Nice review, especially comparing the switch popping and background noise. All the pedal reviews should add it!
Agreed. Really vital, especially as you might be using chorus during a quiet section of a song !
Absolutely! Great job!
Agreed. I have some mooer pedals and they pop so loud when pressing the switch
It's great to hear the background noise comparison, very nice review!
FINALLY!!! A youtuber who considers noise an issue. THANK YOU!!!
The Walrus Audio sounds incredible but I love the EQ abilities on the MXR Stereo Chorus!
Thanks Mike, nice comparison. You should have given the mooer a little more time. Its not a digital imitation as you said. It is a real analog chorus just like the mxr analog chorus. 9mA current draw. Digital pedals draw anywhere between 100 and 300mA or more. You wrote it off too quickly. Mooer = True bypass, analog, no noise or hiss, doesn't boost-just comes on in a subtle fashion not changing the eq of the guitar, doesnt get brittle so no need for tone controls or fix its, level control allows very usable subtle chorus sounds for pros, least expensive, smallest......It kills them ALL in EVERY category except soft switch. I`m glad somebody still uses their brain. 60 bucks. I`m all over it. One of these days company's will start listening to musicians and just start making ALL their pedals true bypass with soft switches. When the distortion comes on everything changes and magnifies the weaknesses in pedals. I am not a chorus fan because most chorus pedals went digital and change the entire sound of your guitar, usually brittle high end not to mention brittle buffers and boosts that you are stuck with. Awful !!
Based on your review, I purchased the MXR Stereo Chorus. It sounds like a dream!
Thank you Miike!
It's my favourite chorus! :-)
It's sounds the most high-fidelity one here to me.
Now that's how a pedal review should be presented....BOSS is still king when it comes to Chorus.
@Iain Sinfield That's a sin
You sound like you own a BOSS Chorus
@@olgoat6460 actually no I don't own any modulation pedals,I find they change your tone, plus you can trip over them and hurt yourself ...lol
@@perrysar5954 duh
@@olgoat6460 sounds like you already tripped over your pedal and hit your head!
What a fascinating comparison. I came in pre-biased thinking the old MXR Stereo Chorus would be the winner but quickly ended up loving the Julia and Stonefish. The flattest to me was Mooer but once it was cranked up more it came alive. The MXR Stereo Chorus seemed to have a tinny, flanged area that it rested on in part of the phasing between cycles that I didn't like as much but that could also be that it wasn't in stereo mode. All in all it was very eye opening, thank you!
I bought a Boss CE2w a few months ago. It’s the best chorus I’ve owned. My last chorus was the Micro Chorus, simple one knob but it sounds fantastic, for the price and tone, the micro chorus is probably the best bang for buck if you just need a good quality straight up analog chorus sound.
Nice comparison, thanks
I'll stick with my blue MXR without any hesitation
Dude does not understand to tone switches on MXR ac. At full right they do not affect tone at all. As the knobs are turned to the left they diminish either the lows or the highs. He never let the full sound through.
1 - J U L I A ! ! !
2 - Waza !
Absolutely agree,
Agreed 100%
I agree, but wouldn’t swap either of them for my Ibanez cs9 chorus
One issue I found is that when the knob d-c-v on Julia is set up it's equivalent to level on high on the others pedal, so the initial settings were some messed up!
Julia is the coolest. MXR Analog is my second choice here. Great comparison by the way.
MXR analogue then Julia both really nice sounding chorus pedals the boss is nice too
Chorus pedals shouldnt be yellow
They should always be blue imo
I agree. But those two can get away with it bc they’re great 🤷🏼♂️ lol
@@yobhsiFehT lol true.
Only bananas look good as being yellow
Two months ago I thought the same thing but now I see it's not a bad color for the effect, although blue is way more appropriate
thanks for the review. this was really clarifying to me: boss and analog mxr are my favorites.
