As a younger and foreign supporter of EFC I love content like this. Helps me feel closer to the club getting to know and listen to legends like Alan Meyers. Great interview!
Baz really is good at these ,it’s a skill to just listen haha ,an ask good questions, there so insightful puts people at ease to talk openly, why podcasts are great, really good stuff keep it up👍
After years of following Alan on twitter ive always appreciated his knowledge and insight on the game. His everton updates are always reliable and he's the go to man. Its good to hear from himself and his experiences. great podcast Baz.
Poorly said, they’ve spent big money, Allison, van dyke, nunez, approach quarter of a million for the three, plus good fees for Gakpo, Jotta and others… some of these are t working, eg Nunez is far from clinical, not a great guy for the fee, but they backed the person (assume manager but unsure to be fair) who wanted him… they are being blamed unfairly. Big money spent of Keira was money down the drain but they paid it, that was over 50m wasted, no fan/manager offers to help repay that wasted money but we all wanted Keita, now they’ve spent big on Dominic, decent money Macalloster with add ons, plus others… they get no credit but have spent good money, people ignore January transfers like I think Diaz, they are far from cheap… they should have sold Salah and used the money for rebuild but that’s the only error for me, they could have kept mane and sold Salah, line Salah but 200m was more than enough for a 32 year old, he won’t be playing for us jn four years. Get off the now Wes back, they have spent money, same as man its’s owners, yet fans ignore the figures and just say more more more, pretty unfair.
Just finished watching this and I’ll say it again, lovely fella. The fact that he was suprised to have articles written on him when he left us shows how humble he is about his service to our club and what it meant to us
Wow! Utterly compelling and fascinating interview for an Evertonian. What a down to earth person Alan is and so equally and perfectly matched by the TTV crew. Just knew he’d finish with his admiration for TTV simply because it’s all true 💙💙💙
Would be a wise move for 777 to bring Alan on board, perfect bridge between club & fans. Lord knows we need it right now. What a guy, some great stories, could have listened to another 3hours. Well done Baz top interviewer 👍
Thank you Emma, really appreciate that 😊 As for 777, yes that would be their first smart move to get Alan onboard to begin a new era of comms between the club and fans.
Mr Myers has been there and seen it all. What a day that Robinho Deadline Day was, however, it put an expectation on clubs and supporters that has created an additional pressure. Thanks guys
What a watch amazing interview Baz, brought a tear to my eye when Alan recognised all yours and Peds hard work at toffeeTV. Couldn’t agree more with what he said about you both. I know that you cheer up my day everyday and help me get through life, keep it up lads and never stop… 💙 Everton need to get this man back working for them it just makes sense and would make Everton better.
Please break this down into smaller chunks so we can like and share them all for better coverage. Spread it out there bit by bit and hopefully it will help the audience stay tuned in, (we have short attention nowadays) It's great to have the full interview here, (I listened in my truck one night at work) but bite size is better as most of us don't really have the time to sit through all of it at once and may put people off all together. It's so good to hear people's stories whoever you support and relive their lives.
That was compulsive viewing, time flew by... Excellent chat, loved listening to Alan, a humble gent of man with blue blood coursing through his veins. Many first hand accounts of his fascinating decades in football. I loved Bob Latchford as a young kid, especially when he smashed his 30th goal of the season in the 70's. As a life long Red, I'm not blinkered to Everton's many achievements and successful players/ managers alike. The new ground at Bramley Moore Dock, is going to be a highly impressive stadium, be the best by far for the new season 2025/26 in the Championship..... 👌🏼
Alan is fantastic mate, I'm still amazed EFC haven't begged him to come back ! The club changed when he left and it hasn't recovered in all honesty !!!! Thanks for the comment mate 👍
All the best from London mate. Its starting to look like big Sean is slowly turning things around for you. I rate him as a manager. If his name was Sean von Dyche he'd have got the opportunity to manage a big club like yourselves much sooner. @@MoreThanAGame_
Very good interview having worked with Alan at Everton. I totally understand we’re he is coming from Communicating with people/fans is a top priority which sadly has been lacking at the club for a number of years . Hopefully things will get better as we move into the new stadium and hopefully get the right owner or owners taking over hopefully the club learn from there mistakes
This interview was over 2 and half hours long ….. and it still didn’t feel long enough. Alan Myers is a legend whom I’d sit and listen to all day. Hopefully one day he’s back at EFC but wherever he goes or does, good luck 👏🏼
Al is a good fella. Great to hear about your experience with the badge change. I hated it but we had Nike Kits and all the prestige and we played so well. Strangely enough I miss it.
Brilliant interview, he seems like the kind of person clubs would bend over backwards for. He should be in a position of real power/influence at Everton. The fact that he isn't tells a story about why the club is in the current state.
Brilliant interview, Baz. You really didn't have to do too much did you? Just prime him a little bit and off he goes. When I first saw the length of the video I wasn't sure I would last but so glad I did and loved it. Thanks to both of you.
Alan used to work off the Taxi rank in Liverpool Airport in the early nineties when I got to know him, He took me under his wing and took me with him to a few reserve games that he was covering for the Echo, he let me accompany him to Wembley for a non league final where we got to walk on the famous old Wembley turf - a day I’ll never forget. Another time after covering a reserve match at Anfield where United with Scholes, Beckham & Nicky Butt all featuring for them as up and coming young stars he had to file a report at radio Merseyside, he took me into the studios and after his highly professional 2-3 minute report had been filed for broadcast, then proceeded to do the funniest fake broadcast using the studio equipment and mixing desk that has always stayed with me. The guy is hilarious, so quick witted and just generally an all round sound fella who will go out of his way to look after the people in his life. This was a great interview that brought all of those memories flooding back 30 odd years later.
@@MoreThanAGame_ He really is mate, lovely fella and it’s been great to watch his career progress from those early days when I was fortunate enough to get to know him. 👍
Top lad Baz , old skool and Alan always talk’s sence and is a proper Evertoinan sound fellaz, ps that Oxford game i was there Lineker of all players absolutely missed shite loads of chances.
Do you think the board and Farhad would have the gumption to get Alan back working for the club, Gazza and Ginola shocked me when they signed. The moment with Gazza that resonates with me is when Abel Xavier was leaving for Liverpool and he was hanging from a window shouting 'Don't leave me Abel, please don't leave me' 😂
Lineker boots were missing Kit man lost them Southall injured would have saved that goal, Bracewell played with injection from boxing day on that ankle,,, bad season for everton
I don’t understand this video? He’s a wasted talent who was only driven by money and not achievements. He’s only now known for that celebration against arsenal and that’s it. Terrible attitude and greed has left to him being forgotten.
Certainly changed it forever mate, whether that be good or bad. Commercialised it properly and that's when the moneymen seen the chance to shape certain clubs / leagues.
