I think one factor you forgot to mention is that type specific Immunities would now be even more prevalent defensively and giving Pokémon like Klefki the Ghost/Steel/Fairy type gives it not only 4 immunities but also makes it have the ability to not be trapped by trapping moves and abilities. By giving triple types you risk a lot of Pokémon not only having more offenses but having more niche immunities like immunity to Powder moves, immunity to prankster, immunity to Burn/Poison/Paralysis, trapping moves. It’s already one thing to know all the intricacies of the current types like Ice types being immune to Sheer Cold and Freeze, but now having to balance Sheer Cold immunity with anti-trapping and prankster immunity is a lot more information to manage.
Side note: IMO making dark types immune to prankster feels like a lazy way to nerf the ability, it doesn't really add strategic depth in an interesting way and feels more like just a bonus instead of something you can plan around. They could at least make it not affect the turn order instead of just making the prankster move fail...

I prefer this style of content, but do also like seeing the goofy ones every now and then. I think these theory videos are best presented like this, whereas casual conversations about things like moves and such are served well with the casual atmosphere he brings to them.
I think the bigger problem than 8x weaknesses is that 4x weaknesses would become a lot more common. Pokemon with 4x weaknesses are almost barely playable and with 3 types the likelihood of each individual Pokemon having 1 or more 4x weakness triples.
Okay, x8 weaknesses, are you serious?! That's for if Pokemon are able to get a 4th type and all 4 types share the same weakness. The correction is if the type combination has the same weaknesses for all 3 types, it's 6x weakness to a particular type (for example Bug/Grass/Fairy-Type would now be 6x weak to Poison-Types). Same thing for if all 3 types are super effective against the same type, then it would be 6x for super effective damage.
As for the complications of STAB, the one way they could balance it would be if STAB got weaker the more types a Pokemon has. For example, 1.6x for monotypes, 1.3x for dual types, and 1.2x for triple types.
Every single one of his arguments can be countered with the following implementation: Make a held item (??? stone), that gives you an additional type when your Pokemon is holding it. Only once on each team, like Z moves or mega stones. So Gyarados + Dragon Stone = Water/Flying/Dragon Won't have OP boost of triple STAB + Choice item, just triple STAB and better resistances, won't have 8x weaknesses (unless the player chooses to have that), won't be hard to design, you don't need new forms, just indicate the item with a recolour (Charizard + Dragon Stone = some purple elements/ purple particles around it)
@@aldoushuxley5953 Hey, this is neat! This would also negate the OP of some mons that would benefit from a new held item like Gyarados with dragon-water-flying type.
@@frank2mb True :) I think it is likely that this will be the new gimmick, since the gimmicks are usually "teased" first. So for example the gems in gen 5, and then Z crystals in gen 7. We have the moves Halloween and Forest Curse, which add the ghost or grass type, and the ability steelworker, which adds stab to steel moves (but not the steel resistances) I kind of feel like this has all be implemented, to see if third types are necessarily OP...
@@IgnitedQuils Sound-type might be interesting but I'm not sure how different it could be from Normal. I thought about separating Flying into Aerial and Wind, similar to Rock and Ground being separate, and Sound moves could be incorporated into Wind but then I get stuck and weak/resist charts for it. What I would be really interested in would be a Light type. I've seen people argue against a Light type, saying that Normal/Psychic/Fairy is basically already the "Light" type. I argue instead of thinking in terms of moves like Flash and Moonblast, convential light, make the Light type the Angel or Holy type. Pokemon doesn't have any conventional angels or holy figures outside of Arceus so I think it would make a really compelling type!

