I can't believe that I've watched a grown man surviving and enjoying the rainforest for almost 2 hours that I stumbled upon on my feed. Just admiring the beauty, well-scripted, humorous and yet very knowledgeable content. The saying of to "thank the nature as well as to know that She's well sufficient to sustain on itself" is a great reminder for myself as to how we should view life itself as a whole. I myself had a few trips on a remote island off the coast of Singapore, Pulau Ubin. Exploring, learning and surviving the bits of pieces of nature!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful story/content of yours. Definitely deserved a sub!! To more in the future, cheers!
Pity his instructor did not show him how to catch one small fish and live bait it straight away to catch a bigger fish. Or to get his body into ketosis before starting, then he could have got going on fishing and forget eating a palm heart that gives you macronutrients and zero else. This was slightly better than Starvival Man, but he never went with a bow and fishing gear. Besides being bitten/stung or being eaten by a Jaguar, all this boiled down to the fact he built his own shelter, that he would have been fcuked if it was the rainy season. I would even bet his camp was about a ten-minute walk from the nearest town lol.
@@ConspiracyPunditso what? He built a shelter and went outside. Most of us stay indoors and watch videos like this sitting down in our boring lives. Go touch some grass too
Yo bro ,Can i remind you the Good news? If so. Know this, God, Creator of both heaven and earth, Saw our sins, He saw how wicked we are, How we should go to hell, But God did something, He limited himself to the form of a servant, To not be served but to serve, His name is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, Died for all of us, He took the price of our sins, And all because he loves you. Romans 10:9 says, If you confess with you mouth Jesus Christ is Lord. and believe in your heart that he has risen from the dead, Youll be saved. Believe, And Know Jesus Christ is the way, Jesus calls all of us, To repent, He gives all of us a chance, Its as if Gof extends his entire hand to save you, But you are the one who should reach back, Always know His stand wont change. Until its too late, so please Try and Repent 🙏🏼✝️😊
One tip with those water purifying drops! When you're shaking the bottle initially, have the cap a little bit loose so that it can get into the crevices of the thread, then tighten and shake after. I've heard of people getting sick after using iodine tablets because of living bacteria that were hiding in the thread of their container which didn't get affected because the container was shut tight from the start. Loving the content, keep it up bro!
Agree. It’s also wise to loosen the lid/thread and pour some out of the bottle so it flows over them and mixes with the contaminated water. Let sit for an hour minimum. This should be done at the beginning, immediately after collecting the water. Seriously, filtration and sterilization of water is no joke. Water Filtration is very simple with soils, sands, charcoal, and leaves or fabric. Chemical-free Sterilization is also very simple providing you can bring water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes or a good simmer for 45 minutes.
@@ayadetunji when you fill the bottle and put a drop of that iodine, make sure the close to cap (but not all the way because of the explanation above) and then shake the bottle. after that wait the 15 mins then you should be able to drink it without an issue you can actully see that at the 1:23:35 mark that when he shakes the bottle, drops of water can be seen falling onto his pants

First time looking into the comments on his videos an i really love the positive vibes here. As someone who deeply struggles with mental illness it grounds me to see so many people speak openly about it because often we feel like nobody gets us... but in reality there are so many people who know what you go through. That gives me a sense of lightness. Knowing i am not alone.
No, you are NOT alone. It is a hard thing to talk about, but we need to do so. I'm not a total believer in the myth that "A problem shared is a problem halved." But I have discovered that sharing problems and concerns with others lightens the load tremendously. Best of luck to you my friend.
There are a lot more then us ppl that do suffer from mental illness then most seem to realize and yes it does help to talk about it.But most are afraid too because they think society will be little them witch for the most part is true.. but there are more us then them so it's good to see comments like this I hope it gets number one to help spread the awareness. Cheers man stay strong. Take care
i like the way you appreciate the little things, like when you tell yourself that "best part about the jungle is there's sticks everywhere", where you are in the middle of the forest by yourself. It's important to keep telling yourself good things, no matter how small, you're awesome mate!

