Happy Saturday everyone! Now that the new Prius is in the lineup, is there still a reason to get a Corolla Hybrid? Let us know which one you'd get between the two!
The only drawback on the current Prius for me is the extreme rake on the windshield angle (lower seating position) and how it might hinder my comfort inside. Everything else on the Prius was improved and that's the only reason for me to consider the Carolla.
I’d rather buy a new Prius or even the 2025 Camry LE hybrid that will arrive in dealerships next month. You get much more bang for your buck with the Prius and Camry!!
I can't find a Prius LE within 250 miles of Kansas City, and there are only 15 for sale when I expand the search radius out to 500 miles, so I guess that might be one reason someone gets a Corolla Hybrid instead of a Prius -- there's no way to buy a Prius for under $30k for a lot of people.
I doubt it the new corollas have too many computers on them. You want one of 80s carbureted corollas with a manual that can be push started with a dead battery lol.
My new 2020 Corolla SE Sedan (built in late 2019) didn't even survive 2 years & 10K miles without a bag full of problems, defects & failures. So, good luck out there.

I think this car is great. Yeah it isn't a performance car but for me, it feels quite solid at the core. But I love its ride quality. The 1.8 with AWD is just exceptionally great/fast in the city, (can catch an SI from 0-70km/h) and adequate on the highway too. the 2.0 and 2.4 have EGR valve issues that need a big maintenance every 60k miles or so. I'll pass. Why do people act like they know a lot about engines..
Corolla still looks fine considering its age. I think only the Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra, and Kia Forte are truly more handsome. The interior has become outdated though. Still an excellent option in a class starved of hybrids.
But the Elantra has a hybrid and it’s more modern The civic is also offering one and both make the corolla even more ancient than when it first debuted
@@naveenthemachine Details regarding the Civic Hybrid are still scarce but I expect pricing to be closer to the Prius than the Corolla. Also, I'd take the "ancient" Corolla over the Elantra, which I think is as hideous as the 4th gen Prius.

@@TheHomeExpert5 yeah i was referring to proven hybrids in their pasenger cars and cuvs, once you do that with trucks, it's a different ball game. Especially since it's such a new an unproven technology in that segment.
Seriously better off getting a used Sentra. 1.8 liter engine that makes the same power and roughly same mpgs. Its faster and cheaper. Besides interior amenities you aren’t missing much from the corolla if anything.
For those who dont understand what a lot of us are saying. You know the lc500h, the rx500h f sport performance, the es300h, the gs450h. Yeah. *DRIVE THOSE* and then come back to me about this is decent.
Depends on what you want. If you want fuel economy and dont have to prove anything with acceleration like a high school boy the Corolla Hybrid will be your best bet.
@@billjohnsonseattle that lower cost to operate isn't worth the increased sluggishness and higher price. Besides, it's all relative anyway. It's a Corolla. Regardless of what trim you buy it in, it's gonna cost less to operate than any other car on the road.
The lc500h is useless. The rx500h f sport “performance” (yeah right 🙄) is slow. The es300h is just a Camry hybrid w lipstic. The gs450h is slow and way overpriced
I generally like your reviews. However, when you use the word “pathetic” in the context you used, I feel you are straddling the line between car enthusiast and snob. Some of us that are on a budget need a car such as this Corolla. I have owned two Corollas and they were both reliable - both lasted well over 250K km.
I think you have a valid point.. I don't think Sofyan is aiming to belittle the budget-mined crowd, but I do believe different wording is in order.. This is a fantastic car and can hold its own 👍
Why does everyone insist that even an economy car is fast? Need power to get out of the way? I drove a land yacht with 80hp for years, and yeah, it was slow. But I never needed more power to do anything. Just be a more defensive driver, maybe? Plan your merging rather than just mash and go. If you want fast and sporty, buy a sports car.
Or I could SAVE money and get the standard non hybrid Corolla SE with 30 more HP for LESS, *OR* if I want a Corolla hybrid, I could get pay a little more and get the cross hybrid with 70 more HP, *OR* I can wait a little and pay a bit more to get the next gen Camry hybrid with almost *100* more HP or I can get a Prius. All way better than this.
@naveenthemachine I understand other cars are faster, but this car is for efficiency, not speed. I just don't understand why with speed limits, everyone only cares about power. Quick vehicles are fun don't get me wrong, but for daily use? I'll take peak efficiency
@@activesloth5355 you don’t have to sacrifice efficiency to get performance. For example a civic hybrid is faster Heck even Toyotas own Camry hybrid is significantly faster and just as efficient as the Corolla hybrid