@@defensivekobra3873 and in a few cases like eelektross specifically the levitate is given to a single type pokemon, electric has ground as the only weakness and levitate just solves that for the most part (except against the mold breaker ability and the smack down move, anyway both can be also covered by stucking a flying balloon on that motherfuckin fish) but without giving it any of the weaknesses of flying type pokemon and also giving none of the stabsp, but i get that it sounds interesting if the ability was "third type: X" only given to dual type pokemon and maybe as a hidden ability in some cases or a second ability that would be kind of a sacrifice of the powerful first ability for pokemons like solgaleo making you choose between having "full metal body" or the damage modifiers and stabs of the "third type: fire"
I think an interesting way to balance tri-typing is to slowly weaken stab moves based on the number of types. 1 Type: +50% Stab 2 Types: +40% Stab 3 Types: +30% Stab This makes it where you trade power for coverage. This balance allows for single types to be the strongest in their stab moves, and might allow for an interesting change in the meta.
But you aren't trading power for coverage, because a pokemon can't choose how many types it wants to have, it just has them. It would be a major nerf to pokemon who don't need it
@@dracoblizzard7944 the solution isn’t perfect, but if a Pokémon has 3 types, their coverage is automatically better by default due to the number of stab moves. Fun Fact : In the video talking about Lugia and Ho-oh when they were distributed in USUM, the developers said that the only reason that Lugia had a psychic type was because this type was powerful when gen 2 was released. That's it
Then, they should change it since they were able to add and change the previous types to fairies already. Now a days, their excuses encompasses 1 word, Laziness.

My guess is as a fellow vgc player it could be that dynamax makes defensive play less effective and games can pretty easily be decided in the first turn if a person has a good lead and then capitalizes with a max pokemon.
I've always found Cradily's typing to be very interesting, and I think adding something like water typing would make for a fairly interesting mon, albeit potentially broken. I feel like it would make sense canonically as an ancient plant as it looks like those tendrils could absorb water.
Drapion should’ve been Dark, Poison, and Bug type. I know this change would probably just make it worse defensively, put it just makes too much sense thematically. It’s pre-evolution Scorupi even IS a bug type so this one feels like an obvious choice to me.
ok but what if every pokemon could Also be "SUPER NORMAL TYPE": these pokemon are so normal that they have 0 weaknesses and hit everything for weakness. that’s what we REALLY need in pokemon rn
That's a great idea but what if they introduced the "ULTRA EVOLUTION": after mega evolving, some pokemon can ULTRA evolve and every single one of their moves is replaced by a one hit KO move that can't be evaded or protected (and it also bypasses substitute and shit) that would make pokemon great again for sure

Masquerain could retain its water typing! That's a big deal to me as my gen 3 bug-type runs always hit major speed bumps when reaching rock or fire types (Flannery, Team Magma). Surskit with bubble (yes bubble), was a huge boon, until it evolves, loses its stab and gets a 4x weakness to rock, just to become a glorified beautifly or ninjask - which are already on my team

Unfortunately Masquerain isn't really a good fit for water typing in the lore, it can't fly in the rain and all of its limbs being wings makes that a big problem.
Consider: You could choose a third type as either a defensive or offensive type. Dragonite can create mighty storms but it doesn't have a body made of lightning.