I was secretly praying "please don't eat it, please don't eat it.." then he just popped it into his mouth like it was popcorn at the cinema.... I love survival videos tho, the effort in this one is crazy over the roof. My man came PREPARED.
Man, I used to live in the same Amazon just on the Brazilian side. There are some big palm leaves that would’ve been great for this build. They’re usually in the valley’s between hills in the muddy section. On those palm trees there’s a little fruit with water in them that are known to the locals for curing stomach aches. This sure brought back some memories and nostalgia. Cheers, won my sub.

The best thing for me in these videos is the thought "Ok, the fact that I'm watching this video means that the dude survived to upload it, so he's gonna be ok".
Yep that looks authentic and well done. I was 3 months in the Bolivian Amazon with a week of total (10 miles on foot off-grid) survival training. Forget 'the fancy weaponry', a basic reliable knife, locals machete and the fishing line is a lifeline. Water, shelter, fire. After a few days no food it feels like it matters less, you don't feel it, and water is always the priority. Thx for the vid, that prominent bird-call in the background is a major flashback from 40 years ago...
Damn Xander, such a huge change of surroundings and you are still handling yourself like a boss. I started watching your videos when you were still way below 100k subs and can't believe how far you have come. Awesome!
While I agree with what you're saying, Bear had a film crew with him and he usually did some over-the-top survival things to keep the show exciting. IMO, especially with these recent survival challenges, Xander is reminding me more and more of Les Stroud. One man, a camera, and a bunch of days in some unfamiliar remote wilderness. Mad respect for Xander, it's fun watching him find comfort in uncomfortable situations.
this guy seems real, i have an issue about bear grills and reality. i used to live in the Donner lake area near Truckee California , this is in the "high Sierra" Nevada mountains.(the Donner party cannibalism thing happened nowhere near there, lol). we were working on a new Chalet up on the mountain, if memory serves,it was around 7700 foot elevation. We drove down to Truckee for lunch one day, just for fun, we had 4 - 5 feet of snow on the ground, as we neared the restaurant ,looked over at the creek and there were lights and reflectors, and diffusers everywhere, we got into the parking lot and we realised someone was filming, figured it was a scene for a movie, happens a lot in that area, went inside to eat and one of the guys asked what was going on, she says,, some guy named bear, is filming. she was an older woman and she says, guess this guy is famous, well he told me he is, seemed pompous and full of himself to me,, we all hadda laugh, after we ate, the owner took us out and some guy comes running up, yellin at us to leave, big muscular guy, says "leave or ill move you myself", so three of the 6 of us took our coats n shirts off, i stood 6' 6",weighed 220 when heavy and had 22" biceps, the other two werent much smaller, dude says.. so were filming a segment for bear grills, just keep quiet and ill overlook ya being here lol. and we all had a good laugh, which got bear grills attention so he came up from where they were by the creek, he started out wrong right away. he was talking tough and the guard dude just said,, them three dudes are huge, i dont think youll intimidate them bro.. which made us all laugh again,, except for grills, he just walked away. so after that i taped the show and would watch to see what they had done, we all thought it would have been about the Sierras, nope was about him slipping into water that was hidden with a "snow bridge". in Alaska!! i guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do huh?
Maybe others watch your videos because they like this stuff, I started to watch you for the only reason I'm studying English and I was looking for a you know "native program or something like that, but what I was not expecting is that I got stuck in your videos, I truly love all of them, thanks for this content!

I like you, bro. You exploit your strengths and respect your weaknesses. You tread lightly and leave nothing but footprints and memories. Keep being a good human, Xander. Peace.
Xander was right, he didn't hurt anything but holy shit how can you say he left only footprints? He razed several square meters of forest to the ground. That's clear-cutting hundreds or thousands of plants. That's one very huge footprint right there.
@@RyanMclain Really? (1) It's a figure of speech from the Countryside Code "take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints." and (2) The Amazon rainforest is losing land at a rate of roughly 10,000 acres per day. The amount of damage Xander caused would have grown back over and repaired itself in a matter of a couple of weeks if not sooner. No different than what most people do in their own yards each summer. Birds, insects and mammals can relocate a few meters without concern. Burn 10,000 acres and they have nowhere to go. Get a sense of perspective dude.
@@RyanMclainas long as no one does anything else there like farming it’ll grow back really fast. The rain forest is a highly competitive environment. The forest doesn’t take long to recover if left alone.

