Sorry forgot to mention this auction is live now so you can see how they are all doing online here www.hobbsparker.co.uk/car-auctions/? 👌👍
38:14 : Yep. Sunny 'PULSAR' GTi-R. Great Car Rob. Fastest (Stock) hot hatch going back in its day I would imagine. Quality SR20DET Engine from back when Nissan still made good reliable cars. Before Renault got involved basically. I had a P11 Primera GT with the SR20D engine back in the day. That wasn't Turbo though, Still the 2nd best normally aspirated engine I know of.
The Honda K20 series obviously wins the Number one position in that competition.
Cortina's a Mk5 guys, Mk4 had smaller tail lights, different grille and different bumper end caps but was same shape body. 👍
I remember watching you lads when Chris didn’t even like been on camera not he’s a natural and an absolute pleasure to watch.
Pace of your walkabout just right, just love these auction video's
I love the way Chris has come out of his shell and we’re seeing his real personality, love his dry humour and of course his extensive knowledge not only of cars but the building work that’s being undertaken around the farm
Mk5 cortina! They had curved around the wing front indicator’s and the Mk4 didn’t
Didn't spill the coffee on someone, s pride and joy ! Phew !
Ha ha that Vauxhall Victor got Chris written all over it, similar to one my dad owned in the late 70s 😊 great video lads love to see the old motors reminds me of me and my dads tinkering days together ❤
Certainly has, very tidy. I had an F and an FC.
Just a quick post before I get into watching the rest of the vid... But remember when Chris never spoke & now he's selling bobble hats 😂
My wife bought a 2009 defender five years ago. Its worth £5000 more than she paid for it, and boy does she bang on about it.
I'd be afraid to leave a defender unattended....stolen everyday.
@@phildunne2632 you r on the money there my mate had to of them taken and never seen a gen
Good Morning Rob
Sell it while it's still in one piece !
Sell it and take the extra £5k while you still can. Wont be long before insurance companies either won't touch them or make the quotes ridiculously high to stop you taking a policy out
Nice one lads, nearly an hour Rob we're not complaining 👍👍
51 minutes of pure joy - my mum had the Fiesta 1.4S then got the XR2 before I started to learn to drive. Let’s say I got into a lot of bother with the plod once I passed my test, constantly pulled over. Never crashed it though 🙈🙈
That Vauxhall Victor has Chris's name on it. Lovely car.
My brother built a Lotus 7 kit for a young chap called Martin Lilly; brother went onto to have a TVR dealership. But had a feeling all was not right with them, Martin approached him about ordering a new one. But Ken put him off as he thought TVRs were going bust. A week later Ken was at TVRs and there was Martin and his dad, they had not bough a car, they bought TVRs.
Kens accountant had a pair of Healey 3000, one for daily use the second he rallied it at weekends.
But going around the action brought back memories of all the cars I drove back in the 60s and 70s. All great fun, so thanks for that. Have lots of stories about cars, films I worked on, and car adds.
That Renault 5 looked lovely that interior looked ahead of its time
The Cortina is a mark 5. The big rear lights denote it. Only a fairly basic model a no rev counter.
They were very nice when they came out.
46:02 : They will be a market for that Peugeot Lads.. It's got that French Cafe Culture Vibe. Hipsters love that kind of stuff and of course usually have rich parents to pay for such things.
That cortina was mk5, the mk4 ran upto 1980 then the mk5 was actually called the 1980 model, rather than a mk5.
At 5:12 'What bike is that?' - I think it's an NSU Quickly. My mate had one when we were teenagers in the 1960s. I had a Kerry Capitano which was a very similar beast and the one next to the NSU looks vaguely familiar.
I had one in that colour. It was a n A reg I think.
Great video guys, the cortina is a Mk5 due to the front indicators sweeping around the side of the car. Plus the Reg plate X. Had a 1.6 Ghia X back in the day. Keep up the good work.
And the larger rear light cluster 😉
The scruffy little bike Rob is a Mobylette 50cc 1961.....I was made in 1950 and my old mum had one when I was eleven mate.