I especially enjoy that Wolfey said the main problem for 3 types is how OP they would be offensively and terastilisation only gives 3 types to Pokémon offensively and not defensively.
I think one of the best way to implement a "third" typing would be this: - Make the third typing into a item. - Any pokemon holding this item gets that typing, including STAB and weaknesses. - Everytime a pokemon with that item appears it says "pokemon is now also x type" - You can knock off to remove the item + typing - You can fling your item to make the target into that typing until they change out. (overrides their current type item if they had any) - You can trick your item to change both yours and the enemys typing. And since its a item, you have to debate between "do I want more power with power orb/survability with leftovers or do I want to be more versitile in my STAB/Resists?" It would at least be the most interesting way to do things
Or like there will be just one item and a pokemon will get a third type once that item is held. For example, charizard will be fire/flying/dragon while holding the item while flygon will be bug/ground/dragon while holding the same item. The unpredictability can be reduced this way as well as reducing typings on pokemon that just does not make any sense at all. We wouldn't want a infernape with water typing now would we
@@shadmankabir5916 I agree. It would be incredibly cool to see what new types all the pokemon would have. What could also happen, is that only a few pokemon get the extra types, and the item is specific for them. It would fit the game because items have changed pokemons before. I definitely think 3 types would be interesting to see at least, even if they may be broken. Perhaps we could see an eternamax-like one off 3 type pokemon, idk.
For Lunala, I think that Fairy type fits way better than Dark type, because Moonblast and Moonlight are both Fairy type, and Dark is more an "Evil type" than a "Darkness and night" type.
Exactly. The Japanese name for dark type also literally means "evil". Dark type pokemon and moves are usually more about deception, thievery, and bad intentions than literal darkness. It's why criminal organizations use a lot of dark type pokemon.
I'd give a third type to my favorite Pokémon Toucannon. Idk what type would even make sense but I'd do anything to make that bird more viable lmao Great wideo across the board. I especially loved the editing in this one!
I think that the first problem could be fixed by simply capping the super effective move bonus at 4x. Keeping it similar to how it was, and fixing the issue without making one type too powerful and one Pokémon extremely weak.
Instead of making something 8x weak, you’d need to rescale everything so that it’s more linear than exponential. E.g - 1x damage when neutral, 2x when weak, 3x when double type weak, 4x when triple type weak.
This is a really clever idea! I personally think something like 1x, 2x, 3.5x, 5x would be better so that a triple weakness would still be more than a current double weakness and the change doesn't hugely buff mons with current double weaknesses, but the idea behind your solution is interesting and creative!
@@nikunjkhangwal oh, definitely didn't see that. I think Dhelmise should have been discussed, not just been a comedic half second flash on screen. It literally is a perfect example of what he's talking about and he just ignores it?
@@TitanBait Well that's understandable but hey it's no big deal. There are many others who are more than just 2 types. A person can't cover all of them for fans.
Now: consider fan rotom. Adding the flying type would be perfect for him! It would give immunity to ground type, protecting its electric typing! And it fits tematically!
There have been diferent ways to try to implement a 3rd type withoutbeeig too OP: For example Steelworker ability for steel stab on Dhelmise Or in a room hack called Pokémon insurgence, where theres mega gothitelle (psyquic dark) had has an hability that givs her only the resistances and immunities of ghost type Or even electross with levitate, which is the same as having only the immunity of flying type What I'm trying to say is that abilities like this is the best way Pokémon has to try implementing a 3rd type Pokémon in an specific way without changing the metagame complety and too unbalanced and complicated.
But then a third type actually being implemented would invalidate those abilities, no? What would stop them from giving Dhelmise the steel type and such. It would be weird tbh.
@@Takapon218 I suppose if they implemented a 3rd type it would be like megas or gigantamax Like imagine if because of legends of arceus history they put ancestral form or something like this in gen 9 They could implement 3 types only in specific mons, a few of them