A little tip for ferro rods... keep your "Steel" stationary, holding it down with force. Pull your ferro rod back. This generates larger and hotter sparks than moving the steel and keeping the ferro still. I know it sounds counter intuitive but it make a big difference. Oh also the rigid straight "hard angled edge" of the back of your blade is much better to use than the sharp cutting edge. For one it prevents edge damage but also again helps product larger and hotter sparks.
A few tips, Machete: You really need a machete that has a bit more weight in the forward section. It will cut a lot easier being forward heavy. Grind the spine to 90° so it can be used as a scraper on dry wood for tinder dust. It’s both very useful and saves the edge from unnecessary dulling. I know Tramontina/Imacasa are extremely popular in the Amazon - and South America in general - but they do make other models. The water vine: After it’s been cut both ends and starts to slow down you’ll need to cut a bit more off of each end to get it to flow again as they close up relatively quickly. Fire: While I fully understand that starting fires in the jungle is the hardest place to start them, you need to work on your fire technique. There’s only two people I can recommend for tips and ideas: David West and Cody Lundin. Both have perfect technique and numerous alternate methods. Excessive use of a ferro rod like that is a great waste of resources that someday may become your only fire resource. In the first place, I would just take a Bic lighter and a few pieces of bicycle inner tube rubber to start fires in the jungle…over the short term, that is. Clearing the ground of leaf litter: It’s quicker, more efficient, and far safer to grab a branch about 5-6’ long, tie the circumference of it at around 1-2’ from the end, split the end into 4-8 sections, wedge some twigs between them to open it up and then tie it off. This gives you a very quick and rudimentary broom that will last many months and keep your limbs from harms way. Grabbing random leaves and crushing them can also be dangerous in the Amazon as many of them can cause us problems, from simple irritations to actual death. Some have very tiny needle like spines on the underside, totally obscured from above. I say all this to help you, not to pull you down. Good luck in the future. Edit: Also a very valuable tool in the forest is a folding saw like a Silky 270, 360, or similar. Way less effort to cut branches and dead wood than trying to chop it with a machete and it also saves your machetes edge for more important things. A small Knife (3-4” flat ground blade in a simple carbon steel like 1080, 1095 etc), large Machete (forward heavy, carbon steel), and a small Saw are mandatory out there.
One very nice piece of equipment that I bring is a sturdy (don’t laugh) umbrella, keep it close and don’t be afraid to use it, the amount of insects like biting ants it keeps off you is huge, not to mention those sudden downpours. Try it you’ll like it.
bro its takes lots of courage to do this. by yourself outside while filming its truly incredible. your're a brave individual man. thats the right mindset
Amazon Jungle is a rain forest, as my geography teacher explained: The forest is there because it rains, not the other way around. Even if you cut all the tress, they will grow up again, because it rains pretty much every day there. They took 20 years plus to make a road that crosses the amazon forest in Brazil. And that was the challenge indeed, because they clear an area, and the next day the bush was starting to take over again. Well done brother, that is not for the faint hearted, big balls for being on your own that jungle on that shelter.
I love watching your videos at night for some reason. It has become a habit actually. It’s very satisfying to watch you do survival stuff which is so inspiring and entertaining at the same time. That fish bbq did look so good though. 🙌🏼🙌🏼♥️

There's a few around, but there are some many fakes that they can be hard to find. Some of the people who were on the show Alone have channels that are pretty authentic, Zach Fowler, the winner of season 3 who lasted like 90 days by himself, has some great videos and challenges like this one.
@@kahome I'm Canadian as well, and Zach's 'crime' is kind of lame so I don't hold it against him. Ian Runkle of Runkle of the Bailey did a video about it, but essentially he was invited by a Canadian bushcrafter (I believe it was Greg Ovens) to collaborate on filming a survival challenge, and Zach trusted that Greg, being a Canadian local to the area, would know what the laws were. He was charged based on his own footage that showed them cutting trees to build a shelter, catching fish, and flying drones. None of those things would be a problem if they had the correct licenses, however they didn't realize they had crossed onto National Park land when they were driving dirt fire roads looking for a site to make camp. So yeah, technically he broke the law, but it's not like him and Greg were trying to illegally fish commercially or anything. They were just being dumb and didn't check the local laws before doing a survival challenge.

