I saw "Electric Dreams" when it was in the theaters originally - it combined my two favorite loves - computers and music. I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and was so happy to find it on VHS back in the late 90's. Unfortunately, due to a fire I lost it.. and mourned the loss since they never released it on DVD in the US. Thankfully, I found a UK version which I was able to digitize into my NAS and eliminate the regional codes along with the PAL vs. NTSC conversions!
This has always been one of my favorites and helped shaped my life - after this, I went to London School of Music for my first degree, and then (through the US Navy) completed my degree in computer science and electrical engineering. This movie was waaaaay ahead of it's time, predicting digital music, the internet, smart homes, etc. I wish more people knew about it. Still one of my very favorites (especially since I just finished watching it tonight, almost 35 years after it came out)!

@@0_1_2 Wow - I wrote this response to you earlier, but either I made a mistake or RUclips had a hiccup...
Do you feel better for being a "superior" dick for having nothing to say that would contribute something positive? Of course, that would have required you having some sort of foundation behind your statement that would have shown you were on the side of truth. It would have worked much better if you would have been accurate in your statements instead of assumptions. This movie came out in 1984; a full TWO YEARS before DNS was created, which means that the few networks that existed at that time were anchored by a couple of universities that participated in the research and were the descendants of the original ARPAnet. DNS is considered the first step on the road to what we consider the internet. At least, that's what they were teaching when I was going through architecture and engineering technologies instead of sleeping or "watching movies."
Perhaps instead of being a less-than-stellar-dick, you could offer some positive feedback - whether it be criticism in my post, or questioning, or even querying for some real education. Being positive always is much more stress-free and will help your heart-rate and overall physical health; quite frankly, you don't have the knowledge or meat to be a dick.
When you get out of your parent's basement, I wish you the best in life and that you learn stuff before you criticize in such a way.

Ah, the '80s. I think I'm starting to understand why so many of us are nostalgic for that decade - there was so much potential that had yet to be fully realized. Now it seems people are beginning to think we've reached our limit. I suppose such people don't fully appreciate how much further we can go, if we are but brave enough to dare. 😎

No dude. The 80's felt great because the West acted like we could thrive on infinite resources, while the rest of the world was left behind - out of sight though, so no problem. But there is no such thing as a free lunch. Sooner or later someone will have to pay, and we are struggling just to push that moment forward on.

I saw this when I was 11. Our school acquired Apple computers in 1983. I was learning to program in a gifted class...3rd grade.. BASIC, COBOL. A radio station had a call-in contest. We had a super-fast redial button! I won tickets and my older sister took me to the theater. It was great on the big screen. Unforgettable. I re-watched it yesterday at 50 with our son. Hello AI! I was a little creeped out by Mikes. Why did he lie to her at first? Awkward insecure...but, a good heart.
