The Mojomojo was my very first pedal of all and I've never taken it off my board. My second pedal was the Fulltone OCD going into the Mojomojo. Great combination!
Feist is an incredible guitar player. I love the way she writes riffs with space in between, so each lick can breathe and be enjoyed. The album "Metals" basically got me into playing guitar. Thanks Josh!
Thankyou for showing me the best delay pedal I ever owned (the nova delay). Dad gave it to me as a kid, and sold it to pay rent as an adult. Now I'm 30 getting back into playing and know how to get that old gear I lost. Thanks!
Fun & convenience fact: The old TC Stereo Chorus has 1 Mohm input impedance. So it handles the direct signal from a passive Fender Rhodes Mk1 superbly without muddying tone. Try this with a famous Boss CE-1 (stock) - no chance! * * Having said that, using a Roland Jazz Chorus 120 Combo, sporting the same Boss Chorus inside, is great for a Rhodes as it´s got those sensible inputs for passive instruments.
@JHSPedals Record Time!! I absolutely adore Feist! The Reminder is such a beautiful album. I don't think she puts a foot wrong throughout. Aside from the brilliant tracks you mention, "So Sorry" "Limit to Your Love" and "The Water" are just breathtakingly beautiful in their melancholy and depth. They hold treasured memories of dear friends now sadly gone. I saw Feist perform on the Metals tour in Manchester a few years back. She had the brilliant a capella female trio Mountain Man as her backing singers on that tour. It was a truly magical experience. The quality and integrity of performances of all the musicians, coupled with the fantastic sound engineering and work of the crew really hit home somewhere deep inside me. Incredibly inspirational and moving. Also, I'm a big fan of your playing, Josh. I can totally hear the influence of Cake (another of my favourite bands). And I really like and respect both your approach musically by playing to the song, and your open hearted appreciation of other pedal manufacturers. Keep up the great work 👍
I was at the same show. Here's something to kill your buzz - she was going to play The Water and Intuition and didn't. I presume because people talked all the way through the rest of the show...
Does any of yours, randomly switch the stereo field?. Kind of glitches only notice if your playing a sustained chord of something. My only annoyance about this pedal. On the latest firmware.
I have to chime in with the crowd. I'm really impressed that you are always raving about the competition, not just your own pedals. I guess you know full well that your pedals are all excellent too, right up there with the best, so it doesn't worry you to brag about the other brands. I only have on e of your pedals so far, an Angry Charlie v3, and I'm beyond happy with it. If I had to get rid of all my overdrive pedals except one, the Angry Charlie would easily be the keeper. It's amazing! That all said, this video inspired me to pick up a gently-used TC Electronic Nova delay, got a great deal on one, couldn't pass it up, just arrived today and it is an absolutely wonderful pedal. Thanks for suggesting that one! :-)
I have several JHS pedals, and they’re all great. Josh’s generous, positive attitude was one of the things that factored into my decision to buy my first one (PG14). The quality of that pedal convinced me to buy more.
Your love of all things Canadian inspires me to evangelize a bit for my favorite band of all time: The Tragically Hip. While the musicianship is great, the band was really a platform for their expressive, funny, poetic singer, Gordon Downie (who unfortunately passed away in 2017). In a 2021 performance at the Juno Awards, Feist stepped in to take on singing duties. I first heard Tragically Hip in 1992 when my local rock station was playing 2 of their songs (I actually won a free copy of that 1992 album, Fully Completely, from KSQY -- at that time based in Deadwood, SD), and then, tragically, never heard any of their songs again on U.S. radio. If you need a starting point, Fully Completely is a great album. The song Feist sang at the Junos is on the album In Violet Light. Thanks for these videos; they are informative and funny and just charming as all get out!
The mensch is at it again shouting out his competition! I like TC delays. I have both an Echobrain (best used for short delay) and a TC Nova on my board!
@@shanewright2772 for sure, you need to be cool with it being noisy though. I run it in front of my amp and the Nova in the loop so I just use it as a short delay, it is basically my reverb.

the whole smorgasbord line is gonna be the new de facto “entry level” pedal line, if they aren’t already. They have no business sounding as good as they do for the price, and they’re close to indestructible.
The only TC Electronic pedal I currently own is the Ditto. I'm looking into getting a Ditto DX4 soon. I'm enjoying looping. Paul Gilbert videos have peeked my interest in the Mojo Mojo. Josh has me wanting to look into a few more now!
