sensitivity ones. Only then can you get any lows and have your mids not sound absurdly flat and loud. Once I corrected that, I can listen to music without any cringing anymore and there are lows. The only time I might hear a rattle is if I have the volume much higher than I'd normally listen to, just for testing, and even then, it's not bad at all. Drowned out by the music. So it's the DASH speakers that are unnacceptable (at any price, less the Limited/XSE price), but not the sub.
@@dwnshft How is the comfort of the drivers seat in the RAV4 vs the CRV? Which one would be better on my butt in a longer road trip? Thanks - great video!
@@PaulMahoney-j1gI think c r v's better now... For once. Toyota's have always had more complete seats. That's why I'm a Toyota fan river doesn't seem so in these now
I'm not a huge fan of these seats. The bottom cushion is noticeably thinner/lumpier than other cars I've driven and owned, so I'm going to buy an extra cushion. I also like road trips and want to make sure I'm comfortable!
I will be getting new crv hybrid because I can’t find any new rav4. I was going to get front wheel hybrid crv. Does any of you know real mileage that CRv Honda hybrid front wheel drive gets ? Thank you
Android auto vs Hey Toyota confusing to say the least and not very intuitive. No lock button on the tail gate (in 2024??), no folding mirrors?? Top line JBL audio not so great. Otherwise compared to my GV70 I like the vehicle not as much as the GV. The piano black trim looks good when clean and new, I hope it stays that way over time.
I enjoyed your review. I see one problem in Texas for the Hybrid. The blue light in the front is illegal in Texas. Ticket time folks! It is actually illegal in every state I know of. You cannot have blue lights on your vehicle. Blue is reserved for law enforcement per State and International law. Only amber and white to the front; amber to the side and red and amber to the rear except for the backup lights and license plate lights. Enjoy!
Prime isn't an all electric but it has a much bigger battery. You get up to 25 miles using electric only and then the gas motor takes over. That, and it just costs more.
Good review. A difference that you didn't mention, a very important one, is reliability. The Toyota hybrids are reaching 300k miles, they are so reliable. In fact, when I bought my 2023 Rav4 hybrid, my dealer threw in a lifetime powertrain warranty. You won't find this level of reliability in a Honda.
lifetime powertrain warranty doesn't mean it's reliable. Dodge dealers used to offer those often. They have lots of restrictions, you have to get all your maintenance done at the dealer, they will rip you off on the maintenance which will more than make up any future repairs needed, if any...
Been going back and forth between the RAV4 and CR-V.. I think I’ve finally decided on the RAV4.. You just get so much more for the price than the CR-V… I do like the CR-V’s interior a little more, but damn. Such a hard decision.
I've been split between those as well 😆 I started considering the RAV4 Prime potentially, but it's such a big price jump for something I'll likely rarely use, or don't want to stress out finding where I'll charge it between places, even though it can just run as a normal hybrid, but then why not just stick with the hybrid and save 25%/10k on the price. Pushing the 40-50k price range starts to feel like you're starting to enter the some luxury-end vehicle price ranges. I want the RAV4 to feel like a luxury vehicle, but there's a few things I imagine keep it from that -- I've heard the road noise isn't great and the engine noise can be loud as well, and now hearing about the sub is a bit odd as well -- you pay for the high end speaker system but it sounds like they don't add any dampening 🤔
@@CTSSTC don’t forget the government does have a tax credit for electric so if that version is electric you should look up and see if there’s a credit for it cause that could end up saving you that extra 10k or so.
I just bought a RAV 4 for my son. It was really hard to decide between that and the CR-V. I love the CR-V, but they are often missing Blind Spot because of the chip shortage. I personally like the way the CR-V looks more than the RAV, but the RAV has better tech and better reliability. They are both excellent choices.
@@CTSSTC I'm in the same boat, currently driving a gas hog WRX STI. I spend $120 in gas a week so the monthly payment going up even a couple hundred bucks is worth it to me. Plus with the Prime there's a $7,500 tax credit when you buy new. I came from owning a Tesla and loved just being able to plug in, drive to work, and come back home for a $60 electric bill increase. Unfortunately with MN winters and distances across the state I cannot do that without adding a couple hours of time in-between. In my eyes the Prime is worth it if you're commuting to work and it's less then 40 miles a day. Plus the heads up display is well worth the money, $3,000 for distracted free driving right on the windshield. If you're going to buy new with the Rav4 get the Prime with the tax credit (Technically its $43,000 at that point). I say go for it if you're going to hold onto it. On average you'll see any Toyota with 200k-350k in miles and they hold their value better then most cars.
