The Carlton is definitely my star of that show, the GSi3000 24v was a beast of a car, overshadowed by the Lotus version obviously but was an absolute weapon, you could spin the rears in 3rd if the roads were slightly damp.
Yet another cracking trip to the classic auctions, oh the memories 😊 and you can see Chris's eyes giving away the motors he likes 😂
the white car only started because Chris stuck his head under it 😀
another great video lads 👍👍
Love hearing Chris talking about the cars he’s the boy
That Chop Shop car certainly wasn't up to the standards of Andy Saunders, now there is a man who can build, safe, original and very beautiful one off automotive creations.
I saw a Mini Pick up at a show at the weekend, was in mint condition in Tahiti Blue, wanted £16k for it.
Thanks for the extended video guys, really curious as to what Chris is going to pay for the XR3i 👊
that Chop Shop thing started life as a Fiesta xr2i , with a 2ltr mondeo engine and the back end from the mondeo . Hated the way those guys cut up perfectly good classics and ruined them . Another great video guys keep em coming .
The Hillman Imp took me back! Had one for about three years in the early 70's. It used to go through clutches every 12 - 15 months!
I became quite proficient at changing it on the drive!!😅😅😅
I grew up on a manual service petrol station in Kentish village. You could always tell the hotted-up Imps because when you raised the front 'bonnet' to access the petrol cap there would be a sack of spuds or coal in there to keep some weight on the steering. One bloke had the two halves of a manhole cover bolted down in his.
Used to drive ours with a couple of bags of sand in ours!
most people on youtube think there big A list celebs, but you two have remained genuine decent honest blokes that are a true pleasure to watch
Hello Rob and Chris, thank you for taking the time to upload this video. Some nice looking cars. Hope you both get what you bid for for, for reasonable money. Ged
Loved the Hillman imp. My first car. Engine came out in just under an hour. Cross member across engine at the back with engine mounting on cane out. Very easy. All aluminium engine. My uncles mate used to race them at Brands hatch. They have a cult following who put motor bike engines in them. Very fast and very easy to tune up. They put four carbs on the engine from a motor bike set up makes them very reliable. ❤
Thanks for the thorough tour lads. Really enjoyed watching that with a coffee. Very relaxing.
Those cars bring back a lot of memories. My first car was the Triumph Dolomite 1850HL. I put a Sprint bonnet on it.
Chris “Fake taxi there”
Rob “dunno what you mean by that”
Chris “no neither do i”
😂😂😂😂 legends
RX7 is a real icon, worth loads of money. Tom Walkinshaw helped develop the RX7 and then won the BTCC in it. He also won the 24 hours at Spa.
It was the SA22 and TWR did the development.
If you've never driven an RX7 you need to. They're so well balanced and in fact so is the RX8. Real driver's cars.
The RX8 isn't as sought after due to the lack of racing pedigree. But their prices are going up too, especially the limited editions.
Thank you from Australia!!!! There are some gems in there. Love it!!
Yes if I remember rightly it’s an XR2I front up to the quarter panels then it’s a MK 2 Mondeo rear end,A lot of Gems indeed 👍😉💪
Really enjoyed this. Owned two Mazda RX7's and they were both very good. Also had A Spitfire a long time ago - my first car. TR7 was a nightmare. Very elegant to look at but the cooling collapsed twice!
A lot of people will be wandering down memory lane with all these cars ...
Scimitar GTE 3.0 Essex V6 with either 4 speed gearbox with overdrive or 3 speed auto. Very underrated car in my opinion. I think it was also the first production can with a rear wiper
Whilst watching this video I suddenly realised how good the filming is Rob, it was so easy to watch , after a hard day lovely to just kick back and watch 2 enthusiasts wallow in the nostalgic pond of the auction material. well done.
Coventry Climax engine as used in fire pumps used in that Hillman Imp. It`s an all aluminium overhead cam engine.
These classics always bring out the memories don't they? Mine today was the Hillman Imp; my Dad had one when I was a bubba, it caught fire at a set of traffic lights with tiny me in the back. Great length to the video lads, was almost like being there ❤👍
Rob, the blue and white Honda is a CB125S. Nice little bulletproof bike. A Fizzy is a Yamaha FS1-E. 50cc sports moped.
The blue 3i is my old car. I bought it off the original owner in 2003. It's as good as you'll get unrestored these days. Looks like it's got a few bits coming through now. I believe it's been stored since I sold it.
