I just watched a 14 minute review of a reel I have no interest in what-so-ever. Why? Cuz it's Debo, and cuz these reviews all add up to create a bigger picture, kids. Great job, man.
One of the reasons I first started watching you was that I have come to love you gear reviews. There are other more scientific one's out there, but for my money you focus on things the average fisherman can truly appreciate as value. Thanks Debo
Man, let me tell you, I was not expecting this what I saw in your RUclips video explanation totally unbelievable never seen anybody gets so much into great detail. Very professional!! but I just wanted to tell you that I was completely blown away was not expecting it. But the way you talk about all these different things and how you get into it. It just blows my mind away. Best I've ever freaking seen !!!!!! They're just too many Goofy people trying to do what you do great job!
I've never owned a lews reell until about 3 years ago, I purchased the KVD bait casting reel and I love it. I now three of them and I'll be looking to purchase another one in about a month.
Thanks Deebo for the rundown on the reel. Most stores where I live don't carry great selections on baitcasters. So it is nice to get an in depth and honest review before I order one.
I have a friend who’s a big KVD head so he told me about them before they released, I already have my rod and reel also and it’s nice I just have to get used to lews braking system
I love how in-depth your reel reviews are. Wish I had enough experience with a wide variety of baitcasters to do the same. I usually use my Abu Black Max. It's been an absolute work horse for me... Can throw just about any weight lure, haven't cleaned or lubed it after 3 years of abuse and the darn thing just keeps working!
I got Lew's Custom Speed Spool(model: CG1XH) for $100 back in July. I was hunting for a reel to get myself for my birthday(on 7/11) and they had only one left on display. I inspected it and determined it to be just fine for me to get. I negotiated toe 100$, since it was a display. The BEST reel I have ever used. I love this thing. I have it paired with a Duckett Silverado 7-0 MH(also bought on sale at a different time). This combo is LIGHT and sensitive. I really enjoy fishing with it.
Hey, Debo's. KVD worked for Quantum before Lew's. All this reel is a Quantum KVD reel with a twist. Basically the same color, size, weight and ratios. Even the price is close to the same. You can pick up a Quantum KVD reel on EBay for half the price of the new Lew's. The only differents. I see is the extra brake system. So people don't be fooled that this is really something new. When it just a rehash of the Quantum KVD reel. I would buy a Quantum ACCURIST PT S3 reel with a flipping switch. Which is a very good baitcaster for less money 7 to 1 ratio. Got mine during a Christmas sale for $89.00. Great video Debo's. Lew's are good reel's. Hiller's uses them all the time. Shawn.
I usually keep the inside brakes set down and start with the outside turned up until I get dialed in. Looks like a nice reel. To me Lews reels and especially their rods, have a unique feel.
Have two myself and they're great. Have the 6.2 for cranking and the higher speed for heavy grass stuff. Absolutely nothing bad to say about them. I do agree with you about the compact size being uncomfortable for anglers with big paws, but my hands are small and this reel is a perfect fit.
I got a qvd baitcasting reel in 7.5 to 1 for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Have it paired with my Dobbins 734 Cb. Absolutely recommend this real. Blows the daiwa line away.
Nice looking reel but at $139, I would probably go with the Tatula 100 for about the same price. Appreciate all of the vids you've been dropping lately!
Debo my friend, thank you for doing this review. Not for the reel, I'm not a Lews guys so don't hate me lol. But I shot a reel review this morning and I wasn't happy with it. The way you broke things down helped me A TON so I'll be redoing it tonight. Thanks again my friend!
You did well expanding on the ergonomics of the reel and how the handle grips are subjective to personal preference , but I believe you did not go very in-depth into the performance of the reel , weightless baits , accuracy , casting into the wind , weighted bait sweet spots for the reel ie. does it excel at 1/4 - 1/2 for example. Also its performance vs the competition at the price point, what the manufacturer warranty and customer service experience ,should you have to call them. Just something to think about.
So, what I heard from a rep about the KVD was this: Kevin took the Lew's Tournament Pro LFS Casting Reel ($199) and said he wanted that reel at a better price, so they downgraded the handle, and they downgraded the spool and said "there you go!" I haven't bought one but I think they're great and I probably will pick one up.
If that were true, then they would have the same braking system. They do not. The Tournament Pro LFS has the ACB centrifugal brakes while the KVD reel has the MSB system with magnetic and centrifugal brakes. I'm personally not a fan of magnetic brakes, so the kvd reel would be good for people who aren't sure what their preference is.
