ST60 problem : From what I can see of the circuit board which you present to the camera, there is a certain amount of oxidation build-up ( discoloration ) on the array of connecting pins. Cleaning these up may well solve your problem. Use a can of switching cleaning solvent ( always handy to keep around ). Oxidation introduces resistance and so gives the sensing circuits false electrical levels to work with. Also, try swapping the back part of one unit with the other and see if you get different results. This should at least give you an indication of whether you have a connection problem or not. Other than that, the circuit board looks to be in good condition. Usually, component failures tend to be the electrolytic capacitors, especially the larger ones, but yours look to be ok. Signs of being defective are bulging tops, like aluminium cans which are about to to explode ( which they sometimes do ). I would need a more detailed photo to offer an more insights. HTH.
capacitators are looking ok. some solder joints at the bottom where the buttons are are really dark. I think they are working, but they look nearly as cold joints. I would clean the board like Phillip said with wet tissues or even better isoprop alc. switching boards against each other is an good idea. just to make sure : you said you don't have depths, and when you switch the displays you don't have autopilot. maybe there is a failure in the whole system. I would just connect the new depths device to one display. and repeat with your ebay display. if that works you have a problem eleswhere. the iridium antenna can be fixed, I am pretty sure about that. if you're not be able to solder that yourself find a radio guy in southafrica. BUT : it's "kind" of a security device out there, so you have to decide whisely if you are willing to to take the risk with a fixed device.... with kids on board I would probably not.
@@SailingNahoa I see the line of solder connections on the left and right (25 rt and 25 on left) have balled up and look kind of bad--pine flux them and reflow the solder. Good luck guys
I do'no,......... but electronic units are a bit like humans, they may look the same, and they may all talk the "same" language, but there are diferences in "vocabualry/dialect" depending on where they're from and how old / new the design is, so could well be that when you get something "new" it doesn't necessarily talk exactly the same "language", and they don't get along. .... Figuring out what does match and what does not, takes time, and google is your friend at figuring it out. One brand doesn't necessarily want their unit to work with those of other brands. Some does. Some does not. And for some units configuration could be an issue (again, google and time and patience, are your friends). ..... I have no experience with your particular units though. Impressive how you've handled that rot/fiber-glass issue :-). .....

Thank YOU - for sharing your incredible family and journey with us. Yes Ben, you're "Just a little family, sailing around the world..." but you ARE quite extraordinary!
There may be a wire issue. Check the wire with ohm meter and if resistance is high than you know the wire is toast. Love your positive attitude in the face of BS!!!
You are not ordinary but you are modest enough to think so. One of the things that sets your channel apart is how connected and interested you have been in the local people I love that you purchase things just to have in case you could do a trade and help them out and that you are willing to purchase things they would give you. At 5:21 The middle contacting pin of the group of 3 pins at 7 o'clock is the likely culprit. Use a green scotch brite pad to clean all contactors and then warm up some vasilene gel and paint it on both the gold pin and the tin receiver contators with a cotton bud. This will prevent the salt air from getting to the metal in the future. Try doing this to the eBay one as well you may find that you fix both. The other thing to do prior to greasing the contactors is get the circuit board warm with a hair dryer to get rid of any moisture.
The Vesper unit is good, we have had one for two years now, also on a Lagoon 410, no problems. It works via WiFi to their app and Navionics. We also had to replace the ST60 instrument, the LCD just faded away, bought one on Ebay and it has been working for a couple of years now, but it is a crapshoot with 16 year old instruments. The wind direction unit on top of the mast has never work reliably, but perhaps one should not sail if one can't figure out where the wind is blowing:) We just replaced the autopilot drive/motor unit after which the rudder reference transducer promptly failed, both easy fixes as new parts are available, still expensive even if not antique:) Fair winds and bon voyage on your future travels. Love your channel.
OMG..your kids are more adorable every video. My favorite was Bodhi and Ben with their heads down the hole in the cushion. What a life. The good makes the bad times so much easier to deal with. Wishing you safe travels as always.
I prefer Garmin products. I would check the ground on the depth finder. One component going out sometimes can be from too many devices using a common ground putting it beyond its load. Something may get to ground quicker going thru the depth finder affecting its operation. I typically use separate direct wiring for critical electronics. Best of luck in your excavation renovations.
