Casting Competition | Popular Budget Baitcasters (Light Lure 1/4oz)

- In today's viDEBO I put a few budget baitcasters against each other in a casting competition. I used a lighter 1/4oz lure this time. I was surprised how the results ended up.

- Security Guy, probably
Nah he orders those oil spill looking baitcasters on wish, backlashes 10 casts in a row, and says all baitcasters are a waste of money lol.
Wow that security guard wasn’t playing lol! Great video Debo!!!
Haha thought he was going to throw down 🤣
It’s like Cartman was watching. “ You will respect my authoritah!!” Anyway... kinda interesting to see the LEW’S Classic Pro to do so well. I have a number of LEW’S I use. Great episode. Cheers 👍👍
This really shows that casting performance is about practice and familiarity with a reel. High end stuff is great, and might help make casting easier, but actually working with a reel is the biggest thing that will help improve casting in most cases.
I like the idea of a set of tests for various reel price points, different weights, different lines, etc... gives folks some practical, "reel" world, info as to what they may want to choose on their next purchase. (It has been a punny episode, after all) Thanks for the shout out by the way, feels kinda cool to be recognized! And as always, thanks for being so generous with your experiences so the rest of us can learn more about our shared passion. 👊
It was an puntastic episode 🤣 Thanks for watching and supporting 👊
And great job Okuma! That little Serrano is an awesome little reel. Looking forward to your review Debo!
Awesome video. Appreciate the effort Debo and Dizzle made to bring us this content. Love the variety.
Looking forward to spring fishing videos and testing new lures!
Back home after a great afternoon fishing and there’s a new viDEBO in my queue! YES! 👍🏼
👊👊👊
Interesting stuff man! The live you did with TJ81 and Bassgeek was hilarious! 2 nuns and a midget! 🤣
I knew Deebo could not resist the pun with the security guard 😅
And I loved Randy's response even more. 😆
@@marctheriault "Makin a video. A RUclips video?
@@bottomlinebassin2001 “If this guy says ‘Somethin’s fishy one more time... (sighs and shakes head)... ridiculous.”
@@marctheriault Deebo said why did I even bother inviting him 😅
I think Debo gave it a little extra juice after the security guard came! Loved the video.
I guess I was amped up 🤣
Way to keep your cool!! Good content! Thank you for the time and energy you put into the video 🍻🍺
Interesting results. Keep up the great videos!
Good stuff, as always! Keep the equipment videos coming-us beginners learn a lot. I know I do! And watch out for the security next time!
I do enjoy these tests - really helps to see ahead of buying what might be the way to go ... I know they are up there in price but would be curious about how the DC reels do. Thanks for all the great info!
I just got my first diawa reel yesterday. Got the tatula sv tw. Can't wait to get out and give it a try.
Love those little cuda scissors!!! Got a pair in each one of my rigs and there’s at least 3 pair circulating in my boat. Lol!!!! :)
Should’ve went with the click bait title. POLICE CALLED!! Debo in cuffs as a thumbnail. 😂 great video man!
Hahaha Randy and I joked about that!
I like the casting comparisons between similar priced reels. Really shows what company puts the best amount of work into their products. I'm not sure if it's possibly but could you do a drag comparison video? I know most reels have a drag rating between 13lb-17lb I do believe but not all of them are for sure the same.
Love the comparison videos. Don’t think you can go wrong with any of those reels. Surprised how good the Lews hung with the others & for the price that the one I’d grab.
Awesome vid man. I like all the vids. Don't thank you can do a bad one. Lol
Hey good job splicing your sound from each mic while keeping the POV consistent
I'd like to see a casting shootout from the 3 big mail order reel companies (Sixgill, KastKing, and Piscifun). The only catch with Sixgill is that they have Bogo sales where you have to buy 2 reels to get the price down, vs only buying one from the other two companies.
I own three of those Lew's brand Classic Pro baitcasters. I originally bought it for my husband but after using it myself it quickly became shareware between us. After a few months of use I had to go back and get the other two for us. It's a true workhorse and casts far while staying on point for accuracy 👌. I team all three of them with the Lew's Mach 2 medium/fast action rods. Good to know, too, that the drag holds just as well as it casts !! It's a truly great reel for all kinds of general use baits short of frogging, of course 😉. Btw, it's my least expensive reel in my entire arsenal too !!!.
Great video i just picked up the revo x this past wknd for froggin.
Your Boss called the cops!