I just bought a XSE Hybrid for my 21 year old son. I looked at cars for him for MONTHS. We checked out Kia, Honda, Mazda, and Subaru. I think the RAV4 is a much better choice than the competition for several reasons. Toyota has a ton of safety features on their cars even on their lowest trim models. Most of the CRVs we looked at did NOT have Blind Spot monitoring (the dealers said the chip shortage). That to me was a big no-no for a younger driver. The RAV also has a great back-up camera and that Lane Keep Assist will beep if you move out of your lane. You can't beat the MPG on the Hybrid -- he is averaging 42 city. The car is peppy and quiet and doesn't even feel like a 4 cylinder. There are also a bunch of USB ports all over the car-- Honda is lacking with those. His opinion was that the RAV 4 was sportier looking -- the CRV gives mom vibes. The CRV is a great car, but I think Toyota wins this.
LED taillights are standard on all RAV4’s from gas to hybrid to plug in hybrid. The only thing that’s incandescent are the reverse and turn signals which is the same setup with the CR-V
2019+ RAV4 tail lights are all LEDs. Brake lights are LEDs also. Rear turn signal and reverse bulbs are incandescent. There are no 5th generation RAV4 Platinum models in the U.S. currently.
The only negative thing about my 2022 RAV4 XLE Hybrid is that after two + hours, the seats become less comfortable. The 40 city Mpg, and over 36 Mpg on limited access highway (with cruise control set at 78 mph), more than makes up for this.
I thought my friend's RAV4 Hybrid was a bit uncomfortable to be driving in for 2 days nearly halfway across the country, but thought that it was potentially due to being in the passenger seat and having the lowest package.
@@CTSSTC, I went from a 2011 Kia Sorento to this '22 RAV4. The Kia was more stable while turning, and more comfortable on long trips, but I would not trade back.
I am happy to say I got my Rav4. Compared to CRV, Rav4 is far more attractive to me. I got the limited trim, same color as the reviewed car here. I was gonna get the XSE, thank God I got a good deal with the limited one. So far I am loving this car, no complains yet.
I just traded in a 2008 Camry Hybrid base model for the 2023 RAV4 Hybrid XLE and so far it feels like a downgrade. They are different types of vehicles, so it could just be my expectations are off, but the RAV4 doesn't feel like a very good value. It seems...cheap, inside and out and the seat cushions and fabric aren't comfortable, doors close and wobble weirdly, the motor sounds like a far away ambulance when slowing down (a little unnerving), the sound system is disappointing, and many more things I am not all that happy with. But, I'll give it some time. The gas mileage has been great (around 45) and it handles similarly to my Camry. I don't mind the road noise people mention; I feel pretty connected to the road. It's helpful having all that cargo space and the seats fold down nicely. Good turning radius.
A couple of clarifications from this review… the 10.5” infotainment screen, and the 12” digital instrument cluster are only available in upper trim levels and then usually only as an option (at least on the 10.5” screen)
Just flip it before the battery and several of the 100 on board computers go out not to mention the 2.5 x's increase in technical complexity and you should be ok. You haven't heard? Maybe you are woke botanist who never learned Ohm's law in college? Think of it like an iPhone. Nobody fixes an iPhone because they aren't meant to be repaired. Just turn your Rav5 hybrid in at a huge loss, Toyota will make huge profit and you? You don't matter because science and economics weren't your best subject in school. Duh. Gee, look Mom, I am saving the planet.
plastic seat named softtex is gargbage what is this a 1974 plymouth Duster. absolutly horrible interior and interior colors. Enough of the crappy interiors. No package anywhere gives you a heads up display on any toyota. Toyotas and Hondas used to be reasonably prices and super reliable - honda made like a chevy now for a mercedes price and toyota thinks they are a BMW $50K for a rav4? time for a real depression to drive prices into the ground again
I just bought a Rav4 XLE Hybrid for my son. It is a major upgrade from his old Ford Escape Hybrid in every way: More power, better tech, better styling, materials, engineering, build quality, etc. We looked at the Limited model too, but the XLE seemed to be a better value for the money.
