This has to be one of the best videos about the techniques of not just sailing, but also on best practices while owning or chartering a sail boat . Excellent work
Man, I love the new design of the Bering. It doesn't hurt to get the tour by a handsome man such as yourself. The 2 of us could run that Bering with no problem at all. We would definitely live abroad and travel the world. I get paid no matter where I live. You could take an early retirement, and we would have a great life.
Ok , I just binge watched all of 6 hours of ‘catamaran sailing’ with Capt Igor , and as Igor used to take care of ‘our’ boat (before we bought it from the active cruises company) I now know where all the little smart things come from ! Dinghy fenders , carabiner hooks , down haul lines , added blocks etc . Igor added them and they make life so much easier ! I just need to learn how to sail because even after 2 years (from Croatia to panama) I dislike how slow the boat is ? But it’s probably sail trim as Igor says the L42 is / should be just as fast as the L46 ! Anyway , Igor practices what he preaches and I love his down to earth approach incl the spaghetti and what typically goes wrong Blue Pearl Too prev ‘Mala Kate’ Ps were taking good care of her just like you did 😊
Igor you are the best but also the funniest sailor I have ever met or seen on youtube. Great information on you series on Catamaran's, I plan on purchasing on in the next year and the anxiety of going from a monohull to a mutlihull has been lessened by watching your vids. Thank you Sir and keep up the on boat sailing adventures!
Hi Igor. I just finished watching all 3 parts of your "How to Sail a Catamaran" series of videos. Thank you for providing so much very useful information and showing us how beautiful Croatia is. Well done sir.

Love your videos Igor. Wish I could sail with you to learn more. You seem like a top bloke. Croatia looks amazing. the Monohull at 3:25 minutes Is unbelievable. The ego of those people is just unbelievable. Lots of cowboys over there. Some have too much money but no knowledge. If you ask them they will tell you they know everything haha. Thank you for the knowledge. One of the best sailing tutorials around. Maybe a lady in a bikini would boost the channel's numbers a little haha. All the best mate. Zdravo
That last part so typical of marinas world wide. People need to learn seamanship before they ruin their boats and others boats. Love your cat it's awesome and this was a great informative video.
Great job, a sailing vid that actually is educational lol. Just finished a passage as crew on a 450 Lagoon from Carnis Australia to Kupang Indonesia Oct Nov.
Remember that the KEY for catamaran cruising and making effective passages is V>M>G. Velocity made good (not necessarily only to windward) and includes tacking both upwind and downwind... Most cats have a preferred angle related to wind angle, so always look to your instruments for best VMG to your destination, and tack according to best VMG.
Greetings from a new subscriber in Tucson, Arizona USofA. I just discovered your channel and have learned SO much in such a short amount of time. I'm planning to move to the Sea of Cortez and am looking at 3-4 boats in San Carlos.
Other then skipping the Columbia River bar which as u said numerous times about planning . Which is a must but the last 15times over this bar the boat was on autopilot and wonderful conditions all because of planning. Astoria is great and illwaco is a nice little town with a gas dock and England marine . It is a tight entrance so stay within the bouys and follow the chart.

I really enjoyed your movie, I have a 30ft cat and would one day like a bigger boat, the 46 looks like a good size, a good idea teaching people the rules of the sea and good seamanship, I sometimes have troubles as I am usually on my own with one outboard in the centre, that means my 30ft boat sometimes feels like a 46fter. Thanks for all your good advice 🙏😊 3:51:05 Bollard I believe, in English.
Most people don't let anywhere near enough chain out - even experienced skippers. If you can free dive or snorkel it's worth taking a look and seeing how the chain ended up...
Good video. Look up how to properly attach the chain to the anchor. You want it attached with high strength zip ties at the end where you have the chain now and chain it to the other eyelet closes to the plow. That way if the anchor gets jammed when trying to retrieve it, it will break the zip ties and lift straight up on the plow
LoL I fell asleep and YT auto-picked this vid for me. I woke up to 35 mins (exaggerated??) of him going on and on and on about the small sail and how great it is. Was that a low key subliminal ad for ACTIVE CRUISES!?
We just did this route (July) and watched this episode in preparation. Unfortunately as we rounded the bend and were just 10nm from the anchorage we lost our steering gear and drifted for a day before being found by Yemeni fishermen who towed us 50nm back to socotra. I remember those waves and wind speeds well! Our boat is still anchored next to the wreck, awaiting to be fixed!

I think I would have stayed out on anchor or on a mooring ball and come to town with the dinghy. Not pretending to be an expert but seems to me the issue with that genoa is that its too big for where the traveler is located so you don't have enough backward pull to shape it appropiately and so that's why you have to add that extra line. If you had a track or something with a car pushed back you would be able to pull it nicely without having to add that extra line :0
Something tells me that you weren't expecting everyone to fall out of the dinghy and into the water! I think that they may have pulled a good joke on you there!
Sorry if I missed this does it have a black tank for the toilet? Saw another one of their vans that did not have a black tank for the toilet. Thought that was very odd.

Hey! I’m doing research into dinghy sailing the Great Lakes and wanted to know what advise or info you have. I saw your video from 8 years ago on the Croatian coast. My trip is ~500 miles ~800km I was thinking it would take 30 days. Based on your speed it might be 20? And advise on how to not kill myself?

with the 3-5 times depth rule you should include the distance form water to the attachment points of the anchor bridle for the depth.
so: 2 meters of water would give 6 - 10meters of chain (theoreticaly)

Haven’t sailed it yet.
Do it smart 🙌
@@IgorStropnik I’ve been a canoe guide for two summers, 14 day trips are what I normally take out but it’s inland lakes. I’ve got the waterproof bags. No dry suit, but I’m thinking about getting one. I’ve got a gps, I’m a tad surprised you don’t have a vhf handheld. But 100% do it smart
@@MattSullivn You can do it! 🙌
@@MattSullivn requesting "advice" -you're not "advising" him on anything
@@Mars21681 idk wym tbh
1:31 the water is gin clear, but where is the sea life?
Not much. Overfished. But no sharks 🦈😃
video molto interessante, fatto molto bene e spiegato con tanta competenza, peccato non sia in italiano, grazie mille comunque
Thanks 🙏🍻
Why not use a bridle at mooring? They support very nicely.
Doesn’t work in Croatia. Explained in details before.
Thank you!
🙏👍🙌🍻
Like how you sail. Start a race. but don’t inform the other parties the race is on.
They know. Sixth sense 😃
@@IgorStropnik anchoring in posidonia?? bad very bad.
Great clip

1:03:38 the man has skills.
According to your experience, an omun trimaran catamaran is more stable. Thanks for your answer.
Cruising cats and tris are all plenty stable. Tris have little more side movement than cats.
@@IgorStropnik thanks a lot
