I have 2 of those! Well had 2. Unfortunately someone stole all my fishing poles, but I did get all but one combo back that just happened to be one of my Daiwa cr80s
Just a heads up I know this is old but any new people wondering about it the diawa ca80 I bought 3 for striper setups to test them out and I caught 100’s of pounds of fish on them with the biggest being 23lb and got 27 stripers in one morning so they are tried and true And have held up perfect
Man I bought that exact same reel about 2 weeks ago from Academy and it makes an awesome mid-diving crankbait/spinnerbait reel.. I put 14 lb fluorocarbon on it and went to town.. and I didn't even need it, it was just an impulse buy just because I wanted to try it and I wound up liking it! Daiwa make some good stuff, even their cheaper stuff is better than some other brands more high and stuff.. but for the price point you can't go wrong with this reel.. and I would definitely say if you're a beginner and you're just starting out with baitcasters this would be a perfect one to start with as far as the price point goes the functionality and dependability!
*I love it **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I’m using it for my 1.0 Crankbaits and small Jerkbait. Paired with my Assassin. Works great, feels great. Would definitely recommend this setup.*
Awsome bro I just got the slx dc this bihh is bad I also have the diawa tatula along with 2 lew's a classic/ reactor more googan rods comming when I can finally afford 1 I want a muscle gold for my diawa along with a green reaction for lew's reactor and gold finesse for the lew's classic I just hate spending 80$ per rod
I’ve had the cr80 & cc80 slightly over 2 years now. Primarily used for Striper fishing throwing 3/8, 1/2oz swimbaits. Unserviced & still reeling strong. Can’t knock the budget friendly reels down. They’ve outlasted my Lews Speed Spool thus far.
I have 2 of the HSL a CR 80 and a CG. These things are great for teaching fishermen that are new to baitcasting and all of them are holding up well. Worth the $!
If you want to keep your drag in tip top shape, set the hook with your thumb and keep the drag light. I only use enough drag to pull the lure through the water and nothing else. As you lose line it takes more force to pull line off the spool because the diameter shrinks meaning there's less leverage. If you have 4lbs of drag with a full spool, at half full it'll be 8lbs equivalent, and near the end it'll double again to 16lbs equivalent. Tight lines out there!
IMO, the best entry Daiwa baitcaster is the Daiwa Fuego CT. Notice how the CR80 looks just like a Lews and Abut, because it's all made by the same manufacturer Doyo.
When looking online to purchase a baitcaster there are always numbers listed eg Daiwa CG 80,Daiwa Tatula 100 CT,Shimano Curado 300k etc Do the numbers refer to the size of the spool or the size of the reel?
I a Diawa rep try to get me to buy a tatula sv tw over the slx dc and he was showing the reel and let me play with reel and handle it and it too started making noises like that. The short and long, well I bought two Shimano's SLX series reels one xt and one dc... wonder how he felt after that... that noise completely turned me off from purchasing their reels.
If you take your spool tension all the way off until there's just a little movement and adjust your brakes to about %60 to 70% on, you'll get the best performance possible.
This is gonna be perfect for my new finesse setup. Picked up a 6’ medium light fast action bass pro micro lite rod that can throw down to 1/16oz. Always stayed away from graphite frames but I think it’ll hold up just fine especially with this being a super light weight combo. Catching 2-3 pounders is gonna be fun as hell on this rod. Gonna be perfect for those super light balsa rapala jerk baits. Can’t wait for spring.
Dude thanks for the info, I've been a spinning reel kind of guy but I want to start using a baitcaster and I wasn't really sure what to choose or how to go about looking for one, appreciate the content brotha!
The ca is aluminum framed around the same price. These diawa reels are now being made in the lews/doyo in korea. Alot of diawa fan boys hate it bass pro reels lews the the ca cc cr diawa reels. are all made there in korea higher end is made in Japan i believe like shimano all the higher end ones
Yo Westin. I’ve been a hard believer in shimano and Diawa since I started fishing but you should try and brake down in a vid the lews 300 super duty. I would love to hear your thoughts
Love the diawa content! I may have to try this out. Not related but the last couple videos you've made are a little laggy on my end. Not sure if you changed your software or something recently but just wanted to give you that feedback incase no one else has.
Thanks for the review. I generally stay away from graphite framed baitcasters. Lowest I go is a $100 aluminum Lew’s LFS. You can find them on sale for not much more than the Daiwa you reviewed.
Mr. Westin Smith, we want Latinos to know a little more about your adventures, which are very good, but English is a bottleneck to get an idea of everything you do and get to know your fishing equipment company better. He would assure her that her channel and the sale of items in her stores in the United States would multiply. Hug from Colombia.
You know it great to see the high Dollar reals , But the Average weekend person that fishes on weekend can not afford them . that why i see some good company out there putting good Quality reels and rods for half to 3/4 of the price . This is why i click on the video
You say budget, but for me that's an investment, my fishing rod costs 20 bucks, rod and reel, and dangerous my baits is just some sausages and some gulp worms, wish I could use the googan stuff
That shit is so weak how when you were in the house your arm was straight as a stove pipe but as soon as you go out in the gym, you put your weights in the background shot. you’re standing there flexing as hard as you can with your bicep lol. You could see your tendons standing up in your forearm🤣
I commented on the previous Daiwa vid and said about how they were considered top notch in the UK when I started angling. Daiwa always had a great range for whatever ya budget allowed. Shakespeare, Abu Garcia were notable at the time as well. Shimano were only known for sea reels 30 odd years ago. Here endeth the boring lesson. 🙂
Check the reel out here! The Daiwa CR80 gokarls.com/westinsmith
You have to check out (gilltek_usa swimjigs of instagram)
If you can get me a rod and ship it to Ontario i pay difference go to rod gold or green even the 2 piece having trouble getting it here
I think it being new you prob should of used alil reel oil to make sure the spool bearing was lubricated enough

