Good to hear the different pedals. Don't listen to the negative comment below, it's just someone being a dick. It's one thing to not like a video and say so but another to be mean about it.
It's amazing. Favourite digital chorus by far. Still love my old MIJ CE-2. But I use the Gemini more often as the CE-2 is old, rare, and precious to me. The Gemini is a workhorse par excellence.
I would go play tonight But I haven't got chorus in my gear This man said "it's gruesome that tone should sound so bare" Oh, la-la-la la-laaa This charming chorus-man
@@pimentocheese618 Just a bit of fun. I grew up with that music. Love Johnny Marr's approach to the instrument, and still listen to my old Smiths albums from time to time. I saw Johnny play live with The The in 1989/1990. Someone should have hanged the sound guy - his guitar was waaay down in the mix. A crime! Dude looked cool AF tho.
I have the Strymon, the BOSS, and the TC. The Strymon Ola is the best. When you put it to 'ramp'/ vibe mode, it does magic stuff on your sustain even after you stop playing. The Strymon Ola has the most pronounced chorus. I'll never take it off my board. In fact, even if I record with the AXE FX III, I'll still have the Strymon Ola inline with a few other pedals, like the Freq-Out pedal. It's the best chorus I have ever owned.
Hey I just stumbled across your demo in my feed! I thought you did a fantastic job of showing us what each pedal did and in my opinion they all sounded great but that Stryman is something else. Too bad they're pedals are so damn expensive! I think I'm going to end up getting the boss Wazucraft because I thought that one sounded very good. So anyway I subscribed to your channel I smashed the like button and I shared it to a couple of my guitar-playing Buddies great job man!😊💯🎸
You spent a lot of time talking about the Source Audio sound, but didn't mention that the Corona does nearly the same thing in terms of the triple chorus and ability to customize and reasign buttons. I would prefer in depth discussion on 1 pedal or a comparison between 2 pedals so that they can receive more in-depth coverage. Appreciate the channel. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the demonstration of these four pedals. I personally like the JOHNNY MARR (when he played in THE SMITHS) "Heaven knows I'm miserable now" phrasing.
Thanks dude, I was looking for a new chorus since my Fender Bubbler left my board. I was torn between TC Corona, the Gemini and the Strymon. I am gonna go for the Gemini, it sounded the best to me, and it seems as well to have the best price to quality ratio.
Strymon 1st, then Source Audio 2nd, then Boss Waza 3rd, and Last was the Corona. All Sounded very nice though. I am a Huge Chorus Guy and have tried about 20 different Chorus Pedals and have owned more then a couple - too. Nice comparison.
@@michael_caz_nyc Brutal, that's sick, that chorus is really good. Boss is real good too, it just have so much hate from people, but in modulations they are very good. I actually use kemper and the modulation effects are pretty good, but the chorus is not as good as the tri avatar, but they sound good.
The Maxon ASC10 is another good one, especially in stereo. It's kinda made for stereo (the polarity is reversed on one output and ASC=Ambient Stereo Chorus so...y'know...I guess I'm stating the obvious..)
I would say the Corona is as good as any and infinitely programmable. With the X5 Plethora coming at $399 I would wait and get that vs 1 modulation pedal.
Today I was looking for demos today. And today I found this video in youtube and watched it today. I think that today I’m better informed about these pedals I was interested to find some info today. 😉 All fun aside, nice demo man.
TONE wise the gemini sounded amazing. Sounded very analog whereas the TC has a very digital sound to the tone. Certainly a time and place for each sound however. Strymon sounded good too. Personally I think Seth uses way too much speed in his modulation videos. Too much speed on modulation really takes away if you ask me, destroys the tone. I think about 1/2 the speed of what he uses would be better, but hey that's for my own taste and opinion. Notice on both the strymon and the gemini he starts off with low speed which sounds beautiful then cranks the speed and how it looses that gorgeous spaciousness and cool tone and decide for yourself
Well that is not a bad thing, you hear how the things sound in mono which is how a lot of people will use it. I have the opposite opinion, having a demo of a pedal in stereo is useless to me as I won't use it like that.
I have never liked the corona chorus, I consider it the worst chorus pedal I have had. Without a doubt, the source audio and the strymon sound better, followed by the Boss.
The thing with toneprint TC pedals is that you can setup , among other parameters , those basic modulation type (vibrato, chorus, flanger). With TonePrint editor. So on top off 4 knobs you can control 12 parameters and their output curves. Each knob can have 3 parameters. There is mix, high-cut filters, delay times, depth, delay time, feedback etc at your disposal. With the software you can "program" them however you want. It's pretty amazing. You can buy Vortex and have corona chorus type sound on it's tone-print "channel". Even TC staff confirmed those are basically the same pedals.
Good Demo, overall. On the Strymon Ola, the ramp/env knob only works when the switch is in the mode that activates it. The knob was turned, nothing was affected. I would recommend really spending time getting to know the Strymon unit before demoing. Also, to be fair, you should have demonstrated the Trichorus setting on the Corona. Those are my hopefully constructive criticisms of this demo. Otherwise, good presentation. I own the Strymon and the Corona. Both are good for different reasons. The Strymon is very clear and excellent. The Boss didn’t impress me. The Gemini sounds great, but the click switch is a dealbreaker for me, as I use chorus in quiet moments and do not want to hear a click. Also, please don’t sell the chorus effect short like you did at the end of the video, as that might discourage sales. I recommend putting your Chorus pedal back on your board and rediscover your love for it.
@@jacobbrown1690 Hi Jacob. I love TC pedals, and I also love my Shure GLX, but possibly due to the AD/DA convention, the toneprint function won't work. I don't know if this is a Shure thing, or the same with all digital radio systems.
Let's not forget that with the boss comes the price and the buffered bypass which both suck. I'm going for the Corona for the price. Chorus is chorus. Plus with tc electronics you get the tone prints. For $128 you can't beat it. If you want multiple effects you can get the dream scape by tc electronics for $168. Still cheaper than the others and really well built.
to clarify - chorus is created by vibrato added back to unaffected signal, there is no "delay" or phasing. You keep mentioning "warbly lines", but then keep saying "delay".... :P
pterantula all modulation effects save for tremolo, are delay based effects, all utilizing BBD chips, if they are analog. You are correct that chorus is a vibrato, mixed back in with the clean signal, but it is still delayed 10-50ms. Flangers and phasers have even shorter delay times closer to 5ms.
Why would you be so confident if what you are writing is just plain wrong? Chorus is delay with a short, modulated delay time. There is delay and there is phasing.
Thanks, but please just demo the pedals... Most people already know about chorus pedals anyway, otherwise they would not be here comparing these... Just demo the pedals and let them decide; if they want history or more info they will go read about them..

Super comparison - clearly stated for simpletons like me
and a 5 star presentation - tastefully done
Gemini sounds incredible/also probably the most versatile...
Good demo..
Simple and straight to the point without playing full songs and different uses of the pedal itself.
You should have use the Corona in “Tri-Chorus” mode. It sounds amazing.

The corona is not digtal, google say's its fully analog and so say's amazon... So who is right here...?😮
Corona has an analog dry thru meaning the dry signal is not digitally converted. But the effect is digital!