Best car for me the Carlton. I had the 2nd phase 24v GSi version. Reg plate was G200 BAD.
Bought it new on day of release. Fantastic motor and worth money now. On hindsight wish I had bought the Lotus version, but delivery times were stupid. Now a GSi 24v if you can find one around £3000, Lotus version around £80000. Oh well, we all have regrets.
Great video chaps, thanks for the tour. Cheers, Bob
Same here! if you can find one now , i only see them at the 10k mark .i had a 24v auto and is possibly my favourite car . My ex buggered it up and i sold it for peanuts , Doh! They do have road presence
The Chop Shop car started life as a white Fiesta and now has the front bumper from a Toyota Celica I belive and the back end of a Mondeo grafted onto it.
The lovely Imp, my first and third cars. Crashed the first in Australia in 1970 and ran the other for nine totally trouble free months in England before selling it to a mate and returning to Oz. Both total fun little cars...
That fake taxi bit was funny 🤣
The Reliant Scimitar was powered by the Ford 'Essex' 3.0 V6, the last couple of years were the 2.8 Ford Cologne V6. The later 'Escort Saloon' was badged Escort rather than Orion after the Orion name was dropped
shame they didn't put the same V8 in it British Leyland used
I am 74 and I really enjoyed this extended video seeing some of the cars I have actually owned. I had a LR ex military LWB Series 2A with no syncro, double declutch job. 20 years ago I restored a LR series 3 SWB from 1971. Sold it to a farmer and still around today, just about..
Rob the B reg Xr3i didn't have the cut out in drivers side carpet. The Mk3 never did. That security feature came out on the Mk4 and the rest of the fords in 1986, along with the different style of key
That's my old car. Definitely got the original floor in it!
Mazda RX-8 has that rotary engine. Use a lot of oil but most engines need a rebuild cause owners don’t look after them. Loved this video guys
Afternoon Rob & Chris. Bit late with this one lol 😂 Listening to Chris explain the cars was a real gem for your channel 👍🏻 Chris sat in that classic convertible made me laugh as his hair would get blown away like mine would 🤣 Fantastic as always guys 🤩
The Honda C50 is actually a C100. It was the predecessor to the C50, it had an overhead valve pushrod engine where the C50 was overhead cam chain driven. The C100 produced more power and was more fuel efficient than the later C50
The grin on Chris’s face 😂one or two
Yamaha FS1E was a "Fizzy" in the 80's they also did a chopper version FS1SE. The YB100 looked the same but was a little bigger but had a 100cc engine (often had 50cc stickers )
When they had Micron exhaust system people used to sing " Fizzy boyz , Fizzy boyz , wind the throttle and a lot of noise "
My grandad had an XR3, not an i, same colour and wheels, but had the spot lights on the front and decals up the bonnet (from factory I think), and the rubber spoiler. Seeing this brings back memories of the car and him 👍
Great content guys lovely to see you two having a break and enjoying the cars n sharing your knowledge 😊
Hi Chaps. That is the first Mobillette I've seen in many years. Brought back some old memories. My Brother in law was a copper who weighed 18 stone had one to go to work. Interestingly, he was a Met Police Murder Squad Detective who was seconded to Yorkshire to help in the Moors murder case. He was the one who arrested, interviewed and successfully prosecuted Myra Hindley. Sadly passed away 9 years ago.
I reckon you two will go for the Yellow Rocking Robin and will livery it with "Rob 'n' Chris's Independent Trading Company" on the side 🤣
All those cars and the modern R56 Mini Cooper Goodwood caught my eye - Cooper S spec with no bonnet vent, Rolls Royce black colour, lambs wool deep pile mats and all the Rolls luxury interior materials. Love these walkarounds some lovely bits to see.
FS1E was Yamaha and was a 50cc and the early ones were unrestricted able to do 50mph-ish and had pedals
The Escort Van would make a great SRUK promo vehicle. I think you'll be bidding on the Healy, Metro, one of the Robins, the XR3i (nice) and the Escort Van!
The ‘Fizzy’ was made by Yamaha and the model was called a FS1E. The early ones did over 60mph! Not bad for 49cc!
I beg to differ 50 mph -55 flat out on the straight ….i had a Garelli Tiger Cross which was a wee bit faster
The 'Harley Davidson green' Mini. Just needs 48 on the door and some leather panniers.