This is an awesome comparison. No unnecessary talking!! Still can’t decide whether to trade my CE-2w for a Julia or not…
Thanks for taking the time to do this - it's a super helpful video.
I thought the CE-2W Waza Craft was the most unique. At times it sounded more like a flanger and at other times like the slow setting of a rotary speaker simulator. Very nice, but not a chorus sound to my ears. And I actually liked the fattening quality of the Stonefish, but I can totally see how it would not be welcome if you want your original tone unchanged.
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks!
I don’t understand what you mean by not a chorus? Do you mean that it doesn’t do chorus sounds or that sometimes doesn’t sound like a chorus?
@@mathieublackburn6609 Well....that was a year ago. But as I recall it just seemed like it could do more than just chorus.
@@robertstapleton3598 ok then yeah haha I guess you’re right. I thought you were saying it didn’t sound like a chorus). Also yeah sorry I didn’t noticed the comment was old like that haha
CE2w has 3 modes. In the CE2 mode it gives classic chorus sounds. In the CE1 mode it has a bit of a flanger edge to it and in the CE1 Vibrato mode, it becomes a rotary pedal.
I think you did a great job comparing.
If I had the time (and I don’t), i think ALL pedal reviews would be 1000% better, if the reviewer:
A. Played chords and single notes
B. Played a Marshall a Fender and a VOX
C. Played clean and dirty.
The truth about pedals is technique, amp, single coils vs humbuckers makes a whole lotta difference
I agree. I absolutely fucking hate it when they set a loop and turn knobs. Stop making loops, they sound awful with pedals and get repetitive very quickly. A good pedal review does exactly what you said and plays through the pedals as any normal person would. Nobody buys a brand new pedal and hooks up a compressed digital loop to them to test how they sound. Give it some life and breath not a soulless loop! Sorry for the rant but I have never seen a good pedal review involving a loop pedal. Always constant knob turning with no explanation.
Great review! I like how you tested the background noise and how much noise the switches made! I like that the MXR Stereo Chorus pedal is yellow. To me it is a good looking pedal.
And it does sound great!
Right but chorus is supposed to be blue.
Great video though I havent had yet the pleasure of using the Julia and MXR Stereo Choruses, though peronally for what I have used, I still have alot of fun every single time I play yhe MXR Analog Chrous! Super easy to control and I love the High/Low frequency controls (if thats what it is referred as) I just find it very natural, full and lush though the Julia appears to share alot of similarities with it!
MXR Analog Chorus is also probably one of the most inexpensive aswell!✌🎸
Good review! Your click/noise test at the beginning is brilliant and should be required in all pedal reviews.
Can you tell me what kind of patch cables you are running? I really like the flat profile of the connectors.
Hi from 2022! Just found this video and it is the best chorus comparison video I've seen on RUclips. Good variety and very good explanation of each. I'm looking for a good chorus pedal right now, and I have the opportunity of buying either the Julia or the Mxr stereo chorus for 100 bucks. I like both, but I think I'm going to get the MXR stereo, sounds a little more "solid" as an effect imo. I totally agree with you on that the Julia enhances your tone, but it is a darker chorus effect.
It's good to hear the switch noise comparison. I demoed the Julia today and it sounds fantastic, but...that switch is a killer, especially when it's going to be going through reverb and delay and then blasted through my amps. It's put me on the fence between it and the CE-2W.
