I'm so happy that Japanese people still produce sedans. As much I see and understand the utilitarian value of SUVs and crossovers I still believe we need beautiful cars too.
Fun fact: Toyota Corolla sales in Japan are not as good as it's was in the previous generation , because the body size is now "too big" for many consumers .
I love this color! Toyota did its work with the Corolla, I'd definitely go for one just like this. Thank you Lori for your camera work and Joe bringing us more goodness from the NY Auto Show!
They disappoint with the worst driving experience. HP and torque figures are such a massive downgrade. If there's one thing that Tesla has proven, it's that you can add a lot more acceleration for no added cost on range/mpg. Why does the RAV4 Prime produce that kind of power and this car has to suck?
I just bought the 2023 corolla hybrid xle almost 3 weeks ago and im doing 62mpg way over the manufacturer 53 city 47 highway 50mpg combined, its insane i love toyota!! All i need now is to get the se rims on it to make it look cooler
I know it’s a weird observation, but whoever corrected the paint on that car did an incredible job. Most show cars I’ve seen have little swirl marks, micro-marring, and/or some haze, presumably from some frantic compounding before the show. This is really exceptional though.
I think I can count on Toyota to maintain legendary Corolla reliability. I've owned two - 92 and 2005. A lot to love about this car, and it's taken me through some serious life changes, moves across the country, etc. Was always amazed how much I could pack it. It has always been a bit underpowered, and you get used to it, but the ONLY thing I've never gotten used to is the road noise. I looked into aftermarket solutions, but didn't wanna rip the floor up. If Toyota can give this a lexus-style sound isolation treatment, maybe as an add-on package, I might buy my third Corolla. It's a very nimble little car, perfect for a daily driver.
Too many shiny back plastic trim pieces inside and out. It's going to scratch and dull very easily. The base Corolla Hybrid or Corolla Cross hybrid is where the maximum value happens. Good review Joe!
so finky. do non shiny other than black, colors have some miracle resistance to life on the roads or something we dont know about? who wants plastic trim anyway. that turns sun bleach dullsville and is higher maintenance.
Car makers just can't seem to get the memo that nobody like that. It looks great when its brand new, but a year or two don't the line and it going to look just awful. What's worse, they reduced it from the inside, and brought it to the outside. It just isn't a durable type of material.
@Steven Russell you guys with your Ontario pricing, you guys are getting gouged left, right and centre. The regular corollas are not even there for sale even the lower trim ones due to many reasons.
@Steven Russell here in maritimes to get a new corolla takes almost a year for gas version as we speak. The hybrid models take even longer. The used ones are way too expensive already
My Corolla SE isn't a hybrid, but so far I'm averaging 35mpg. Is it fast? LOL Is it fun to drive? In sport mode it's fun to get in the twisties and it holds the road pretty well. Dependable and efficient in a good looking package. Thanks again for doing the hard work to bring us the BEST quality reviews.
Great video as always Joe! However one thing in this Corolla, it uses an eCVT, not a CVT which is pretty different since the the new CVTs are the ones with that initial first gear. Pretty much any new hybrid will be using eCVTs, which are built to be even more efficient than the CVTs that pure gas cars use.
I do agree with you on that awd badge. I’ve been seeing that allot lately with car companies. The placement on some of these badges are absolutely ridiculous. That is a pretty car tho
A year too late! Got our daughter an SE last year bc the hybrid only came in one trim back then. Thanks for the great review Joe. Keep up the great work Lori.
Cool little car, excellent daily driver. Why do people care if it's a prop rod or not, let me tell you I have a newer car with Non prop rods, when those shocks start to fail it's a pain in the neck
@@Rocket9944 that’s on me if I am not careful on making sure the rod is not seated correctly. I have had numerous cars with pop rods and so far no incidents.
I was at the New York auto show last Friday. I saw some good stuff but several brands were missing which I would’ve liked to see. Some manufacturers were missing a lot of their cars too which was also a little disappointing.
Cool. But for me AWD means snow, and snow means you need higher ground clearance. I love my RAV4 but don't use the parking brake in winter if you wash it often.
I’m hoping to get a Corolla Hybrid one day as a daily driver….not sure if I would go for the AWD model but if you live somewhere where it snows a lot then yea I would try to get the AWD model.

Wish the infotainment system was similar like what you get on the Tundra, Sequoia, or the new Highlander. The smaller screen is just out-dated. Overall, I’m excited for this new AWD Corolla as another alternative similar to the Impreza
The head unit in the Corolla is the same one as the one in the Highlander L, LE & XLE models & it has the same operating system as all three of the models you mentioned. As far as the size goes, I think it looks pretty good given the size class of the car. A lot of people prefer a modestly sized screen. To each their own though!
Great Review. What color is that? It looks awesome. I plan on buying one in the next couple of weeks. I live in California and I need something more economical, but still stylish. The Corolla is the way to go!

I had two corolla, they were the best cars to save money. They are just practical and reliable and fuel efficient. This color is sharp
Thanks for sharing your great thoughts from your ownership
My dad had 2 corollas, a 2006 corolla LE (he sold) and a 2021 corolla LE with convenience package (which he still owns to this day)

Great problem for Japan lol horrible for the U.S 😂
Lol. It's too small in the US. Jk to me it's good. I prefer cars. None of that SUV and pickup truck stuff.
After driving mine for over a year I can see what the Japanese are on about, and I'm a big big yank.
The Corolla is too small in the U.S. They need to do what Honda did with the Civic and make it roomier upfront.
Another great video by Joe. One of the few RUclipsrs to review the affordable, reliable, good looking, compact Japanese sedan, and it's an AWD.

Wait wow… that exact car is around $25k? Insane, what a value.
Almost $28K with AWD. Still not bad if you can find one at MSRP.
Stripped down. There are no premium packages in this demo model. Premium packages could be available, which would send the price closer to 29k.
30k in cali

Joe does say eCVT at 5:51 if you listen again
I was thinking the same thing. All their hybrids use ECVT not the regular CVT with the 1st launch gear and the belt for the rest of the gears.
A nice car - if you can get your hands on one. I ordered mine a year ago and there is no timeline on when it'll arrive.
Hey! Joe Raiti, I agree that the AWD badge should be on the back of the car and not at the bottom of the rear of the car. Very nicely detailed video.
With RISING gas prices I could careless about the 0-60……. Very impressed by Toyota! ❤️
the accerleration is fine for what this car is. i enjoy my corolla very much.
The direct shift CVT is only for the gas models. The Hybrids use an eCVT.
