Works great from everything I own from sportbikes, Harleys and ADVs.... 👍 I like Arais also, but my square blockhead has always fit in Shoeis better.
I just bought the Shoei RF 1200. I realized my local bike shop that I was trying to support by buy from their store and not the internet led me to believe the overprice I paid for the RF 1200 was a great helmet instead of telling me about the updated 1400 helmet. After educating myself on the helmets, I wish I would have bought the Bell helmet. It would have been worth the extra money.
IMO most dealers are not amazing at selling gear or aftermarket parts. The should focus on the sale and service of the units. Service is where the money is at if you are good at it. - Van

To finish it off purchase the photochromatic visor and ur sorted for whatever weather u get. P.s. I've loads of expensive helmets from various brands and still revert back to my trusty rf1200

There are a ton of great options out there, really depends on the budget that you are working with. Take a look at the Scorpion helmets, they offer a ton of performance and sell for a fair price. Here is a link to them on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/scorpion-helmets/

I can never wear Shoe. I’ve tried them all. I think I’m long oval because my old Signet was my favorite helmet. I currently wear Schuberth Modulars and the work for me also
If you had a good fit from the Signet odds are the Shoei will not fit you well. The Shoei is intermediate oval and the Signet is long oval. Not sure how the fit of the Schuberth helmets is at this point. - Van

Hey man I'm curious, what are you guys racing in? If you don't answer I'm going to assume Arai. To others I've had the Corsair 5 and X, and if you want a helmet that's great for street and track, that's it.
Looking for a corsair x. U think theyre worth the cash van? Compared to other helmets. I really like that they're FIM Certified and that they're comfortable. Added plus is the looks. Looks great.
hey Brian! let me start of by saying, another awesome review! I'm in the market for a new triumph street triple RS. mainly street riding and often occasional track days. I'm looking for the best safety gear possible, mainly the helmet. budget is irrelevant ( expensive gear is still cheaper then medical bills haha) and I'm stuck between the arai and shoei. Looks, ventilation and comfort are something i would like but my main and only priority is safety! what would you recommend??? (also open to other makes and models if you think are best)
I would give Shoei a slight edge over the Arai. While both are excellent helmets I feel the overall quality of the Shoei is industry leading. Max and I are both in Shoei helmets now. - Van
There is a helmet company with great racing legacy, missing from most USA made reviews, Schuberth. Isn't Schuberth imported in the States or do you think that SR2 isn't up there with the rest of them? Honest question. I got an SR2 to replace Arai Corsair RX7 and I'm very happy with the build quality, the air and the ergonomics, although I don't know if the safety is as good as Arai
@@sportbiketrackgear They had a thing planned for Daytona Bike weekend but don't know if that happened or not since didn't look into it. Something planned for the American Moto GP race as well. Maybe they are building it up and on their way. Anyway. Ewen someone as big as STG can't have all the brands in the world in their line up so it's not a competition or an issue. Love the reviews and content Much appreciated. Keep up the good work. I really have to buy something off you guys even thou I'm on the other side of the globe. Because... When ever I consider buying some bike gear and I look up reviews for it... 95% off the time it's " Hi I'm Brian Van from Sportsbike Track gear..." And the reviews are detailed and honest. So much respect.
Congrats, great content! Could you please consider always tell us where the helmets are made (eg: Arai in Japan; Shark in France and Portugal) and also if they are ECE approval (the least unupdated safety standards). Thanks.
Thanks for watching. Pretty sure we call out the cert for each of the helmets in this video. As for where they are made that is something we can look at adding in the future. - Van
I will tell everyone who reads this comment and give my opinion that I am not Japanese. I worked in the store and saw thousands of AGV helmets specifically all "TOP OF THE LINE" Helmets, Pista, Corsa, etc., etc. Yes, they are good in terms of aerodynamics, unusually beautiful and have more angle of vision in the Visor. So far everything is fine . The problem starts with the fact that you can bend the helmet with only your hands and I'm not a guy who practices in life, so a small question if I can bend the whole helmet with only my hands, what will happen in an accident flying at 130 kms or higher? And get smashed in the head? for me and im riding almost 10 years. Arai or shoei that's it.