Sorry can’t watch this anymore, as your refusing to tell us the estimate on half the cars, should be a crime against humanity. I’m done. Good luck with the channel
Chris needs the Vaxhall Victor in his life, it looks like a nice car. Just for info the rubber bumper MG's can and have been converted to chrome by people who don't like the rubber, I don't like the rubber either. If you are thinking of buying a classic anyone go for it life is too short! The Mini Traveller will be Ash wood and the wood is not structural unlike the Morris Minor Traveller which is. A Morris Minor would be a good classic to buy if your wanting to get into classics. Great video Rob and Chris it was not too long and the pace was just right, thank you. 👍👍
As far as I know the Jimney is still made just all this rubbish about emissions means they can’t be sold as a car but a loophole allows them to be imported in van form. So folk who would have been happy with a small 4x4 as a car now have to buy a great massive thing that needs blue coloured water in the tank to bodge the emissions testing 🤣🤣🤣
What a cracking trip down memory lane for an hour on a Sunday morning. Spot on 👍
Winding the window up on the beetle shows your respect for people's cars Rob. Top man. Tip top.
Can’t believe you ignored the Hyundai pony.
Perfect informative walk around. Something for everybody. Don't change. You sound like kids in a sweetshop.
Rob: don't walk past the scooby Chris, Rob: its got 136,00 miles , Chris: got some legs on this 136,000 miles , Rob: has it really lol pmsl short term memory loss
buy the fiesta 1.4S rob you never see a mk2 fiesta on the road, let alone the 1.4S
Just bought the Beanie Hat for myself 🎉
Nice one lads,Chris’s bid I reckon will be the cortina or the Vauxhall victor 😊
The red Cortina is a Mk5 lads, and you can tell the difference between the Mk4 and Mk5 by the front indicaters. The ones on the Mk4 are square and flat to the front of the car. The ones on the Mk5 curve round into the front wing 👍
Mk 5 had the higher roof line, though they kept the lower roof on the estate shell..
Cortina is a mk5 long rear lights and wrap around front indicators , you should know that
I was just about to say the same...front indicators dead give away mk5😊
Ooh, hark at her.
@@stevekelly5166 I had a couple , my uncle had a 2.3s mk4 in white and he ragged it to pieces
Rob, Red Cortina was a Mk5 not a 4, easy teĺl by the Wrap Around Bumber End Caps , came out on a W Plate.
There Wasnt s Sunny GTIR Rob or a GT..Sportiest was a 3Dr Coupe .Suñny was Replacedwithvthe Almera mid 90s
Lovely to see the Old ones still Surviving , but very rare to see the TR7s Now ..nice Vid
Hello fella. Think mk5 came out on a V plate and Ford called it the Cortina 80 and have seen one on a A plate 👍
@@karlwilkinson9410 Def come out on a W, Our Bodyshop was one if the 1st to Bodyshell one for the Insurance
That red cortina is a mk5 i think ?
It is you can tell by the indicators and the mirrors.
@@colinappleton4815 and the wrap around indicators and bumpers
The red Cortina was a Mk5, not a Mk4. The Mk 5's had a different grille, bigger windows, different front indicator lights, rear light clusters and bigger seats. The Mk 5 was sold from late '79. I had a Mk4, S reg 2.0GL and a V reg Mk5 2.0GL. They were both ex company cars. The Mk4 was much livelier than the Mk5 and I had 100+ out of it. I wish I had kept it it was in the really nice Midnight Blue. Ford gave the Mk5 the name 'Cortina 80', but everyone called it a Mk5!
Nice enough video…. Very frustrating the guys have very little knowledge of classic cars… but they are likeable and unassuming so get away with it….
I'll bet that Vauxhall is on Chris's hit list...!!!
Hi guys for those of us old enough that was the vaxhalĺ cars used in the tv series Z CARS
I couldn't say no Victor ever appeared anywhere in Z Cars, but the patrol cars were Ford Zephyrs, initially Mark 2s and then Mark 3s.
Hi Andy yes I believe you are right must be a age thing thanks
That Renault 5 is lovely, that’s something I didn’t think I would ever say!