In Consumer Reports they downgraded the Rav4 for having too much noise in the cabin. I test drove one and I didn't notice anything. But has your son mentioned that? Maybe they were just nitpicking.
@@pelicanhill3251i drive hybrid one, comparing it here (EU) to the nearest competitors like Ford Kuga (i think US Escape) Hybrid or CR-V it is definitely noisier but for me it's just enough. You can cruise at 140km/h and comfortably talk with passengers or listen to the radio. I have a theory that people (but mostly car journalists) say it's noisy because when you are driving economically engine is mostly turned off or is on like 1,5k rpm so it's quiet but everyone when testing a car needs to do one full power pull and then the engine really kicks in and people start to complain about either noise canceling or CVT gearbox. But when driving normally you can barely hear the engine, I have mostly 60-70% ev driving %.
I still goes with this Rav4 even though CRV is competitive. My sister has Rav4 but its not Hybrid, how i wish i could have one of those which is really outstanding. Thanks cor sharing.
I just bought a 2020 Rav4 XLE Hybrid with 15,000 miles for $36,000. I have been driving it on the highway and it doesn't have any problem with wind noise. In fact the front windows are thick, acoustic glass to make it quiet inside. The interior is not Lexus-quality, but I'm OK with that. Everything works well, it's fun to drive, and it gets over 40 mpg. I highly recommend the Rav4 to anyone in the market for a great SUV.
@@kxrnah8472 No dedicated button but it does work fine via the lock/lock/hold-lock on the fob. Not to mention it's easy to do it through the Toyota Connect phone app. It's a minor thing that the engine will turn off once you open the door but I know why they do that and I'm okay with it.
You got that right. It feels much much better.. And Im a huge toyota fan... I can't get over the difference.. And am favoring the CRV quite a bit more... Wish it had Toyota's drive train....
thanks! I hope to get behind the wheel of a Woodland later this year, but it largely depends on availability. I would say the XLE Prem just because I would prefer the Softex seats
If and when you get a chance to review the woodland, can you please find out exactly what the “TRD tuned suspension” is? It’s still 8.1” of ground clearance, but does it have TRD coil springs, dampers/shocks, and bump stops? Is it noticeably stiffer than the regular hybrid? Thanks
Picked up a 2023 hybrid XSE with full option in that exact same silver sky color minus running board a week ago and first thing I did notice was weird door handle positon, took a minute to figure out how to close the door. Smh. This is major issue for me and it is a design flaw. Still can't get used to it. I don't think average kids or seniors can close or control open in tight spot or windy weather without potentially ding other car. I watched ton of Rav4 reviews but you are the only reviewer mention this issue. My two other cons are crappy JBL premium sound and backup pedestrian alert sound, which I deleted it already. Simply couldn't stand it and didn't want to inform every neighbor whenever I'm leaving. Keep it if you can't safely back up a small SUV. Btw, CRV has more cargo space due to no spare tire, one of many reasons why I chose Rav4. For me, a spare tire is one of those things that I must have even if I don't use it.
I'm not happy with the door hinges either. Feels cheap. Sad to hear the JBL system isn't much better than the non-JBL. Definitely need to upgrade the sound system on mine!
Funny all the defenders of Honda in CRV hybrid videos say that the CRV gets 28mpg due to cold why doesn't the rav4 drop as much? Because Toyota is better Honda isn't
Even if there is a down side. Picking the brand who will most likely let my family go somewhere without letting us down is #1 by a landslide! That is truly all that I care about. Personally I've had amazing luck with Nissan. I've driven my 2 nissans around 700,000km combined and have only spent about $400 in all that time for a wheel hub. I changed my own brake pads, do my own oil changes... never an issue. however i like Lexus which I've owned and loved. and Toyota the most!
Is the engine noise always like this? I feel when I start the car and give two minutes while driving it I hear this engine noise when I step on the gas and it struggles, specially up the hill . I feel like I need to put on sport mode
Thanks for mentioning the small but very useful cubby holes around the dash. The small one for the driver and the large one for passengers, and the wireless charging pad. Things like that matter to me.
