Hi Xander. I am very gratefull for your videos. In 2020 I lost my dad in a car accident and my mon was very injured, she needed an emergency surgery and stayed in ICU for about a month. To entertain her during our lost, we started to see your videos. We really enjoy your trips and we're fascinated with Canada landscapes. Its such a beatifull country. We also love when you eat your enourmos steaks. I hope someday I can bring her to Canada to meet a moose (although they're not particularly friendly) Greetings from Brazil. Gabriel and Daniela Froes. Happy hollidays to you
Man i love watching how your videos evolve through the seasons, there is not a single video you've put out in 3 years that i haven't thoroughly enjoyed, my favourite youtuber by far, thanks for the inspiration from Ryan, North wales! Your content has truly changed my life, and has pushed me through my struggles and gotten me comfortable with the great outdoors
What do you mean thanks for the inspiration from Ryan? If you mind me asking, what struggles have you gotten through? So it may help others. And how are you comfortable with the great outdoors? What does this mean?
Xander and Luke from “outdoor boys” are like the same person. Just pure wholesome vibes spent in picturesque landscapes doing cool nature shit. I wanna see them do a video together!
This looks like an amazing setup for at least 2 campers - having 2 people could probably mean that you can sleep longer and being sure that more people is looking after the fire - also, 30 degrees inside, while it is -10 outside that is an insane difference - one can only imagine how cozy, like super cozy, this would get with a matress, a blanket and a pillow, after almost a whole day of gathering firewood this must be an amazing experience, and considering the simplicity of the setup, I cannot help but feel like the knowledge of this shelter could save a lot of good souls out in the cold.
This is Mors Kochanski creation, the man that coined the term BUSHCRAFT, the Neck knife, and the Mores Kochanski SUPER SHELTER, if you call your self a bushcrafter, you should know this!
I don't know why but enjoy watching your camping videos over alot of other channels brother, please keep them coming, the winter ones are pretty awesome
This is a classical double nodia. Very common in Urals and Siberia. To impress efficiency of this fire you need to use another one big log in front of two logs. To increase warm isolation on the ground you need to made a log bed and put your sticks on it. It also improves total comfort of your sheltered night..
You could also light a second fire where you plan to set up the shelter more early in the day and when readto build the shelter just move the fire to the final location. The groun beneath your shelter will then be very warm to sleep upon. It helps to bring a large animal fur with the leather on one side to put ontop of the pine bows.
My brother-in-law camped like this with a hammock. Tarp on the backside and visqueen down the front. Used binder clips to close it all up. VERY toasty no matter how cold. He would say he could camp very comfortably in any kind of weather except high wind. "Wind changes everything" he said. RIP Dare-babe
I love your short adventures where you challenge your outdoor skills. What a cool set up, amazing how warm it was. Love your bannock sausages. Look forward to more adventuring Xander
As usual another amazing video. You are in a class of your own man. I so enjoy your ideas and honesty as to how things turned out. Safe travels and lol ing forward to your next outing
I get so addicted to these videos. Just watching how you try new things, learn, make mistakes, and keeping good spirits. I get completely calm and peaceful watching you blend with nature, using her with respect and the meals you make for yourself (that part is always the funniest). Keep 'm coming!
Supershelters are super cool :) I think the idea is the transparent side doesn't let the infrared light through once the other wavelengths warm the inside. That almost looked like a Finnish rakovalkea fire lay. They're pretty neato too. A 50C difference is insane! Thanks for bringing us along
you act and sound exactly like a juvenile and just attempted to make another terrible joke. No one's thinking about juveniles, you just happen to act exactly like an annoying, obnoxious, queer juvenile that's been created by the Biden administration.

