For me this is the best auction review you have done to date. Your ‘short and snappy’ approach to discussing each of the cars you chose to review meant that you covered a lot of ground and it kept me interested all the way to the end. The 34 minutes flew by in the best way possible 😂👍
Thank you so much. Praise indeed!
Sorry, disagree. I would prefer less detail and cover more cars. Also, too many of the same models when there are so many other interesting cars there. Don’t need to see every Mini and Capri. Walked straight past the Rapier which is very rare these days.
Gratitude to the seller giving proceeds to Prostate Cancer Charity. If you're in your 50s, get a test. It may be silently lurking but if you catch it before it breaks out, life can go on and all the more sweeter. Talking from first hand experience.
Completely agree, my brother was diagnosed at 59, me at 63, please guys ask your doc for a PSA test, check it every year(at least), they said it’s the most treatable cancer in men, we’ve both survived.
Thank you to the car donor.
2 noble prizes were given to otto Warberg 1 for discovering the cause and 1 for discovering the cure. Hypoxia causes cells too mutate and survive on glucose rather than die.(cancer) depriving cancer of glucose(keto) and plenty of oxygen cures. Cancer is a business. Red pill people didn't take the shot
A former co-worker was diagnosed with prostate cancer only a few months after retirement and now it has spread to his back as well :(
And if there’s family history, get tested from 40yrs old onwards (also speaking from experience ☹️).
get tested chaps, I was lucky by getting random health check at 41 and finding it...
Big fan of the ‘Jonny does metcalf’ auction tours. More please
Good Morning Jonny. I own a Rover P6 and drove it to Rustival last week (270 miles round trip) without missing a beat (with hand controls as I'm a paraplegic).. I'll be there on Saturday at the NEC.. (Phil)
'Rustival'! thats hilarious! haven't heard of that. Someone needs to do a review there
Love that rare Clio Williams in its fabulous known blue color + golden wheels .
23:10 I had a Mk1 Y reg metro turbo back in the 80's.
Thrashing round the lake district back lanes ahhhhh
Never wanted to sell it but with two young kids i was convinced to purchase a four door car.....a Triumph Acclaim! I walk away in shame
Red xr2 fiesta was a model I drove as a community nurse in Essex…happy days
Love these auction reviews! Although a lot of these cars are ‘new’ to me, the enthusiastic, knowledgable descriptions put me right there in the hunt. Beauty!
Just love the Rover P6, my parents had 2, remember sat in them outside pubs with a Coke & packet of crisps on many an evening!
My mate's Granma bought a new Avenger Alpine in the 70s. It was sparkly green with a tawny vinyl roof. We (by which I mean me in the passenger seat) raced it against our other mate whose dad had bought a Chrysler Valiant VH, or VJ maybe? Anyway, it was a drag race and now at 65 years of age (young buck) I remember the Avenger kicking arse. Twice. And then we took it to the dirt and thrashed it. The Valiant driver never got over the defeat and complained endlessly about his 3 speed column change. Love from NZ.
Good on the guy selling the the P6 and donating the proceeds to prostate cancer, my dad is fighting it atm
I have cancer if anyone can help me get back on the road it would be greatly appreciated.
Would like to have seen the P1800 next to the Jensen. The rear quarter paint work looked excellent.
Nice to see an Avenger! My parents bought a blue Avenger station wagon in 1973 (Irish plate OEI 59, if it's still around). I remember we used to fold all the seats down so us four kids could lay sleeping bags sideways across the car when we were traveling back to Dublin from Sligo late at night. Cool car, and very basic inside.
Made my day seeing the Datsun Skyline 240KGT , I remember been a 10 years old going with my Dad to pickup our brand new Skyline I loved that car , ours was Gold & Brown 2 tone reg ACP340V. At about 4 months old rust was showing on the bumpers , Dad took it back to Sandal motors and was told it must have been on top of the ship and it was caused by the weather and sea air coming over. Off hand from Dad ordering it we picked it up within 6 weeks. Roadhouse is a real let down watched it last night the original Patrick Swayze is 1 of my all time favourite films .