Love that track. The piano bassline. Perfect. My underrated favourite is probably The Water. So broody. The footage of them recording it is incredible too with everyone in the room creating texture.
so much love and respect for Feist! Amazing singer, outstanding songwriter. Her guitar riffs are so bluesy somehow with the use of open tunings and the production of all of her records is just wow. She can be pop, alternative, folk, jazzy, anything but her unique voice always bring it home. One of the most underrated artist of the last 20 years. She should be 10 times bigger. The Reminder was my first but I also love Pleasure a lot too. Century with Jarvis Cocker is awesome
Thanks for the Feist recommendation.. New discovery for me. Have been listening to The Reminder every day now. Love it. The piano/synth/keys arrangements were a particularly nice surprise

Dreamscape John Petrucci Signature Multi-effects. Quite the mouthful. That's why we just call it the Sounds Good pedal. Chorus, flange, and vibrato all reside on the same knob, two of each effect dialed in and a voiced a little differently. The 2nd Flange, for example, is Petrucci's take on EVH's MXR Phase 90 and it sounds pretty spot on. VERY tweakable w Speed, Depth, and FX Level controls (the latter morphs its function depending on effect) along w Bright/Normal/Dark EQ switch. If you play a lot of single note runs and along with big, clean chords, you should check this stereo pedal out. Only $100 or so on Reverb. A lot of folks thought it was a guitar master in a box. It isn't. Just very, very useful.
I got a mojomojo demo at a cheap price, and never thought it was going to be a great pedal until bringing it home. It works with everything. Surprised how great it sounds on bass. Sometimes I like using it just as a cleaner boost without touching the gain.
I bought the rusty fuzz an honey pot as my first foray into fuzz. Absolutely love em! An so cheap! Great pedals. The rusty fuzz does the gated thing too with a boost in front or high output pickups.
Since I started playing bass in a band a few years ago, the Spectra Comp is my always on board, always on, always by my side, always pedal. This thing is great.
Same for me. All of my basses’ tone improved the minute I stomped down on it. More authoritative bottom end and having the different choices of compression through TonePrint is nice.

Question: do you have any opinions on Mooer Pedals at all? I've heard things about them (which in hindsight legal troubles in the music industry isn't anything new at all), but I'd love to hear an opinion from a man who knows a thing or two about effects pedals. I've been eyeing their multi-effects processors as an upgrade from my long-in-the-tooth Boss GT-100, and I guess a secondary question to someone like you is how you feel about floor-based processors that either do multiple pedals or an entire rig in one place?
Went to a pawn shop, and found the Rusty Fuzz and the mini Spark boost. But then I found a JHS Banana Boost... And the Rusty Banana combination was too good to not bring home! Ty Josh!
Great video as always, thank you. TC Pipeline Trem Pedal is, in my opinion, THE most underrated pedal in existence today! Super cheap second hand, sounds AMAZING, AND has Tap Tempo and TonePrint. It’s phenomenal. Don’t tell everyone, because I want to buy them all now cheap while I still can.
Man, I saw Feist in 2014 at Hillside Festival (Guelph, ON) perform in a supergroup called HYDRA - super good. Seeing her in person was shocking - she is very short. Love her music. I got more into Metals than The Reminder, especially The Bad In Each Other. Great video!
The TC pedal I own is the Rusty Fuzz - found it at a gear swap for 20 bucks. It's gritty and raspy and I like that. I'm with Josh on their clip-on tuners. Have Snarks, like TC's extra features and durability. Favorite potential TC pedals are the Mojomojo (also learned of it via Paul) , the Ditto, and the Brainwaves intrigues me for the clean chords.
@@9timesacharm The bass is actually what I like about it! My other overdrive (Fulltone FullDrive 2) loses all the bass in its tone. Although, I do play a strat with nothing but single coils. I could see the bass on the MojoMojo being too heavy if you use humbuckers.

I have always had trouble with their QC. I had 2 of the dual Flashback delays break, one onstage. I know of at least 6 guys that also has issues with their switches.
This is something I've heard from a local retailer who stopped selling them for a while, and a couple local pros that experienced gear failure. It's why I'm a bit hesitant.
I've had one of the HoFs switch break on me, too, but not on stage. I bought another and fixed the broken one. Now the new one is popping when I step on it. Not a really difficult repair, though, and I doubt it will break again. But yeah it shouldn't happen at all. Switches like that should last for a couple decades at least.
My favorite TC "pedal" is the G-Major 2 in the effects loop of the Boss ME-5 from 1988, with the Boss changing the presets in the TC via Midi. I got both pedals used for 200€, and it's a very versatile and great sounding combo. They can replace a whole pedalboard for the price of one boutique distortion. Attenzione: Get the older version of the G-Major 2, which has S/PDIF, so it can be used with a DAW as well. The G-Major 2 has a routing option named "serial2", which puts any of the modulation sounds in the feedback path of the delay, which makes it almost as versatile as the Flashback with the toneprint editor.