It is an .exe file, like most PC-based video games. This means that you don't need any extra programs to run it, and that it won't necessarily run on all platforms that can run ROM hacks."
I love that the topic of a third type gets tossed around so much and discussions on the concept are always speculation... but forest's curse already exists.
Dark-type Lunala doesn't fit imo because I don't see it fitting as an "evil" Pokémon. I think an even more fitting type for it is Fairy due to its association with the moon, and that would be so insane because having fairy type is always nice and loses it's 4x weakness for a 2x weakness.
Also with the theme of alchemy it makes sense as well. The moon is seen as feminine and magical, both of which are represented by the fairy type Also moonlight and moonblast are fairy type, so the moon is already established as being associated with fairy types
@@e-money2141 Dark type is "evil" type in Japanese, the game's original language. I think you always have to take that into account when thinking about a "dark" type
Gyarados not having dragon type is actually it's reason for existing. There's some eastern legend where if a carp jumps over the dragon gate, it will begin to fly and turn into a dragon. But dragons have to be good and one of these dragons was too angry, and so had its dragonic nature removed, though it could still fly. That's the origin for Gyarados.
genuinely enjoyed this video, lots of knowledge but gave me lots of laughs too - love ur personality. also perfect timing cause this video comes at a time where there are rumors of a 3rd type mechanic this gen
@SniperShiv Altaria does learning Disarming Voice and Moonblast by level up, also Dazzling Gleam and Play Rough by TM. Plus its nature can fit with being a Fairy type.
Nice video, but I think we all knew going into this topic that it's not a viable option for a few key reason which you naturally covered. The more palatable game changer, in my opinion, would be dual-type moves. So, for example, fire punch would be fire/fighting type, scald fire/water type, etc. That would bring a new tactical layer to movesets without overcomplicating the battle mechanics, I think.
@@iantaakalla8180 not if its third type is water, which is honestly more likely for it to get i mean, the whole concept of dhelmise is that it _isn't_ the anchor, so actually steel is probably the _least_ likely tritype for it to get
I’d be curious how it would function if a third type were added, but in such a way that all multipliers for it are reduced. Like, a Pokemon’s tertiary type only changes weaknesses/resistances by 1.5x, and it’s STAB is only a 1.2x boost or something. The third type is still relevant like this, but inherently nerfed compared to the primary two types
I’ve thought about something like that when thinking about how the order of a Pokémon’s types doesn’t matter, like Toxapex is Poison/Water but tentacool is Water / Poison and rn it doesn’t matter. Tiering the types so their impact is like what you’re suggesting could work
When you said a pair of legendaries, I was sure you were going to talk about the ones I had been waiting for all video, Kyurems black and white formes. I remember being sure they'd have a third type when "pokemon grey" inevitably was going to come out
The fangame Pokémon Insurgence introduces an ability that gives the user the resistances and immunities of Ghost types, while not giving them the weaknesses or giving their Ghost-type moves STAB, essentially like the reverse of Steelworker. It works really well as a sort of pseudo third type and it's something I'd love to see in future official games. It was wild trying to use Fake Out on a Psychic-type only to learn it was immune
Your editing style never fails to bring a smile to my face. Keep at it! I do like the idea of Pokemon having 3 typings from a lore perspective (like Toxicroak, it should absolutely be Poison/Fighting/Dark) but the balancing issues caused by it would be insane. Maybe having abilities that add STAB like Dhelmise's might be an okay addition?
For the 8x weakness issue, there is already at least one existing Pokemon suffering from this - Dry Skin Parasect. Grass/Bug + an extra fire weakness from Dry Skin really hurts. I'm also kindof surprised you didn't cover Trick-or-Treat or Forest Curse, which allow for 3 or even 4 typings on a Pokemon. Oh, and Dhelmise lives underwater and is not Water type.
@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 I didn't say Dhelmise is 3 type, I mentioned Dhelmise because Wolfe commented that all Pokémon that live underwater are Water types.
When you think about it, charizard shouldn’t ever get dragon. If charizard got dragon, it would take neutral damage from water. Something that no fire type starter should be able to do.
It's cool that you've been talking about typing so much lately! Especially since it seems as if that may have something to do with the gimmick of Gen 9, based on the big mural with all of the types in a circle we saw in the trailer.
Pokémon that thematically have a third type, like Charizard-dragon, should get an “associated type” added as a 3rd (or even 4th) type. This could give something like a 1.2x stab bonus. A third 1.5x stab would be really strong and somewhat game breaking. But a 1.2x damage bonus to the 3rd type would be a nice nod.
a lot of good arguments against pokemon having 3 types, bug imagine a volcorona switching in only to get oneshit by stealth rocks (or surviving thanks to sash), that would be hella funny
Kyurem would be thematically fit for third types, maybe base Kyurem (emptiness) being ghost, and then the fusions adopting the respective elemental type of Reshiram and Zekrom - absolutely wouldn't be balanced as Kyurem also gets access to their respective signature moves, but in theory it might weaken it defensively but may also buff it in some regards too
It was real interesting to see how adding a third type changed things up. Does make me wonder though; how much would it change if Lunala gained Fairy type instead of Dark?
I loved playing with Delhmise in the Alola Games, because it gave some varied options. I feel that giving a few other Pokémon a similar ability is the fair way to balance it: it gives the offensive benefits, but only by sacrificing a different ability (and can be exclusive to fit a Pokémon's theme)