Sorry. Hybrid or not, i refuse to buy any corolla that DOESN'T have the 2.0.
138 is too little for this class of car. Even as a hybrid.
Yea well you don't buy the Corolla for speed or power. It's for commuting buddy.
I have a 2020 se sedan 6sp and I’m always wishing it had 20-30 more horsepower and torque. It would be perfect then. But Toyota refuses to let that little car have power. And the GR is out of the question💰.😶
@@jonlosito2004 the non hybrid Corolla has a 2.0 4 that has 169hp. There's no reason they couldn't team the hybrid system up with that engine like in the Corolla cross.
Just because it doesn't need a lot of power, doesn't mean 138hp is enough. The next gen Camry (which is only in hybrid) is gonna have close to double this cars output.
@@Tahvyy if you want that, you can get it. The new non hybrid Corolla has close to 170hp. It's perfect.
Love the rims
All down hill from there.
Better wait for the civic hybrid, assuming it gets the same 180 HP from European spec, then it will smoke Corolla.
And it’ll probably terminate the corolla from existence
I can’t believe you guys still have snow over there…
This was filmed in late February 😅
Which will you prefer a new driver Honda civic hatchback or Kia forte or Lexus ct 200@@theredline
@@JaydenPrinceasy. Civic all day long. The lexus Ct is extremely boring
Corolla still looks fine considering its age. I think only the Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra, and Kia Forte are truly more handsome. The interior has become outdated though. Still an excellent option in a class starved of hybrids.
But the Elantra has a hybrid and it’s more modern
The civic is also offering one and both make the corolla even more ancient than when it first debuted
@@naveenthemachine Details regarding the Civic Hybrid are still scarce but I expect pricing to be closer to the Prius than the Corolla. Also, I'd take the "ancient" Corolla over the Elantra, which I think is as hideous as the 4th gen Prius.
Car looks fantastic. With Toyota's experience building hybrids, I'm sure it will be very reliable as well I just can't wrap my head around the price! 30K for a Corolla yikes! New cars have gotten expensive. If people didn't 'need" all that tech, plus hybrid, prices would surely be more reasonable.
I guess you didn't hear about all the trouble with the new tundra.
@@TheHomeExpert5 yeah i was referring to proven hybrids in their pasenger cars and cuvs, once you do that with trucks, it's a different ball game. Especially since it's such a new an unproven technology in that segment.
While this doesn’t seem bad, I think the Civic will be more fun and will have more space.
Seriously better off getting a used Sentra. 1.8 liter engine that makes the same power and roughly same mpgs. Its faster and cheaper. Besides interior amenities you aren’t missing much from the corolla if anything.
Just wait until you blow the CVT transmission in your Sentra.
@@billjohnsonseattle So will the standard Corolla, for less. And with 31 more HP.
@@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT The standard Corolla will cost more to operate with lower fuel economy than the Hybrid.
This is a fantastic car and can hold its own 👍
$30k for this? Seems way too expensive for what you get.
It’s Toyota. What did you expect? Their mindset is “get less for more”
It's only 26k. He's rounding WAY up
Is the engine noise in your title sequence an S2000, by any chance? It HAS to be a Honda of some sort.
i think i have seen more modern gauges on 1980s cars
A really good pizza mobile!
Strange that all trims of 2023 or 2024 Corolla Hybrid in Canada have full digital dash and push button start but they omit that in US version
My 2020 Corolla hybrid has much of a better dash. Mainly all digital and looks modern. Idk why Toyota made the Interior look 8 years old
Live that dark blue but unfortunately it already looks all scratched up.
Or I could SAVE money and get the standard non hybrid Corolla SE with 30 more HP for LESS, *OR* if I want a Corolla hybrid, I could get pay a little more and get the cross hybrid with 70 more HP, *OR* I can wait a little and pay a bit more to get the next gen Camry hybrid with almost *100* more HP
or I can get a Prius. All way better than this.
Put it this way. Other compact cars are faster. Civic mazda3 forte Elantra are faster
@naveenthemachine I understand other cars are faster, but this car is for efficiency, not speed. I just don't understand why with speed limits, everyone only cares about power. Quick vehicles are fun don't get me wrong, but for daily use? I'll take peak efficiency
@@activesloth5355 So are the others. They have more power. How come this can't?
@@activesloth5355 you don’t have to sacrifice efficiency to get performance. For example a civic hybrid is faster
Heck even Toyotas own Camry hybrid is significantly faster and just as efficient as the Corolla hybrid
What is the deal of so much power when the car is not built for racing?
Need a hatchback hybrid with AWD
Makes sense to me.
In my country indonesia, this corolla used to indonesian national police
30K Corolla? Out of here with that. Ridiculous these prices.
That dk. blue color OMG! Corolla lookin' good.
Still prefer a Mazda3 Turbo sedan. Has AWD. NON cvt. 250 hp. None of that electric motor.
Can't wait for the 2025 model.
Why Toyota didn’t offered the Camry’s 2.5 lts 205 hp with a manual option in the XSE? Missed opportunity.
Toyota will never do that. They know they’re no longer competitive and relevant in the industry. They’re far too overrated focusing on fleets and mediocrity. Toyotas philosophy is “you pay more but you get less of everything”
@@naveenthemachine In 2016 they offered a Corolla with a 2.5 lts and a V6 RAV 4. For the next gen they have to be competitive because now, they are the slowest of the compact sedan class.
@@josemanuelruiz2036 the 16 corolla didn’t have a 2.5. You’re probably thinking 2008.
This is a corolla hybrid vs. Prius comparison.
The Corolla still looks bland and slightly kiddish compared to the Civvic and Mazda 3.
And it really lags behind the competition in every way 😂
Just got a Civic EX-L and the Mazda and Civic are far superior in almost every way. The only reason to get this is if mpg is the top and only priority
Not in terms of QDR. I used to work in R&D and did "tear downs". But Mazdas are still good...
1. Toyota/Lexus
2. Honda/Acura
3. Mazda
4. Subaru (20% owned by Toyota).

You've been watching too much of them fast n furious movies.
Unfortunately the AWD usefulness is limited to paved roads. It would be fine for snowy or wet roads, just stay off loose dirt with an uphill travel.
That car door handles is a big NO-NO-NO-NO. Jesus, it’s been around for… how long
Trying to make the Corolla a sporty car and the Prius the economy car.
WHY can’t Toyota do the same thing for The Corolla Hatchback⁉️
The Corolla is the number one selling compact family sedan in America, the number one selling vehicle in the world, and once again, here's a RUclipsr not recommending it. The Prius has been dragged by reviewers for 25 years, and now they say if you're not buying a Prius, you're making a mistake. How about you just review what you have in front of you and keep your biased opinion out of the video.
I got a question boo boo cause I just spent 7k on my BBL!!! My yams are priceless so will this car do a good job of cradling my donk? I ain’t taking any chances with my cake boo! Thank you
