Even though I had played doom 1 back when I was 6, it never formed as big of a part of my childhood as games like NFS and GTA did. RLCraft is what actually got me into doom, and now I'm a big metal head 😂 the funny thing is that doom turned out to be the common link connecting two of my favourite childhood games: NFS shift and GTA San Andreas. Precisely, one of the songs "Them Bones" on Radio X in GTA San Andreas is what inspired the map 21 music in doom 2. And also, the creator of the music of NFS shift is also the one who created music for Doom 2016 and eternal

When I played Doom and this track was in the mix it really felt like Hell, and just giving up, feeling weak, doomed, darkness, cold and gray and scary sweating your last beads of sweat before you bite the big one with a Demon or something taking you out. Hell yeah this song sums up Doom in a heartbeat. Fuck Yeah! Best Doom Track ever! A+++

I am listening this song at 4:30 AM in the night with my headphones on. I literally have cold chills running down my spine. The atmosphere, the desolation... THE EVERYTHING of this song is unique through the entire series.

Sweet! this is one of the best covers of this song I've heard. My main issue with some covers is that more often than not mixing in more actual metal sort of detracts from the creepy and menacing atmosphere of the original tune, but not this one. it sounds badass enough but still has an eeriness to it like the original did.

I've heard a shit-ton of Sign of Evil remakes, many of them awesome renditions; but this one right here is without a doubt the best one. You captured the essence of the track very well, your own arrangements fit very well into the tone of the melody as a whole, you respected the doom-metal pace of the track (even with the faster part in the second round), and the atmosphere is profound and authentic.
Both as a musician and producer, and as a long time fan of Doom and it's music (this track specially), I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this incredible piece of art. For materializing a 15 year dream, now came true. You revived a piece of my soul. Thank you.

The song is completely ATMOSPHERIC. It transports us to the desolate reality of DOOM. It is almost capable of making us feel what the doomguy himself feels after the experience of facing HELL. There are strong feeling of despair, fear and loneliness in this song.
Andrew's version is nothing like this version. Both songs have their own original styles. Andrew's version has a feeling of responsibility over a lost world. This version has a feeling of extreme loneliness and hopelessness. They are both fucking incredible on their own.

@ imo this one hits me like hell, it's like there really is no stop to this cycle of Doom. Andrew's is badass too, but I prefer this one over his.
No matter how many times you play Doom, when you reach E1M8 and hear the music, you feel like you've already reached the far end of hell and fought every inch of the way.
I really wish they had used the full version as the boss fight theme for Asmodeus. It's so dark and grim, much like the End where you fight the Ender Dragon and Asmodeus in RLCraft.

I will really say this song sounds REALLY good at both normal tempo and sped up, and it changes the mood COMPLETELY when sped up because of the way the percussion changes alone. It's like MANY different renditions of this song for that reason. The slow version is melancholy and depressing, but sped up it gets exciting and fast-paced. Nice work, this is amazing.

Meanwhile, in 2023… DOOM has made a full comeback…
And boy, has it been glorious. I never grew up with these games (born in 2000), but the reboot in 2016 followed by Eternal got me into the series and I’ve played them all now. God Bless Id Software.

I can't really remember. The guitars went through Guitar Rig, not sure what version. What sounds like synths in the intro are actually guitars as well. A few layers of guitar with a great deal of reverb and such along with some more experimental sounds in the back.

This has got to be the sickest remake of E1M8 out there.
The first half, with that slow rhythm, induces a feeling of hopelessness, doom, gloom, defeatism.
But then, from 3:00 on, Doom Slayer clenches his fists, his teeth, raises his shotgun and decides he will fight on. It induces a feeling of hope mixed with the anger and rage of not giving up, no matter the odds.
And DAT BASS LINE at 3:00 is SICK AS FUCK! 🤘

I think most of you missed the point that besides Doom being a game with a bad ass soundtrack, none of the songs ever really approach "Doom Metal" Territory (Doom Metal is a genre of extreme metal that is very slow and covers depressing themes and seeks to be as melancholic as possible, characterized by its very long going slow strumming riffs) he's simply pointing out that this song actually would fit the genre of doom metal itself in contrast to the more fast paced styles of music we see in Doom and many other Doom Covers