@@dudemcgee256 Good to know man. I watched this the day after being in my local tackle shop & the store manager had a Lew's rep at the shop. They were discussing KVD and shared the story with me. I figure he's a credible source. I don't own the reel but figured I'd share. If that wasn't the case (and you say it wasn't) then boo on me for sharing without doing homework.
@@kylelundy7870 It's all good man, I hear stories all the time. I work for a tackle manufacturer and we are a Lew's dealer. I've gotten a unique opportunity to check out all of the reels in person to compare. The KVD reel is one of the best deals in the line up for sure. My fav is the Lew's Team Lite though.
I'd really like see an in-depth review of the Daiwa Tatula CT. What you think about their T-Wing System, Magforce compared to other brake systems, build quality, castability, cast distance compared to the SLX and your favorite casting reels. I want to hear all the little pet peeves you have with the CT because that's how we can get an honest review. I've been watching your videos for a long time but never bothered to sign in and subscribe. I think its pretty awesome. Great gear ratios and best of both world mag and centrifical brakes. Pretty cool the marked the centrifical brakes. Im one of those guys that contacted you and you helped. The bait keeper is pretty sweet.
I’d love to see a review on the slx xt, and see what you think about the whole slx lineup and maybe your favorite or what you think is the best value between all of them.
great review debo. cant wait to hear what you have to say about the slx dc. i have one on my frog rod and love it and just won another from tackle warehouse through the bassmaster fantasy fishing program!
Great video sir!! I feel your reel review videos are far better than any other out there. You do a great job of breaking them down and giving and honest opinion. Look forward to the ones you got coming. Until then, stay safe and God Bless.

Thanks alot for the videos and info on product I'm starting a short list of products from your videos that maybe I might be able to afford someday so thanks
I have both Lew's and Shimano reels. The 2 I grab the most are the Lew's Tournament MB and the Shimano 150 DC. They both cast very well but the advantage of the Shimano 150 or any DC reel, to my understanding, is I can be casting with the wind, turn into the wind and still make good casts with no further adjustment or bird nest. Great review Debo! Would like to see more with a tad more performance testing.
Debo, thanks for the review. Love the pro/con info. Looking forward to your take on the Tatula. Don’t mind it being a bit bigger. Have bigger hands myself & some reels do feel a little toyish to me. Keep’um comin!!!
Dang.......I want one of those! Is there a dollar bill flying away emoji? Great review. It told me what I wanted to know about that reel plus what you think of it has a lot.of cred in my mind. ‘Course something that good looking obviously needs a nice new rod to compliment it😎. Keep ‘em coming bro.
The KVD reel looks nice. I have a Lews Tournament Pro G that has the ACB (adjustable centrifugal braking) system which adjusts on the exterior of the reel similar to magnetic brakes. Works great.
Looks like an reel I would be interested in purchasing. Always wanted to try a Quantum but never got around to buying one. I have a few Lews reel and could see myself buying his one.
I have moved away from Lew’s and gone with the Daiwa Tatula 100. It’s the smallest Tatula and it’s amazing reel. Love the refinement to them would like to see a video on it you can get them off Amazon for around 134.97 I think and bass pro will match that price. But it’s the only reel I want to throw anymore.
Pretty sweet reel! Never noticed your a left hand reeler!?? I’m a natural righty but been thinking about trying the left hand reel bait casters for efficiency purposes.
I just started fishing and I have some entry level combos but I plan on getting something nice, Lews are so nice but I dont know all the companies yet. I have a cheap Shakespeare baitcaster combo that I learned on, a Abu Garcia black max spinning reel setup and I just got Abu black max baitcaster reel that in going to out on a Abu rod.
Hey.... so I challenge you to the Quantum icon pt. It’s an aluminum frame, 25 lb drag, for only $40 bucks on Amazon. I have one myself. It’s a budget beast.
Go Quantum. I have the ACCURIST PT S3 baitcaster 7 to 1. Awesome reel for $89.00. The color is white on a 6'6 Berkely Cherrywood medium heavy baitcaster rod. What puts the reel over the top. It has a flipping switch too. Never hear anyone bring up Quantum. Since KVD jumped ship from Quantum to Lew's. I will not use any other Baitcaster reel's. Quantum works for me. Shawn.