Hi Xander , that looked like a very cozy shelter, quite the fire that kept you warm and toasty, happy and impressed with the set up, your pancakes 🥞🥞looks yummy 😋😋, starting to really enjoy watching winter camping , you make it look very adventurous, thank you for sharing and bringing us all along, can’t wait for the next one 😊😊 Merry Christmas 🎄
Hey, Xander! My boyfriend and I, have been watching your videos for like over a year now. We're from the Philippines. We love your cinematography since we aspire to be one. You were an inspiration to us! Your vids make us sleep during our calls. Thank you so much! Hope you have a very good christmas and a happy new year!
I’ve seen other folks making these, and have been carrying a saw, hatchet, drop cloth and emergency blanket in my winter emergency car kit, just in case. It also has a fire starter set, a mirror, a full change of warm clothes, a bunch of slim Jim’s that I cycle out every two weeks and three bottles of water. After finding a cheap one at a garage sale, I added a sleeping bag. I started this kit after I was almost stranded on the wrong end of the freeway while camping just prior to the Northridge earthquake. The kit takes up one plastic crate in my trunk, so totally doable, and it really gives me peace of mind. It takes up about the same amount of space as the car emergency kit I got from Costco years ago, which I also highly recommend.
Likewise. In my truck I keep one of those big plastic tub things with the snap on lid, with plastic drop sheet, a couple of the mylar blankets, paracord, fire starting supplies, etc. just in case I'm ever stuck out in a cold weather situation and need to do something like this. And of course there's a saw and a axe in the truck as well.
appreciate the 4K...of all the outdoor adventures, your's rank near the top...simple...concise...GREAT fire...simple foods...great techniques...well done.
Absolutely amazing video. I'm in Ottawa and the snow has mostly melted but watching your videos has me almost wanting to go myself but in the meanwhile I'll enjoy your experience through very enjoyable editing and humor. PS. I love that you put in an old clip of a tree fall and did temp check with and without drop sheet. Great work!
‘Slide them under your bed’ infers there’s a gap between the bed and the floor, which is also useful to make sure the ground doesn’t draw all the heat from you. But yeah ‘uh 🤓☝️ actually, put dirt on them and lie on top of them, would also work, good job

Pretty cool to see you put some survival theories into application. I know it’s totally different experience when you’re out there all by yourself vs people like us watching this from the comfort of our home. For those wanna get into this it takes at least 5 times camping alone to get used to the feeling. I was scared the first time, couldn’t sleep, body feel sticky. Autumn or cool climate is the best time for beginner to get a few trips in. Xander considered as expert the way he’s comfortable in these situations, maybe there are also emergency contact he can reach which is importance to have prepared and arrange a head of time with your friend or family, everyday if you don’t call in, they will come and find you.
I find it amusing that you use a celsius temp scale, so it's in not -10F but +14F. That's still cold but the 24 degree difference is huge when it comes to being able to allow skin exposure.

Great video I like the super shelters for emergencies simple to set up and work well! Really laughed when you did the recap of the falling tree your a funny dude! We’ll done
I was really waiting to become snowy in Canada. Just watched some old videos from you yesterday. I love this style of content, walking in the woods, collecting a ridiculous huge amount of wood, have some food (also too much) and enjoy. I would just say for me, the season has started again. :)) Oh yeah, last weekend i also had an outdoor trip. Filmed it for the first time, hopefully it will be a good vid as yours.
Awesome night out Xander. That super shelter is a game changer in a winter survival situation. Kelly Halton, one of More' top students, developed the Harlton Hacienda. Takes the super shelter to the next level. They also recommend a raised bed in the winter. Gets you away from the cold ground. Nate
If you make a aluminum foil reflector on back side of fire your heat increases dramatically, I typically use green sticks about 3 ft long and make it curved
Nicely done! Last year I did a similar Mors Kochanski setup but fire was too small and NO bow-bed underneath me…it was a tad chilly haha but survivable.
One of Mors best inventions together with the parachute nylon tube(2m long and 70cm wide useful as bag, scarf, mantle, mattress, light weight blanket... made by taking 2m long full width ripstop nylon, fold double length and sewn with a flat fell seam then ends hemmed. l seen supershelter made by spray glueing a space blanket to ripstop with about 60-75cm nylon sticking out three sides (allowing back to be tucked underto prevent draught) and one side had flat felled in a strip of nylon only about 10cm wide with loops on the corners of the spaceblanket (leaving the 10cm flap outside) the loops where for ridgeline to be toggled on with prussik loops. poly tarp she stuck on with gorilla tape on the 10cm flap , it held up a whole week, she said the poly had to be replaced every now and then but she had used same back for over two months total outdoors.
This is exactly how I heat my home except I use the 650 and a custom saw horse. Minus the plastic sheeting 😂 such a good feeling stacking wood that you felled by hand, carried on your shoulder, and split by hand.
Get a piece(s) of metal pipe (not galvanized) and put it in a ditch at the base of your fire. Angle the pipe up with one end outside, lower and away from the fire and one end higher in your shelter. This setup will draw air up the pipe, through the fire to be heated and in to your shelter. You'll be at 70+ degrees F in no time.

A tip for cold sleeping ground. Stick some rocks in the fire till they’re hot enough to last a while, and slide them under your bed
Uh... More like cover the hot rocks with dirt and then put the bedding on it.
‘Slide them under your bed’ infers there’s a gap between the bed and the floor, which is also useful to make sure the ground doesn’t draw all the heat from you.

doesn’t work long term, you’ll be hot for a few minuets. Then the rocks will cool down.
Not exactly necessary with the type of structure he created, he’ll be plenty warm in that setup. Just ask Cody Lundin
