@@obiwaankenobi4460 Remember its a product of the times. back in the early mid 2000's people were looking for something different, Classic Doom at the time is consider a classic but not yet nostalgic enough to have an entire remake of the game to have the same game play, Doom 3 brought something new with its graphic's and scary atmosphere pushing the limits of the PCs during that time.
People give doom 3 too much shit for being different than classic doom. to be honest, I fucking love doom 3's atmosphere, those dark and dingy uac levels are great, and the few hell levels are actually unnerving as fuck and unlike classic doom, this shit is unsettling. I love how doom 3 doesn't make you a badass demon killing machine, but a normal guy who's only power is his shotgun. Truly a classic.

man, i remember when i was 13 or some shit i used to open up this game and just listen to the menu music for ages. great soundtrack, great game and i loved the flashlight mechanic in the game. the dynamic lighting was off the scale for the time, even holds up today.
Damn right. I would still have alot of my old Xbox game but as with alot of things time happens, ya lose stuff, things get worn out, people steal things from you, the usual. Thankfully my friend was cool enough to let me borrow his BFG Edition for the 360 and it was like picking up where I left off with the addition of RoE and Lost Mission.
Whenever people says about Doom 3, you can't deny that this track hits at the same level as At Doom's Gate, BFG Division and The Only Thing They Fear Is You.
It's crazy how many parts of this song ended up in DOOM 2016 tracks. The main bit was reused for the main part of Flesh and Metal, meanwhile other parts were reused in Harbinger and Skullhacker. You know it's a timeless banger when it ends up in two of 2016's best tracks, one of those tracks being the single hardest in the game.
@@jasonfrancese8359 dang I'm getting memories of when me and my brother played atv off road racing on the ps2 we would mess around and drive out of bounds so we'd go flying lol
This sounds so grunge era....for many reasons but mostly the drums. Like something out of a highschool garage band; What a perfect era of music to experience adolescence in. @@Kola25_97 I Actually came to this video to say it reminds me of tool, filter and ministry, but then find out I already said this shit half a decade ago lmao. Still love the energy and rawness of the drums.
Yeah, that's one thing that the other DOOM games have over DOOM 3. I remember being disappointed playing DOOM 3 because of the lack of in-game music. I just played a bunch of Disturbed, Rammstein, etc while playing.
Lol you are completely right. I just realised that this song sound exactly like Tool and I came into the comments section to see that I am not the only one who got that idea, amazing :D
I find it funny how I wasn’t born during the Doom Cycle and I have enough brain cells to realize just because a game in the series changed gameplay and wasn’t the same as previous ones doesn’t make it a bad game
While I don't think it's as good as its legendary predecessors, this game is still quite fun to play and definitely has some spooky atmosphere. The combat, though slower, is still done well enough to make traversing the samey-looking levels worthwhile, in addition to all of the neat audio logs and info videos, which are great pieces of detail that make the Mars Base feel real. The graphics are spectacular for their time, and the enemy redesigns are pretty cool to look at. Overall, a solid entry in the Doom franchise.
True, but it's one of those things, "sequels are never as good" you know?, although Doom 2 was actually better than the original. I thought Doom 3 was incredible at the time, yes it was a bit slow, but in a good way, I loved how you could feel the bullets hitting the enemies. Though I still would like if they made the newer games have the old style of doom, you know?, the old corridors and big outdoor areas, sure they have that but artistically it's all a bit too mechanical looking in design now. Still, I think, from what I have played, Doom 4 is pretty great, I didn't think I'd like the fast paced style, but when you think about it, the originals were pretty much going for that. All Doom games are pretty spot on imo.
+Tom Cooper Doom 3 tried to be a scary spooky horror game, which was a bit weird seeing as that was never really the point of Doom. It was somewhat saved by the fact D3 became one of the "big three" during the next-gen wars of 2004, so it was going to be hyped and successful regardless. I think the new Doom (Doom 4? "NewDoom"?) understood what Doom really was originally about, and just went back to being about murdering lots and lots and lots and *lots and lots and* _lots_ of demons. And finding key cards....
Mythricia I agree but I think whilst doom 3 was different, it was the right time for a game like that and it was still very a good scary game. I guess even the originals were pretty scary in parts, especially when you're a little kid. I am enjoying Doom (4) though, I like the whole keycard thing too. it does feel like the originals but I kinda wish they'd have made the maps look more like the old games, they still look very Doom 3, mind you, i'm sure that would have been quite hard to do considering the graphics/artwork etc. I haven't played much of Doom (4) yet so I don't know what all the levels look like yet. what was the other big 3? I presume Half-Life 2, but can't think of the other.
Tom Cooper Half-Life 2 and Far Cry - ironically Far Cry came out first despite being sort of an unknown game for a while... I guess Medal of Honor also took part in that generation race towards the end. Heh, was a fun time to be an enthusiast! Anyway, yeah I guess it's one of those things where it can't please everybody - D3 split the community a bit I think, what Doom was supposed to be like. I think it's important to keep developing new ideas though, and NewDoom is different from the old ones - because, it's new! 15 years from now, someone will talk about NewDoom with nostalgia too. If we just keep replicating games from 1995 I think we would all get bored. Nostaliga is powerful like that. Many new gamers would not be impressed by a real Doom-lookalike - and they're not wrong to feel that way. I might enjoy Doom 2, but that's partially due to the memories associated with it, and because it takes me back to a previous time that I enjoyed. But if someone doesn't have that connection - and many don't - all it is, is an old and kind of crap game. And again - they're not really wrong!
Mythricia ah yes of course how could I forget Farcry, I loved gaming back then. I agree but I didn't mean for it to look exactly like Doom 1/2 just not so Doom 3 like, because it is very similar in the way it looks. Obviously I didn't mean replicate the whole look of the first two games, or feel. Just the levels are very similar (to Doom3) so far, not that it's bad, just like you said, but it is important to develop something new, the gameplay is a lot faster I guess so, yeah.
Man, when this game's first demo was released it blew my mind. Never fully played it till 2007, played on my friends Xbox, everything about it just made my expectations go through the roof for what would come. Not the best, but it is my favorite of the series. I wish i had that feeling of playing this again for the first time... just to think 2004 was so futuristic sounding at one time. Now it's a far off memory. What a time to grow up.
I originally heard that DOOM 3 wasn't too good but I just started going through Blindly and I gotta say, Im really liking it, I mean sure I rather the other DOOMs but this one is not bad at all. Can't wait to continue!
this song should've gone well in the ending for doom 64 (if there was a cutscene for it) the ending scene where DOOMGUY stays in between the dimensional tunnel between hell and earth forever guarding it, so this song would go well as the armies of hell go charging to earth and the camera zooms out of Doomguy revving up his chaingun with a shitload of weapons strapped on him and ammo next to him. then, cuts to black as soon as 0:45 starts