2:48 - Nice trick. Thought I was losing my mind and had actually forgotten its type. I feel like it'd be cool if, instead of giving a third type to a Pokemon, they gave a secondary type to the _moves_ in some situations. I feel like that'd be a nice in-between from this video and the last one about learning a 5th move.
Even though a Pokémon with three types will probably never happen (due to the same reason why Pokémon probably won’t have 5 moves), it’s very interesting to see what the meta would look like if they did exist and what Pokémon would get them. Also, it’ll be cool to see a video on what if stuff like Mega Evolution and/or Z-Moves where in Sword and Shield to see how well they fair up against Dynamax and what the meta would look like if they got added.
With both of the changes you’ve talked about recently, like third types and extra moves, it got me thinking that the most interesting thing I could hope out of game freak would be hybridization. Making breeding even more dynamic and maybe letting Pokémon inherit types from others in their egg groups could help out Pokémon lower on the ladder and add more diversity to those at the top. Meanwhile legendaries and mythicals that can’t breed wouldnt benefit at all, hopefully making it so they cant abuse the system and nullify any reason for change!
We have already kind of seen this with dhelmise’s steelworker ability effectively giving it stab steel moves. I think there maybe more mons like this but none with 3 types at once.
Personally, I feel like Pokemon should stick with what it's doing in having abilities that act as a third typing. Steelworker is the obvious poster child, but another interesting example is Toxtricity's "Punk Rock", which ostensibly makes it a Sound Type Pokemon, adding both Stab and a resistance.
I would give my favorite pokemon, Golurk, the fighting type. I don't think it would help defensively that much, but Golurk generally has fighting type moves most of the time anyway, and it makes sense outside of combat as well.
Idea: non mainline game like stadium or coliseum, that has numerous experimental/long thought of gimmicks like 3 types possibles (but I hope they'd lower Stab to something like 25%+ to not be insane)
tiotally agree; I feel very strongly that Muddy Water should be completely reworked to be accurate and without the secondary accuracy-dropping effect, but given dual Water+Ground typing - this would make it so much more fun both to use and to face in competitive battles
Aura wheel is signature move of morpeko Electric type in normal mode Dark type in hangry mode so it is dual type but not both electric and dark in same form
Hey Wolfe, I’m loving these theoretical videos so far. Could you do a video on what if gamefreak added a new type(s)? I’m curious on what something like the sound type would do to the game.
I personally think Sound would be a dumb addition. Sound is already a sub-class of moves such as Sing and Hyper Voice. Also, finding weaknesses and resistances for it would be hard. I'm sorry if I sounded rude at all, I mean no hate towards you or your ideas.
What if it was a third type could be gained through an item that can be activated during battle like a mega stone or z-crystal? You could limit it to one Pokemon per battle and it could be a generational gimmick.
When considering this myself, I pictured that maybe Pokémon with 3 types would have their STAB bonus weakened. Maybe even monotype Pokémon could have it strengthened. Something like 1.4x-1.5x-1.6x would probably need to be retuned and implemented carefully, but I think it would be a good way to balance out the fact that more type usually = better. Thoughts?
Great video topic, probably every big Charizard fan has thought "what if he had a Dragon type" (myself included).. Like you said, it seems like it would be a fun change for a bit, but makes everything severely more complicated. And with pokemon being restricted to 4 moves, it further supports the idea of how big of an overhaul it would be to implement.
If you had 3 types, you'd probably have to add a Grass typing to both rider forms of Calyrex, it would be kind of neat to have Ice Rider have a 4x weakness like Shadow Rider.

A lot of things move before they're trying to grab your attention instead of when they're trying to grab your attention. The topic, presentation and analysis were great and interesting!
That'd be a neat way to balance. Kinda like how some fighting games balance 3v1s by making the 1 far bulkier than any one of the 3.
More types doesn't mean a better pokemon, as it can increase its weaknesses. Lowering stab dmg would turn them into complete garbage
Every single one of his arguments can be countered with the following implementation:
Make a held item (??? stone), that gives you an additional type when your Pokemon is holding it. Only once on each team, like Z moves or mega stones.
So Gyarados + Dragon Stone = Water/Flying/Dragon
Won't have OP boost of triple STAB + Choice item, just triple STAB and better resistances, won't have 8x weaknesses (unless the player chooses to have that), won't be hard to design, you don't need new forms, just indicate the item with a recolour (Charizard + Dragon Stone = some purple elements/ purple particles around it)
@@aldoushuxley5953 Hey, this is neat! This would also negate the OP of some mons that would benefit from a new held item like Gyarados with dragon-water-flying type.
@@frank2mb True :)
I think it is likely that this will be the new gimmick, since the gimmicks are usually "teased" first.
So for example the gems in gen 5, and then Z crystals in gen 7.
We have the moves Halloween and Forest Curse, which add the ghost or grass type, and the ability steelworker, which adds stab to steel moves (but not the steel resistances)
I kind of feel like this has all be implemented, to see if third types are necessarily OP...
I’d like to see Wolfey create a new type and how he’d implement it competitively and thematically
This actually sounds like a really good idea! Interacting to increase the odds of him seeing this
Like the Sound type, something people kept theorizing even during Gen 6

Eh nah
Kind of like mega evolution
I think an interesting way to balance tri-typing is to slowly weaken stab moves based on the number of types.
1 Type: +50% Stab
2 Types: +40% Stab
3 Types: +30% Stab
This makes it where you trade power for coverage.
Mixing types has a defensive downside, but offensively there is zero downside to adding more types.