I think the V2 had a noiseless switch
Thanks for this great demo, Used to Boss Pedals but looking at different brands for each type of effect and from this shootout I really like the Walrus Julia
Nice comparison again Mike! While I find it difficult to choose a definite favourite out of these, I want to say I was very pleasantly surprised by that Julia pedal.
some things i dont believe got mentioned were that the big MXR Stereo Chorus is 18 Volt and the Boss Chorus is a Buffered pedal it works great in a line of pedals or a Buffered effects loop like Mesa Boogie because it will bring back some of the highs it does not even have to be on to do so
I love the WAZA! you get a kind of flanger sound out of it that I love!! it nails all those classic sounds from the 80s!! Queen, Johnny Marr, Police etc. I use to have the micro chorus but sold it! you find it bugs you over time with its limits!! I also own a classic Guyatone chorus which sounds lovely! BUT sadly it has an annoying miss in the background that stopped me from using it on stage!! now if I was to choose a chorus from this video that I don't own, I would grab one of the MXR pedals, probably the blue one
The boss has the most lush and rich chorus, but the mxr micro chorus has a very satisfying mid hump that makes it stand out.
shiron b the Julia can get really push with the lag knob all the way up and the depth higher
Very helpful! I wonder how are these compared with a Tc electronic SCF and a 3rd dimension?
The top 3 for me are:
Julia
Boss CE-2W
MXR Stereo Chorus!!
Good video!!
I like the MXR Micro, no surplus knobs to fiddle with.
Absolutely, you can operate it with the foot and the depth is adapted automatically.
It is true it boosts the signal and you need to be careful with input level.
However it really sounds different from the Boss. (I'd say MicroChorus is more like EnterSandMan chorus.) Also the micro chorus, I think, has a nice sinus LFO, whereas the blue MXR seemed to have a triangular LFO which bothered me.
The MRX stereo is more specialised for stereo but I keep changing all the settings. As soon as you change one knob you need to change the others.
I should check the Boss Dimension C and the CH1.
I have the MXR Micro Chorus and it boosts the signal big time. i just purchased the Analog Chorus today and looking forward to trying it out. To me in this demo the Boss sounds the absolute best.
How was the analog chorus?
@@Ratchman_5000 Perfect. Very happy with it.
I wish Julia was a stereo pedal. It would probably be my favorite if it was. I wish the EHX Small Clone was in the line up just so I could hear it compared to the others.
Lucky for you, the Juliana is here haha. (I won’t change my Ce-2w tho)
@@mathieublackburn6609 Yup! Just ordered a Julianna, very excited! I found that the Boss and the Julia stood out in this video btw. The boss colors the sound more while the Julia is more transparent. Up to a player which is better, though I personally think the Julia sounds more modern 🌊
CE-2 all day
Did a session recently and the group I was recording for loved the sound I was getting with the Micro Chorus, definitely a fantastic under the radar unit
MXR Micro does have problems but the sound is more flange-like than the others which is cool. the stone Fish does change the sound but I like the mellowing effect when it does. i do use a slower rate than the Boss allows. Would be curious to hear more fiddling with the Julia's "Lag" control. My first pick for sound might be the MXR Stereo but the pedal board issue steers me toward the Julia or MXR Analog. Great video!
This is an absolutely incredible video. Can't thank you enough for doing this. From what I heard, the Boss definitely sounds like the 80s - the chorus tone I hear in my head. However, I can see it being too much for anything else other than those 80's Queensryche-esque or Dokken-esque tones. I was drawn to the the MXR Analog Chorus and the MXR Stereo Chorus for that reason, even though in your clip here, the best tone came from the Boss in my opinion. Comparing the Stereo Chorus and the Analog chorus, the blue Analog Chorus sounded a bit...muddy? I know you mentioned the Stereo chorus sounded darker to your ears but I heard the opposite. Whereas the Stereo chorus sounded like it had a bit more of a clear sound, albeit also a bit thicker. Not sure if that's due to the 9v vs 18v difference, or because the Analog only cuts lows/highs while the Stereo adds them...? Not sure. I would be interested to hear a similar test like the one done here between the Boss and the MXR Analog and Stereo choruses with a dirty overdriven tone. I think how they perform in that condition would be equally important - especially for someone like me who never plays clean, rather, turns down the volume to a gritty Marshall clean as needed and otherwise uses chorus as an always-on feature to subtly thicken up a dirty rhythm tone or add body to leads. Thanks again!
great video , i love that Julia ,i got a gold color v2 last week and i think its safe to say its become my favorite pedal i own haha
would have liked to hear the Corona and an ibanez in there, just for comparison as these are the most sold on the market
i agree!