My mum had that MG Metro Turbo in 1985. She had it in black. I was a kid so I thought the green LED turbo bar gauge was so cool. But apparently it was a total lemon and she got her money back after a few weeks. Replaced it with a spanky silver Pug 205 GTI which she absolutely loved for years.
Love your show watching you the last few years thanks Denis from Ireland 🇮🇪
Great walk round there Jonny. Would have loved to hear more about the red Alfa GTV/Junior next to the 7 series BMW. These were great cars the 105 series.
Always enjoy your no bullshit presentations.
The Mitsuoka was in The Grand Tour, Jeremy's partner auctioned it off for charity at Diddly Squat. Prior to that it was owned by my wifes uncle who's a very well known classic car auctioneer.
Haven't seen a Calibra for years; forgot thet existed! Coupes were all the rage back then with the Probe, 406 coupe, Corrado, etc.
Criminal to ignore the Lotus Elite! So few left in roadworthy condition, and that one looked mint!
Yay, good to see you at the show where alot of youtubers are this weekend 😊👍🇮🇪
I was having some flashbacks to 1989 when you were standing by a Chrysler Conquest TSI. I was working at a Chrysler dealer and we had a red one like that in the showroom. I got to take it for fuel pre-delivery and it was so fun to drive.
I live the Jonny late break show auction previews 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent review and I was pleasantly surprised to see you take the time out for the XJS refresh! So often, you see them in the background and nobody ever stops to say anything about it. On the road, however, they start conversations everywhere!
A great look at the Auction Jonny, remember seeing a few of these cars when I was down at the NEC in March.
Hi Jonny. Followed an "Overfinch " back from a visit to the county classics motor museum in Taunton on Sunday. That V8 Capri looked to be a converted RS 3100 .....sacriledge ! And how that mini pickup was awarded with such a high score heaven knows . Just to be picky , that P6 being donated for prostate research was in Mexico Brown . Russet was used on the B.L range. Thanks Jonny
Love these previews Jonny, the avenger had the 'blanking plates' on the rear wings where the old models rear clusters where , always looked 'lazy' to me of 'Talbot' , but i expect the cost of a new body shell was too much , so these end caps where the next best thing !
So many names that bring back so many memories, Tickford , overfinch, alpine , and that 4x4 calebra !
Great video 😊
That V8 Capri is lovely
A mini pickup! First time 'I drove' was sitting on my Dad's knees steering a mini pickup along a field on a farm track in Gloucestershire. Must have been around 1972. So exciting.
Love the auction vids. White cars seemed to be the flavor of the day this time around.
Lots of white 80s stuff, yes indeed.
Hello from Norway. 😊
As an owner of an 1969 Alfa Romeo 1300 Gt Junior, my eyes catched a couple of Alfa’s in the background there.
First a red Giulia coupe, then a blue Giulietta. The fun thing is that my car has the same blue color (Bluette).
You should have showed it, to show the common public that not all Alfa’s are red. 😅
What a great episode, some beautiful vehicles in that auction. That little MG Turbo was just nostalgically lovable!! Will try and get to the show on Sunday… I have a capri 280 that’s in need of a resto so would be good to pick up some advise and contacts.
Had so many of those cars that you shown Johnny, including a friend that had a tickford Capri, loved my interceptor. Granada’s are beautiful. That calibra was asking 27k a few weeks ago 😂 lovely RR classics ❤️
I knew a guy in my village who had a new Tickford capri. His dad had a bit of money. His dad was a very nice man.