I especially enjoy that Wolfey said the main problem for 3 types is how OP they would be offensively and terastilisation only gives 3 types to Pokémon offensively and not defensively.
I think one of the best way to implement a "third" typing would be this:
- Make the third typing into a item.
- Any pokemon holding this item gets that typing, including STAB and weaknesses.
- Everytime a pokemon with that item appears it says "pokemon is now also x type"
- You can knock off to remove the item + typing
- You can fling your item to make the target into that typing until they change out. (overrides their current type item if they had any)
- You can trick your item to change both yours and the enemys typing.
And since its a item, you have to debate between "do I want more power with power orb/survability with leftovers or do I want to be more versitile in my STAB/Resists?"
It would at least be the most interesting way to do things
I believe there is a Twitter leaker that has said that the gimmick for Gen 9 is something along these lines

I think that the first problem could be fixed by simply capping the super effective move bonus at 4x. Keeping it similar to how it was, and fixing the issue without making one type too powerful and one Pokémon extremely weak.
Or make type weakness be 2x, 3x, 4x, instead of 2x, 4x, 8x
Instead of making something 8x weak, you’d need to rescale everything so that it’s more linear than exponential.
E.g - 1x damage when neutral, 2x when weak, 3x when double type weak, 4x when triple type weak.
I just find it funny imagining something that's 8x weak to rock just instantly dying as soon as it's sent out when Stealth Rock is up.
I could imagine Volcarona given a flying type

This is a really clever idea! I personally think something like 1x, 2x, 3.5x, 5x would be better so that a triple weakness would still be more than a current double weakness and the change doesn't hugely buff mons with current double weaknesses, but the idea behind your solution is interesting and creative!
What if they just scaled down type effectiveness to 1.5x and resistance to ⅔x?
Why no one think about 1x (neutral) -> 2x -> 4x -> 6x

I remember being sure they'd have a third type when "pokemon grey" inevitably was going to come out
Flygon is such a hodgepodge of different ideas, it could legitimately be a Dragon/Ground/Flying/Bug and it would still make conceptual sense.
The fangame Pokémon Insurgence introduces an ability that gives the user the resistances and immunities of Ghost types, while not giving them the weaknesses or giving their Ghost-type moves STAB, essentially like the reverse of Steelworker. Your editing style never fails to bring a smile to my face. Keep at it!