Very good explanation of the pedals. Thank you
Low cost of pedals , sound , plays super...feels.good.....warmth own minds.
Great review, especially with the rare coverage of both physical and electrical noise, but what a pity there was no stereo for those pedals, as the subtle complexity and stereo width of some chorus pedals is key to so many classic recordings.
Stereo Chorus wins IMO. Waza CE-1 is great too.
🐮 Mooer sounds bloody good! 🐄
What a difficult decision, in the end I choose the MXR Stereo Chorus. I like the darker sound better, I like the new chorus sounds but I don't feel like I will use them too much, they are too watery and bright, plus the stereo function and its EQ function for the wet signal with the bass filter for the chorus , I think it is a very useful chorus, at least for me. Thank you very much for the video, it helped me a lot in making this decision.
I have owned an original Boss CE-2 and I currently own the MXR Stereo Chorus and the MXR Micro Chorus among others that are not in this review. But, although you dismissed the Micro Chorus because of noise I have never had this issue and due to it’s simplicity and great sound it is one of my favorites as I do not have to tweak it endlessly.
It's a pity I like everything about the blue mxr (price, features, size, switch, look) except the way it sounds
Wow that MXR Analog Chorus is so transparent. No color at all. Which is good to know
But that CE-2w has the nicest color to it. Julia is pretty cool too
Definitely prefer the sound of the Micro Chorus, but that slight volume bump is a little weird
Mxr analog.. best chorus, and least noise
Nice Comparison. I Love Chorus. In this Video the Boss Waza and the Julia were the Best Sounding. MXR Micro Sounded good (huge volume bump when engaged) = dealbreaker for me. MXR analog chorus (very weak). I also Love the: Analogman Bi-Chorus, The Tortuga Martini, The Boss Waza Dimension C, and #1 The Free the Tone Tri-Avatar (is what Im using = phenomenal) also the Shiva Little Wave for that 80's Rack Chorus.
Empress red witch
This comparison video rules. Thank you!❤️
Great comparison. I was hoping you would turn them all on at the same time though.
CE-2 still rules. Wish they didn't cost so much or I'd replace my CH-1 in a second.
Julia
MXR hands down for that beautiful subtle chorus
Mooer sounds best imo. Sounds natural. And does not effect eq. Adds nice chorus effect and nothing else. The blue MXR is ok but a bit dull. Great comparison!
A very systematic approach! Congratulations!
The Mooer and the Mxr will sound more like the Boss CE2 if you max the effect level
I run the MXR Stereo into a Hall Fame 2 in stereo then out to two amps. It will make you smile.
One man's listen. One man's show....all are good.kept....
Look away for a moment and then it becomes a game of "find the chorus pedal"
Mooer does a good job without being invasive; CE-2 has his own character, very recognizable, MXR analog is very very good too.
sdrghr I agree, the CE2W sounds great and unique
Yeah I have that little guy (Mooer) in my rig, and I'm happy with it. 😊⭐🎸🤘
The MXR Micro might have the most noise and noisy switch but it seems to sound the nicest.
