@@ShreddingDragon Nothing like just beating a horde of demons by the skin of your teeth, realizing you forgot a key or switch somewhere, and just backtracking through the swathes of corpses you left behind.. You just don't get that feeling in any other game BUT doom.. That feeling of being reminded just how badly you wrecked this place.. That feeling of pride, comfort, and safety. All your hard work, so neatly displayed all before you to walk past as you tour the level for some extra pickups or a key. That's partly what made doom such a comforting experience.. The backtracking was never frustrating, because of the display of corpses you'd left behind, so you never felt 'forced' to get familiar with the terrain.. It was a fully organic side-effect of the process. Same with darksouls.. You never felt 'forced' to backtrack, and whenever you did, it was never unpleasant to do, and gave you time to really 'settle in' to the environment.

This cover is perfect, the melody, the switching of moods, and most of all the mix of instruments. It gives you the feeling of flashbacks, anger, sadness and an accurate presentation on how much torment DOOMGUY had to go through. This cover you made it well and perfect. Good Job 👍
Dude, I felt this much emotion in very few songs. I especially love the mood shift when the distortion kicks in, it's like going from sadness/melancholy to despair. The way the guitar cries, I get chills...
After listening this song for the umpteenth time, I started to hear a voice talking to me. I mean, literally, not figuratively, but a voice speaking in an exotic foreign language throughout the song, as if the bass could speak. Interesting experience, I must admit. Masterpiece.

This is really really good, the way it ebbs and flows, so much light and shade, and the Latin chants were fantastic also...brilliant re-imagining, really well done my friend :)
This definitely captures the dark, melancholic tone of the original Sign of Evil, which is just fitting for House of Pain, as at that point you're deep in the bowels of Hell, a realm of hopelessness and despair.
Thank you so much. That melancholic loneliness is a strong element in Doom’s music and level design. The maps feel not so much like places you could travel between, but like dreams you could have… or nightmares, I should say.
DUDE! This thing is sick! I've probably contributed about 20+ of these views by myself! You did an amazing job, and you nailed the feeling that Sign of Evil gives me: and ominous track that symbolizes the journey ahead.
Thank you so much for those kind words and support! You know, Sign of Evil really has that vibe - it's like that serene moment when you finally realize and accept how far deep in Hell you really are, and how long the journey home still is. That's powerful.
1:03 I imagine this would slowly build up in the background when doomguy steps through a portal. only to wind up in a feild finding daisys head on a pike with her body on the ground next to it.
God this is perfect, just the sadness, quiet, dark loneliness that swings into bitter hate, contempt, rage and screaming into the void as you feel embrace you and ultimately accept your fate. Everything here is beautifully done and the Latin Choir is wonder touch! My only gripe is this isn't more popular and viewed. It's a wonderful experience and just captures a side of the original piece I never thought of.

I'm gonna try my best to post this on my FB and all for ya man, this needs A LOT of love!
Wow, thank you so much! I truly appreciate it. And you're right, most people likely look for E1M8 Phobos Anomaly first. However the reason why I personally chose E3M4 instead was that the name "House of Pain", and the level's visuals, always made me feel strongly about this music track. For me, they all belong together in that certain melancholic style which I love. Not to say that "Phobos Anomaly" wouldn't make an awesome prog metal track name!
@@ShreddingDragon Hey brother, I just wanted to let you know that I also added a tiny segment of your cover in my Doom Eternal Part 22 video as an outro. I obviously credited you in my desc because this SoE is one of the best that exists. Thank you again for making this masterpiece

This is so beautiful. Hellishly beautiful. First time playing the classic doom. Haven't played the 2016 version yet so I'm just taking time playing the OGs before the modern releases. If you choose to play the modern ones afterwards, you're gonna find so many cool references to the old games there. I'm actually really curious: How are you liking Doom, as someone who is playing it for the first time in 2024? How does the game feel for you, has it surprised you in one way or another? What's best about it?
@@ShreddingDragon Oh, I'm loving every second of the levels. It feels like I'm experiencing an immersive documentary of how video games have come so far. Like, in my current gaming sessions, I have Red Dead Redemption 2 and the classic Doom. So going back and forth between these two games makes you appreciate the craft that has been put into them despite the different generation. The surprising thing about Doom is the community behind it. Guys like you and the gaming youtubers (shoutout to @Decino) who are still releasing mods, wads, doing playthroughs and making music covers keeps the game alive. Just this recently, id software re-released the game with a super-bundle running on new engine and I'm stoked to try out the new 16 levels. You know what they say...Doom is Eternal! 🔥🤘
@@abidchy4479 That’s tight man! And thanks for the tip, I’m gonna check out that id Software re-release. It’s just fun to try out different sourceports and versions. If you end up wanting more og Doom and appreciate horror games, I highly recommend playing the PSX version of Doom. Same game, but it has a completely different soundtrack (dark ambient by Aubrey Hodges), colored lighting, and everything is just creepier!
@@ShreddingDragon Yo! Damn! The PSX version is really dark and gritty. It's crazy how Aubrey Hodges' score and lighting gives it an ultra-nightmare dead space type of experience. Playstation folks were smoking something back then.... Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dinocrisis and this? Holy shit!
This is beyond BEAUTIFUL! I've always loved the somber ones in the original Doom & Doom 2 soundtracks, e3m4 (Sign of Evil), d_victor (The End of DOOM), and d_read_me, and I've been listening to them since I first played Doom in 1994. They are masterpieces in their own right. But this remake is on another level!
Not that I’m trying to mess with the master of your craft or anything, but is there any way you could create a 30-60 minute extended version? This cover has immediately become my go-to track for when I’m studying and an extended version would work wonders for me when I need to tune out the world
I will never forget the first time I got to Phobos anomaly. I didn’t think anything of the music at first, as it is just some drums and a little chanting. Then once I killed the pinky’s and got into that hallway with the torches right before the elevator, it hit. I had to stop, and I cried. I remember being able to feel the sadness and rage that doom guy must’ve felt by this point. Great experience. This mix is one of the best I’ve heard. Most give the track a more upbeat vibe, but shredd, if anything, made it deeper, sadder, and more moving. This man deserves more subs
Love this it’s really beautiful. The choir especially at the end gives me the vibes of the victims of hell crying out in pain and sorrow. Also dig the inclusion of suspense at the end that was really subtle but those two songs really work well together.