The iridium go will fry itself if you leave it plugged into too high an output usb charger/port. The one that comes with it is designed to recharge it for on the go use, not leaving it plugged in all the time. I think after our family burned out two we switched it to 500ma/.5a at 5volts or 750ma at 5volts. It just barely keeps it charged and doesn't produce a bunch of waste heat that cooks the electronics as quickly. We were losing a Iridum ever 8 to 12 months , now we are on three years.
Start by connecting a Display directly to the cable of a transducer (if I understand correctly you now have 2 of each) Swap displays and transducers one at a time to determine which work, and which don’t. If you can’t get a working pair check for corroded connections, and wiggle and pull gently on cables to see if it suddenly starts working - that indicates a break or intermittent. Once you have a working pair, now start adding your wiring through the boat, 1 segment at a time.

In addition to what Phillip recommended on cleaning the connecting pins/contacts between the board and the display, for the future I would suggest adding a can of CorrosionX to your toolkit. It is safe to spray on circuit boards and electrical contacts to prevent oxidation and moisture. It's also an anti-seize product perfect for battery terminals!
Is the transducer sending a good signal? The manual of transducer would say what kind of signal it produces. Usually sensors produce a small voltage or current signal, some produce a pulse as well. Any good volt meter can check these signals. You can check the output signal of the transducer with a volt meter, the current signal is 0 to 40ma or close and is measured by passing the current through the volt meter at current setting. See if you can measure the transducer depth signal and corelate the signal value to depth, the corelation graph is usually given in the manual too.

On the ST60's and the E120, check all your Seatalk connections on all your devices, including any junction blocks or adapters. If just one connection is loose, a device anywhere on the network can lose its power or signal feed and act goofy.
Your faces are so different than when you were deep into figuring out the separation problem. I’ve never really realized how much stress can change your outward appearance but the change is incredible and I am so happy for you and your family to be in such a better place now.
Love watching you guys. I am currently working in the Seychelles on business and have been residing at the Ridge Residence on the hill directly above Eden Island you where you were walking. I have just flown out to Praslin Island to wrap up some business and will be back on Thursday. Will try to catch up with you when I get back if you are still there.
Beautiful the part where you meet the local that was waiting to offer you the coconut water..very touching...thank you ALWAYS for sharing such encounter when they happen🥰🥰🤗🤗
The two long rows of solder connections that are dark and dirty looking are also suspect, clean and reflow them as well, touch with soldering iron and as soon as it goes liquidous remove iron, keep soldering iron tip clean with damp sponge and add fresh solder to maintain cleanliness then wipe excesses. You can do it. I have faith.
ST60 instruments run on SeaTalk 1. which links each instrument inline on a loop, if one fails just unplug and bypass, this way all other instruments will still work. Alternatively, you can install a Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG convertor and replace the instrument with a later model. SeatalkNG is same language as NEMA2K just with different plugs, so if you already have NEMA2K backbone even better, need a convertor cable between the NEMA2K backbone and “Seatalk1 to SeatalkNG” converter. Then other ST60 instrument will convert and be visible on the NEMA network. I am progressively upgrading my ST60 to newer Raymarine, plus other NEMA2K screens, None of the techs could answer all my questions so it took a long time to figure out, but it works
"Just a little family sailing round the world." Mine and many other people's favourite little family sailing round the world. Nice to see things are looking up again!
@End: Dear Ben and Ashley, it is good to see you guys back to normal boat life... I know, it is not yet completely ready, buy the positivity is what turns the things!! Remember these two lines, "There is no situation which you cannot turn into your advantage" and "Darkness is just the conviction that the light will never come back".. They both are from Hollywood movies, but they changed my life!! Trust me, you guys are good at it.. Loads of love from India...
maybe I don't get it correct. but when the bridgedeck is bent cause of rotten structure and you just put some new material in, it will be still bend. And I'm pretty sure that will lead to preblems with the rig. or when a rigger tightens the rigg new. cause the whole geometry doesn't fit anymore!?
I love the moment with Bodie on the settee hatch. Moments like that will shape your child's life more than two years of middle school. (My son is 32 I can still see clear echos of his first years. MBA consultant, snooty Audi driver; but that little guy is still there.) Good to see someone made sure those stove gimbels were ready to sail. Yeah what is it with marine electronics? I call these guys up and say "I've got too much money I want to upgrade all my electronics!" and if they bother to call back it's to tell me they're too busy, or I should figure out what I need, buy it and then they'll install it...in 12 weeks...maybe. If you go by my (2003) Raymarine then I hold the California record for going down the coast sailing backwards. (My nav system is 190° out of whack, not 180°.... )
Might have missed it but did you figure out where the water intrusion came from? One idea/ suggestion is metal/ wood T trim that could cover the floor seams, dont know how available it is where you guys are though but it could be painted/ or stained a wood color and make it less noticeable.