My first car was a mark one cortina 1500 gt. MMG529C. Cost me two hundred quid. Insurance was ninety seven pounds third party fire and theft. Great fun. Impressed the young ladies!
is it a Etype ??? really ???? lol
I used to have a Cortina 1600, an Austin Maxi 1750 and a Daimler Jag but haven't see any of them yet on your channel. I remember the Daimler Jag needed a new head gasket but the dealer in Coventry wouldn;t touch it so I got a garage in Birmingham to do it for me.
Aarhhhhh! How much money was the Maserati guys c’mon! Best car there by a country mile…… frustrating!!!
I'm a million miles from being a diesel head...but I love your content just because you come across as a pair of really nice genuine blokes...Good luck to you both...credit to Kent if I'm not mistaken.
A pleasant walk around cheers chaps
Some amazing cars, loved the ford cortina, exactly the same as my dads when I was growing up and the fiesta 1.4 sport which I owned for a few years, then sold it to my mum and then my brother, great cars!
MK5 Cortina Plastic bumpers! showing my age had MK4 2.3 Ghia & 20GL estate, great minicabs
The Renault 5 Monaco. I could possibly have seen that car when it was Brand New.
I grew up in the house that was right next door to the original Renault Dealer in Llanrhystud.
Volvo 940 and 240 for me! Had a 1989 240GLT auto estate in 2009 for £350 and kept it for 10 years as my daily driver. Ran perfect and sold in 2018 for £500 at 234,000miles. Now have a 1996 Volvo 940 LPT Auto estate the last 6 years. Paid £250 and runs great at 209,000 miles. Just got AC working and rebuilt the front suspension. My work van.
Hi Rob and Chris, a good paced look around. Some interesting stuff there this time guy's. Alex
The Maserati is a Quattroporte III. Maserati engine (basically the V8 used on the Bora, and other older Maseratis). Not many of them were made, although they were in production for quite a long time.
Hello Rob and Chris , great little video. Some cars I remember from the 70’s and 80’s. I have ordered a hat, just in time for winter. May even wear it in the house when I’m watch your videos. 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
A strange mix of classics, non ulez classics. The mgc had a Healey straight 6 3.0 in it and were known for being bad on corners.
Every car auction rob that's clean Chris yeah it is. Rob very very noice Chris shame its not a so and so 😂 great video guys
"there's no excuse for anyone not to have a classic" I agree.
Fit an android large screen radio to satisfy young people.
Hi rob and Chris, great video lad's, brought back good memories of some of the car's i used to have. From marty in Belfast northern Ireland ps how much is the wee hat's
There’s that phrase “It’s really clean” ! - I remember in the last auction review there were many “clean” cars !! I am going to count how many times that phrase comes up ? Anyone for a sweepstake ??
Great video guys.
Suggestion. I would like to se more so why not split the video into to parts, Wednesday and Thursday.
Yes, all the early minis had a floor start, my Mother had a 1959 Austin seven mini, the first in Brighton. Tarmac stones used to get stuck in the floor starter and to free it you had to drop in in 1st gear and rock the car backwards and forwards. My guess on the row of Rollers and Bentleys could be too expensive to run!!!
Really enjoy your tours. Cheers, Bob
Would be to late tomorrow bud the auction starts at 12 today and runs untill tomorrow 👍
Mathewsons auctions in Thornton le Dale are bigger than this. They have auctions every month. They maybe worth getting your passport out rob and crossing the border at Watford gap .😅
We asked them some time ago if we could view a few vehicles that we were interested in and film our visit. Unfortunately they said no. Chris visited them last year while on holiday in Yorkshire and it was still a no.
@@sruk what a pity. It is probably because they have their own TV programme. They are only 1 hour from me. They appear really friendly on the TV. That would have been fantastic content for your channel.
TV channel probably has an exclusivity deal.
@peterforrest5181 Sadly, it would appear so.