The way the guitar is played... you can feel it in the bones!
I love this. That's all I can really say. My love for it is hard to put into words.
i could really feel the sign of evil at this part 5:13
this alongside the Andrew Hulshult version remains as one of the greatest video game music covers ever.
The perfect synchronicity
481 views for a remix that is done VERY well. Course titling E4M4, most people don't even search that up since most people remember it as E1M8. But hey, its still really nice, I love how you conducted this remix. Yes, remix, not cover since this is more than a cover, its a makeover from the original and I love it to bits!
I forgot to mention, a late mention, that your work is also in rotation in DOOM Radio - Beats to rip/tear to. So now, people who tune in there will have a chance to hear your song randomly and flock over to your channel! :D
This is so beautiful. Hellishly beautiful. First time playing the classic doom. Haven't played the 2016 version yet so I'm just taking time playing the OGs before the modern releases. And I came across this OST in this level and loved it. And now your cover version blew me away to hell on earth. Thank you for this. 🔥🌹💎
Thank you so much! Beautifully said. Thank you. ❤🤘 I truly hope you're enjoying your playthrough of Doom, and high respect for playing the originals first!
Best cover on RUclips
Suena increíblemente bien.
Me encanta la atmósfera de soledad y poder que transmite.
Esto es insuperable
Muchas gracias! ❤
The ending made the hairs on my arms stand up! This cover is absolutely perfect!
Thank you so much! 🤘🖤
No no thank YOU! You’ve made an immortal cover!
Not that I’m trying to mess with the master of your craft or anything, but is there any way you could create a 30-60 minute extended version? This cover has immediately become my go-to track for when I’m studying and an extended version would work wonders for me when I need to tune out the world
@@BlackFox0911 Give me a few days. I'll make an extended version.
Nunca había escuchado nada igual, tantos remixes pero ninguno tan epico triste y emocional como esté!!!
This is so unbelievably good I can't even put it in words. Thank you for making this gem of a song!
Thank YOU for listening and supporting! 🤘
insane.
Insane quality
Hauntingly beautiful, I have no words worthy enough. Thank you for this cover and I wish you the best!
This is so sick. HUGE Opeth vibes haha. We do video game covers too, so I'm on pretty good authority to say this is NASTY.
Keep it up, my friend.
I'm more than just impressed, great work
Love this it’s really beautiful. The choir especially at the end gives me the vibes of the victims of hell crying out in pain and sorrow. Also dig the inclusion of suspense at the end that was really subtle but those two songs really work well together.
i was 12 when I first heard this, almot 40 years later the remixes still haunt me
Doom was not made in 1983...
@@jasonturek6671 didnt say it was.
@@blinkth3dog you said "almost 40 years later" after hearing this for this first time
@@jasonturek6671 you realize a 3 and 4 are next to each other. gosh you never made a typo?
@@blinkth3dog edit your comment then
found this 2 years ago, still part of the main rotation, great song great work
So far this is the best cover I've heard for this song.
/bows deeply
it really did live in my head rent free lol im back to it after 4 years
in the playlist it goes
Absolutely phenomenal, great work!
Thank you so much!
always loved the tone of despair to this track, went hand in hand with the theme of Doom itself. Great cover.
Thats really amazing, wow... Just WOW!
i dont know if you're still on yt anymore, but god damn, this is easily one of, if not my favorite doom remix/cover ever
bro this is amazing! Great work
why does this only have 750 views?
this is sick dude
that part at 7:03 is awesome
by the way how long did this take you to make?
edit: holy shit i just came back to this for no reason in particular, and 100K VIEWS??
100% deserved
Thank you so much!! This took 4-5 evenings to make. Near the end I decided to re-record leads and acoustic guitars, re-amp the rhythm guitars and make the Doom 2016 choir part. So that took extra time but I was happy with the result.
There's no one else, in my House of Pain.
Beautiful! 🖤
@ShreddingDragon thank you for inspiring me. 🖤🤘
One of the best covers for all time, btw i love the transition between the guitars
Back again a year later to let you know this is still in the daily rotation. Truly amazing.
Actually amazing. The sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small channel and the actual cover is sick! One of my favorite osts
just want to let you know that i come back here every once in a while, and yup, this is one of my favorite game osts of all time and this has to be the best rendition of this track. props!
Yooo this remix slaps , never heard something like this before
He chose the path of perpetual torment.
May the blood on his sword never dry, and we never need him again.
Wait a minute, near the end I heard a bit of III. Dakhma in the background. Nice dude
So powerful and moving. Such a beautiful song to cover. This is one of my favorite doom songs. Thanks for doing this song.
