no matter what you say, I believe, this is simply another great performance of evgeny kissin... he is either you like it or not the only living pianist with that many awards, and nobody can imitate him.
Kissin has such incredible technique & polish, and is thrilling to hear, but like all pianist, some performances are better than others. This one tops his performance of the Minute Waltz in Rome on 5//30/07...not just because the recording was more of a "home-made quality", but his phrasing was odd and he sounded somewhat unprepared with what seemed to be an encore selection that he "pulled out of his hat". Even at that, his technique is STILL MAGNIFICENT! as we all know. Katheryne
Yes, I fully agree with you. Listen to him and Martha Argerich play Mozart`s sonata for two pianos in D K448 . They play this beautiful sonata at jet neck speed . When I commented on this , a person replied that I was ignorant of the term - Allegro which he said was FAST I wrote that my music dictionary gave the meaning of Allegro = sprightly, and lively. He claimed that in Mozart`s time all performers played much faster than they do today .
i suddenly scared when he pushes the note f at the last Db maj gamut :) i was waiting a soft touch like all other pianists do :) it was a wonderful performannce!
@ksm748 that's because, and i dont know why, it has become a sort of fetish amongst concert pianists to play the 'minute' valse in literally one minute (as if the minute was for time and not for size). i dont know, for them, it's like a race to see who plays it faster or finishes first. 'bloodsports' like glenn gould used to say.
@Canonindxxx I am a Piano Player myself, I think my limits are a bit above the turkish march (which I can play now :D) and the Minute Waltz. I wouln´t be able to play it that fast, good thing I don´t wanna. But yes, it takes ALOT skill to play THAT fast. What Kissin makes one of my favorites, are his beautiful interpretions such as when to play loud when quiet etc. But I guess even he ain´t perfect as heard in this video.
@yonishalom100 I think it was amazing, and just because it wasn't done in !:30 or less doesn't mean he failed. He didn't rush the middle as usual pianist do, he just played it as he interpreted.
I've seen a lot of comments on tempo for this peice. My opinion is its a song about a small dog... the faster the tempo the smaller the dog, the more variable the tempo the more confused the dog.
Hopelessdreamer14...It's concentration & every inch of the body being immersed in the rhythm. Have you ever seen a child intently coloring or working on some project? So many children stick their tongues halfway out of their mouths & move them from side to side. That's just some instinctual part of concentration, like furrowing the brow. He's probably singing in his head with his playing & his mouth is moving along to it; alot of us musicians do.
@sirdelrio It is virtually impossible to play this waltz in one minute, well maybe not technically but musically the result will be a crazy mess. Actually I have never heard it played faster than around 1:30 (and still sounding good). A friend of mine has made a YT recording in 1:15, but it is made as a kind of joke I think.. :) . Music is not a sports game. It requires so much more..
@yonishalom100 the point of minute waltz is to play it under one minute. if you know chopin he liked to have his etudes play as fast as possible... same goes here
@Joshuaf1026 a great pianist can play this piece in 1:30 and still sound less rushed. it's not all about the speed. I think Mr Kissin failed on this one. it sounds to me like a man after a marathon run trying to catch his breath... I prefer Rubinstein or Barenboim's version...
Nice performance, it seams he's quite famous.... But I still wanted to say : "LOL!!!!!" what's with the facial expressions ?!! I know there are pianists who sing while playing, but this guy is just imitating a fish ^_^
no matter what you say, I believe, this is simply another great performance of evgeny kissin... he is either you like it or not the only living pianist with that many awards, and nobody can imitate him.
Pollini
Beautifully played!
He's hair style is fantastic and his finger is even more fantastic
He always reminds me of Eraserhead by Lynch
u have a great taste in movies
Bravo!!!! Piano in knock out! Winner is EEEEvgeny Kissssssssiiiiiiiiiinnnnn!
I agree👍He is miracle‼️

Katheryne
wow, a very emotional kissin! :)
I've never heard anything like it! This is spectacular!
OMG ! What a great smooth feel ! What piano technique!!
This is not the "min-it" waltz (as in time) but the my-nute waltz (as in little).
We know
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kissin is, to me, the best male pianist alive ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝💖🌹🌹🌹💖💖💖💖