Dangit, Randy cracks me up! 😂😂
He does me too 🤣🤣🤣
AWESOME video!! Thats cool the cheapest reel when pretty far. It would be cool to see best froggin reel and punching reel since they would be kinda used similar situations for each other.
Security come by and got ya fired up you cast that 113 feet lol nice video man
Adrenaline was pumping 🤣
I love the revo Can’t beat it once you get it dialed in
I used it for froggin and I could dang near spool it on a cast!
Some people just gotta get in somebodies business. 🤦🏻
Grrrrreatt vid Debo!!!!
Haha I know...oh well...it did look strange to see us out there I'm sure 🤣
Love these videos. Too bad we only get them during cooler seasons. By the time it gets warm and I start thinking about what to buy next, I've forgotten the results of the test! Guess I'll be watching this one again in a month or two!
I've got a few more to film soon!
Great review Debo ! These reels are the ones everyone uses !
Love that you got Randizzle out there now too lol great helpfull videos! Love seeing how they perform in general.
It was a huge help having him do the measurements!
This was super fun to watch & listen too. Sidebar into audio (though I'm certainly no expert) It was cool to hear/see you play with perspective on both ends, more of that please! CRAZY FUNNY that you got stopped by your own security 🤓 You won't believe it till you see it, but my last session/next episode features local law enforcement too! Fret not, Im still a free man 😂 Anywho, super cool! I really thought the SLX would have performed on longer casts as well, but as you've said before, "Accuracy over distance any day" Sweet Videbo & shout out to Randizzle for rocking like a champ! Can't wait for the next one!
PS, I JUST noticed you tamed the do! Bet your noggin feels light as a feather 🪶
It felt strange when I buzzed it! 😕
That security guard takes his job very seriously haha. All three reels were in the same ballpark. I liked the lew’s laser mg. That sucker could cast a country mile for me
Can't wait to getting hands on a revo x.
I've had some scissors added to my truck for a while now, "because they are so handy!!"
SOOOO HANDY! 🙊🤣
More casting stuff please 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I liked this video as I enjoy seeing the differences on the reels. I'm always looking for the next one. Wondering have you seen the Piscifun Alijoz aluminum frame? Would you consider purchasing and reviewing?
I always used to throw okuma spinning reels, and may have to snag me an okuma baitcaster now
That little Serrano is pretty legit.
Several manufacturers ship their reels with grease and oil I wouldn't use to lube a wagon wheel with. Abu Garcia is one of the worst. You should do a video similar to this one, but first round is the reels straight from the box, then after a proper cleaning and relube with good grease and oil.
Many folks would be very surprised at the difference.
I have about 8 different baitcasters from all different companies, Piscifun, Diawa, 13fishing, Abu Garcia, quantum and okuma and I have to say the Serrano is hands down my favorite! Just landed a Muskie on it last week smallmouth fishing with no issues.
I’ve been waiting for this video! Thanks
Great video .. okuma really surprised me . I’m gonna attempt to learn skipping this year if you have any suggestions on that.
Very cool 😎 DEBO i Would like to see that quantum pt behind you casting distance. 🍻
I just ordered the Revo X right before this video came out. Its $20 off at Bass Pro. Glad it was not the worst of the bunch or I would have been second guessing choice. Keep these videos coming. I enjoy them.
It's a solid reel. I used it all year for froggin.
"Well if math serves me right, which it does, it is."
Wise words from Randizle - 2021
I need a shirt with this. 🤣
@@DEBOSFishing I'd buy 1 immediately.
Oh lurd that old man
Well, that's interesting. I have a few revo x, and a few less, mainly lfs. I only have 1 shimano, and that's a 90's green something. I swear the revo casts farther when I'm throwing baits. Very cool to see these comparison vids. Thanks!!
Would like to see the Shimano SLX dc, Lews KVD, and that Diawa. You could add a few more in too.
I've got more of these planned!
Is this an old video? Or is there just that much snow where you're at still?
Always like the videos debo always so much good info in it. I’m surprised you didn’t include the lfs but we all know how good that reel is. Thanks man! Cheers!
I was going to but had the classic pro 💁♂️ Lfs will be in one soon!
Dude I use the revo x the same one and love that thing im probly going to get a couple more I love them so much
The Lews Classic pro looks like a really good reel for $59 I might have to pick one up! Great ViDebo!
Has done well for me!
I think the SLX deserves another test without wind in the face. Science says to eliminate variables.