Excellent, focused and informative review. The last segment of mildly unwelcome findings was excellent and helpful. I would keep those types of findings in all of your reviews.
Toyota engineers are so with it. They put a rubber base over the glove compartment BUT these GENIUSES with ZERO COMMON SENSE allow the vehicle being capable of only REMOTELY capable of being started 2 times and then you have to PHYSICALLY open/close a door in order to reset it. WHY is there even a limitation??? Am I missing something? What if I go on vacation overseas or something for a month and need to start the vehicle REMOTELY daily for the sake of the battery and car's health??? Really unbelievable. SMH.
informative and good detail. Helps narrow down what I'm looking for. Thanks for the presentation. The likelihood getting over 41 mpg comb. on all-wheel drive in an SUV hybrid is impressive!
Saw that tenant screen today. Looks awful comma too big distracting.. And of course, this setup still kinda sucks /more complicated than it should be or could be
Two additional dislikes: Road noise is very high in the Rav4. Even in the top of the line Limited no passenger power seats? I had a 2018 C-Max hybrid that had power seats for both driver and passenger at a much lower cost. OK, there's a third, single rear seat pocket vs two seat pockets. Other than that great ride!
I have to admit I'm a Honda guy and a fan of the C-V but I love this Rav4. I'm guessing that the spare tire I carry everywhere in my Cr-V takes up about ... 2 cu. ft. (The motive battery is in the spare tire well) Now we're even, as for cargo space ;)
I wanted to like this car due to the performance and MSRP but it's just too small. The center console bangs up against the knees at the slightest leg spread makes me feel claustrophobic. The SE model feels cheap on the interior and the dealer already wanted 50k. FFS It's a RAV4.
I wish all these car manufacturers would dump the 60/40 split in the second row seats, and make them all 40/20/40 like with the Audi Q8 and Porches. That middle fold down is incredibly useful, and allows 4 full seats, 2 front, 2 second row, when you have to put the middle part of the second row down, while whenever you have to put part of the second row down in a 60/40 split, you get 3 and a fraction adult seats. Dump the 60/40 guys, and go the 40/20/40.
9:29 next to the button to open the tail gate is a much smaller dot that locks the car. But I could just use the remote while the gate is closing to do the same.
I was driving the crv while waiting a long time for the Rav. Love both cars but Rav 4 boot is definitely smaller. Also I am short and have the seat nearer the steering wheel, I hit my head on the door post getting in
Why don’t you talk on interior noise while driving. It’s horrible compared to CRV. 2. Door design, it’s heavy and has some uneven temperature controls.
These days is looks like they design the dashboards, then simply glue an iPad to the top --- yuk! Always in your face monitors are simply in the wrong place, and rather ugly.
The brake lights on the RAV4 are LED.. Toyota has a better resale value as an extremely reliable vehicle. Maybe you want to check that out before doing reviews
I was looking at the '23 Rav4 Hybrids to replace my aging CRV, but curious if you know why Toyota went with AWD on all trim levels? Living in Phx AZ, we mainly stay on pavement and rarely see ice or snow, AWD isn't a necessity or desire. Will Toyota offer a Rav4 hybrid in FWD? Thx
If none of your tires slips then you’ll be FWD but if one of them is not getting a good grip then it will automatically change to AWD. That’s what Toyota calls AWD in demand.
AWD might help you when you drive on a sandy beach some day..... you never know. I was watching a PGA tournament a few years back & it was delayed a few hours in the morning because of a morning snow fall........ it was near Phoenix in February I believe.
It's a nice vehicle, but it's too bad Toyota isn't making any of them. I really believe they are intentionally suppressing production of popular vehicles in order to keep pushing their average transaction price up. It just doesn't pass the smell test that most other brands have decent inventory, but Toyota has almost none. It sure seems like they are trying to condition buyers to be comfortable paying A LOT more for vehicles going forward. I've been frustrated with Toyota for a while anyway because of their abysmal dealership experience and their absolute refusal to allow customers to special order a vehicle speced the way they want it.
