The Black Omen sounds so different At some points it sounds like heavy ambient synth, at others it sounds like ambiend drumstep, and at other points it sounds like Ujico/Snail House future bass
Love this mix so far :). Chrono Trigger is easily my favorite RPG, and the first one I ever played. I thought I had ruined my brother's save when he rented a copy back in the day, and the court scene had me thrown in jail. I thought there would be a way to avoid it. I also just thought I was being "Rick Rolled", when Robo's Theme started XD
Crono's death shocked me because I didn't think it was possible for a game to let their main character die in the middle of the game! I also chose to fight Magus my first run-through and was confused at why people talked about him like he was part of the team (I didn't know you could spare your mortal enemy and he'd join you). I didn't get to save Lucca's mom. I went to the 1999 AD barrel and fought through the boss gauntlet. When I finally beat Lavos, I kind of just sat there in my chair processing what just happened (I fought him I don't know how many times, and when I killed the main guy, the small pods just brought him back!!!) This game was so incredible and different from anything else I ever played, that when it was over, I felt a bit empty and didn't know what to do next (like that feeling you get after you spent weeks reading a book series and you finish that final page). I love everything about this game; the characters, the music, the story, the replayability, and the uniqueness this game has that hasn't been able to be replicated by any other game since. I'm glad you enjoyed this ASC! Check out the other ones! 🕤
@@asc484 I feel you. I was super shocked at that part to! Don't you bring him back later on, swap him with a clone or something. My cousin saved over my file during the castle right before Magus. I was so pissed. Because his characters were crap. So I ended up starting over from the beginning. I'm not sure how many times I've played it. At least 3 right through. Reading your comment makes me want to play through it again haha. I think it's in my Steam Library these days. It's been years, and I've played a ton of JRPGs since. So I don't remember the finer details. I completely agree with everything you said. As far as I remember it was the first game that implemented alternate timeliness and endings. It's forever a classic, in my mind along with a few other games close to my heart. Thanks for the great mix :). I listen to these kinds of mixes on my headset off and on while I work. I'll have to see what else you've got put together :). I've not finished this one yet.
Mitsuda San was 23 to 24 composing 90 percent of these tracks. With a little help from Uematsu San. That's uncredibly impressive to this day. Sam Dillard is talented but that is GENIUS.
Glad you liked it! Enjoy the other ASC's, and keep hoping for that Switch remaster with more animated cutscenes and "Temporal Vortex" style side quests! 🕤
I'm not sure what to make of the Corridors of Time remix. On the one hand, it sounds absolutely lovely. On the other hand, it sounds nothing like Corridors of Time.
It's probably because Corridors of Time has a very prominent sitar sound with choral vocals, which this cover doesn't do. Instead, it uses strings and brass (more so than the soloist vocal) to give the melody an air of mystery and grandiose fantasy that section of the game has. This arrangement is more of a cover of the tone in the game at that point than an orchestrated reconstruction of the song.
ASC I think it’s also because this cover has a much slower tempo than the original. It’s not bad at all, it’s just that I’ve heard beautiful orchestral remixes of this song that also actually sound like the song they’re remaking, so I’d have to classify them as better. Malcolm Robinson Music’s cover, for example, manages to sound epic and orchestral while also maintaining the faster tempo of the original and actually including a sitar.
@@ninakrishnamurthy6674 Maybe, but unfortunately Robinson wouldn't make this cover until four months after this video came out. A challenge with these videos is working with the covers available at the time; and I still check for other arrangements every now and then (like "The Noble Demon", "RetroRemix", or "dante/SoundCirclet"). Even now, there are videos I can't finish or even begin (like the case with Bayonetta and Skullgirls) because there are many covers haven't been made yet. There's also the matter of personal preference. I would say that in 2016, SamoStudios made my favorite version of Corridors of Time that I had heard.
ASC And that’s completely fair. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion. You like SamoStudios remix because it sounds the best, and taken on its own merits I agree with you. It’s just that my personal preference when it comes to video game remixes is that I look for what the original composers probably would have wanted the songs to sound like if they had access to a real orchestra. As such, I tend to look for remixes that are orchestrated with actual instruments but otherwise have the exact same rhythm, melody, tempo, and energy of the original. That’s why my personal preference for COT remix is Robinson. But like you said, this isn’t a list of the definitive Chrono Trigger remixes out there, but rather your personal favorites. And you certainly have picked a lovely arrangement.
YEAH! Would you like a full 3D render of the game, or something more 2.5D like Octopath Traveler? I really like the pixel art, so I'd prefer the OT treatment! 🕞
This arrangement is amazing, but you know what's even better? That clock for the thumbnail. I have spent a godly amount of time looking for it. Any ideas where it's from?
😆 I no longer remember how I found it. I was looking for record players or vinyl discs with a clock theme. I can't find it now on Google images, but it's still in my folder. I'm happy to hear the thumbnail left such an impact!