The SLX is always going to perform this bad because its just centrifugal brakes. The SLX XT would perform better because it has variable brakes. The SLX MGL is going to perform the best because its designed for lighter lures and also has the variable brakes.
I'm sure there will be more casting competitions featuring the SLX. Distance wise all the reels were all in the same ballpark.
Or just get the DC version
@@kristopherwiita4509 with lighter baits I still think the MGL would outperform a DC. The DC is useful for baits that have a tendency to stutter. Stuff with blades like chatterbaits or spinnerbaits, or even some hard swimbaits. So if you're throwing a chatterbait and its windy, if the wind happens to blow the wrong way mid-cast, you might backlash. Whereas the DC is much less likely because it's going to change faster then you can with your thumb alone.
@@twiggsherman3641 thanks Twigg i own several and have had good luck with them casting all weughts but it does excel for bladed jigs, cranks and others
Usually, lighter lures agree with lower spool tension on my Daiwa SVs!
How do you like the SLX? I just picked it up and not liking the internal brake system for quick adjustments.
I do my distance tests with weights in the front yard. I can tell you that a reel with an 8.1:1 ration cannot retrieve faster than my golden retriever.😂
I do the same with my two cats! I tie on their little mouse toy and they love it. My 8:1:1 curado dc can beat the cat but my 7:3:1 gets caught every time! I call it “cat fishing” they ❤️ it
@@SaulTeebolz that’s most of the reason I can’t take them when I go fishing. They immediately and instinctively jump in the water lol!
@@live2fishofficial you def can’t keep retrievers out of the water.... they ARE going in 😂
@@SaulTeebolz yep! And the first time I was casting with them off a dock, the wife was holding them on tethers and almost went for a swim with them!😂
I love the SLX. I was surprised it wasn't at the top 💁♂️
Wind only comes towards you until it gets there! 😮
More of these viDebo’s would be awesome. I’m a little happy that the Revo X did a little better than the Shimano. Simply because my friends always say that their Shimanos are better than my Revo’s. Debo, you should have told that security guard, “You know who I am?” like you did to that other feeshin’ friend on the boat. 😁😄 Hopefully we see more reel shootouts like this one.
I will do some more soon, they are fun!
Recently picked up the lews classic pro using with floro for flipping and weighted worms. Seems like a good solid reel. Have the slx on my frog rod. I think I may like the lews more
I love diawa, it’s my personal favorite and I’m willing to spend the extra money on it
They make awesome reels!
was this recorded recently? the water in central iowa is unfrozen and there isn’t any snow.
Nice informative vid! Not surprised by the Classic Pro. Have several of the LFS reels and they can throw 1/4 oz lures a long ways all day long. Believe the classic pro is about the same as the LFS except for the frame material. Plus,it says Lew’s on the side plate😉
Great video.
Let’s talk about that Psycho Stick! Those things are awesome.
Agreed, that rod is legit! I put it to work the other day on a lot of fish!
nice bro very informative straight to the point just how I like it Fish-On
Why you test the Lews Classic instead of the Lews LFS... seems like a better comparison with closer cost.
Dunno...wanted to see how the $59 could hold up against the others 💁♂️
The guy in the car, who called the cops, works for Shimano... He wanted the test to end without any clear winners, except, the guard was a little slow... Just Kidding man, I run all Shimano.
Hahah I know, I for sure though the SLX would win 💁♂️
My brother who fish in tournaments use the bass pro shops Pro qualifier series baitcaster. Its less than a 100 dollars and its good. Simply love it great quality for the price. Also lews classic pro and Shimano SLX are great too.
I purchased the Lew’s Xfinity reel and rod from Walmart, not in a combo, but separate, and I was casting an 1/8 ounce practice weight with 15 lbs Seaguar Red Label around 100 feet. I was surprised! I had picked it up for my 11 year old son to learn on and it did really well. Took a bit to dial it in but once it was there, it did great!
The Car watching you guys was thinking “LSD” lol fishing in a parking lot. I do like that Fuego and they are reasonable on Amazon now.
Those results were very interesting, and a wind is a hinderance, especially for a Baitcaster. Apparently that Security Guard doesn't know anything about fishing, but he was just doing his job, that would have been the perfect opportunity to ask him, "Don't you know who I am?", Lol.
Hahaha yeah, the Wind had other plans. Luckily he was cool and didn't kick us out!