These helmets have been on the market for several years now and crash tested many times. Each time I have seen a crashed one it did it's job and protected the rider. All of our riding is done at the race track. - Van
Great video..!! Although i have a question about sizing when it comes to the rx7…i wear a size S (55-56) on my RPHA 11….although my head measures at about 57.5cm….I’ve heard arai rx7s fit snug so would you recommend going for size M with the arai? Unfortunately I won’t have the opportunity to try out the helmet in stores and will be importing it from overseas
Do you have any experience with Airoh helmets (gp550s)? I find very little user info about these. weird since it's a well know brand in europe. kind off debating between the Airoh or HJC as a track helmet
They are not distributed here in the US so I am not familiar with them. That said the new HJC RPHA 1N is an outstanding track helmet. HJC has come a long way. - Van
i went to a local shop and they talked me down a size from what i was going to get. they have a lot of experience, go talk to your local retailer they know whats up.
I own two AGV's, 6 and 7yo , getting older and im looking at replacement options. Safety wise. Looking at arai and the bell racestar flex, which would you choose? The rotational force protection seems like it would be the better option, but you can't argue with arai's history.
IMO they are both excellent options and it would be hard to go wrong with either of them. If you see one in either brand you really like that is the way to go. Like I said they are both excellent. - Van
i have the shark race R pro carbon and i love it, looks sick and feels amazing for my fit, but have you tried the X-lite X-803 rs ultra carbon? looks insane aswell.:)
Chin bar length seems to be an issue for me. I have a AGV Pista now and if I pucker my lips, I touch the chin bar. The Drinking system would basically be a pacifier if I tried to use it. I had a Shoei X11 back in the day that fit great. Which of these models have longer chin bars?
The Arai Corsair-X, Shoei X-14 and Shark Race R Pro have the biggest gap for me in the chin bar area. The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air and HJC RPHA 11 Pro are similar to one another and had more than enough space for me. The Bell and the AGV's had my face closest to the chin bar. Hope this helps. - Van
The AGV pista gpr is an amazing helmet great air flow and the visor system feels the best of any helmet I have ever owned. Always need to ride with ear plugs
I like both but would say the Shoei has the best overall quality on the market. Max and I both wear the X-14. IMO LS2 is not even close to these two. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thanks for the response! I might be going with the race star because of that pro tint visor. I’ve owned a few Shoei and they fit great but I’m really liking the race star. Anything you might add to pull me towards the x-14?
Does AGV offer the red tinted visor that comes with the speciale GP RR as a stand alone product? Or is there any aftermarket visor that comes in that red iridium tint for the pista gp rr?
This is only done with the Pista GP helmets, all the other models have switched vents. They did this with the Pista because it was developed to be a race helmet with maximum ventilation. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thank you for taking the time to respond. Really appreciate your no none sense and straight forward common sense video production. Will be ordering from you soon my friend.
Some good info here, I’m in market for new helmet. I have Corsair V (pre R75) shape. I have a 61cm head (large head) . Tried newer shape Corsair R75 and I really struggle to get it in inside the helmet. Noticeably different fit and I’m worried it might bit be the right helmet for me now. Found the shoei xfourteen a bit easier on off and little more comfortable however not much room at mouth area. Any recommendations ?