Finally! Some Rusty Recognition! I knew that fuzz was special. I love putting the fuzz knob on zero and the tone knob at 100%. Very dynamic and sensitive to touch. Still a bit dark which is nice. Seems like the tone knob is more prominent in relationship to the fuzz level. Love the build too! I can totally tweak the knobs with my fat toe😅!
I bought so many of TC's pedal during Black Friday. I like the build quality. I wish they had an envelope filter pedal.
I love Tc electronic. I used to have a T2 reverb and an Alter Ego x4 and they were my favorite pedals I have ever owned. I miss my old rig. I had the mojomojo on there as well and I love using it at low gain settings. Unfortunately i lost all my gear/every belonging I've ever had after moving back home across the country to get my life together, but hey, I chose life over materials so I cant complain, and I'm slowly but surely building a new rig and doing much better in the life department. Lol.
orry fishburne you cant have anything if your dead. Or if your life is out of order you can’t Appreciate anything or best case scenario being you can’t fully enjoy or get maximum enjoyment out of anything if your life is Fed up. Good choice leaving everything and waking up and waking life. Have a great life. You made one great choice that day. Make more of them.
I have the Mojomojo, and let me tell you it is fantastic. If you are looking for a versatile drive pedal that can pull off a light drive to a heavier distortion (and everything in between) this pedal is a great choice. Cheap too!
Josh, I'm so glad you mentioned the Rusty Fuzz (and first!). It could easily be, for some players, the only fuzz they need.
Don’t listen to this man, rusty fuzz sucks
Thankyou for showing me the best delay pedal I ever owned (the nova delay). Dad gave it to me as a kid, and sold it to pay rent as an adult. Now I'm 30 getting back into playing and know how to get that old gear I lost. Thanks!
Fun & convenience fact: The old TC Stereo Chorus has 1 Mohm input impedance.
So it handles the direct signal from a passive Fender Rhodes Mk1 superbly without muddying tone.
Try this with a famous Boss CE-1 (stock) - no chance! *
* Having said that, using a Roland Jazz Chorus 120 Combo, sporting the same Boss Chorus inside, is great for a Rhodes as it´s got those sensible inputs for passive instruments.
The TC Mimiq multi tracker is hella underrated. Huge sounds. Shines when pushing 2 amps.
Awesome with guitar, great with tracking synths too or anything that turns midi into audio, its like an easier double tracker/widener.
@@AzathothsAlarmClock I think playing with headphones it would still be mono... unless you use a TRS splitter... is that how you do it?
Does any of yours, randomly switch the stereo field?. Kind of glitches only notice if your playing a sustained chord of something. My only annoyance about this pedal. On the latest firmware.
@@SethTaylor1 I haven't upgraded the firmware yet, is there any benefit to upgrading it?
@@GIGeorge23 no idea I was just trying to fix that issue but haven't noticed anything different. There's no change log
The Nova Delay was the first pedal I bought, and I've never put together a board without it.
I’m really looking into buying a JHS pedal because of your attitude about your competitors. Keep up the good work man
I have several JHS pedals, and they’re all great. Josh’s generous, positive attitude was one of the things that factored into my decision to buy my first one (PG14). The quality of that pedal convinced me to buy more.
The MojoMojo!! So good to see it finally :D Love that pedal, been using it for years
Your love of all things Canadian inspires me to evangelize a bit for my favorite band of all time: The Tragically Hip.
I'm lusting after the Nova right now. All the options I'm looking for.
Qhats the nova do?
Short delay is great and all, but I like the Echobrain for the mental talky squawks you get at the other end of the scale...
@@maxonmendel5757 just about any delay you want. 20 Presets, fully customizable, 9 saved user presets. A delay workstation.
@@shanewright2772 for sure, you need to be cool with it being noisy though. I run it in front of my amp and the Nova in the loop so I just use it as a short delay, it is basically my reverb.
I've watched so many JHS videos during the quarantine. So much good stuff here. The appreciation of other companies, and I've definitely added some of the "Record Time" music to my personal playlists. My next pedal is gonna be a JHS. Now to decide which one haha.
MOJOMOJO has really incredible dynamic range. Perfect pedal.
Love that Feist record! Afie Jurvanen from Bahamas plays guitar on that record, no wonder those tones are so rad.
the whole smorgasbord line is gonna be the new de facto “entry level” pedal line, if they aren’t already. They have no business sounding as good as they do for the price, and they’re close to indestructible.
I like the way you seem to be excited about each pedal you talk about.