I had a a couple of Mini's, an XR3 and an 'Onion' back in the day. Nice walk around the auction. Thanks.
Fizzy was a 50cc moped made by Yamaha. Nickname came from the model name of FS1-E.
Brought back some memories
Great content thank you Rob and Chris, love this sort of thing
Hi boys. The Scimitar has the Ford 3ltr. Same engine as the 3ltr Capri.Once had a 71 Mk1 3ltr Capri.Should have kept it as they are worth a lot.
Love it when you go to these auctions, there's cars there I've never seen in Australia. Great vid gent's. Aussie Graham.
Hi Rob and Chris what great cars and thankyou for great video again take care both 🙂😉👍
The fizzy was a Yamaha FS1E and if you had the disk brake on the front it was a FS1E-DX they were a 50cc before 1976 they were an unrestricted moped. You could get about 65MPH out of it.
Only Chris could get away with doing what kids do and looking and typing on his phone while Rob talking and asking questions. 😂 Great content, enjoyed it.
Don’t tell me the car your thinking of get is ! Is no, income tax. No, VAT. No money back.😂😂😂
“Stick a pony in ma pocket,
I’ll fetch the suitcase from the van,
But if you wanna best but you dahn’t questions then brother, I’m your maaaan”
Just love the old classics easy to repair love the video Guys
The fake taxi had me, if you know you know 😂
Some really cool classic motors there. Thanks for the tour.
That mini with the white roof caught your attention and me. I had one just like that in smoke grey. DMM 510A, yes the first in 1963. Battery in the boot and starter button on the floor. It changed as I added an 1100cc engine to it and added a fibreglass clubman front. Boy did go!
My late Mother had minis all her life. The first in 1959 was the first mini in Brighton. It was Farina grey and had reg 3003CD. I sold it for her in 1971 with a genuine 5000 miles on the clock!!! I remember the floor starter. It used to pick up gravel which has to be freed by rocking the car in gear. I used to race a Richard Longman 1321cc Cooper S.
The red Ford Orion took me back. I bought an identical example new in 1992. J229 YLS. Went to the crusher around 20 years ago.
Reminds me of going to BCA Blackbushe. Up and down all the lines in 2 min to get an idea of what’s there. XR3i for me, but I was always a Golf GTI fan in the day. Had a 1991 J plate last of mk2s nearly new. Saw it on the road still about 7 years ago still with its original 15 inch Vn wheels on. Great video as ever. Thanks
BSA - 'Bloody Sore Arse'.
Chop shop cars, They were deathtraps, body filler, and self tappers.
Thanks for going over the bikes, great to see
the yamaha fs1e was a 50cc moped they did one with front drum brakes then the dx came along which was disc brake at the front which stopped sharper, good video guys thanks for a bit of knowledge keep it up
I’ve been filming at The Healey Factory here in Melbourne. Always a joy going there. They just sent 12 of them over to Europe in containers for the annual Healey run around Europe. Think it’s Norway this time.
I bet Chris bought that Reliant van. You couldn't miss the huge smile on his face when looking at it. He could put it on the back of his Reliant Ant. Some unique and rare stuff there. The Dodge Cornet is a 1965, I had a beater 4 door one in the mid-1970s. The Barracuda with the 340 markings is I believe a 1968 or 1969. The engine was a 'small block' this with a 340 CID. Lovely. Behind it was a Jeep Gladiator pick-up, likely a 1/2 ton version with the 4 WD (some were made with 2 WD). It appears to be of 1963-1969 vintage. Some came with a SOCH I-6 but also when AMC took over Jeep, with a V-8 engine from them. The same chassis, engines, front clip, doors and basic interior structure was also used to make an Estate model, the Wagoneer and until about 1991.
Great to see you guys having some time off and a bit of r&r,
Will be interesting to see what took your fancy....great vid' 👌👍👌👍
Loved the little airportable land-rover. You don't see many of the 1 ton land-rovers brought back memories of operation banner
Nice one guys a few quid in there
A day early and some lovely cars cheers 👍👍
Love how Chris’s face is like a kids in a Sweet shop with the classics
Love these classic car walkabouts 👌
That Vauxhall Carlton GSI was my favourite there now on the video 👍👍
For me personally, the Carlton GSI 3000. Would love a mint one of those. Saph Cossie yes, but that looked used and abused. Oh! and I'm sure the Fizzy was only the 50cc due to the fizzy sound.