If you have had the opportunity to try more than one helmet the best option will always be the one that offers the best fit. Some of the helmets I have are a little close in the mouth area. I know the X14 has a relief for your nose as they expect it to be tight there. IMO if it is not touching you are good to go. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thanks Van for response - spent and hour in the shop with the Arai on my head - made the call to go with it and haven’t looked back. It’s a bit of knack to get it on but once it’s on it’s snug and comfortable. Great videos keep em up 👍🏻
Hi sir i have few questions i hope its not annoying for you to answer... 1. Is the shoei x14 good for upright riding naked bike say monster 1200s? Can it also handle longer trips? 2 for a naked bike iser and occasional touring can the defiant x compete with the x14? Ty
Need someone’s expert opinion: I use to daily ride Arai’s Corsair-X comfortably in a small BUT after the break-in decided to step down to x-small for that really snug feel. Idk, maybe it’s their round shell that after awhile is just a bit too wide for me, can’t say. But I’ll admit that if I can get away with it I do prefer a sort of fitted feel on the road. Track days I switch between Schuberth’s SR2 or an AGV Pista GP RR both i wear in a size small. Of course, the SR2 has a SUPER TIGHT fit when coming on and off the dome which can be sort of a pain but it works because after break-in those really thick pads it came with do adjust and at speed that thing is ridiculously light and aerodynamic. I mean, you barely feel the helmet when in the tuck and there’s pretty much no neck strain. Well, in that regard they both are incredible helmets to ride in. Now, I’m looking at purchasing the Bell Race Star Flex DLX 2020 model mainly for the streets. Heard great things about it, and the reviews have peaked my attention. Now equipped with speaker pockets is certainly a plus especially when riding with the crew. But I’m stuck on sizing since I’ve seen some say that it runs big and others,... well,.. it’s confusing. I’ve never had a Bell helmet before, this will be my first. And since all the brick and mortars are essentially closed I can’t just go and try one on per ushe. So, honestly what do you think? Do Bell Race Star’s run big where going X-Small like my Arai would make sense or is a size Small the way to go? Also, might I add that I’m aware how Bell’s shells differ between the two sizes I’m pondering and as an average guy who’s athletic fit 5’10 170lbs soaking wet in boots that dreaded “mushroom effect” has never been my friend. Realizing any views expressed here are only opinions and not gospel still I gladly welcome all input. And, in advance, given our dilemma these days all the advice I can get here will be more than greatly valued.
I feel the Bell Race Star runs a little smaller than the Corsair-X does. Not enough for me to change from a medium to a small in the Corsair-X, just a bit tighter. To get the same fit from the Corsair-X I need to add thicker interior pads. For the Bell I would say go wit the same size you are wearing in the Pista. You should get a very similar fit. - Van
Brian sorry for the late comment but i really need help I’m going to purchase the pista futuro but I’m right on the edge I have a size 59.69 cm head circumference And I don’t know weather to go large or medium large Your help would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼
IMO they would both be excellent on a cruiser. The aerodynamic performance of the X-14 is a bit better than the RF-1200 so it would preform a little better while on the bike. That said the RF-1200 is also an excellent helmet. For the RF-1400 I expect to see that in the fall of this year, could be delayed with the whole Coronapocolypse. - Van
X14 works great with cruisers. I use mine from my sportbikes, ADVs and Harleys (built streetglide and built Dyna Lowrider S). The aerodynamics work great on everything.
So I have 2 HJC rpha 11 helmets. Is there anything on this table that would justify moving to it from the HJC? I do track days and Live on 421 the snake. So Trees and tracks lol.
Safety and comfort IMO. I have 2 RPHA 11's too fwiw. Look up SHARP test ratings on the RPHA 11. People will say it's not apples to apples since helmets in the US are built differently to conform to DOT standards. That said, take out all the pads/liner in an RPHA 11. A ton of flex, shell looks super thin, and SHARP ratings are poor. Do the same thing with a Corsair X or X-14, it's easy to see the difference and the SHARP scores reflect that.
Not unless the helmets you have need to be replaced. The Sharp rating system is hard to rely on for US riders as the helmets are most often different from the ECE only versions of the same model. When it comes to shell flex there are crashes where that can be advantageous as the shell will help manage the impact better. Typically helmets built to the ECE standard have shells that flex more as compared to models with a Snell cert. The AGV Corsa, HJC RPHA 11 Pro, Shark Race R Pro all flex easier than Arai or Shoei do. End of the day it is important to remember the shell is only part of the equation when it comes to impact management. Hope this helps clarify. - Van
Take a look at the Shoei RF-1200 (dropping a sale tomorrow), the Scorpion EXO-R1 Air, The Bell Star MIPS DLX and the HJC RPHA 11 Pro. All are solid options. - Van
Yes I would say the Flex liner system is better than the traditional EPS with the MIPS slip plane. If you can swing the difference in price the Race Star is a better helmet for sure. - Van

I do know what helmet to upgrade to, I want the most protective and quiet helmet that will fit for sport riding on the street
Take a look at the Shark Race R Pro. That is the most quiet, well venting helmet on the market. - Van
Great video as always. Thank you
You are welcome and thank you for watching! - Van
Hey man I'm curious, what are you guys racing in? If you don't answer I'm going to assume Arai. To others I've had the Corsair 5 and X, and if you want a helmet that's great for street and track, that's it.
