dude your videos are so imformative, ive been watching them like im in TFSI 101 and just moved on to TFSI theory. keep the instructional videos coming!
Im an FSI guy .. but I have learned so much from your work. . Note .. there is a pretty good FSI to TSFI fuel pump conversion i would like you to look at designed by iAbed Inc. Also I need to know where did you get your turbo blanket.. i haven't found one that covers the exhaust manifold properly.. thanks for your wisdom and support..
We FSI guys need to find a Naptown Tuner for the EA113 platform. I’m interested in the TSI cam follower conversion too. I noticed that the kit sometimes comes with a new HPFP spring and sometimes it’s not listed in the Included parts, depending on retailer. There’s also a video of GTI with a really loud knocking sound from the HPFP area after the kit install and comments say the same thing with their cars.
@@headstrong6523 Hell yea 👍My b7 is at 133k. I was having oil pressure warning, ended up replacing the oil pump assembly with an balance shaft delete sprocket. Its back in business for now.
Great video.. hmmm I had no idea that vac pump was basically a wankel design.. with the wipers acting as the piston or lobes to create the vacuum.. that was a great video.. I suspect those wiper seals need a thin layer of oil to make a perfect seal.. and a clogged screen will prevent that seal and thus probably won’t have sufficient vacuum? I didn’t know that the HPFP got its lubrication from the vac pump.. dude you’re a serious source of information.. like I say, best educational videos for 2.0 t out there.. thanks keep em coming..
I can't believe that vac pump vane is plastic. I'm guessing these wear out on the regular. Better stock up on those before they stop making them and the car becomes obsolete. I love how nothing is made to last anymore.
Thank goodness the Tiguan has East West engine. Fixing a persistent oil leak on vac pump I found the lower mount bolt was stripped in the head. In the end I had to helicoil all three as a second one went getting to 10Nm on the second reinstall. Someone must have been heavy before. Be very careful on the torque. At least I could drill and helicoil easily in situ on Tiguan otherwise a disaster. Be careful also if you've had an oil leak on an older engine. The plastic block coolant fitting below crumbled to dust when I tried to wipe it. It was ready to let go and had been weeping (I thought it was water pump) and I found it by accident. Always change that fitting if you are there as it hates heat and oil.
U have educated us so much on our volkswagon cc 2.0 turbo. Thanku for ur videos. Just a quick question if u open the time chain box will does it thriw the timing off if u never touched the chain??
Thank you so much for the well done video. I removed the valve cover to redo my seal. After putting it back, I noticed there was a leak at the vacuum pump. Upon further inspection, I notice a little, perhaps 5 thousandth, offset between the valve cover and the cylinder head body. I loose the cover, having it lifted a little, and try to reposition without much luck. The short cut way I am tempted is to use permatex on top of the tri-ply gasket to seal the pump. What do you think? Appreciate your input.
I fixed the leak by replacing the old gasket with the OEM (Three plies instead of a single piece that I got from Amazon) There are 2 little strips of blue silicon around the area of the cam tray and cylinder head.
Not talking about that test pipe eh? Is that a funk Motorsports k03 blanket? Was looking into purchasing one. I don’t have test pipes I have an ecs hfc though
Dog keep it up. Any ideas on a ticking from cam adjuster, sporadic oil pressure light, also has a cam not hitting set point on intake cam. And knock sensor signal to high code.. I just got the car. Any direction u could point me in would be nice. Lol thanks again.
I have question I have a 2009 audi a4 quattro 8.5... my waterpump is not spinning. The belt that spins it is good. I replaced everything thinking that was my reason for over heating, even did head gasket leak test. Then I thought to check and see if the pump was even being spun and it was not. What is the cause and how to fix?
Ive watched a bunch of your videos. If you delete the vacuum pump, and pull a tradition brake booster vacuum. How would it act in boost pressure? I noticed the car doesnt like brake boosting because it cuts throttle response if you are on the brakes and throttle at the same time. Im adding my own cheap oil catch can and had the same questions about how it will react under boost pressure. I plan to simply split the pcv line to the the intake and use a catch can. Unless you have a better suggestion for where to put it. I see the turbo pulls from the pcv also and considered running a catch can on that side also
It’s not worth it, I tried it and never got it to work. You could try as well but won’t get a benefit in my opinion. Just keep it the way it is until you can sell it and get a 3.0t if you want more power.
@@NaptownTuner i imagined it wouldnt be worth messing with but was curious. Im replacing my upper timing cover because of an oil leak. I know its leaking there for sure, the filter housing may also be leaking. The block side, i dont think its the adapter to cooler leaking. It could all be from the upper timing cover for all i know. Do you seen those o rings leak very often, in the oil filter housing to block
@@NaptownTuner its pouring out of the top cover. Oil is all over the left side of the block. All the way to the crank sensor, so idk if i have more than one oil leak. I pressured washed the engine, my cover and seal will be here tomorrow and ill go from there. Its either the filter housing and or cooler, or the oil separater by that engine mount. Coolant is fine and stable, oil isnt milky. Appreciate the no bs videos man. Not much info on this oil filter housing and even less on the oil separater out there. Im glad there is room to work on this engine. I looked at an s6 i believe for sale with the 4.2 but removing the engine for oxygen sensors seemed a but to much for me.
I have a question. I did a cylinder leakage test on cylinder 4. Found no leak on intake, exhaust, oil filler, dipstick and reservoir but leaking on cylinder 3 spark plug hole. Is this normal. Also have zero compression on cylinder 4.
Hey man , is the camshaft the same thing as the valve cover gasket ? I just had the valve cover gasket replaced on my 2013 b8 & the dealership said that my vacuum pump & the camshaft need to b replaced but now from getting educated from your videos I believe my oil leak is only coming from the vacuum pump ..
Question, you made 2 videos before about HPFP problem with the code P2188, i have a p0172 system too rich, my long term fuel trim is -8 and if i clear codes the short term is -25, it runs rough only at idle until the engine is hot, could it be the HPFP? or do you have another idea? btw, i checked for vacuum/boost leaks is all good there, injectors all good, no other fault codes.

No issue with timing, but you might cause an oil leak at the upper cover by removing it for inspection. CCTA owner by first hand experience.
Would it be a stupid idea to leave that screen out to avoid a blockage in the future? Any feedback is appreciated
Can the vacuum pump cause low oil, pressure sign and make engine noise?
Man mine looks gold on the inside. Almost looks like burnt oil. Car has 158k mile.
Will a clogged screen in the car pump cause low oil pressure in the engine?
Not likely, but clogged screens on the balance shafts definitely will turn on low oil pressure light. CCTA owner by first hand experience.
I just got the 2014 VW cc with the 2.0T engine, is this the same engine?
What if vac pump installed without the screen..? Will engine loose oil pressure..?
I found a screen on top of the screen in the vacuum pump. Possibly from the cam bridge? Somebody has been in my engine before. Signs everywhere