Love the legit budget friendly reviews. You always make great content. Now I have a possible contender for my daughters 1st baitcaster to learn on.
You should try a Shimano Cauis next. I also love your videos! 🤙🏼
Love mind i been using last 2 weeks 😁👍
*I love it **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I’m using it for my 1.0 Crankbaits and small Jerkbait. Paired with my Assassin. Works great, feels great. Would definitely recommend this setup.*
Nice! I almost picked this up but got the curado k instead. Almost went budget but I figured I'd treat myself
Prolly should have done the same this year but prolly just gonna continue grinding out on the 50-100 dollar range

@@tvtissue6866 the lew's reactor has done me good this past few months nice budget reel with decent casting
I have lots of daiwa baitcasters, they’re all awesome. Can’t complain, daiwa is super underrated.
I’ve been fishing for about 25yrs now and daiwa was the first big brand I was introduced to. It’s what my fishing mentor used
@@corvettesplus4913 Shimano and Daiwa reels are very similar to me. The Japanese know what they’re doing lol.
Also just bought the Shimano Curado 70 MGL BC Reel and the Diawa Tatula Sv 80.

Love the cr80 I got 3 of them and they have never failed me
Hows this reel holding out with the graphite frame and all? Thinking about picking one up.
I picked up the Daiwa CA80H a few days ago and it is an absolute beast! I got it in the 6.8: 1 and I absolutely love it!
I got the same one. Aluminium framed. No t wing so i can use a flouro leader
I have the CR80. It’s on my crank/moving bait rod. Decent reel for the money. I have a Lew’s Custom Lite that will be here Tuesday. I won that one

Believe it or not I switched one rods video to watch yours bro off top one of my biggest influences. 💯

Shimano is top notch. From the high-end to the budget friendly SLX. I haven't had a single issue with them and they're always smooth!
You really need to try the Daiwa Tatula sv tw - absolutely amazing - I have both Daiwa and Shimano - like both - Tatula is fantastic!
If you take your spool tension all the way off until there's just a little movement and adjust your brakes to about %60 to 70% on, you'll get the best performance possible.
Could you use this reel for bfs fishing aswell has the big lures looks like a pretty good all rounder
the soon to be diawa king!!

if it's a brown rod i've had this rod for 16+ years and i still use it.
I feel like Westin should be bigger his videos are so well put together and he carries himself very well in these videos
just takes time mate

I would get a slx dc
Henlo sir.
What is minimal lure weight?
Can it throw 5gr spoon or 2gr SF?
Thanks
I’ve had mine for a few months and it doesn’t make that noise might wanna take it back not to sure but doesn’t sound good lol
Daiwa Exceller is the best budget 2500 size reel on the market, try that too its a beast
I have the CC80 and it is about $10 cheaper. It is a 7.5:1 rear ratio. I am very pleased with this reel
I have that reel and love it
@Westin Smith So it's 2022 has it held up? or should one just go okuma/shimano?
What reel?? It looks rlly nicw
Own it, love it. Like it better than my origin c and black maxx
Just picked up muscle rod caught five fish in half hour

can u catch pike with it?
The fuego >> cr80 imo
Nice review and I see your channel blowing up!
Great video bro 👍
Is it good for saltwater fishing?
I didn’t check that but I would assume it isn’t sealed the best for saltwater given it’s price point. I may be entirely wrong
I have had this reel for about a year and the drag just started to slip but either way I’m daiwa over Shimano every day
Maybe I should take the dive into baitcaster this is affordable so if I don’t like it hey why not thanks for the review
I also just a gantarel jr but I’m too scared too loose it😂
I mean more reel reviews ain’t that bad😂

love the budget reel videos! it’s cool to see you fish with lower end stuff for once just a little more relatable lol👊🏽

Max drag ?
I believe I mention it when covering the box details. I think 15lbs
@@WestinSmith thank uuuu

Iike theos reels
Your rod stash looks like a bamboo forest
Westin could you do a small channel review over my channel and Bass Angler Dane???
Are you becoming a Diawa fan?
I ordered this one before buying the Zillion from John.

Nice reel but I hate how daiwa copied shimano lol
Early Gang!!