Max and I are both wearing the Shoei X-14 helmet now. End of the day we both got a better fit from the Shoei as compared to the Arai. - Van
Looking for a corsair x. U think theyre worth the cash van? Compared to other helmets. I really like that they're FIM Certified and that they're comfortable. Added plus is the looks. Looks great.
Yes I think the Arai helmets are worth the price tag. One of the very best in the world. - Van
hey Brian! let me start of by saying, another awesome review!
We do not do much with Schuberth so we did not include them in this. - Van
Shoes X-Fourteen 🔥
One of the best helmets in the world for sure. - Van
Still gonna stay with the xlite 803 carbon 🤟🏻
Suony SR-GP.
Lighter than any of those.
Good enough for Dovizoso and Hickman.
Good for me.
I do not believe Suomy is distributed here in the US at this time. - Van

They had a thing planned for Daytona Bike weekend but don't know if that happened or not since didn't look into it.
Something planned for the American Moto GP race as well.
Maybe they are building it up and on their way.
Anyway.
Ewen someone as big as STG can't have all the brands in the world in their line up so it's not a competition or an issue.
Love the reviews and content
Much appreciated.
Keep up the good work.
I really have to buy something off you guys even thou I'm on the other side of the globe.
Because...
When ever I consider buying some bike gear and I look up reviews for it... 95% off the time it's " Hi I'm Brian Van from Sportsbike Track gear..."
And the reviews are detailed and honest.
- Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thanks.
I will tell everyone who reads this comment and give my opinion that I am not Japanese.
I worked in the store and saw thousands of AGV helmets specifically all "TOP OF THE LINE"
Helmets, Pista, Corsa, etc., etc.
I find RPHA 11 to run just a touch to the generous side. For the Arai at 57.5 I would suggest the medium. - Van
- Van
LS2 Thunder Carbon has FIM certification. Doesn't get much better than that.
Every helmet on this table is better than an LS2. We sold them for a short period and stopped. Better options out there. - Van
i went to a local shop and they talked me down a size from what i was going to get. they have a lot of experience, go talk to your local retailer they know whats up.
Most people buy a helmet that is one size too large. - Van
I have not had the chance to ride in the X-Lite yet. Hoping to get that done this spring. - Van
Race r pro carbon is the way to go ...👍🏍
I have goten the x-lite X-803 rs ultra carbon now😂. Love it, but yes ther was NO reson to switch just love the looks of the RS🔥
i love my shoei xspirit3/xfourteen its an amazing helmet
One of the best in the world for sure. - Van
Since the Pista and Corsa are up there, why not include the Arai Corsair rc along with the regular Corsair X?
Because $4000 for a helmet is way over the top IMO. - Van
- Van
Just save up and buy the most expensive badass helmet on that table - you’ll be the boss at the next bike meetup guaranteed.
I would say buy the one that makes the most sense for you. - Van
The AGV pista gpr is an amazing helmet great air flow and the visor system feels the best of any helmet I have ever owned.
Always need to ride with ear plugs
It is for sure an excellent helmet. - Van
I’m looking at the Bell Race Star and Shoei X 14. Which one would be a better buy?
Also, any reviews of the LS2 carbon helmet?
Thanks!
I'm in love with that yellow helmet on the right with the gold visor could U please tell me what that one is???❤❤❤
That is an old Icon Airmada that was discontinued a long time ago unfortunately. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear wow thanks so much for the comment! Looks so cool 🥰 amazing how there is really a helmet for everyone ❤️
Does AGV offer the red tinted visor that comes with the speciale GP RR as a stand alone product? Or is there any aftermarket visor that comes in that red iridium tint for the pista gp rr?
Our AGV distributor does not offer that shield. - Van
I am thinking of getting a Bell race star DLX 6 shell sizes you say Van! I have a 57 cm head circumference Sam as you what size do you where?
You would be a size medium in the Star helmets. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear thanks Van!
would love to hear ur opinion on this. Would you still buy a more ish helmet even if only DOT certified?