This is completely fake news. Google their production numbers and you will see that the production numbers are back to near pre-pandemic levels. There is lingering high demand which has kept inventory levels relatively low, but in my area, and many others I have checked, there are RAV4 hybrids available in every trim level, many with dealer advertised prices at MSRP. Quit bitching about the evil corporate car companies and do a little research - maybe you’ll be a happier person 🤷♂️
Getting mine end of April in the unicorn color Cavalry Blue with loaded Tech Package. Trading in my 4-month old ‘23 CRV Sport Touring for a lot of the same reasons you pointed out. Main reason (which you didn’t mention here iirc) is that RAV4 Hybrids have a spare tire while the CRV Hybrids provide you with a fix a flat can that would mean you have to replace that tire you just plugged asap. For the same price point of a tech packaged XSE and Sport Touring, you get so much more in a RAV4z. Yes, the “luxuries” in a CRV is better but at that point, get an Acura or a Lexus 🤷🏽♂️
I'd still take the comfort/ space/sizein the c r v... Not to mention, the dash just looks so much better and an easier infoset up on screen.... But yes, no spare tire sucks and the back not Being flat when the seats are down, just really burn me.
Stumbled upon this channel, probably the best review on youtube. It's great for people who know little, and enjoy deeper dives. most of the other reviews talk about a lot of fluff that we don't need. This is perfect. The CRV review, you hit the top 3 things that pissed me off in the first minute of the video. Excellent stuff.
It has 3 electric motors. The power split hybrid synergy E-CVT front wheel drive uses 2 electric motors. The rear wheel drive uses 1 separate electric motor. 2 + 1 = 3. It is more correct to call them motor / generators
I wanted to like the RAV4, but the back seat was a serious disappointment to me. It seems very flat and hard, and the cushion is shorter than in other vehicles I am considering. This leaves my very long legs with little support. Overall, the back seat feels like it is from a vehicle of a class lower than the rest of the vehicle.
@@dwnshft I'm just at the ruling-in/ruling-out phase. At this time, my top contenders are Hyundai Tucson PHEV, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and the Hyundai Ioniq5. Different technologies, different pros/cons with all. Could change by the time I decide to buy.
Saw my 1st XSE hybrid just the other day it was white. On closer inspection noted all the polished black plastic trims around the wheel wells and lower body. Interesting look, but couldnt help but wonder how durable that will be against scratching and scuffing over time? Seems to me the typical textured matte plastic is tried and true, so it looks like a risky styling move to me?
The door closing is odd. It does seem like cabin pressure makes it harder to close the last door. But not if another door is open or window is down. I can be aware and adjust as needed w few slams or second attempts. But my kids keep having to try 2x or something is open making it easy and they slam it. I’ve never experienced it on anything else in 45yrs.
I've had my Rav4 XSE hybrid for exactly 3 years now and I don't find closing the driver door a problem at all. I just shake my head every time I hear people complain about this non problem.
I remember i drove an Audi TT once (~2003) and was super impressed that when you opened the door the window would automatically go down about .5cm and then go back up once you closed the door. This was Audi’s answer to the tight cabin issue. Of course, I’m sure it would cost a lot to fix if it broke, but that’s German engineering for you.
Great review and appreciate the comparison to CRV. One thing not mentioned is that in Hybrid, the CRV is waaay more expensive. That seems counterintuitive... one main reason people get a hybrid is to save money on fuel costs, but then you have to spend 10 grand more for the CRV?!? Also enjoy the "odds and ends" ... one thing I would mention is the black trim around the wheels. Not sure why higher trims have them as painted metal - I much prefer the black plastic molding on most other trims and vehicles. I think that feature is more about utility (prevention of rust) then about looks.
Things I hate about my 2021 Rav4 Hybrid. Seats are terrible even my passengers comment about them. No lighting on the door window/lock buttons. No lighting on the about console. All panels including the roof sound like tin. Luckily I'm handy and fixed all the above except the seats. Love the mileage and the ride is good, since I'm tall I would of liked more head room and leg room. Adding sound deadening to the door interiors and roof helped on the sound. The standard speakers SUCK so of course I replaced them and added a spare tire mount sub woofer. I almost forgot about the terrible horn which I replaced quickly, now it sounds like a car horn not a rice burner lol The chrome trim above the windows is not good when you have the black out package so I blacked out all four of them. Not a bad car but surprises me it's the top selling SUV. I have the XLE Premium so it has most bells and whistles but really lacks in luxury. I honestly feel that all finger controls should be lit up for night time safety.
worst thing about rav4 2023 is that you cannot buy it.
