      I have the Marquez graphic in the Shoei Rf1200. Van's assessment of the glasses fitment in spot on. While not a dealbreaker because all other features are great (I'm switching to contact lenses this season). I had a Bell Star helmet previously that fit my glasses much better.

    First of all great reviews! This is my favorite class of helmets because you can easily own multiple helmets in this class.
    I raced in 2018 with AFM using the RPHA11PRO. Loved every minute of riding with it on the track. Short rides are most excellent. On the road it’s a little different for me. On long rides it does take a toll sometimes on the crown of my heard with some pressure. Overall I still love it though. Very very light and very very aerodynamic.
    I just bought the EXO R1 Air. Omg I love this helmet so much. The most comfy helmet I have ever had, and I have had a lot and some are on this list! Aerodynamics of this helmet is excellent, maybe a little less aerodynamic than the RPHA11 Pro when turning head side to side, but still very acceptable. Love the air fit system. Love the graphics. Love how long I can ride in this helmet with zero pain on my head anywhere. Great job Scorpion!

    Ay, yo. To anyone reading this (you don’t have to take my word for it) I’d go out and interact and try them on yourself. These types of videos are helpful, but really only for info (like price, size, features etc) or someone that is starting off with riding and helmets. If you have any experience with em go out and try yourself. I bought a Shoei today and he says how that the rf-1200 sucks for fitting glasses but that’s not the case for me. Way better than my Bell qualifier dlx, like night and day haha.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 года назад +2

      While I agree with you I will add for most riders it would be almost impossible to try all of these helmets on and compare them as you will be hard pressed to find a shop that stocks all of them. As for the glasses fit we all have different shaped heads and not all glasses are the same shape for sure. - Van

    Can't believe you're still replying to comments. Testament to yourself and the business and your integrity.
    Very tempted by the new Shoei NXR2 (RF 1400 in North America). I was wondering your opinions on the UK 'Sharp' shafety Ratings. They have it as a 4* but rated the likes of an AGV K6 as a 5* on safety. Have you looked into sharp at all and was wondering if you'd recommend the 1400?
    Mark

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  2 года назад

      I have looked into the Sharp a bit but to be fair the Euro helmets are not always the same as the ones sold in the US which makes the results less relevant. In addition to that at some point I came across an article breaking down some issues with the Sharp ratings themselves.
      IMO any of the the top brands will strive to produce a helmet that they feel will perform while riding and protect the rider in the event of a crash. One star in the Sharp rating would not be enough to sway me from purchasing a helmet I felt was going to be the best for myself and my riding style. - Van

    I've owned a Shoe RF-1200 Brigand for a few years and agree this is a solid quality helmet. Fit is great, but I find it is a little noisy at high speed. I also own a few different Arai lids which I find fit a little better and are much more quiet, but what I like most about the Shoei is the option for transition shield, which Arai does not offer. Looking forward to seeing your comparisons at the next higher end price level...Keep up the good work.

    Lol the RF-SR didn't seem like the most glowing description. I've never been quite in love with mine. It's a good helmet but never really excited me either. First helmet so I never had anything to compare against, I suspect my fit was a smidge large but at same time my nose basically touches the front. My experience was innihilalated in a low speed soft low side. Why is there never an icon in the mix.? Genuinely curious. Most modifiable sizing available in small shell tight, med, lose pad set. Pin lock peal aways, lighter than my flip flop and the best helmet bar none with the rear notch at back of nect to continue aerodynamics. And its is always more glorious art than anything shown. Oh and 2 fog free shields, clear pin lock and tinted. What ever I forgot that you said l, icon is top notch in the category . Full credit given to 3 specific life savers. Nice presentation. I like the way you get right to the point, and you obviously know your gear. I considered buying a thermoplastic resin helmet for 250 dollars, but that is injection molded. Now I want a composite helmet. It's only another hundred dollars more. Do you think it's important to get a Snell approved helmet? You used to be able to get a Snell approved helmet for 150 dollars. That was in the 90's. Now Snell rated helmets seem to be quite expensive. Maybe the current Snell tests are much stricter? Maybe DOT and ECE ratings are enough? There are many more ratings than 30 years ago. My current helmet is Snell rated but Snell M95. I don't race, just street ride. Thanks.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Год назад +1

      I think any helmet offering a Snell, ECE or FIM cert offers the safety riders are looking for. While there was a time the injection molded helmets were less desirable than the composite helmets this is no longer the case. The injection molded stuff has come a long way and is full capable of passing the modern standards we have today. - Van

    I have the RPHA 70. This is my first and last HJC, I was far from thrilled that the med was to small. I ended up replacing the med liner with a large. But what really bothered me is.The little snap. That holds the end of the chin strap down. It popped out after a year. I am not Magilla Gorilla. This is my 6th helmet. Something similar happened with my previous Bell Star. Having the end of a chin strap slapping you around at speed. Is very distracting. I am looking at a Shoe and Arai to be my next helmet

    Questions and comments.
    Why did the AGV K6 not make the cut?
    My RF1200 I can fit my glasses just fine.
    Some owners of the RSFR say it is better for more upright riders as opposed to those tucking due to aerodynamics. Same can be said for the HJC 70ST versus the RPHA 11.
    The Arai had no emergency pulls for that price, right? Unacceptable safety oversight.
    One complaint of the RF1200
    Is on the rear vent. You can’t really tell which side of the switch opens or closes the vent.
    For future helmet reviews it would be awesome if you told us about the specific aerodynamics, as some helmets are better suited for track use or tucking.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  2 года назад +1

      The K6 was not really out when we did this. IMO that helmet is ok, better options for similar money.
      We use the same pair of glasses to evaluate the compatibility for all the helmets. Totally possible your experience may differ as we are all shaped differently and so are the glasses.
      IMO any helmet that has good aerodynamics will perform well while sitting up or in the tuck. Any good race helmet needs to be stable when you sit up to start breaking.
      We did a separate video focusing on helmets we felt were best suited for track riders in this series. - Van

      First thanks for the kind words. With the Shoei helmets the X-14 is the most quiet, aerodynamic and well ventilated model. The RF-1200 is a good all around helmet but the X-14 is for sure better. For the Arai Helmets the Corsair-X is the best sport model. It vents a little better than the X-14 but is also noisier than the X-14. When it comes to safety both Shoei and Arai are rock solid choices. - Van

      I would say the EXO-R1 Air and the Bell Star MIPS are the 2 quietest. - Van