You will LOVE the Vesper. They have recently been purchased by Garmin. I always found Vesper in New Zealand to be very responsive. The transfer to Garmin took a bit, but Garmin is now up to speed and I have had a very good experience. To your point, Vesper support is now through Garmin.
@@SailingNahoa Yes I agree and hoped my comment will help your sponsership . Lol Stay safe, I loved seeing your son watching you in that cubby hole and trying to help you. TOO CUTE
Hello 👋 and thank you for sharing this video with us. I noticed (a few videos ago, when you left Canada) that Ashley colored her hair. I’m a hairdresser and wish I could tap my heels together to transport myself there to do your hair for you. Going a darker color when you have so much blonde (and grey 🤫) is tough to get right and to maintain. Ashley, the grey that you have mixed with your natural blonde is very pretty and compliments your beautiful complexion. I would suggest letting the sun fade that darker color out of your hair. If you want to add some depth (darker shades) in to your natural color, try weaving it in. Balayage is another name for it. You can put in multiple colors….. some light blonde, sandy blondes… in this way some of your natural color is left and it makes the new growth (line of demarcation) a lot softer. And usually you can get away with going a longer period time between colors. I think it would look beautiful. Regardless of what you do with your hair…. I think you are fabulous!
Really glad to hear that you did not have a major problem like Parlay Revival. My anxiety level was down during this video, so I can imagine you folks are feeling much more relaxed.
I would agree with a previous comment about electrolytic capacitors. Some are effected by higher temperature and can degrade substantially without showing damage. Check the temperature rating. It may have effected by excessive sun exposure. You have to desolder it and pull it from the board to measure it!
As always you guys are awesome to watch can tackle any problem with the best results and video content is off the charts. Kids are what make life worth living the return pay back is huge in the end .
Thank you guys for sharing your lives with us! Great video! Love how you show the difficulties of filming with young kids. Our kids are 21 & 17 now but I can remember how hard it was just to talk on the phone for a few minutes when they were small. See you next week! - Jen
As you get older Ben you are starting to look a lot like John McEnroe. A younger calmer version, but a true champion. I appreciate your honesty, and hard work approach. You will make it around the world many times. Bigger things coming your way. You earned it.
I've been watching you all since before Willa was a twinkle in your eyes. I have grown to love your sweet family. I just want to wish you guys luck and love on your next sail.
As usual another sweet heartwarming video. Love Bodie helping dad! So cute! And what a sweet guy to see you and offering so much kindness. I LOVE seeing that so much! Haters always get attention and I know why because its hard not to say something but I really love seeing the goodness in people being shown. Its a nice bit of positive energy out into the world. Which, we all need. Reaffirming, reassuring, real humanity.
I had an ST60. The problem is the new one “alarms” the whole system. The ST60 is software upgradable through the chart plotter. I suspect a software incompatibility issue. Easy to check.I would assume the new one is Ok hardware wise and try two things: 1. Reset the ST60 back to factory default. 2. If one does not work, upgrade the software version on the ST60.
We're having the same issues with our ST60 set up. We will be flowing along in the comments to see any Solutions to try. Thanks for the effort you always put in. Not easy to do life and produce a great video weekly! Cheers! ⛵️🍻🇨🇦🤙
The way you face the problem is inspiring. Keep doing what u love. I don't have the money support you but i have watched every video you uploaded. May you finish what you have started! Fair winds and following seas to you and your family!
Hey guys. We have the display you seek. We replaced Raymarine with B&G. But we kept the displays. Would be fun to try amd send them from Mexico, where we are cruising, to you. Let us know!
Is your new Tridata head configured the same as the old one in terms of seatalk? Sounds like it could have been configured as a stand-alone head when you need an integrated configuration. The A/P is relying on that data over the Seatalk network. Page 25 and 26 of your manual cover some of that. Does the new head work with the new transducer? If it does then you may want to look into a few calibration/configuration options. Page 35 sets master or repeater status on the SeaTalk network. Sounds like you will want it to be the master and not repeater. Then proceed through the calibration/configuration from there.
