    I got the F20 code and did everything to clear any dirt from the bottom trap to checking the filter screens on the hot water and cold etc BUT not until I saw your video did I get the satisfaction of buying a $20 dollar flow meter that my issues were resolved! Saved myself from buying another washer. This was a great vid!

    I've been dealing with the F20 code for years. I figured out that turning off the water, unscrewing the water hoses from the machine and blowing air into the screens (with one of those computer air blowing things) worked great. After about 2 years, that didn't work so well. I then discovered if I turned off the water, started the machine, and waited for that 3rd click click; I could quickly turn the water back on and get a rush of water into the machine. That worked for a while too. Then it all stopped! In despair, I was was hand washing clothes in the middle of the night =/ And then BAMM! I found this amazing, informative video. All I did was disconnect the flow meter, blow it out (with that computer air blower thing) and put it back on. Water is flowing. Whoo Hoo!!! Thank you so much LonnieJohnson1!!!

    Aloha Mr. Johnson! Thank you for making this great repair video. Followed your instructions and it worked like a charm! Last bill we had for a similar repair cost $220. You saved our family a lot of hard earned money. Thank you again!

    I found the part. It took me a bit, $76 on Amazon.
    I love this washer for all the capabilities, selections... and I will post when it’s changed (it’s the exact part shown in this video).
    I’m kind of excited to not have to babysit my washer for the F20 code!

    someone mentioned blowing out the flow meter. I did that to mine and it didnt seem that there was anything wrong with the part itself. Perhaps its the little circuit board that is the issue?
    Thanks for the tips, ordering the part.

    I'm not sure if you work on small appliances in general? I have a general Electric stove that i was given used. It seems to work great when i just use the stove top. But when i turn the oven on, or the timer i get the f20 error until I unplug the machine. Any suggestions?

    hi there mr Johnson. I’m dealing with a f20 code again (after 4-5 years) on my Kenmore elite front load washer. Replaced the pressure switch a couple years back. I just opened the top of the washer and it seems like my flow meter doesn’t sit like yours. Could that be the issue? I’m guessing it’s been sitting like that for years. I would like to send a picture but I don’t know how on RUclips

      Take it off and shake it to see if it makes any noise. If it does it's probably worn out or bad.

    • @tonynguyen8132
      @tonynguyen8132 5 лет назад

      Yes it made the same noise in the video . Ordered a new one on amazon a black one came home with same noise while shaking.

    If the water hose is shortened would that make it give the F20 code also? I think it is the flow meter but just checking due to cut hose.

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  6 лет назад

      See if your meter rattles when you shake it. I don't think shortening the hose would cause an error.

    I have one of these washers that keeps getting either an F21 or F20 error. I have replaced the flow meter, switch and water inlet inlet valves in the past and it works for about 6 months and we are back at F21 or F20. I found that if I unplug the washer wait a few minutes then plug it back in it will complete the cycle without any issues.. my question is does anyone have a suggestion on a good reliable washer that does not have any computer controls but the old style timer? I'm never going to buy a Kenmore or Maytag washer anymore.

    Lonnie, what was the original problem exactly? Was there water in the unit, or no water in the unit?

  • @ordainedphotographysanpedr4154
    @ordainedphotographysanpedr4154 3 года назад

    Thank you very much for the video. I have the exact same unit and the F20 error code recently came up. I disconnected the hoses and checked the filters on both lines. Definitely had some small rocks and gunk which I used an old toothbrush to brush out. I connected the hoses and restarted the machine but the error code came back. The F20 error code came on within the first 2 minutes of the “normal/casual” cycle. Once I determined that it wasn’t the hoses, I did as you instructed. One thing to mention is that the flow meter I purchased was made by whirlpool but is working just fine. I used channel locks on the clamps and had no problems with that. My new flow meter is black and seems a little smaller in some areas but is working just fine. Also, just as your old flow meter had a rattle to it, my old flow meter had a rattle to it as well.
    Once all put back together I fired up the machine and it’s working like new

    Hello Lonnie, thanks for the most helpful & informative video. May I ask what the part number is for the water inlet flow meter? It appears that I will have to order/install one of these to get our machine back up and running & I just want to be sure I order the right part. Thanks again.

    Thanks for the video! Fixed it and easy job!
    Mine would start to fill and kept shutting down in about 80-90 seconds with the F20 error
    on my HE5t washer. Called a friend who does appliance repair and he had the part on the truck and stopped by and dropped it off after his last job for $35. He said most likely this is the problem too. If it would have been the pressure switch he said it would have the problem later in the timed cycle.
    Cleaned the pump drain strainer too...found a Leggo toy and a baby sock in it!

    I am having an f20 code as well. I ordered a flow meter, which is black. My flow meter was facing vertical when I took my washer top off. I replaced it and positioned it the way I found it. I'm still having a F20 error code. I took the hot and cold water hoses off and checked for debris build up but they were clean. I checked the water pressure and both flow nicely. What else could cause my F20 error cold on my Kenmore Elite front load washer (model# 11047089600)? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  8 лет назад

      Could they have sent you a bad meter. Does it make noise when u shack it? and is your valves to the hot and cold water inlets opening so they can flow? It will be hard to see water flowing through a black meter or is it a see through black? because that's what I would try next.

    • @brownbagavocado6786
      @brownbagavocado6786 8 лет назад +3

      Okay, I figured it out. My flowmeter was good. I had a bad pressure switch. It's on the rear right side of the washer. It's the round part connected to the black hose. I had to take off the black hose, blow into it, and if you can hear air go through, that hose is good. I then had to blow into the pressure switch to hear it click. It didn't click so I blew in and out of it til it started to click. Apparently it was stuck. I put it back together, started my washer and it worked. I didn't have to replace the part. If I did, It would be around $80. I really appreciated your video! It helped me understand so much about my washer! :)

      F20 is related with water valves, water pump, flow matter , dispenser, water lavel witch, and hose and presure tank

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  8 лет назад

      I have found that the F20 is about the water flow; if the flow valve is not working or the inlet is blocked and not letting water come through from the facet you will get this error. That's just what I have found.