I finally figured out how to true bypass the mxr m234 (modern surface mount version). It's not at all easy like a normal true bypass mod. I love buffered bypass pedals when they are done right. But the mxr always sucked tone even in bypass, it no longer sucks tone at all as a true bypass pedal. I've also owned the stonefish (shortest amount of time I've had any pedal ever). I noticed the same issue of it changing the tone in a way that made everything sound too full/dark(sounded bad with extended range guitars and humbuckers, only liked it with singles). If there was a better way to dial that syranfe eq effect out into a more typical chorus tone i would have liked the stonefish much better. I've been building pedals for years and ive been through a lot of chorus pedals. At this point I think I'm just going to build a ce2 clone with buffered and true bypass options and a vibrato (kill dry) type mode. The mxr isn't bad (once you fix the buffer sucking tone by true bypassing and I'm only the 2nd person I know of whos ever pulled off true bypassing it) but the boss is still superior. The high and low cut knobs are just that btw, cuts. They don't boost, they are completly passive controls that only take away highs or lows respectively. The reason the m234 is such a pain to true bypass is that your working around tiny and packages and the slightest slip of the iron can and will remove a cap or resistor etc. and putting them back without a rework station is a p.i.t.a. And the 3pdt switch won't fit until you still a new hole over the lettering below the stock dpdt switch hole. You don't need a 4pdt like everyone says cause the led operates on Millineum Bypass so it still functions normally after the mod. I also didn't have any pop at first but I went back in to hot glue the new wires on the cob for tension relief and the coupling capacitor that went from input hot to ground lifted from the hot glue heat and I don't have any spare 10uf caps (other than electrolytics) right now but as long as you don't make that mistake there won't be switch pop. Also they use shitty lead free solder on the board to be rohs compliant probably so removing the input and output jacks long enough to clip the tip leg and reinstall is a nightmare. Once I finally figured out where main input and output, pcb in an pcb out, fx signal and signal ground were all located then knowing what needed to go where was the easy part (and compared to most true bypass mods that part was actually a pain on the was as well). But now it functions as before but will still pass signal with no power and doesn't suck highs/level when in bypass. If anyone is interested in doing this mod just message me and I'll get you the link to the info that finally made it possible for me to figure it out(do not attempt unless your good with a soldering iron and you have a good variable temp solder station with a solder pump and desoldering braid plus knowledge of how to trace pcb's in case you need to trouble shoot). I had to troubleshoot cause the ribbon wore at the top of the pedal is very flimsy and thin and two of its wore separated from the board after I had been working on the underside of the PCB which meant bending the ribbon back and forth a few times. It wasn't a difficult fix but again it was a pain in the ass. And a perfe t example why I don't like SMD pedals. Builders want you to believe they are just as good which is bullshit. Even with a good rework station modding and repairing SMD pedals is much more time consuming and difficult than through hole pedals/boards. Plus the smaller SMD components are delicate and no where near as durable as through hole components. Plus I just like the feel of being able to hold each through hole components on my hand and easily trace the path of pcb's by following the components which again is possible with SMD but takes so much more concentration. SMD boards are just another way that manufacturers can save a buck and take the control of modding/fixing the device away from the consumer. I have every intention of continuing to work on SMD pedals and get better at working with SMD components but I'll always choose through hole over SMD whenever possible.
Omg!!!
found out recently that the micro chorus actually is quieter in front of the amp.. its a weird thing, but dont put it in the effect loop and its just brilliant
My micro chorus sounds fine in the effects loop as well.
Very good review. My favs are 1-Boss ce2w, 2-MXR M134, 3-Walrus Audio.