Thank you lol
I got hella lucky. I totaled my car 3 weeks ago and found and bought 2023 hybrid XSE with full option that just came in from Japan a week ago. Many dealers told me 8month to 1yr+ wait for XSE. Yes, I did pay markup but insurance paid me more so I'm good.
My order will take me 9 months in New Zealand 🇳🇿
Wow🗿🗿🗿🗿
Yeah I ordered the xse in calvary blue 4 months ago. My salesman said that it might be 6 more months!! I'm not in a hurry thankfully.
1:26 Mine also had a rattling in the trunk. On mine, it was because the license plate cover and the plate itself would vibrate against each other. I got a different cover and that fixed it.
Good review. Where I live, RAV4 hitches are more for carrying a bike rack than towing.
You didn't mention that the Rav4 Hybrid has an actual spare tire . The CRV Hybrid does not.
I was just about to make a comment about the very basic (and in some cases cheap plastics) when you made the final statement about it being basic and not sexy. That is most definitely true. Its neither warm nor inviting inside, but it is utilitarian in design.
yeah you kinda get the feeling toyota is going more "rugged offroad" and honda is more "premium urban" with their designs
Yes period it'd be good 20 years ago for me but now. Getting a little older... comfort has moved way up on my list.and crv seems much better

I don’t care about taillights, I do care about simplicity and reliability that’s what Rav4 build for…
After watch both your reviews. I would have to agree with you and lean more towards the Rav4. Thanks for you insights.
Happy to help
The 2023 BMW X1 is about the same size, better seats, quicker, nimbler, roomy, better driver aids, quieter, and quicker delivery. And no dealer mark up, which means cost is comparable to RAV 4 even with options to make it the same. But half the gas mileage!

Nice review! Honest and to the point which is most helpful. We are looking to trade our 2019 Rav for a 2023 Hybrid. Our 2019 brings 25K on trade at our local Toyota dealer. Thanks
Some negatives about the Limited (trims that have the larger infotainment):
- The infotainment system itself is just...
All trims are uncomfortable

I waited for 18 months for my toyota Rav 4 Hybrid only to find in incomplete car which had increased in value by $7K and only supplied one key Fob. will Toyota be compensating disadvantaged Customers who were discriminated against by only supplying 1 key?
I only got one key too. Such an inconvenience. They say they will send another but who knows when.
No mention of the sunroof opening
Lumber support measure seat is smaller and uncomfortable. Hence, 2018 has more room 😂
The fact that the subwoofer rattles the hatch is a big pet peeve if you're an audiophile.
it was super annoying
@@dwnshft and for the prices we pay for vehicles, that's just not acceptable.
I noticed the rattle was the license plate. I bought a tinted cover with a rubber case and solved the issue
What about road noise? Freeway noise???
Love my Ruby Flair Pearl 2023 RAV4 XLE - what I hate you only get one key fob😡
TOYOTA RAV4 🙂👍🏻 Perfect Car for FAMILY
pretty much yeah
How are the front seats in terms of comfort? Would they be relatively comfortable on long road trips? Great video by the way!
Yeah the front seats were perfectly fine. There are more comfy seats out there but they’re in much more expensive cars
Thank you
i think it's fairly true to the EPA rating for the FWD - the AWD CRV underperforms the EPA a litte

Enjoy!

How’s this differ from RAV4 Prime?
prime is a full plugin
Prime isn't an all electric but it has a much bigger battery. You get up to 25 miles using electric only and then the gas motor takes over. That, and it just costs more.
They both are noisy and uncomfortable
@@psoup216 rav4 prime range can be as much as 47 miles, depending on driving conditions and driver behavior. The Prius prime range is 25 miles
Why did you not make a choice?

Rav4 way better than crv

The title of the video doesn't say anything about crv so why are we talking about it?
thought it was relevant as the CRV is the chief competitor and it's just released a brand new generation
@@dwnshft it’s very relevant but if the video is about comparing the crv to the rav4 the title should probably say that.
CRV looks premium and elegant.. which planet are you living .