"You can turn it on and off" killed me.
I saw Feist live with Bright Eyes in Philadelphia In an opera hall. Her and Conor did Mushaboom together. It was one of the best days of my life!
The Limit To Your Love is my personal favorite from that album, good choice for record time.
The only TC Electronic pedal I currently own is the Ditto. I'm looking into getting a Ditto DX4 soon. I'm enjoying looping. Paul Gilbert videos have peeked my interest in the Mojo Mojo. Josh has me wanting to look into a few more now!
Honourable mention for "My Moon My Man", which, along with being a great song, features one of my all-time favourite guitar sounds
Love that track. The piano bassline. Perfect. My underrated favourite is probably The Water. So broody. The footage of them recording it is incredible too with everyone in the room creating texture.
The flashback is my favourite. Hitting the strings for tap tempo was game changer for me as it's accurate and keeps the pedal small. Love it!
I can't think of any pedal from TC Electronics that I haven't though "how can they do all this for this price?" They're all pretty much great.
so much love and respect for Feist!
Alter Ego V2 - my favourite delay.
Alter Ego X4 and Flashback Triple delay my fav TC delays.
Thanks for the Feist recommendation.. New discovery for me. Have been listening to The Reminder every day now. Love it. The piano/synth/keys arrangements were a particularly nice surprise
I really love my TC Viscous Vibe, but you can't argue with any of these choices! Great video, as always... Great album from Feist as well. :)
Thinking of getting that pedal, seems good value.
@@mickgreenwood7158 i have it also ... its great!
@@mickgreenwood7158 If you don't plan on using it in stereo, you might be disappointed. There are a lot of haters on it because it isn't an exact replication of an original UniVibe. It's more. If you dig stereo chorus, you'll probably like the Viscous. I do.
@@TheRealcdawg22 Cheers. I'll give it a go I think.
+1 on the stereo... that was one of the reasons I got it. It’s nice and thick, especially in stereo. You can input other people’s presets but I haven’t done that yet. I’m very happy with it. 🎶❤️🎵
So glad you gave Feist some lovin. That was an awesome album
I dont know why you havent made a full episode on RATs yet. Clones, different versions, mods, etc etc.
I don't know why you realize why not.
Iron horse!!!!
trex mud honey is the best version of a refined rat. end of topic.
I think the jhs 3 series distortion is the best rat clone, it kicked my Proco rat 2 off my board
So glad to see a devoted TC Electronic vid from JHS! I love their pedals, but I don't really see them getting talked about online as much as I'd expect to.
Also happy to see the Mojo Mojo in this video! I recently picked one up, and man is it impressive. It keeps that low end, and sounds almost exactly like my Vox AC15 with its tubes cranked!
I'd say that my favorite pedal from them is the june-60. It's a a chorus circuit from a Juno synthesiser
Sadly it s not the same at all.
All these videos are informative, well made, have great sounds, etc.
Its no secret Josh rarely promotes his own products and humble AF.
At this point, id love to watch/hear a vid of say, 10 pedals....That SUCK.
Im being silly here but y'all know what im talking about
My Edit- consists of this...just wanted to say im 50 and just learning to play. Once i can learn a lick i hope to have a JHS pedal or two or 10
You can't inflate the pedal price if they're still made in mass quantities!
That’s a big lol, look at the behringer sf300
@@Morningstar_Actual yeah but the smorgasbord series is in every guitar center ever
you'd think so but actually no
You would certainly think so... but people will always surprise you
True, although it's funny how sometimes you can find some used stuff being offered at current retail prices, or even higher.
Watching Josh talk about other pedals makes me want to buy more JHS stuff. I can genuinely support someone like him. Such a cool guy.
TC vintage pedals like the chorus and preamp booster/line driver were amazing. Please give them some love.
A man of his word with passion here. Neglects own brand when it comes to what he truly cares about. That blows me away today. Thank you. Making a living NOT a killing.
Your channel is definitely helping me in looking for the right pedals. Thank you so much for your research, passion, demos and helpful commentary.
The 'Nova' line is criminally underrated.
I got a mojomojo demo at a cheap price, and never thought it was going to be a great pedal until bringing it home. It works with everything. Surprised how great it sounds on bass. Sometimes I like using it just as a cleaner boost without touching the gain.
The spark mini is insanity, it gets so loud and stays crystal clear, a keeley katana for like a quarter of the money
Man, you deserve all the love you get! Its so refreshing to see someone being so positive even to competitors!
Guitar Pedal: exists
Josh: this is the best pedal ever
Thank you, Josh! You make me to love pedals even more.
