- Champorado is a well-loved chocolate rice porridge from the Philippines that is usually made using glutinous rice and tablea (Filipino local chocolate). Abi Marquez will be making not just one, but three varieties (classic, strawberry, and ube!) of this favorite snack using accessible ingredients that are available anywhere!
Champorado base (per flavor)
1 cup of glutinous rice (malagkit), soaked overnight
5 (or more) cups of water or coconut milk
Salt to Taste
For classic champorado:
1/8 cup dutch-process cocoa powder
4 pcs. tablea
brown sugar to taste
For strawberry champorado:
150g fresh strawberries, sliced and marinated in 2 tbsp white sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
condensed milk or white sugar to taste
strawberry extract and red food coloring (optional)
For ube champorado:
1/4 cup ube halaya
ube-flavored condensed milk or plain condensed milk
ube extract (optional)

I tried making mango champorado and its delish!! It's inspired from mango sticky rice that's why i made it. I made an intant one:
Fresh cooked rice
Powdered milk
Little bit of hot water
Mango slices
Mix and mush them all together!!
If you had coconut milk and fat it would be even more like mango sticky rice 💪
I always use black rice in chocolate champorado! Definitely tastes better!

Nakakaluto pa rin kami kahi hindi malagkit ang gamit namin sa bahay. Puwede nga ang bahaw, eh, nagiging champorado pa rin. And hindi cocoa powder gamit namin, pure tablea talaga na tinutunaw namin sa one cup hot water then mini-mix sa rice .

Classic champorado will taste even more delicious if you pour first coconut milk while cooking and the evaporated milk as toppings.. yummy 😋😋😋, childhood fave rainy season snacks.

you should try using ube halaya when making ube champorado. its a bit of an arm workout kase kelangan madurog ung ube halaya when mixing sa pagpapakulo. but sooo worth it. doesnt need food coloring na din

Yong MaMa ko malagkit na Black Rice ang gamit pag gumagawa ng Champorado,kaya plage may tanim yong Papa ko iba't ibang uri ng Palay especially malagkit,good thing may sarili kaming palayan at medyo malawak din,kaya minos gastos pagbibili pa ng bigas n malagkit,sa mahal ng bilihin ngayon sa pinas,at paborito dn tlga ng Pamilya namin ang Champorado.

And a teaspoon/ or pinch of salt too
Regular rice is good too. inexpensive too as compared to glutinous rice

sa 7/11 may pre cooked silang champorado ube and chocolate. Both flavore is good but I personally love the ube one.
Ps: Authentica champ binebenta nila na nasa plastic bowl cup. Gawa talaga sa malagkit and di artificial rice. Try niyo.🥰

That is why she added salt while cooking it..but i guess adding a bit of cheese i a good idea (kind of, not really a fan of cheese, but for those who likes cheese in everything single thing/dish, i mean..why not)
As a Filipino, I never ate champorado with fried fish. Eeeww!
Kakachamporado ko lang! 😂😂😂 di ko pa nasubukan yong malagkit yong ginagamit ko for champorado. I just use any premium rice I have and nilulugaw ko muna xa. No salt. I prefer na less water, well yong hindi masyadong masabaw but still sticky. Tapos yong tableya is yong premium na tableya (preferably Guilang) kasi dark talaga yong kulay. And I only put in sugar if and when I put it sa plate na kasi I cook for people with different sweetness level preference. And no bulad 😂😂😂 I really can't stand bulad with champorado. Just milk and sugar, solb na. Let's just say, I'm not the type to be adventurous with food. Especially champorado. Champorado is a snack to me as well as to my family. And bulad, to us, is best when you have that piping hot rice and vinegar. Mapapataas talaga isang paa mo and taob kaldero 😂😂.
So what is champorado? 🤔 Can we call other lugaw dishes a champorado? Hmmm..
