    Ventilation Performance
    Wind-tunnel optimized to maximize airflow and reduce unwanted noise, the GT-Air II’s three (3) intake and five (5) exhaust vents have been strategically shaped and positioned for improved cool air intake and hot air expulsion. A redesigned upper air intake shutter and enlarged lower air intake opening yield greater airflow throughout the entire helmet.
    Aerodynamics & Noise Reduction
    More than just aggressive styling and aesthetics, the GT-Air II’s progressive shell shape is compact and uniquely streamlined to reduce air resistance and drag. Improved, airtight window beading and an enhanced internal sun shield system prevent unwanted wind noise inside the helmet.
    Shield System
    The GT-Air II’s advanced shield system provides a large, distortion-free view, facilitates smooth and easy shield changes, features an all-new “first position” shield opening, and comes equipped with a lengthened internal sun shield for optimal relief from sun glare in one quick motion.
    Safety
    Few characteristics of a motorcycle helmet are as critically important as its first and second layers of defense, which is precisely why the GT-Air II features the SHOEI-exclusive Multi-Ply Matrix AIM shell and Multi-Piece/Multi-Density EPS liner.
    Comfort
    The GT-Air II is equipped with a fully removable, washable, adjustable, and replaceable 3D Max-Dry Interior System capable of dissipating sweat 2x faster than traditional nylon interiors. Multi-layer cheek pads for comfort and helmet stabilization along with premium two-tone interior fabric and red stitching accentuate the GT-Air II’s unmatched fit and finish.

    This is by far the best review I've seen of the GTA2. It's the ONLY one I've ever seen that shows the levers to limit how far the inner screen drops down, as well as how to remove it entirely. Great job.

    Just bought one because reviews said it’s one of the quietest. It’s quieter than my old AGV K5S but still not as quiet as I hoped for. Apart from that I’m very happy with it and as you say the build quality is very good. Love the ratchet system, better than D rings any day in my opinion. Cost $900 AUD, that’s $668 USD, and that was on special.

    Excellent video.. I have had my GT Air 2 for a year now and its the best helmet I have bought.
    Had a GT Air 1 previously and the 2 is leagues ahead. Riding a naked bike the first thing I noticed
    at speed, the 2 is unbelievably stable, compared to the GT Air 1 which, as with most helmets, you
    get that wobbly head effect that strains the neck muscles. It is also very light and more quiet than
    a lot of helmets I have had. A big thumbs up for this helmet. The sena comms package is excellent too.

    Glad they've done something with the chin spoiler. I have the first GT-Air, and the low frequency "booming" sound generated at the bottom of the helmet was driving me crazy. I ride a naked bike. I had to have a neck-warmer hanging out to distort the wind flow. Eventually I bought the detachable chin spoiler fitted with X-Fourteen, and managed to get that fitted to the GT-Air. Problem solved!

    I found it noticeably louder than a GT Air 1, odd since supposedly it's more aerodynamic. I may try a Neotec 2 due to it's more closed neck. There again you have some saying a modular isn't as quiet as a full face and others saying modulars are quieter. More shops should have wind testing machines for you to test.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  3 года назад +2

      How a helmet fits has a massive impact on how noisy it is. We have found over the years a lot of riders gravitate towards helmets that are one size larger than the size chart would put them in. This will result in excessive noise. Take a minute to get a good measurement and compare it to the Shoei size chart to see if you are in the size they would recommend. - Van

    About the glasses, maybe the padding is not correctly adjusted. At the japanese store where I live, he made some adjustments and it my glasses fit perfectly, no wobble, not hanging.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 года назад

      The only available adjustments would be changing the thickness of the cheek pads. If the helmet was too tight and needed thinner cheek pads to sort that for you I could see that helping with the glasses. - Van

    Here's the thing about their safety standards though: Shoei makes their helmets to their own in-house safety standards. They've been about safety and comfort from the very beginning. Basically any other brand and I'd be skeptical, but Shoei knows what they're doing

    I only recently "upgraded" from the GT Air to the GT Air 2 after 6 years of riding in it. What an absolute disappointment. The top vent might as well not be there for the amount of air it flows - cannot feel anything. Using the vent on the GT Air and I can feel a noticable cooling effect along the top of my head. And I'm not sure what they've done to the aero, but they've managed to spend 6 years of R&D and make it worse. I get this unbearbable low-ish rumbling/rustling sound as the air passes underneath the helmet and makes its way past the chin strap and around my ears. Yes, it is fitted correctly. I've even bought the larger 39mm cheek pads to get the fit even more spot on. I'm trying to return it as defective, or else sell it. Absolutely gutted after spending more than $1400 AUD on it plus the Sena SRL2. Managed to find a last remaining original GT Air from Europe which I have ordered, and cannot wait to get it! Shoei better listen to it's customers for the GT Air 3!

      Sportbike Track Gear cheers for the reply Brian! Have ye guys heard anything back from customers like this for the helmet? I’ve tried them back to back with the original and the new one, and there’s definitely a noticeable constant low wind noise where the wind gets up by the chin strap, in comparison to the original. Moving head position, standing up, different bikes, nothing makes a difference. Very frustrating because I want to love it!

      @@sportbiketrackgear Of course they are a different part # as the Air II sun screen shield is longer.. I did not even know it was removable on the Air I but it only makes sense that they should be removable and thus replaceable
      Maybe the mounting system is totally different I have no idea.. I did just realize that if I put the longer sun visor from the Air II in an Air I being longer it most likely would not fully retract.. I left a comment in the Sena communications install Video for the Air II . That is a very nice set up .. There are some complications with my Cardo Pak Talk Slim which is very similar in lay out to the Sena's system made to install in the Air II Helmet..
