Were he to wear his ring on his left had, it would be "clanking" against the tuba during the performance - that's what happens to me with my tuba; hence, I take it off when I play.

Simple nonsense. Baadsvik is reinventing the low brass and all of us who love big brass, have much to thank for Baadsvik. But the next generation of Euphonium and tubists will be better than all. Bill Bell should have lived long enough to have heard Baadsvik and Falcone should have lived to hear Childs.

One of the great ironies of instruments like the Tuba being used for solo performances is that they are among the loudest of instruments, yet struggle to be heard over the backing orchestra. This guy is fantastic, but he could really have benefited from a slightly amplified mike onstage.

i play tuba. I had an argument with a clainet in my band the other day about witch instrument is better. he literally just said "name one piece that has a tuba melody" and I got speechless. I'm sending him this video now.

To do this with a tuba is of equivalent difficulty to juggling chainsaws standing on the floating leaves of a pond while giving a piggyback ride to a rhinoceros. Bravo sir, bravo.

the cadenza is written as he plays it to the first G he hits. he then extends the solo down another 2 octaves. That makes a double pedal G. When he reads this he might say something.
