- Seriously, I'm not claiming to have "The Best Motovlogging Setup" But I have learned some tricks over the years and I'll be sharing those with you guys today. Not only are we going to do a quick motorcycle helmet build but I have also included a Motovlog to test things out and so that you can see and hear the result of what we put together. I have tried a ton of different things over the years, so far these are my favorite ways to a diy motovlogging helmet including adding 2 microphones and customizing a cardo packtalk slim on the Shoei gt Air 2 helmet. Shout out to The Bolt Hole Biker for giving me the confidence to kinda copy what he did. he cut and added back the plastics while I chose to just fill the space in with sugru. Every time I build a new motovlog helmet setup it's almost like the first time again, positioning wires, mics and all the equipment you use. at least that is one thing I know, I know what equipment to buy and use though I do like to experiment with new things and ways. after doing this video I had to adjust my second mic and wire placement (the yadapter was pressing on my head) I thought it was the second mic as I was saying in this video but later found out it was indeed the Y-adapter. I have adjusted things and finally got the wires situated on this tight helmet. I'm not sure yet but I may experiment with moving the mic around. My wife has the RF-1400 and she feels its very loud. I went from the Bell Eliminator Carbon to the Arai Quantum X. I can tell you the Arai is not only incredibly comfortable, SNELL certified but it is also noticibly quieter. I have a hard time hearing just talking to my wife with the helmet on and off the bike. Great helmet. Nice video, thank you!

From my experience GT air 2 is one of the quietest one, however what I noticed is that it gets more noise when I have the cafe fairing on, it's quiet when there is no fairing. I realized my fairing was directing the wind straight into that open vent on the top and wind deflecting from there was the reason for noise. I remove fairing and it's really good.
Moral of the story, there are factors to consider than just the helmet, fairing or wind deflectors being one of them.
Yeah i hear ya, but i think even my iCon has less noise though i do love the Shoei

Would love to see how you mounted the cardo slim to the helmet. Most helmets opting to go sena way built in is putting me off buying them
I have the Shoei Air 2. I just wear earplugs 😎. I bought the chin mount and hope it sticks. I didn’t know I needed to use sugru. Hope I don’t lose my Hero 10😓

I took the side price off, dremeled a little off the plastic still on the helmet, then forced on the packtalk slim and filled it in with sugru.

I have the same problem with helmets. Wind comes in in the jaw area. What i think its my problem is that i have a long oval head and most helmets are round oval. Icon and ls2 have long oval shapes
My problem with this one is the back, weird... I added something to the back to block wind coming in but it didn't help, I guess it's just the shape on the back.
Could you show how you attached your gopro to the front of your shoei. Isn't that where the air ventilation is?
If you click the link in description you will see what mount i used, i attached with double sided tape then added sugru around it. The vent is still functional. I believe this video shows me adding it?
How did You mount the cardo slim on the side of the helmet. Like the review..
took off the side plastic piece (cut a little with dremel), pushed the packtalk slim into place then filled in with sugru
Great video thanks. Where you have your gopro at does it block the ventilation? I'll be gettin this helmet in the future.
I would suggest against this helmet. It doesn't block vents depending on how you install the mount, but it's a very noisy helmet.

@@locoocho2415 maybe it's not fair for me to just be so straight forward and say not to get it. It really depends on your style of riding etc. If your not going fast, the wind isn't to bad.. if you watch a few of my videos you'll be able to really hear how it is. I haven't yet found a helmet I'm satisfied with (my LS2 was discontinued). But I do like the Shoei other than a few things. If gets really heavy from sweat, the chin strap is back to far and the noise at high speed, other than that I love it.

I also bought a Shoei GT AIR 2 and I'm a bit disappointed with the wind noise, sounds way noisier than my Scorpion EXO1400 which costs half the price of the Shoei.
What people recommend in term is low wind noise is Schubert S2. I haven't tried it, but have seen the helmet in person and at least it looks like there's some engineering addressing the aerodimanics.
It's amazing how hard it is to find a helmet that checks all the boxes... At least this one has most of what I want in a helmet. Wind noise....ehhhh that one is always tough..
Does your windshield flow air to the top intake. I read the Air series is meant for naked bikes. Air hitting the scoop looks like it can cause turbulence.
you dont really need two mics. Puting your primary mic near the speaker will do. It will pick up your voice and your mates very well!

@@dongyamotovlog8505 I have seen the replacement, I think the old one had a better she'll design and I liked the iridium drop down visor. Wish I could see the new style in person and test it out, but don't wanna spend the $$$ on it.

Good question, i heard the rf1400 is quiet but… i heard the same about this one as well.
How have u adjusted the slim to fit the GTA2? I just bought myself the Shoei and tempted to buy the Cardo packtalk. But don't see how u can adjust the slim to fit it.
Take off the plastic side piece, (I cut a little of the plastic remaining on the helmet) put the slim on, then filled it in with Sugru. But it will no longer be removable. There is a guy who made a video on how he did his. I don't think he cut the plastic on his helmet, I just wanted a different placement on mine.

Did you ever find a solution for the noise in your Shoei? I am a new rider and bought one along with my new bike 2 weeks ago. I thought it was just me being a new rider. But the noise in my helmet especially on the freeway is very loud.
Unfortunately... No... There is no fixing the noise in this helmet.. no way that I can find.
Sadly most of the full face helmets are there too loud for com systems... if I use earplugs can’t hear the speakers much especially at high speeds.
Anyway, the wind noise is coming from the bottom of the helmet indeed.
By this time, someone should start to make a decent quality skirt for the helmets.✌️

@@tiborsz9939 with the cardo i have no problem hearing the speakers in a full face helmet (after cutting away cloth covering them). The noise is coming from the back side of the helmet and adding a curtain to the back didn’t help. 😥

I wonder why yours is so loud it's by far the quietest helmet I've ever worn alot quieter than agv icon and ruroc atlas

@@tokutraveler9394 yes its my goto helmet for now. I like the looks and functions. Wish it were more comfortable and quieter. I may try a different version of iCon soon.

I did not think the noise was too bad and could hear the voice clearly at all times, it is quieter when your covering the bottom of the helmet, but was acceptable even without doing that. Keep your hands on the handle bars, one unseen pothole or obstacle in the road could put you in traction.
When I heard it on the computer it's not so bad, while riding I could hear a lot of wind noise. I have a little trick I'm going to try out. Added a leather chin guard to the back, hope to ride tomorrow and see how it works out. Also in this video, I was going slow. I'm hoping for it to stay quiet at speeds above 100mph

Well. For comparison, i have a SDR, the icon airflite FN SUCKS. SO SO so so so loud, so loud, sloppy, loud, air leaks everywhere, even around the glass
I'm not sure what the sdr is but, the one I have is also super loud. And I wouldn't brag on the quality of the shell (my first one came cracked) but iCon nailed it on the padding. Better than any helmet I have ever seen.
I find that 90% of the time the wind noise always comes from the neck.
strange thing is this one comes from the back, and it doesn't seem to be coming in as I added leather to the back. I ordered my Yoshi's today. maybe that extra sound will remove the wind noise some.

Yeah that kinda makes me upset, I researched it a lot and everyone was saying it's quiet. Now that I make this video I hear others talking about how loud it is.