Wonderful surprise coconut, like manna from heaven. But Ashley with a glass of cold wine, that made me smile. You all deserve to kick back once in a while. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

Hello from Grenada! Glad to see you all out and about and having a good time.
Should be back in Grenada in less than a year!
@@SailingNahoa That’s awesome! We’ll be here for another year 1/2. I could cook a big meal and stock the fridge with Tings and Caribs. Safe journeys.
@14:30 heart touching moment there guys. Don't know who the dude is, likely will never know. But kudos to him, you just know he is a good guy ♥️
So glad it’s back to “normal” boat repairs and you’re both smiling , happy again.
On the ST60's and the E120, check all your Seatalk connections on all your devices, including any junction blocks or adapters. If just one connection is loose, a device anywhere on the network can lose its power or signal feed and act goofy.
You two are amazing! Plus, you have the sweetest kids. I love the sound of children. It's music to my 65 yr old ears!! God Bless 💖
I've been watching your journey for about two years - the four of you are great, it's real-life adventures.
I love following your little family around the world! Have been since 2019
Excellent structural repair Ben.
11:32 - and then, there's "Chef B" - rockin' it.
Another awesome day in paradise.
Love the way your living your life and raising your children.
Respect and a big thumbs up to all of you.
Love your little family and your escapades💕
maybe I don't get it correct. but when the bridgedeck is bent cause of rotten structure and you just put some new material in, it will be still bend. And I'm pretty sure that will lead to preblems with the rig. or when a rigger tightens the rigg new. cause the whole geometry doesn't fit anymore!?
Thank you Ben for the encouragement and words of wisdom, big helps to keep me moving. Take care always team nahoa
Nice to see you pulled through.
You will LOVE the Vesper. They have recently been purchased by Garmin. I always found Vesper in New Zealand to be very responsive. The transfer to Garmin took a bit, but Garmin is now up to speed and I have had a very good experience. To your point, Vesper support is now through Garmin.
I have been using Surfshark in the caribbean for 6 months and I love it.
The downside of being hacked is so huge we never go without a VPN like surfshark
Willa: 'Here you go'
Wow it's so amazing to see her grow up and use her words! Keep up the great work, Nahoa Crew!
Great videos. Keep up the good work! Maybe I missed it but did you ever find the source of the leak that caused the damage???
I just love it when you guys wind people up by giving the kids sharp pointy objects on unstable surfaces; it's hilarious!
God Bless that kindly gentleman. Heart warming.
Thank you guys for sharing your lives with us! Great video! Love how you show the difficulties of filming with young kids. Our kids are 21 & 17 now but I can remember how hard it was just to talk on the phone for a few minutes when they were small. See you next week!

💯 I really think you figured out how to keep track of the little one just sit them in the bucket
Reaffirming, reassuring, real humanity.
go by Canarias & cape Verde islands... not just it would be good, then will get back wind towards usa
Two beautiful souls on that hill that you met.
I had an ST60. The problem is the new one “alarms” the whole system. The ST60 is software upgradable through the chart plotter. I suspect a software incompatibility issue. Easy to check.I would assume the new one is Ok hardware wise and try two things:
Cheers! ⛵️🍻🇨🇦🤙
im very happy you got the boat fixed, quite extraordinary especially with little blonde king kong..
You guys looked super happy in the video. Sometimes the small victories make it all worth it. All the best!!!
The way you face the problem is inspiring. Keep doing what u love. I don't have the money support you but i have watched every video you uploaded. May you finish what you have started! Fair winds and following seas to you and your family!
The "Spoon" is to scoop the gel out of the coconut after you split it in half. It's very good.
What a beautiful encounter, love it
Good to see you having fixed your boat.
I lovely little family travelling around the world that is. One that warms me
"So it's exciting, we will get a new floor out of the deal!" Always see it from the bright side!
Yep as already said look for green corrosion and dry solder joints Hopefully this will be the issue
♥️♥️♥️♥️ that man was soooo kind and loving 🥰 gives me hope that there is still good in this world !! Xoxo and kiddies are just precious!!
Wonderful surprise coconut, like manna from heaven. But Ashley with a glass of cold wine, that made me smile. You all deserve to kick back once in a while. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
All the best guys. You have really been through it.
seems like repair went back pretty easily!!!! GREAT!... stil curious about "settling port hull" issue " & leaning main amst... Love & Respect!
Glad to see you guys are at least making the most of the place your in even if its not exactly where you would have liked to have stopped!
