Were he to wear his ring on his left had, it would be "clanking" against the tuba during the performance - that's what happens to me with my tuba; hence, I take it off when I play.
I love this so much! Being a tuba player myself this is very inspiring, for once and a while people will hear our amazingness other than just in the backround
Simple nonsense. Baadsvik is reinventing the low brass and all of us who love big brass, have much to thank for Baadsvik. But the next generation of Euphonium and tubists will be better than all. Bill Bell should have lived long enough to have heard Baadsvik and Falcone should have lived to hear Childs.
My man, you are to this day my favorite tuba player out there, and you inspire me to be better every time I see one of your videos. Thank you for that, dude.
This is the only man in the world that has made a total career on solo tuba performance...He went to LMU TN on his tour in the US...Luckly the director at LMU brought him down to our highschool Union County High School where he gave a free master class to the tuba and baritone students from the surrounding schools and colleges it was a honor
One of the great ironies of instruments like the Tuba being used for solo performances is that they are among the loudest of instruments, yet struggle to be heard over the backing orchestra. This guy is fantastic, but he could really have benefited from a slightly amplified mike onstage.
I'm pretty late to the party, but you need to hear Patrick Sheridan. That dude wails even higher on this tune. I think Patrick has a smoother tone too.
+Starf I like it, but I can't say it's better than this just like you say it. There is no best tuba player at everything in tuba. But I still like Brandstotter :)

The high tone is also beautiful, the vibrato is also beautiful, the pitch is also beautiful. And that very difficult rhythm was truly brilliant though it was really hard at the tuba. Cool! ! Øystein Baadsvik is a musician that truly puts on a show, not only is his superhuman talent entertaining but also his stage presence and character, I would love to attend one of his shows if he visits Northern England
I’m no brass expert, but the sound of the tuba is so satisfying. I just can’t describe it, and his fingers on the valves, they’re pressing so fast 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I received an etude from a band instructor today because I did so well on memerizing the music we played that he "wanted to give me a challenge" I figured "why not just look up some Tuba solos to see where I could be if I practice?..." After seeing this video, I fucking quit.
Fantastic Tuba solo by Baadsvik. And great facial expressions like a vocalist would do. I like the way he made the high notes and the vivace passages look hard. I know how hard it is for most of us to do, but the ease and flow of the sound proved he had no problem.
Ah fantastic! Thank you for this, you seem to love performing... And the audience loves you! All these years later look how many are still enjoying it!
As a young tubist myself, this is very inspiring and insanely motivating to me. It really reminds me of why I started to learn in the first place when it can get frustrating sometimes. Really love tuba soli. The sound is beautiful and he lets it seem so easy 🤩
This man's amazing. He surpasses Arnold Jacobs and any other great tuba player easily; not just because of his brute ability to play his instrument but for his charisma and creativity and his ability to sway mass crowds of people.

"Gotta let the ladies know when you can play tuba like that"
No, that's because he's norwegian, and in Norway they wear it on theur right hand. :D

Never mind that, I heard him fine, but the camera work was also superb.
It's because high notes cut through low notes and are heard easier, that's why no one played when he played low notes
You can't be serious
You might have a different opinion if you were listening through better headphones/speakers.
What? The balance was pretty much perfect
