They grinded and welded it with the glass tool in so all the sparks on the glass the need to replace . That's why it showed with no glass.

200 hours? So 2 long weeks work and you'd split another 45k, just can't understand why you wouldn't just get it done. You know it so well you'd do it quicker than anyone else and it's an icon of your channel.

Honestly given the amount of work having been put in and the level of quality of the workmanship, I would put this through a classic car auction. There will be a queue of people waiting to get their hands on this.

Struggling to understand this one. It feels like spending a solid 2-3 weeks on it will yield you approx. £40k. I don’t think the 3-4 flips or salvage rebuilds you’d do in the same time will yield the same. Even 1 day a week maybe ?

I like many, was hoping we could have seen this beautiful car brought back to life. Many of us started watching this channel in its early days and I certainly felt almost an emotional attachment to this old girl. Its a consequence of success not to finish it, but I am also enjoying the ongoing varied content, lets be mindful of the very fact that these guys are running a business in the first instance and as such. Considering their successes so far, we have to be pretty confident that they know what they are doing!

Disappointing to see you guys ditching this one, would have been one of the best rebuilds from all your videos, but you guys concentrate more on the average day to day cars, I think if you actually concentrated more on such classics like you did with the rs turbo s1, you will get a lot more support on your channel, sad to see you guys not take this one to the end.

    • @TheRetroBiker

    • @davesclassicgaragetours
      @davesclassicgaragetours 11 месяцев назад +1

@@NicksGarageUk agreed, classics are niche despite what people in the YT game think. You have to bring a name to YT to get any real traction aka Harry Metcalfe or Jonny Smith or do crazy deals and flip things quick like Hoovies Garage, or simply have high turnover of vids like Hubnut/JayEmm/No27 to see half decent viewing figures with classics. It's strange how a channel built up through bent Fiat 500, Fiestas and work vans works so well but it's as much about personality and R&C have that in spades.

I think its a massive shame its never got finished. Whilst i appreciate the viewing figures for the work undertaken weren't huge - even getting it sorted quietly in some manner off camera so to speak would have ultimately reaped financial rewards - im sure a bodyshop outside your locality could have come up trumps with getting it repainted and fitted up in return for some active promotion and updates on the channel. I totally get that there is a sweet spot in viewer stats as per how many episodes a project takes and that Range Rover dates from the 'rookie' period of the when you were working out your formula as the dynamic duo!
I just hope it gos to a deserving owner who will see the car right - and not waste all the hard work you've both put in to it - we all know what its worth when fully completed 👍👍.

It is great to have achieved all that you did in one day even when rain stopped play. As Chris said there is still quite a bit to do but the important thing to say is you Gents have done the lion's share of the work already. Honestly if I had somewhere to put it and better health I would so enjoy doing that car. I hope that someone with a passion for classics takes on this project. It is not so much about the money for me (though that is useful) it is more that another classic has been saved. I know you would love to finish it Rob but first and foremost you need to make a living so time to move it on. Thanks for the video and have a good weekend Rob and Chris. 👍👍

I am not a Land Rover fan at all, but it was an interesting project that I enjoyed following, but sometimes priorities change and I think you guys are doing the right thing, all the really difficult work has been done, and all the major work that requires specialist tools as well... this would be a great project for someone that does not have access to that but has the skill to do the finishing touches... 5k is a fair price and a bit more sweat equity this will be a nice example for someone to use and enjoy.

Lovely to see it again and I can see why it has to be this way , If you got it running again and bearing in mind what it could be worth I wonder whether Mathewsons off the telly would be interested ?

It's a shame you wont get to finish this one as it's from the start of the channel, from the dodgy music people moaned about to the coining of your catchphrase "let's get involved"😂 great couple of lads right there can I get a job 😂😂😂. I should of done a channel too but in my workplace it's far too busy and I do very similar work much respect.

An honest approach to something that you can't finish unfortunately that's the nature of the beast success time and money

When I first saw this today, could this be my Range Rover I last saw in 2007. Mine was the same colour but a 3.9 V8 Auto from 1990 a G reg. It was the best vehicle I have ever driven and it took me on my longest drive of 650 miles over 11 hours from Norwich to the north of Inverness. Being petrol I got just 22 mpg. As I hate big steering wheels, it had a deep dish 13" one!! It also had a new upper tailgate. It performed well in all snowy Highland weather and even went to Skye and North Uist on a holiday. A beast for all weathers. I wish I had still kept it for today. Instead I now have a Rover 45 IXS 2003 that as a second owner I have had for 14 years. Great to drive and has been back to the Highlands from Norwich.

Watched the channel since the Ferrari days and seen every video. I think you're making the right choice. I think auction is the best plan. Reserve of 5k plus whatever fees youd incur then see how it goes.

wow what a shame your not going to get it finished as if you did that would be worth some money at the end of it so I guess your both doing the right thing and let someone else take the job on another cracking video guys and enjoy the weekend 💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍

Time is the enemy for us all guys, sometimes you just have to say let someone else have the pleasure of finishing the job, I’m sure it was a difficult decision for you both, nice post

Just wondering why if it's worth so much finished you wouldn't put the hours in to get it done? Is your heart just not in this one? I don't see the advantage of fixing some generic car over this. Or do you estimate numbers of hours to complete vs expected profit? Doesn't bother me, I'm no fan of the LSE, just curious to your decision.

I’m guessing they will earn more from RUclips figures on other cars which are quicker to do. The lse never got massive views on its videos

@@bevangarner ooh, makes sense, as I thought the LSE was actually popular. Perhaps only popular to a few who keep asking about it.

That's a bargain. Hopefully someone will put it back on the road and not take the easy route and sell for parts. I realise you guys are good kind caring people and take my hat off to you for not profiteering 😊

This is the only SRUK video I couldn’t watch. You’re throwing away a good profit, and I feel like you’ve given in…sometimes it should be about the content and not the hassle. Gutted.

I remember the police bringing a Range Rover like that to my primary school in the 70’s with big blue lights that rose up into the air on an extending pole.
Always wanted one after that. Never got one though.
Then I wanted a Porsche before I was 40. Never did that either.
    I’m 50 now and drive a Volvo.
Love your vids. More than any other subscription in fact.
Please restore the Fiat Panda from the auction. My first car was a Panda, and was 90% polyfiller when I sold it.

Like others have said, try and sell it to another RUclips channel who can use it as the basis of a full restoration, then we can follow its progress on there.

Fully with you guys about moving it on. I think that price is really good as it is. Like you state. What's the point keeping it if you don't have the time to finish it. If you did keep it. It would just deterioate over another 3/5 years of storage.