I was loving that old vauxhall victor FB , I learnt to drive in one back in 1971 😀
The Victor for Chris me thinks
Escort van ended 2001 ,it was due to finish in 2000 but its replacemnt was due to be built in turkey but there was an earthquake and the new factory collapsed so the build carried on in a small building out the back at halewood it went on for 14 months.
Please don’t look at a car and don’t tell us the price….. it’s flipping torture chaps 29:53
Brothers from another mother ye lads love the show as always Top classy cars don’t get them that clean in here in Ireland
Great cars there loved the way Chris kept on going back to the Range Rover! Beautiful cars there and now have a hat bought for the lovely winter that’s on its way
Just as you said ‘what would you like to see’ you skipped past my old scirocco haha. Great video lads
Chris likes a 60s Vauxhall, think that FB Victor is on the list, I had 1 years ago, sold it for £60 😂
I'd be bankrupt if I was at that auction. There is some very nice stuff there.....
Loving the mini 1275Gt …. Back in the day great cars
Had a little chuckle at Robs "there's always a couple of midgets in the show"
Why take a coffee into someone else's car?
Am sure that's a mk5 cortina, mk 5 had the rectangle rear lights Mk 4 had the square rear lights !
My idea of a good day out. If I could buy one my 1st choice would be the Triumph 2000.
My first car was a red, 1969, manual Ford Cortina complete with walnut trimmed dashboard. Epic fun thrashing about Topanga Canyon, Malibu and Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).
I reckon Chris wants the vauxhall and the mg Lot 991(ROV 754G) outside, and rob will bid on the fiesta 1.4s.. 🤔
I was screaming to look at the bluebird 😂 Thanks 👌
I had a sales rep 30,000 miler Bluebird estate only 18 months old. I just loved that motor drove it for 8 years then did a re ring and bearings on the engine, drove it into the ground till it rusted away as Nissans almost always did lol. That example must have been garaged all its life and never taken out if rain was in the offing lol. Nice example.
This sort of vid being long is good, get to see a lot more, see how rolling with nearly 300k subs brings in the coffee.., lol😂
Rob thanks for taking us to the Auction some great cars please keep this on your channel😊.
That green Impreza didn't have the look of a genuine WRX...
That red cortina was a Mk5. The MK4 had the smaller rear lights on it and the front indicators are slightly different and the roof was slightly smaller 🙂. Great video as always Rob and Chris 👍
Loved that fiesta 1.4s - my 1st car D 667 SKA : still driving an under the radar car now : MG4
I'd be happy if you spent all day there, especially with Chris imparting all his knowledge. Great video, thank you.
The Red Cortina is a Mk5. Great watch
Wow, that 1.4 S festa. Had one back in day great cars . Nippy.
Proper Rare now! .if that goes for that money a steal ..
The fiesta
(And it’s got it’s numbers in it)
No battery acid or power file marks 😂😂😂😂
rob you should buy that fiesta 1.4 s would go very nice with your escort
Love the video guy keep em 😮❤️🎥🎦😉😍😀😁😂
My dad had the Vauxhall Victor the same as that. The gear change was on the steering wheel stalk I think and I remember it coming off in his hand!
Similar happened to me....A mate had the big Rover 100 and the gear shift pivoted from a linkage on the floor...It all came undone and the lever and all the linkage was flopping about in his hand....Around 1968/69 ish. LOL
@@MalcDavison lol yes a shock
Enjoy these a lot every time you go round. Thanks guys!🤙
Just wondering if that moped was an NSU quickly they were painted in what they called dove grey
Lovely old FB Victor. The VX 490 had a square plate. My dad had a VX in the late 60s
That Cortina was a MKV, the MKIV had a much smaller rear light cluster and X Reg was defo MKV.
hey chaps i drive a compact 2004 as a classic (future) they needed to be included LOL
Cars with style not the boring uninteresting cars that are made today.
Mk5 cortina wider rear lights and black plastic grill on front
Hi lads, ordered by beeny hat, thanks. Great channel and videos.
That's a great trip out, dahn the auctions, bacon sarnie and a brew. Liked the longer video 👍
Remember when I was doing my apprenteship in a garage they had a mini with a button start on the floor in 1972