My grandfather had a bright yellow Australian built Mini K (Clubman front) Van & that vehicle gave you a ton of smiles when you're in it. Especially when you're being tossed about in the back as a kid! I'd have that Mini Ute hands down as I own 2 Holden Utes!
shame you didn't review the Sunbeam Rapier H120 (unless I missed it)? My dad had one of those in the 70's. It carries the same nostalgia as your dad's Granada estate ! ;-)
It was a lovely thing. So hard to decide on what we film
I can recall 1 of those 37 B10 Alpina's knocking around Mid Wales a few years back, a B reg too.
Loved seeing the Range Rovers. My dad worked in the paint shop at Solihull for most of his working life, and was often involved in the one off specials they produced, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in some of the ones featured. He also on one or two occasions bought a Range Rover home for the weekend when I was young which was a real treat as we could never have afforded one ourselves. A BL employee subsidised Morris Marina was about the best we could hope for in those days! 😁
Hi Jonny. I am not a hard core car enthusiast but I really love your channel. Nicely done. You do great work and I just wanted to say bravo. Tip of the hat. I AM subscribed and I DO hit the like button. Phil
Phil, that is really kind. Thank you. Welcome aboard TLBS.
Up until about 6 years ago there lived in our little town, a white Mini pick up.
I'd say it was a 1979/80 car and I think it was still with it's original lady owner.
It always stood out as it had a private plate on it and it was in absolute showroom stock original untouched condition.
Wow, I wonder where it is now?
22:47 nice volvo 262 there
Cheers for that excellent walk around Jonny
Love these Auction videos ❤️
Possible Chody Shifter entry on that Janspeed Rangey?🤔
Had a Calibra Turbo 4x4 for a few years. Hilariously fast, astonishing grip (although somewhat dull handling), and a transfer box made of warm cheese... which is probably why there's only 50 left. Unloved, forgotten, and often unrepairable.
The LEs were never cheap, and in relative terms at £20k has probably only held onto its money in the last 20 years.
Nice Almadine Black C215 on your left side in the beginning of the video. I now see it sold for 8550 GBP. These cars are still underappreciated. I think their era of glory will come back in a couple of years. Now we have a boom for everything 90s, so early 2000s will follow eventually.
Nice overview Johnny, I used to have a Calibra reg H884 DTM when they were doing well in the DTM! Plus I used to have a Hillman Avenger on a 'T' plate 1.3LS with the straight back lights ], as it was my first car I trashed it terribly!
Great preview Jonny, lots of temptations there. I'm on one of the stands opposite tomorrow, think I better leave my cheque book at home.
The one in ROADHOUSE was a 560SEC wasn’t it ? At one point the fastest mass production car in the world. ROADHOUSE ( Peter griffin voice )
Well done Jonny very informative good lad
Thanks for this Vid Johnny, proper stroll down memory lane!!.. am off to watch the new Roadhouse vid.
Great tour of the auction room, Johnny. Cheers!
'76 Vauxhall Magnum estate (26s in, LHS), the Alpina B10 or '90 blue 205 1.6 GTI for me (eclectic I know!)
The Magnum estate is sweet. Had a look at that after the shoot.
@@TheLateBrakeShow there’s another one for sale at Auto Union in Corby. Sweet sweet car!
Thanks for the response too - made my day!
P6s are fabulous cars, but that P5B…The Man Who Haunted Himself…
Great film, even Roger Moore was proud of his performance in that
Ooooh rubs hands! Great walkaround JCP!
Would love to know more about that Sierra XR4x4 @10:21. Loved those late model Sierra’s with the smoked tail lights.
I'm surprised you didn't cover the red volvo p1800, cleanest one I ever seen!
A lot of these haven't sold (or met reserve). I think that tells you all you need to know about a market on the way down
Another excellent value of my time watching - met the 'big man' last year at the FoS and hope I didnt say the wrong thing but i was a bit pissed!
Thanks for the wide range of lots you covered.
Just a great Vid Johnny. Looking forward to watching to the Auction. Hello From Australia!