I am glad you repeatedly mentioned the behringer line of tc pedals! I have the Cinders, and it is an always on for me
Honey Pot Fuzz. Best fuzz I have, and it was like 25€
I bought the rusty fuzz an honey pot as my first foray into fuzz. Absolutely love em! An so cheap! Great pedals. The rusty fuzz does the gated thing too with a boost in front or high output pickups.
The TC Chorus+ and Booster+ are 2 of my favourite pedals ever.. top notch!
Nova delay is my favorite pedal ever. Of all time.
Emmanuel Alejandro It’s close to the top for me
I love the tc electronic Cinders overdrive. Makes such a lovely distorted sound with a very big amount of gain.
man, the Nova Delay. That was my main delay for the first 6 years of playing as a proper professional. Definitely underrated.
does that pedal age well? would you have concerns for someone buying used today?
@@Missile_Command i would say it has definitely aged well and they are built like tanks.
Missile Command Have had none for about 10 years. Still works perfectly. Love it.
It is now 2024.I was looking for a secondary Analog delay pedal. I purchased the Gauss Tape echo. It is the main one now. It it fabulous & the delay time is crazy. Great pedal. I want more from TC Electronics. Thnamelsee e one I originally purchased made by a guitar brand ( nameless in this post), I could've bought 2 pedals from TC for the price I paid for the first one.
Josh, if you love everything from Canada, do I see a "Who is Robert Godin" episode in the future???
But no mention of Rush and Neil Peart :(
also do an episode on Poulin Amp sims, cuz they are awesome and free
Godins into Traynors.
YBA1 > Plexi or Bassman, fite meah
@@kampfkustomer2343 You aren't supposed to talk about how good the YBA/YGLs are, you'll drive the price up.
@@gibgezr I'm surprised no one clones them and passes them off as their own work.
I'm in Quilterland right now with a TB200 so I'm sated, but man that '72 was just so good. On guitar and bass.
Just wasn't loud & clean enough for full time bass duty...kicking myself for selling it all the same.
I mean...pffft old small box rental amps from Cuckada? Pffft get a *real* Marshall, pleb!
😉
HellYes!! it’s an incredible record... the limit of your love is one of my favorites songs.
Another one for her album Metals - Undiscovered First.
With a very particular atmosphere .
Big hugs from México.
Josh & Nick, Keep doing those wonderful vids.
Ty Josh!
The Spark booster and Spark mini booster should be on this list. They're two of the best pedals available at any price.
Agreed! Incredible pedals for the money.
Well said.
T.c are amazing.....my favourite pedal company......jhs pedals should do a smorgasbord run of pedals.....then I could afford jhs pedals.😂
ditto
I have great news for you

Man, I saw Feist in 2014 at Hillside Festival (Guelph, ON) perform in a supergroup called HYDRA - super good.
Seeing her in person was shocking - she is very short. Love her music. I got more into Metals than The Reminder, especially The Bad In Each Other.
Great video!
Dark Matter FTW!
I have TC’s Polytune pedal and clip on tuners, as well as the first Hall of Fame reverb, and they are FANTASTIC. Great video as always!
I was just thinking about getting another Tc electornics pedal while watching another one of your videos... you read my mind
I had the MojoMojo and as much as I tried, I couldn't get into it. The Dark Matter is what I hoped the Mojo would be.
I like the Mojomojo as a boost. It pushes mids really well into an OD channel on an amp and makes them really nice and punchy.
I love the Dark Matter, my go-to overdrive/dirt
I have the MojoMojo, is it me or is there way too much bass in that pedal?
i Ihave the mojomojo which I use for single coil guitars to beef them up,but for humbuckers I use the dark matter which is an amazing pedal.
@@9timesacharm
The bass is actually what I like about it! My other overdrive (Fulltone FullDrive 2) loses all the bass in its tone.
Although, I do play a strat with nothing but single coils. I could see the bass on the MojoMojo being too heavy if you use humbuckers.
The reason you're at the pinnacle of success is that you don't consider competitors as competitors. You call a spade a spade. IF IT'S GOOD, IT'S GOOD! NO MATTER WHAT BRAND. This shows your amazing perspective towards life. People like you are always supported by the Divine Power. Appreciating other companies' products with all your heart is something that perhaps only JHS does on the planet! Kudozzzz!!♥♥♥
What is your shoe size ? Are you jumping on it like a gorilla ? This would be the Monty Python version of a warranty claim form.🤣🤣🤣
I love TC pedals, I have the MojoMojo, the El Mocambi & the Flashback mini on my board.
Feist's Let It Die from the early 2000s is one of the best records ever. Beautiful melancholy in audible art form.