Thanks for the video Debo. I agree. Next casting video with a little higher end reels. How about a video about knot strength? Tie a few knots and hang something, like a bucket off the end, and see how much weight the knots can take before breaking. I liked the angle from Randizzle's side, casting towards him. Love the content man. 🎣👍
I’d like to have seen a lew’s lfs in there. I have 2 and I’d put them against anything. Loved the video though great info bro. Thanks for doing what you do 🤟🏽🔥🎣
Great video~ up next you and dizzle should setup some targets and do an accuracy video.
I’d watch that!!!’
Love my Lew's Classic Pro, just wish it came in a 6.5/1 ratio.
Hard to beat that Lew's classic pro for the money
Love it. Would like to see the Daiwa CC80/CR80?
I'd be interested to see a cheapo KastKing comparison. Lots of sub-$100 KastKing models online!
Ps, helpful hint, if ya gonna use fancy glasses that let you see into water, they don’t let you see the screen on a fancy camera. I apologize for some horrible filming. Ps. It’s strange to see fishing from the other side of fishing... ie the fish view?!?
The benefits of the 2nd angle and commentary certainly outweighed any camera deficiencies. Thanks for helping out. 👍🏼
Yeah, that's my gripe with that camera 🤬
Good demo DeBo glad you guys got though that with out being jailed .....
Need to do more lives and save the money for bail 🤣
Just picked up that classic pro today at my local Walmart.... absolutely worth $59.... unreal how good it is for the money....
Great video quick question do you think upgrading bearings on cheaper reels would help in their casting distance and performance keep it up 🎣🎣🔥🔥
Hmm...maybe we test that on a couple!
Nope Shimano is great but looooooooots of fan boys out there. Don't get maced.
Luckily I don't make my money with my looks 🤣
I just picked up a kastking crixus, review video on that pls?
What no kastking? I think they are a great budget company. They just came out with a new real the zepher and it's made for light stuff.
I will say it again, Okuma puts high quality bearings in their reels. They are known to be long casters out of the box.
I agree completely!!
Okuma is so underrated. The Epixor XT is the best spinner for the money IMHO. Amazing line lay.
@@aaronhiggs before moving to baitcasters, all my rigs had epixor XT's. Unbelievable reels.
I have seen the Lews Classic combo at my local Walmart for $59.99. Is that the reel you was using, but not the rod that came with it. I like the Lews!! The link for Amazon for the Lews doesn't show it for $59.99, it has it for 75.99!!! WOW!!! I own a Quantum Pulse, it is my first bait casting reel and then I bought a Kastking. Then I bought a Ozark Trail bait caster reel. Not really impressed with it. So I am looking at getting another reel and I saw the Lews Classic combo and when I saw this video and you mentioned the Lews Classic, I thought I need to go and buy that!! Juddie - J & J TOA
Dang, price must have went up. Check tackle warehouse . That reel should only be $59
How about a review of the Daiwa CA 80.
I haven't seen too many vids on it.
I absolutely love mine. 99 bucks
Good reelistic test. So what happened with the security guard?
Nothing, he left and told us to finish up 🤣
*Smooth and sturdy! **enjoyable.fishing** recommend Throwing 50# braid with mono leader and it casts beautifully. Love the Lube port, great innovation. Zero complaints after 20 or So outings.*
I still have a hard time casting light lures even with mgl spools. Great video
I've got some MGLS to test soon!
Lew's Tournament MP would be good for the $150ish test.
I've got that one!
Do a casting trick shots video and let's see which reels flip most accurately.
Man I’d love to see some Quantum reels in there. Maybe the Vapor...🤔
I just got a quantum reel 🤔
what I noticed being an owner of a few Lews reels is that the more you use em, the better they get. Like after a month of usage they just come alive. I do have a Daiwa Tatula Ct Type R and believe me, I prefer my 2 year old Mach Crush. When I got my Tournement Pro, I still prefered my Crush...but after a month or 2, that Tournement Pro just killed it. So what I'm getting to is that your Lews has alot of millage on it compared to the other ones...I know cuz you've been using it for years.
Breakin the Law!!!!!!!! I'll see you kids in detention!
My SLX casts best with only two brakes engaged. It casts as well as my Revo X but weighs a lot less. One brake engaged usually leads to a backlash and three brakes doesn't go too far.
Question on Lews....the classic pro, the reactor, mach 1, mach 2, xfinity, crush.....theyre all sub $100 and seem very similar. Besides bearing count, any other differences?