My preference is to ride in a Snell or ECE certified helmet. - Van
Shark helmets are awesome, frenchies got it right
For sure Shark makes a great helmet. The Race R Pro is one of my favorites. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear I got the race r pro carbon, from you , couldn't be happier, lightweight and super quiet
Any reason you did not talked about modular helmets though they are dot certified?
I am not a modular helmet user so I don't really have a lot to offer on that category. - Van
So front to back ur 12.5 inch an side to side 12 would be that round oval? Or intermediate oval?
I would call that round oval. - Van
Theses seem nice I prefer Ruroc Altlas 2.0 core or a diablo.
I have never seen either of the helmets. - Van
Why do agv helmets have open vents ? Is there any reason why they didnt made their vents closable?
This is only done with the Pista GP helmets, all the other models have switched vents. They did this with the Pista because it was developed to be a race helmet with maximum ventilation. - Van
Thanks so much! Much appreciated!
You are welcome and thank you for watching! - Van
Updated video with current helmets? Would the Alpinestars supertech R10 make the cut?
1000% it would make it. I am going to try and update this for 24. - Van
Aria helmets have such an old style.
They are deeply invested in the round shell shape and I do not see this changing anytime soon. - Van
Is it true that the layers of the EPS on the bell squeak and make noise from friction, while wearing?
It is not uncommon to have a little eps movement in some helmets. I have ridden in helmets like this and never noticed any noise while riding.
Great videos keep em up 👍🏻
does the shark race r visor come with pinlock inserts? and it seems like after market visors got some bad reviews
The helmet ships with a fog free treated shield that works very well. I have not needed a Pinlock insert with my Shark. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear one more question, is the visor easy to change daily basis?
Hi sir i have few questions i hope its not annoying for you to answer... 1. Is the shoei x14 good for upright riding naked bike say monster 1200s? Can it also handle longer trips? 2 for a naked bike iser and occasional touring can the defiant x compete with the x14? Ty
I ride my Monster with the X-14. It's very comfy and no problem to ride it upright. On a sportbike the ventilation works SLIGHTLY better imo.
The mad Viking #793 thank for the info just got the x14 marquez haven’t ridden with it yet due to busy sched.
@@bobbyuykim hope you enjoy it and never have to test it. 😉👍🏻
I used Shark it’s good. But I still like the Shoei better. I got for Shoei
For sure Shoei makes one of the very best helmets in the world. Both Max and I are riding in the Shoei X-14. - Van
Is the bell ok for street and touring?
Bell makes some excellent helmets for the street, track and off road. - Van
Need someone’s expert opinion:
I use to daily ride Arai’s Corsair-X comfortably in a small BUT after the break-in decided to step down to x-small for that really snug feel.
- Van
I search a quite helmet.. Which is the best on 350 euro? The scorpion exo 1400 carbon is quite? Or what???
Will the cardo packtalk slim fit on the Arai Corsair x?
I have not installed that system but would expect it to install into this helmet. - Van
I've got the packtalk bold on mine so I imagine the slim will fit as well.
Brian sorry for the late comment but i really need help
I’m going to purchase the pista futuro but I’m right on the edge
I have a size 59.69 cm head circumference

I would go with the Medium Large based on that measurement. If you go up to the XL odds are it will be too large. - Van

What's a better Shoei for cruisers, the X-14 or their RF1200? I hear the RF1300 is almost out!
If I buy one of these helmets can I custom paint it or can I custom paint it when buying it or am I stuck with the original paint it has?
You can custom paint a helmet if you like. - Van
- Van
that should have been "4" star - no helmets seem to have 5 stars on that site.
What's the best helmet for ~500-600$? For track days and everyday use with a "racy look"? ^^
Take a look at the Shoei RF-1200 (dropping a sale tomorrow), the Scorpion EXO-R1 Air, The Bell Star MIPS DLX and the HJC RPHA 11 Pro. All are solid options. - Van
I recommend the Scorpion R1 Carbon, been using it for a while.
I think the best is the bell 1
The Bell Race Star is an excellent helmet for sure. - Van
Hi, is the Bell Race star eps system better than the street star MIPS system ?
Yes I would say the Flex liner system is better than the traditional EPS with the MIPS slip plane. If you can swing the difference in price the Race Star is a better helmet for sure. - Van