Given that youtube wasn't around 200 years ago, how do we know that performers played it much faster?
bravo.
he played very well!
I love the ending!
either those 11 people misunderstood "dislike" for "dis i like" or hate really nice hair:)
Lol I just finished playing this and this makes me sound like I’m SUPER slow
SICK! His hair is sweet as well.
Too cute😍💕
Kissin is a beast!
I agree👍He is miracle🎶💐
this is how it should be played, the tempo is nice :D
probably he thought he must play it in one minute
Brillante!
Bravo!
Wonderful performance
The absolute bestest! lol
Amasing !!!! Wonderful !!!
gave me chills!
when he sits the music comes
I love this man!
Me too😍😍❤️❤️
12 years RUclips brought you back funny thing isnt it time I was 2 then and now I'm speaking to u
😂
how cute... waltz of the puppy...
That sway he does must be when he's channeling Chopin. lol
Meraviglioso 💖💖💖
Rockin the Afro
Who else’s teacher is making them watch this
No1 pure curiosity to me
i suddenly scared when he pushes the note f at the last Db maj gamut :) i was waiting a soft touch like all other pianists do :) it was a wonderful performannce!
The dynamics basically stays in a moderate tone but i like your interpretation
@TheTage Show he never does
Was this an encore? Lovely.

@Canonindxxx I agree, this is probably one of my favorite pieces and it definitely sounds rushed
Awesome name.. Kissin.
@Canonindxxx

uhhh~~~
i will watch la campanella videos instead...to give me some dose of goosebumps here~~

@Canonindxxx
True.
@Canonindxxx well, this piece of chopin was made to be played in a rush, not slowly. that's the reason :D
I've seen a lot of comments on tempo for this peice. My opinion is its a song about a small dog... the faster the tempo the smaller the dog, the more variable the tempo the more confused the dog.

Hallå alla åttor på Kunskapsskolan Gävle
😳😳
TERRIFIC!!! He is soooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooood! Cute too....lol
Can anyone please tell me why did he slow down at 3:54 - 3:55?
oh i mean 1:54 - 1:55
Well,that DID add EMOTION!!!!!!!!!!!
Will listen that is a musical idea And it adds emotion And makes this waltz Not just Chopin's waltz but Evgeny kissins waltz
minute was supposed to mean small, or delicate.
@Canonindxxx
Kissins Performances are normally my favorite and if I understand you right, you think he played too fast. I agree.
Shirty Shirt lmfao he played at the right tempo. Because in the song you are flying and each measure should actually naturally sound like 1 beat.
@sirdelrio

😊👏👏
@Canonindxxx the piece is suppose to be played quickly.!
cudownie
every pianist has something new in store. You're not Chopin to judge how this should be played.
FRESH!
@pianistas1981 the hair is a metaphor
@Canonindxxx it is not oddly rushed. don't worry.
Wow i didnt know Tom Hanks could play the piano..=)
his bow cracks me up
@Ianthe22 oh yeah well watch the Friedman one to the right. And there is a reason it's called minute waltz. 60 seconds man
@TheAaronPetit Yes. And? Why are you asking me to see the Friedman performance? Are you answering my comment?
I didn't know the guy from kid and play could play Chopin too!!
ag hahahaha haha
Why do think that you should tell us about it?
I wish i didnt hear that video, but heard the playing instead...
What happened at 1:55?
Yep. Rushed. Sans doute.
i have always believed that the title refers to a minute walze i.e. very small no reference to the speed or total time - such is the English language!
@Canonindxxx rushed?? i think he played this piece rather restrained.. just my oppinion.
He looks like Tom Hanks
YEP, ITS official, kssin is on some hard drugsss pass that shit braaaa
@IntercityAPT that's sounds like rubbish to me, its the minute waltz for gosh sakes!
its better faster. you can actually hear a dog trying to chase its tail faster and faster
It's too fast for a waltz, but it's within the speedzone Chopin indicated - get your facts right.
Listrn to Rachmaninoff. He is THE BEST!!!
I love Kissin…but this is to fast..for me..
Kissin is a musician not an acrobat or clown.
what the hell happened to his hair
What ?
He plays it beautifully but sounds a bit rushed.
It may be fast. But its to clear and well played to be "too fast"
Bad ending.... At the beginning I was impressed..
COOKING WITH DOG!!!
No harm in interpretations, shouldn't follow music rigidly.
@yonishalom100 Mr Kissin started at 0:13,and finished at 1:59...let me see,that's 1:46
Haha uh. I'm not sure whether to thumb up or down that.
O_o
...
tom hanks who plays chopin...XD
He’s as good as Lang Lang if you compare them both
#petitchien
at the begining you should have just got on with it
okay miss thing
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! afro man!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@yonishalom100 the point of minute waltz is to play it under one minute. if you know chopin he liked to have his etudes play as fast as possible... same goes here
If you don't like it and it is just not fitting your taste. Not cause it's a awful performance.
@Joshuaf1026