I think we're covered with dark types that shouldn't be dark types like Absol, Alolan Weezing and the Stunky line thank you.
@@IgnitedQuils while dark type was meant to be the evil type, I feel like the theme of it has become more implication than intention at this rate. A.Weezing is dark because the implication of it being a sign of pollution, not necessarily because it's evil
when i saw the plates for the first time i thought they would add their respective typing to the pokemon equipping it. It would be cool if they function like that.
That would mess up so many things its not even funny
@@trappedcosmos competitive is gonna be more chaotic
@@Des_kun4033 Although I am a fan of chaos it would completely ruin competitive. Btw how would Arceus work then if plates change pokemon types would Arceus just always have the legend plate active
@@trappedcosmos i think you can still choose which plate to equip but if it's in this theoretical situation most people would just pick the legend plate because it has every type in it. Also your question reminds me of a video, What if arceus has all types.
Like flying press?
Wolfey: 3 types of STAB on a Pokémon would be a bad thing
Game Freak: now introducing terastalization!
Theres been rumors how Gen 9s gimmick involves 3 types
What about trick or treat/forests curse? doesnt it add a type?
(Didnt finish the video yet so idk if he talked about it)
The animations here are super well done, so great job dude!
I love these kind of videos Wolfey, I really do. Thank you so much.
I heard that Gen 9s mechanic might involve with 3 types, maybe then we could see how that goes
Personally, I feel like Pokemon should stick with what it's doing in having abilities that act as a third typing. Steelworker is the obvious poster child, but another interesting example is Toxtricity's "Punk Rock", which ostensibly makes it a Sound Type Pokemon, adding both Stab and a resistance.
i think the most plausible way for game freak to do a pokemon with three types is a legendary which is grass/fire/water type.
Fire/Bug/Flying Volcarona switches into stealth rocks, immediately dies. Better hope they keep HDB in the game
No, it would take 75%.
For it to die from full hp, itd need to have ice/bug/fire/flying
I would give my favorite pokemon, Golurk, the fighting type. I don't think it would help defensively that much, but Golurk generally has fighting type moves most of the time anyway, and it makes sense outside of combat as well.
I think the most deserving is definitely solgaleo, it is completely ridiculous for the literal sun to not be fire type
To be fair, the sun isn’t fire. It’s made by gamma rays, hydrogen and nuclear fusion.
@@IgnitedQuils Wait what? So we're been lied all this time?
In that vein, Lunala could get the addition of dark
Except it's not the literal sun.
@@graemetang4173 or ice
Idea: non mainline game like stadium or coliseum, that has numerous experimental/long thought of gimmicks like 3 types possibles (but I hope they'd lower Stab to something like 25%+ to not be insane)
Triple typing would rock the meta.
Weaknesses and strengths will change for so many Pokémon.
Imagine gyarados being water flying and dragon
I'd love to see a video on why more attacks don't have two types, as far as I know "Flying Press" is the only dual type attack
tiotally agree; I feel very strongly that Muddy Water should be completely reworked to be accurate and without the secondary accuracy-dropping effect, but given dual Water+Ground typing - this would make it so much more fun both to use and to face in competitive battles
Aura wheel is signature move of morpeko
Electric type in normal mode
Dark type in hangry mode so it is dual type but not both electric and dark in same form
I guess he predicted Terrastilization.
A water fire grass legendary would go absolutely crazy
Bro really predicted terastalising
Hey Wolfe, I’m loving these theoretical videos so far. Could you do a video on what if gamefreak added a new type(s)? I’m curious on what something like the sound type would do to the game.
I personally think Sound would be a dumb addition. Sound is already a sub-class of moves such as Sing and Hyper Voice. Also, finding weaknesses and resistances for it would be hard. I'm sorry if I sounded rude at all, I mean no hate towards you or your ideas.
@@pureteddybear_ honestly I agree, I just want to see Wolfe talk about it lol
@@BulkeyBlaziken57 Fair enough. I would love to see his approach on it.
I Mean he technically predicted it right?
Wolfy VGC:" Pokemon shouldn't have 3 types. It's a bad idea. 😅"
GameFreak: " And I took that personaly" *makes Scarlet and Violet gimmick 😈*
What if it was a third type could be gained through an item that can be activated during battle like a mega stone or z-crystal? You could limit it to one Pokemon per battle and it could be a generational gimmick.
Yeah I like that idea
Hmm. This aged well
When considering this myself, I pictured that maybe Pokémon with 3 types would have their STAB bonus weakened.
Shadow rider goes from having 2 weaknesses (X4) to 5 weaknesses. That would be balanced tho?
Lucario seems like, even though it's already Fighting and Steel, it would be obvious to add Psychic to its type!
And then scarlet an violet came😂
your content is amazing XDD not only informative to noobs like me (your explenations are really good) but also your jokes always crack me up!! Thanks for putting this on the internet
Who’s watching this after the terastal reveal
One odd ball Pokémon which I would say could actually be 4 types with Flygon, not only does it look like a bug but it has flying in its name, meaning I could totally see it as some crazy ground/dragon/bug/flying.
hey, wait...
lmao
I really liked the video.
As far as the editing goes, I think things move a bit much. It's very hectic visually on top of a very hectic topic as is. A lot of things move before they're trying to grab your attention instead of when they're trying to grab your attention.
The topic, presentation and analysis were great and interesting!
It would be cool to see a triple type be a gimmick for a Pokémon or a line of Pokémon. Like an alternate eevee style branched evolution or rotom form shift.