Coffee speeds up metabolism.

Thats Good advice tnx
Iodine doesn’t kill parasites I’m pretty sure it only kills bacteria and viruses. It should be filtered at the very least
Can you explain this and rephrase in like a step by step
@@ayadetunji when you fill the bottle and put a drop of that iodine, make sure the close to cap (but not all the way because of the explanation above) and then shake the bottle. after that wait the 15 mins then you should be able to drink it without an issue
you can actully see that at the 1:23:35 mark that when he shakes the bottle, drops of water can be seen falling onto his pants

They’re usually in the valley’s between hills in the muddy section. On those palm trees there’s a little fruit with water in them that are known to the locals for curing stomach aches. This sure brought back some memories and nostalgia. Cheers, won my sub.

Remember guys when we grew up watching Bear Grills on TV ? Well now we have Xander.
Amazing content gg
Same here bro. I’m growing up with man vs wild and animal planet, watching this guys got me feel that good old day.
but this time everything is real
While I agree with what you're saying, Bear had a film crew with him and he usually did some over-the-top survival things to keep the show exciting.
IMO, especially with these recent survival challenges, Xander is reminding me more and more of Les Stroud. One man, a camera, and a bunch of days in some unfamiliar remote wilderness. Mad respect for Xander, it's fun watching him find comfort in uncomfortable situations.
So true
this guy seems real, i have an issue about bear grills and reality. i used to live in the Donner lake area near Truckee California , this is in the "high Sierra" Nevada mountains.(the Donner party cannibalism thing happened nowhere near there, lol). we were working on a new Chalet up on the mountain, if memory serves,it was around 7700 foot elevation.

Peace.
Such lovely words! 😊
@@RyanMclainyeah that isn’t just a footprint but it isn’t that bad for the forest as a whole

Super insightful !
A few tips,
Machete:
You really need a machete that has a bit more weight in the forward section.
The water vine:
After it’s been cut both ends and starts to slow down you’ll need to cut a bit more off of each end to get it to flow again as they close up relatively quickly.
Fire:
While I fully understand that starting fires in the jungle is the hardest place to start them, you need to work on your fire technique.
Clearing the ground of leaf litter:
It’s quicker, more efficient, and far safer to grab a branch about 5-6’ long, tie the circumference of it at around 1-2’ from the end, split the end into 4-8 sections, wedge some twigs between them to open it up and then tie it off.
A small Knife (3-4” flat ground blade in a simple carbon steel like 1080, 1095 etc), large Machete (forward heavy, carbon steel), and a small Saw are mandatory out there.
yk he is a survival expert?
backseatsurvivor haha
The best thing about an expert is that they're always trying to learn easier and better ways to do what they do.
Just use a tire and a lighter in the jungle, trust me bro
Lost me at Bic lighter 🤦♂️
One very nice piece of equipment that I bring is a sturdy (don’t laugh) umbrella, keep it close and don’t be afraid to use it, the amount of insects like biting ants it keeps off you is huge, not to mention those sudden downpours. Try it you’ll like it.
You've surpassed yourself so much with this episode Mr Budnick! Don't ever stop my man! Be careful and stay safe dude!! 🏴
bro its takes lots of courage to do this. by yourself outside while filming its truly incredible. your're a brave individual man. thats the right mindset
Also, the soil can't naturally sustain the forest, but all of the nutrients come from the Sahara dust which blows across the Atlantic.

@@LoreTunderin I used to watched them until they committed a crime in Canada lol. They did an illegal fishing.