Lifetime powertrain warranty ? Wow
lifetime powertrain warranty doesn't mean it's reliable. Dodge dealers used to offer those often. They have lots of restrictions, you have to get all your maintenance done at the dealer, they will rip you off on the maintenance which will more than make up any future repairs needed, if any...
my honda 2008 civic reachess 500k only changes battery and tyres change oil every 5kms
Yeah, I care a lot more about things like this than brake light styling. Hope to find a video that is more mechanical / reliability oriented.
I think you never knew/tried a Honda. Honda and Toyota are the most reliable ones.
Been going back and forth between the RAV4 and CR-V.. I think I’ve finally decided on the RAV4.. You just get so much more for the price than the CR-V… I do like the CR-V’s interior a little more, but damn. Such a hard decision.
RAV4 is a much nicer car.
Yup, was about to mention this
That's what I thought also......... I guess some people can't tell the difference.

Correct he gave wrong information in his review.🙄
Lol...ah no. I want the comfort now... I'm thinking the CRV will way outdo the rav4 in this.
I am happy to say I got my Rav4. Compared to CRV, Rav4 is far more attractive to me. I got the limited trim, same color as the reviewed car here. I was gonna get the XSE, thank God I got a good deal with the limited one. So far I am loving this car, no complains yet.
The rav4 and crv both have LED brake lights and both have incandescent turn signals
I had Camry hybrid 2022, now thinking about RAF 4 but ur comment made me realize that it's true. I feel like it's downgrade to buy RAF 4

In Consumer Reports they downgraded the Rav4 for having too much noise in the cabin. I test drove one and I didn't notice anything. But has your son mentioned that? Maybe they were just nitpicking.

My Mazda CX5 has the 40-20-40 split and I love it. So useful.
Good point. I'd like that myself
Incandescent taillights are the best. A fraction of the cost to replace bulbs than replace an LED. I prefer all lights to be NON LED.
The RAV4 costs way less, gets better gas mileage and Toyota has more experience with hybrids, unless you are a Honda fan, why would you buy a CRV ?
They are intentionally doing that.
Source...I am in the know.
Terrible black bezel on the entertainment screen ....i Guess Toyota Hates its customers ....why have all that dead screen real estate ?????
I believe with the Prime version you can drive EV mode as it should be; can anyone confirm that?
Yes…about 47 mile range, and as fast as 85 mph. But if driving that fast greatly reduces range

Very glad I could help 🙏
Does the panoramic sunroof also open?
I am not sure it has 3 electric motors. It has 2, one at the front with ecvt and one 49hp motor at the back
It has 3 electric motors. The power split hybrid synergy E-CVT front wheel drive uses 2 electric motors. The rear wheel drive uses 1 separate electric motor. 2 + 1 = 3. It is more correct to call them motor / generators
as they serve both roles in various modes of driving.
You are correct ✌ Thank you for the info.
I wanted to like the RAV4, but the back seat was a serious disappointment to me. It seems very flat and hard, and the cushion is shorter than in other vehicles I am considering. This leaves my very long legs with little support. Overall, the back seat feels like it is from a vehicle of a class lower than the rest of the vehicle.
interesting - what vehicle id you end up going with?
@@dwnshft I'm just at the ruling-in/ruling-out phase. At this time, my top contenders are Hyundai Tucson PHEV, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and the Hyundai Ioniq5. Different technologies, different pros/cons with all. Could change by the time I decide to buy.
@@julienowak1430 Julie I m sure you research a lot
Can u give reason for not putting rav 4 hybrid in ur list
@@rajendramodusu5980 the back seat was uncomfortable for me.
Scratch like motha….
How about price is the worst thing
I find you a bold faced liar.
C r v seems to be so much more comfortable.... Which older people will pay for?
Not sure what market you are in, but around Boston and New England the midgrade trim of both vehicles is right around the $35k mark.
Ordered my limited in April 2022 and it was delivered in Marck 2023
I like the storm trooper look. Hopefully they make it look better for 2024
That is a great comparison about the look. I am a fan of Star Wars but that is not the look I want for my automobile design.
Is this a review or a comparison to the CRV? Not really a concise review here
Things I hate about my 2021 Rav4 Hybrid.
Best part of the video is What you can’t get in the CRV. Keep it coming!!!!