I've not finished this one yet.
thank you for making this

Have fun listening to the other ones ! 🎮🎧
Mitsuda San was 23 to 24 composing 90 percent of these tracks. With a little help from Uematsu San.
That's uncredibly impressive to this day.
Sam Dillard is talented but that is GENIUS.
And to think he almost died composing the soundtrack to Trigger.
Awesome ! Thank you for uploading this

This was awesome
Thanks! Enjoy the other ASC's! 🕤
Perdón, no entiendo. ¿Te refieres a un mod de videojuego?
BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH! 🕤
This is fantastic 👍🏼

WE NEED A REMAKE OF THIS GAMEEEE IN 3D OR SOMETHING
Or like Octopath Traveler, that's 2.5D with sprites! 👾
If any game deserves a REMAKE like Final Fantasy VII (still waiting for the next installment...) it IS Chrono Trigger.
YEAH! Would you like a full 3D render of the game, or something more 2.5D like Octopath Traveler? I really like the pixel art, so I'd prefer the OT treatment! 🕞
@@asc484 I thingk the full 3D experience like VII remake would be fantastic
This arrangement is amazing, but you know what's even better? That clock for the thumbnail. I have spent a godly amount of time looking for it. Any ideas where it's from?
😆 I no longer remember how I found it. I was looking for record players or vinyl discs with a clock theme. I can't find it now on Google images, but it's still in my folder. I'm happy to hear the thumbnail left such an impact!
That World Revolution remix is sick!! Where can I find the original video??
Glad you like it! It's from LEAF XCEED. The link should be in the video description.
I really want a clock like the one in the Thumbnail!!
Glad you like the thumbnail! The characters are an image from Deviantart user abysswolf (link in video description). The clock itself is an image I haven't been able to find since I made the thumbnail back in 2016. If you're willing to spend hours looking for it, the image name is acrylic-record-player-clock-1911984482773111
Have fun and enjoy the other ASC's! 🕤
Where is this Ayla's Theme remix from?
It was made by Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu for the animated cutscene. Someone managed to either isolate it or recreate it themselves.
amazing...

Would you mind listen to "Wind Scene" that I made? → ruclips.net/video/gjveuRqnYSQ/видео.html @KentaKubo

Who made the battle theme cover? 1:18:12 - 1:21:38. I can't find it anywhere, but it's soo good...
Glad you like it! It's Phoenix Project. I haven't checked if the video is still up, but you can go to the credits on 3:19:12 to see who did what cover. I also have the links to the channels in the video description.

This is very hit and miss. The tyrano lair is the biggest fail, with the escape theme closely behind. Speccio's theme is mint
Someone NEEDS to made an Hack ROM with this soundtrack ASAP!! ♥️
Glad you like it so much! 🕤
Check out the other ASC's, like Super Mario Kart and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Seems people want those covers in their rom hacks too!
we seriously need a remake for this game.
Yes, please! For the Switch, with bonus side quests and an extra ending! 🕤
Looking at the way Square has treated this game in ports... It’s sad to say but I don’t think they’d do a very good job at a remake.
Now, a fan-lead remake on the other hand...
@@LavosTheOneEyedTick Welcome back, Lavos! 🕤
@@asc484 Thanks! This video is still as absolutely awesome as I remember
Chrono trigger is timeless already. Playing the remake would be just as good playing the Og unless they overhaul it to 3d which is something I dont think they would do effectively if at all.
Thanks