That Julia sounds nice
Boss CE-2w and analog mxr chorus wins those are pure real chorus , the Julia really is not a true chorus , nice fancy pedal but it doesn’t cut well and it’s too expensive 200$ for that not good, I bought it and I gave it but besides it didn’t sound like pure chrorus at all , you should it add the Ibanez chorus that one beats all of them together ❤️, good video
Great comparison, your clean ambient playing is also vary similar to mine which helps. I've always wanted the famed mxr analog chorus and after this I still do but I really liked the boss, stereo chorus, and the Julia. I'd be happy with any of them. Currently the only cheap pedal I own is my Nux chorus which is probably a boss copy but it gets the job done. Actually I also have another less expensive pedal a Moore triangle buff fuzz pedal which was about $55 so it's the next cheapest pedal on my board but it sounds great. The triangle buff which is a real (not simulated) copy of the triangle muff really surprised me. It sounds great and I definently recommend it if you need a fuzz on a budget. I get way better tones out of it than any video I've seen on RUclips and it's way more versatile than I thought it would be. The only cons being, since it's a micro pedal which is great if like me you have a ton of pedals and always have to leave some out or daisy chain multiple pedals in one hub of your power brick but since it's a micro pedal the tone an volume are PCB mounted. Although it's very common with that type of pedal it's still a con but the rest of the pedal is very solid in an all metal enclosure. The only other con is the volume, there is plenty volume with on tap but the volume has to be about 3/4 or a little less for unity volume but like I said there is plenty volume if you want it. And I should also mention the triangle muff it is copying also has the same volume dynamic although slightly less pronounced. But even with those two caveats the Mooer Triangle Buff is certainly worth $40-$60. I had planned on using it temporarily until I could afford to spend money for a real triangle muff or an op amp reissue muff (I like both but the triangle is my favorite) but after using it awhile I've decided my money would best be spent on other things as the triangle buff with or without a boost from a ts9 tube screamer gets my all the fuzz tones I really need. I can also use my proco rat 2 if I want a little more mid heavy fuzz tone. But I should mention that the triangle muffs have less mids which is a huge part of their tonal identity so if you need them to fit into a mix an cut better boosting it with a mids heavy pedal like the TS9 tube screamer works incredibly. It adds in mids but doesnt really change the origional tone, just gives it more ability to be heard in the mix.
I must be a weirdo, but the micro chorus was my favorite.
I have one, it's become one of my go-tos as of late. It's hard to get an unpleasant sound out of it
One knob is ENOUGH
MXR Stereo and Walrus Julia all day!
This is an amazing and thorough comparison, btw. Thank you for doing this!
Which chorus are you using now or did you decide on? I have owned these in the video and Mobius, a few others and realize the best analog chorus pedal is Tech 21 Boost Chorus! Great tone options / knob, width, no noise, warm and can boost your signal when you running overdrive in front of it if you want. Finally done with my 6 month search of 10 plus chorus pedals!!
Hey, love what you are doing here. I prefer the MXR Stereo Chorus, it is true Stereo. I have the Boss CH1 great chorus. The issue with the Boss when run in stereo, the A channel is "dry" the B channel is the Chorus. Switch noise is an interesting thing to compare. Personally if someone steps on a pedal, the switch click doesn't bother me. Old School studio with an amp and microphone, makes a difference then. We do everything direct wire in now.
For me it'd be the Julia followed by the boss followed by mxr stereo. These comparisons kick bass!
I like all the sounds. I have the micro chorus and like it set to around 2 o’clock just before it gets all Leslie like.
I have the mxr 234, and I can say that it was used wrong. His low and high controls work as a low pass and high pass filter, so his flat would be at 10 and not like it is in the video, this changes a lot in the final sound. The same with the volume knob, its flat would be at 10, so the other pedals that do not have a volume knob are at maximum volume, that is, at 10
I have the MXR Stereo and thought it sounded good, but after hearing the Julia, it kicks the MXR's butt.
I have gone through a few chorus pedals and my favourite is the Waza CE-2 and DC-2. Use to own a micro Chorus but found it annoying as your always stuck with the same sound, not saying it’s bad but shame it has no depth control :) the stereo MXR would be a nicer choice. To be honest, they all sound nice apart from that tiny blue one, sounds tiny :)
I’ve had the micro chorus for about 10 years now. Always thought there was something about it that didn’t sit quite right. I really loved the wax’s-craft pedal but they’re over $300+tax here in Canada and not much saving on the used market. Have you tried a JHS emperor?
No I haven't. How much is the Stereo Chorus in Canada?