I gotta say this is the best theme song ever! It fits doom's dark and violent atmosphere perfectly well. Almost every time I opened the game I would pause at the menu until this song's over
Justin Lu Doom is not supposed to be horror.
GAEM Stuff Why do you get to decide what Doom is and isn't? Are you John Cormack or John Romero? No.
@@obiwaankenobi4460 what the fuck are you talking about
People give doom 3 too much shit for being different than classic doom. to be honest, I fucking love doom 3's atmosphere, those dark and dingy uac levels are great, and the few hell levels are actually unnerving as fuck and unlike classic doom, this shit is unsettling. I love how doom 3 doesn't make you a badass demon killing machine, but a normal guy who's only power is his shotgun. Truly a classic.
I remember being a kid playing this game on my dads pc and hearing this menu song creeping in the background, my god amazing words can’t describe that fuzzy feeling of nostalgia

Obviously they don't sound exactly alike, just some elements/maybe inspired by Tool, either way great track

so true Lmfao
The bass riff at the begining is sick, sounds so archaic
man, i remember when i was 13 or some shit i used to open up this game and just listen to the menu music for ages. great soundtrack, great game and i loved the flashlight mechanic in the game. the dynamic lighting was off the scale for the time, even holds up today.

Such an underrated classic game. Doom 3 will live on forever.

Even after so many years, ever since it came out on the original xbox... it will never get old. Headbangers for life
+David McKee Still have the original Doom 3 on Xbox in near perfect condition. Such nostalgia....
This is better than the only thing they fear is you

Real
It's crazy how many parts of this song ended up in DOOM 2016 tracks. The main bit was reused for the main part of Flesh and Metal, meanwhile other parts were reused in Harbinger and Skullhacker.
You know it's a timeless banger when it ends up in two of 2016's best tracks, one of those tracks being the single hardest in the game.
timeless banger
that consists of parts of three stolen songs

Love how this is pretty reminiscent of a lot of rock in the early 2000s, like how Doom(2016) uses a ton of modern stuff in its music.

This sounds so grunge era....for many reasons but mostly the drums.
Like something out of a highschool garage band; What a perfect era of music to experience adolescence in.
Much of it sounds like tool/NIN but I also hear influences from Filter and (early) Monster Magnet as well. It's like a tribute to the 90s.
I thought the bass intro riff sounded like Filter too.

The one (and only) thing _Doom 3_ has over the reboot:
Its menu music kicks *_so_* much more ass.
Ah, but the *combat* music is where it's at.

Yeah, that's one thing that the other DOOM games have over DOOM 3. I remember being disappointed playing DOOM 3 because of the lack of in-game music. I just played a bunch of Disturbed, Rammstein, etc while playing.
Reboot has a remake of the Doom 3 theme in it, called "Flesh and Metal". One of the combat themes.
But does it use a Chainsaw as the lead instrument?

@@Koorlybka Doom soundtracks have always paid tribute to metal bands.

Honestly, this is one of the best soundtracks in the series, barely beaten out by The Only Thing They Fear is You
Doom 3 was fucking awesome. Nothing compares to the experience of building a top PC in 2004 and playing this for the first time.
fukking metal!
I find it funny how I wasn’t born during the Doom Cycle and I have enough brain cells to realize just because a game in the series changed gameplay and wasn’t the same as previous ones doesn’t make it a bad game
Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal music makes you feel like a living weapon, while Doom 3 makes you feel like you're fighting for your life
Well it reflect on the gameplay doom 2016 and eternal is a run and gun style while doom 3 is more a survival horror
I would kill for another realistic-styled doom game like this, the demon designs are so damn cool
I'm bald but that doesn't stop the demons from making me head bang to this song
Definitely the best part of Doom 3. That and the fun little in game screens where your aim was also a mouse cursor.
“The only thing they fear, is you.”
This just finished installing after the spring sale, ive been stuck on the menu hearing this over and over again lmao
I love how the Ancient Gods soundtrack is more this than Metalstep we had for two games... a good change
This is so good I can't believe this isn't in the averge metal head Playlist