Glad you posted this...I haven’t had time to fish with it but once and I have the GC4(7’MH) matching rod also no catches yet but they both feel really good. The only thing I’m regretting is going with a RH retrieve, all my others are LH and I chose an expensive setup to switch it up lol
Should check out the Diawa Tatula Elite reel. Either the regular one or the pitch/flip. I have the regular one and so far I am loving it. Even more so than the Tatula SV's.
My Shimano Curado just stopped working can’t reel it in with any weight on the line checked the drag checked all the weights it just stopped working. Anyway I was told by 2 major fishing equipment stores that I have to send it back to Shimano. I do not want to wait for them to fix it so I purchased the Lews KVD LFS bait caster for a backup until I get the Shimano back. I got it at a very good price and I thank you for the review. If you have any information on what happened to my Shimano I would appreciate it. Thanks again.
Debo, I have been waiting for this review. Beautiful looking reel and color (Shimano). Seems like a bargain for what you get in features and quality. Becoming a Lew’s reel fan. Have a couple of spinning reels, no rods or casting reels yet! I would love to see the reel and rod paired up. Together they are eye candy.
The KVD Lew’s is almost identical to the Tournament MB and Tournament MB reels which are some of my favorite reels of all time. They are the perfect bang for the buck of durability and castability. Nice paint job as well. Lew’s sells all kinds of knobs if you want to switch them out
Good review. As usual, we end up learning about 3 or 4 different products with each of these reviews which expands our knowledge in two directions; in depth facts about the subject and parallel/comparable info about the competition. Helps answer so many questions in a short amount of time. Your efforts are truly appreciated. 👍
I just picked up the custom speed spool and I don’t even think it has the p2 pinion gear but it’s still a hell of a reel. Especially matched up with the new tp1x rod!
I would like to see you compare the Lew' KVD to the Lews Tournament MP. They seem like the same real except for a brass vs aluminum gear and made in China vs Korea. Love your videos, keep up the good work!
Debo you should get the 7’0 med heavy milliken rod! I am planning on getting it but there are no reviews on RUclips. I pan on using it for swim jigs and flukes. I am also looking out for a nice shimano under 200 dollars, I’d like your opinion on that too!
I’ve got a couple different KVD reels and honestly I’ve never had an issue with them. Same thing with Lew’s reels. Not to mention if you do actually have an issue with your lews reel their customer service is awesome.
Hey #DEBOFishing great video as usual bud 👍 if you only had to choose two ( one baitcaster and one spinning) set-up from your many rods and reels what would they be??

The KVD Lew’s is almost identical to the Tournament MB and Tournament MB reels which are some of my favorite reels of all time. They are the perfect bang for the buck of durability and castability. Nice paint job as well. Lew’s sells all kinds of knobs if you want to switch them out
Good review. As usual, we end up learning about 3 or 4 different products with each of these reviews which expands our knowledge in two directions; in depth facts about the subject and parallel/comparable info about the competition. Helps answer so many questions in a short amount of time. Your efforts are truly appreciated. 👍
I just got that and the cc2 rod
I just picked up the custom speed spool and I don’t even think it has the p2 pinion gear but it’s still a hell of a reel. Especially matched up with the new tp1x rod!
Great vid per usual. Would love to see some on the water with a possible fish catch or two with the reels on the reviews.
Yeah, I try to always include that when I can 👊
Awesome review.
I would like to see you compare the Lew' KVD to the Lews Tournament MP. They seem like the same real except for a brass vs aluminum gear and made in China vs Korea. Love your videos, keep up the good work!
DEBO, nice review. How about that TP1X Speed Stick? Thoughts, comments?
Yo now this is more like it!!! New baitcaster on the market review 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Debo you should get the 7’0 med heavy milliken rod! I am planning on getting it but there are no reviews on RUclips. I pan on using it for swim jigs and flukes. I am also looking out for a nice shimano under 200 dollars, I’d like your opinion on that too!
Great review! This one's going on my short list when I need a new reel.
Great video💪💪
I’ve got a couple different KVD reels and honestly I’ve never had an issue with them. Same thing with Lew’s reels. Not to mention if you do actually have an issue with your lews reel their customer service is awesome.
Like the bass geek shirt. Have you done a review on the bass pro pro qualifier 2?
Hey #DEBOFishing great video as usual bud 👍 if you only had to choose two ( one baitcaster and one spinning) set-up from your many rods and reels what would they be??