@@MadebyMiike Almost as much as the Waza Craft and they are in short supply here. I only found 1 in Canada and it’s about 6000km from here. I really only need mono for my rig but like the stereo option for recording. I tried the Analog Chorus but it’s also missing something (but not as much as the micro)
CE2W period
¡Great video man! ¡Very helpful! Cheers from Argentina :)
A bit off the wall but despite owning lots of chorus pedals including many of the above the one on my board is a cheap NUX "yellow thing" , dunno what it is that makes it attractive to my ear. Having said that it's not a pedal I tinker with, found its sweet spot ages ago and it's been on those settings since.
That's interesting! Yes, sometimes cheaper stuff just has something to it that makes it pleasant. I have the Mooer Green Mile, and although I tested it against a "real" Ibanez Tubescreamer (which sounds rounder, fuller and more defined) there is still something in the sound of the Green Mile that just inspires me to play!
Thanks for watching!
-Mike
I must say. I'm a bit dissapointed that he barely even touched on the Mooer Ensemble King. For the price, that pedal does an amazing job. No gimmicks, just straight classic chorus. Wish he would have played with the rate dial too. You can get some sweet trem-like chorus sounds a la Come as You Are with that pedal. This video is biased of course, so those other expensive pedals will always overshadow the simpler more affordable pedals.
I have one so I know it really does its job and I'm happy with it. It may be cheap but it sounds great. I actually compared it side by side with a Boss CH2 and you can barely hear the difference. Thanks for backing up the our little guy. 👍🏼
I've just ordered a Mooer Ensemble King because I love its kinda early 80's chorus sounding. I have a Boss CE-5 (Chorus Ensemble) but I can't get this particular type of sound with it.
How did u fix the tone sucking problem of MXR Analog Chorus?
Listening blind, the Julia jumped right out, depth and sound quality wise; the Waza is also ear catching,- unique , but not slow enough. On a mono rig, without a switcher, you've got to consider what it does in bypass, and the MXR generally does bad things to driven sounds.
No Smal Clone? :(
Neunaber Tri-Chorus is the most advanced Chorus ive heard 4 now but the Warlus is handsome
Inspire tri chorus can do so much more than these pedals it's incredible
How are you gonna have a chorus shoot out with no Corona. B.S. how many mxr's do you need to hear? Nicely done though.
I too have owned the original CE2 I presently own the 3 MXRs in this review along with a TC Corona and a Keeley 30ms. But of all these pedals the one I tend to use most is the MXR Micro Chorus. It is just so easy to get a good chorus sound with it without a lot of tweaking. I like the sound of the Julia but the graphics are so ugly I would never own it.
Great shootout! For me it comes down to the Boss CE-2w and the MXR Analog Chorus. Both great sounding. So I thought well then I just go for the MXR as it's cheaper. But then luckily I saw your video on how much tone the MXR sucks... and I just can't have that, such a shame really as it's a great sounding Chorus. So right now I think I'll go for the Boss CE-2w. Unless MXR has done an update to the curcuit...? Thanks :)
You mean just a tone suck on bypass? Then get a true bypass installed.
@@LCRLive687 I got the Jam Pedals Waterfall. Sounds amazing!
Looking through the comments, this is very much about personal preference.
Everyone should have a Boss Ce2 or Ce2w. All these other pedals are just trying to be the Ce2.
I have a Julia and the boss waza. I am using the boss most of the time.
Good review if he would have had a Red Witch it would have covered all that I was looking at, nice job!
well done MacDuff , thorough comparison
*
Waza ce-2 and mxr analog and the julia sounded great to me. slight difference in all 3 but i'm sure you wouldn't be able to tell if gain was added.
Were you disappointed that some pedals had to have their volume cranked. I haven't found one that will keep pace with my other pedals. Do I really need to decrease the levels on the other pedals? Thanks.
Well, the volume controls on these things are FX controls really (dry/wet). Some of These pedals bosst your signal a bit (like the MXR Micro Chorus).
Thanks for watching - Mike
Julia for the win
That Julia is MIND BLOWING,THE BEST CHORUS PEDAL HANDS DOWN!