You made a 34 min video feel like 5 minutes, perfect speed with just enough info about each vehicle.
Thank you - best compliment we could wish for
Opening shot of the Xjs and fiesta xr2 were two cars I had together about 20 years ago , sold the XR2 turbo for an XJS 3.6. Was like moving from a flat to a 3 bed detached in Surrey.
Personally I think this is your best, and my favourite, style of content. Soo interesting!❤
Really? Well thank you. It's a lot of fun to be left to roam amongst the CCA offerings.
That auction lacks a no-name full suspension bike
I’ve been into p6b’s forever as I used to sit in the back of my grandfathers (also a Brown one), but they’re far too complicated for many people which is their downfall. Props to the seller for the donation.
i had a white facelift capri , lovely car ...there was a humpback bridge near me and if you got up enough speed you could get airborne
That retro Japanese coupe you introduce at 27.23, was converted by Jeremy Clarkson, and had a starring role in a grand tour episode…
Nissan 300zx appeared in timecop
Oh yeah!
The Avenger is the one for me, great seats.
Cheers Johnny! I've set my alarm clock to get up in time to get myself to the NEC, ready for yhe auction!
🤘🏽
That first P6 is Mexico Brown, Russet Brown was for lowly Minis and Allegros! 🤓
0:56 A cocaine white Tickford Turbo Capri. It doesn't get anymore 80's than that.
Mini pick-up great for the revival
Brilliant walkaround Jonny! Up there with Harry Metcalfe's walkarounds this one.
Congrats and thanks for the awesome edutainment!
Excellent Jonny thank you.
My first car XAJ 168S was a two door Chrysler Avenger!
Lucky guy. Jonny loves a 2 door.
@@TheLateBrakeShowI once had one of the 2-door fleet specials with every bit of trim and equipment deleted. I sold it for £20, I wish I still had it.
My dad's was a British racing green avenger 1300 , I think that was traded in for a triumph acclaim, then I got him into vauxhalls and he's never looked back 😂
I would LOVE the red Starion at 26:15!
That show has got far too expensive to attend
£31 for a Saturday ticket! Wow.
And the rip off car park at the NEC too 😅
@Lookup2Wakeup won't meet you at least 😀
Morning mate
Morning! Anything you fancy from auction?
@@TheLateBrakeShow lol I haven't had a look yet mate
G’day mate 🇦🇺🇦🇺
Cheers Johnny
Interested to see what Hard Up Garage replica Countach goes for…
The Hillman Avenger thanks you for being it's most enthusiastic proponent
We had a v8 p6 when I was a kid, in my 50's now and would love a p5 or p6
Lost track of how many of these cars I want! Love the Mini Pickup.
I might be the only one drooling over the red Mitsubishi Starion behind the Porsche replica.
brilliant jonny. could spend a fortune in there (if i had one)
Starion Quattro 2.8i Capri Stags L322 where do I stop 🤯
I've £11.37 here in my pocket. Might have a cheeky bid on something.
Fun fact about the Nissan 300ZX, one of my all-time favorite Nissan sports cars: 75% were produced with the terribly-leaky T-top roof, 15% were produced in full convertible and only 10% were ever produced in the slick-top berlineta roof….so if you ever find a slick-top berlineta, buy it and hold onto it, it’ll be a collectors item in time.
I bought 2 of those Range rovers.. I’ll be doing some videos on them over the next few days
I managed to get a few snaps of a pristine Jensen in se London. The white mini GT was one of my fave designs id keep it original with a few engine mods possibly
well done presentation, thx
The xjs went on another few year after thst as there are M and N plated models for sale
You're appealing to me Jonny. I loved the P6 as a child. Still do!
Lotus Elite has been my dream car since I was 8. And yes, I know how cheap they are.
Jonny, surely you're forgetting Daryl Hannah and the Trans Am in Kill Bill 2.
The 911 Carerra 4 @ 12,000 squids? Yes please!