Be even better with the lotus specks 😊
hillman imp had a coventry climax engine in them 850 cc my dad was a inspector for cov climax for 50 years the engine was what they used for fire engine pumps origanally
Cavalier estate was a company car for me back in about 1987 ish. While I was parked at a garage in Bracknell a very young mechanic in a customers MG Metro Turbo was giving it some beans and came flying around the carpark smashing straight up the back end of my car. What a mess, the manager tore strips off the poor lad. Imagine telling customer your service is done but it's a write off. Long time ago
Looking forward to see what you come back with fellas once again nice to see some lovely motor's from my childhood and early days of driving 🚗 😀 😊. Take care and stay lucky and healthy see you Saturday as usual 😊❤
That was brilliant it certainly brought back a lot of lovely memories thanks again guy's keep them coming
Wish I had the money for another classic. That MK2 Cavalier estate would go great next to my Sierra Estate.
The orange VW T2 you were looking at outside is a water cooled, Brazilian model, so relatively new. the front mounted radiator is the giveaway.
Has anyone said it???
No....should I????
"Princess Anne has a reliant scimitar you know😅"
hahaha! yup! good man!
Great video boys thank you for showing us around the cars 😁
so many different cars at that auction and I'm suprised you and Chris don't get carried away buying a few of them to sell on another good video guys can't wait to see more on the channel keep them coming guys 💯💯💯👍👍👍
Somthing different, loved it !!
Well done guys fantastic video.
I think you will find a Fizzy is a Yamaha! Good viewing guys thank you...
Nice landrover lightweight there boy's 👍 and what a cracking video
Good to hear one of these auction walk around now you're both mic'd up 👍
chris saw you at the bearsted car show last year, am aspergers wanted to say hello. loved the vw camper
Ide be torn between the XR3 & the Carlton, nice one fellers 👍👍
Are you on tomorrow too ?
This is tomorrows video 👍
The fizzy was a Yamaha. Fab bike for what they were back in the day!
Great Nostalgic video, for those of us who remember the older marques and indeed owned 1 or 2 of them over the years. My first car (? hand) was a Mk1 Mini. Reg WWS 841. At 6' 4". The only reason I could get in and use it was because the seats were as thin as Deck Chairs. "O" to be 18 again. 😢😢
Great video, so many beautiful old motors. Brings back memories.
The faketaxi part tickled me! Brilliant 😂😂
Thank you guys nice walk around with your knowledge of the cars some beautiful old classics.
That chop shop car is concrete proof Lipu is mentally affected. Funny as listening to Rob trying not to blurt out what he really thought of that monstrosity.
Remember Martin Kemps gangster car 😂 he hated so much it was auction off for charity and crushed with a monster truck.
I mean.....to be fair ...they made it work ....I mean its never going to be road legal....but credit where credits due 😅😅
Leepo was a master in BS, i have never seen so much crap, i would love to know if any of his garbage ever got an MOT
Would have been a good chance to have a deeper look at it to see how bad it really is and what bodgery really went on
@thefloorkiller
That would be incredible, Rob and Chris go back and have a more detailed look, and give an opinion on safety issues, and like you said bodge jobs.
The Fs1e fizzy is a "Yamaha 50", that triumph motorcycle u sed was restored was original Jubilee Bonneville 750 made for the queens jubilee &those Honda 50s&Honda 90s u had are making 5k for original ones, especially with the front number plate or "Granny Slicers" as we bikers call em up north...Ian..😂
Yamaha FS1E 50 was a Fizzy, Honda SS50 was it's rival, I had both lol. Great video Chris & Rob.
Hopefully the yellow 3 wheeler will be coming to you guys,I'm with Rob on the B reg xr3i so hopefully he can win that one,I personally liked the red cti Peugeot, quite a few there for Chris aswell so will be interesting to see if you guys win anything 🙂👍
Star of the show the imp,and the panda with a tow bar was brilliant thanks lads👍
Rob, that Scimitar has the Ford V6 3 litre (2994cc) Essex lump.
That Impala looks like a 1961 SuperSport (SS).
The "old" white MG was registered in 1999, the black one in '52.
Beautiful classic cars. I love the 80s and 90s. Hope you get what you like. Take care.
