My dad's rule when it came to bullying was if we got suspended or expelled for defending ourselves we got ice cream and videogames.

My kid is also 8 and allergic to peanuts too. The kid handled this perfectly. He told a teacher and it kept happening. He was defending himself. The other kid was assaulting him. Buy that kid a Play Station. Both sets of parents handled this perfectly too.

My spouse's nieces came over to play with our kids. And I overhead my niece tell my son "If I hit you. You can't hit me back. Because I'm a girl.". I laughed and said "I don't think so Miss Thang. If you hit him, he has every right to defend himself. Even if it means hitting you back. He's not gonna get in trouble for defending himself.". She got mad and cried to her parents. Which told her the same thing. She got mad because she couldn't just hit someone with no consequences.

For the first story, as a person who is also allergic to peanuts. There is a strong possibility that the kid is also allergic to Tree Nuts as well. I am in that situation, my peanut reaction is way stronger than my tree but reaction. I will only get a rash from tree nuts but will have the collapsed throat, shortness of breath and the rash with peanuts.

If I were the parent of that bully, I’d be really worried about the type of person my child was becoming. There was a lot of thought given on how to torment OP’s child.

On the dad who punished his child for being late to church: I can almost GUARANTEE you that kid is gonna drop church like a hot coal the moment he can without punishment. My parents forced me to go to church every single Sunday (and attend various other church events) unless I was sick enough they would hold me back from school on a school day. I have only set foot in a church ONCE since I turned 18 and it was for my baby brother's baptism. My husband who is THOROUGHLY non-religious has been to church more times in the past decade than me. Forcing your child to stop an activity they love to force them to like church more is honestly only going to do the opposite. That child KNOWS why he's not receiving his allowance OR able to go to basketball.

As a mom of 3, I have told my kids to always defend themselves. Try to do it without violence and without stooping to their level in the beginning. If it continues, tell teachers, counselor, etc.. If there are no options left and there is violence, you give it right back to them and make it count. I feel pretty passionate about this subject bc I was bullied for being a huge tomboy weirdo with some intense ADHD growing up lol Once I turned 14, I started to embrace my feminine side and became more self aware. I got my first real boyfriend at 14. We ended up breaking up after 6 months and I was devastated. He started dating another girl at my school who was in my grade. She was one of those girls who always got into fights.. later on I found out she had a pretty rough home life and even emancipated herself at 16. For a solid week she constantly taunted me trying to pick a fight. She would stop me at breaks, while changing classes, and even while dumping my lunch tray. I did everything I could to avoid her and make it stop. It all came to a head one day while changing classes.. she had been relentless that day and I had already ran into her screaming at me 3 different times. She comes up to my locker and I told her “I don’t want to fight you.. please leave me alone”. She grabbed my arm and I blacked out. That’s how furious I was. When I finally came to, I had a handful of her hair in my hand, my books were thrown across the hall, and my best friend (who was standing right beside me) was crying. Lol Later she told me I scared her 😂 According to several people who saw the whole thing, I beat her ass basically. I am a VERY nonconfrontational person. It took a lot for me to get to that point. We both got suspended, I got grounded and had to work in my family’s chicken houses… though my mom (who knew everything) was very proud of me for defending myself. A few days later, she apologized to me and we actually became friends lol I even done her hair for her several times at the salon I use to work at.. Sorry this is so long.. but it showed me that sometimes people bully because of their own pain. Sometimes they’re just a holes. Regardless, don’t ever let someone run over you. Point blank.

I've had a kid try to kill me. I did not hit her or push her because I was a teen and she was younger (I was 13 and she was maybe 9-ish?) and also we were very close to the road; but she was choking me so I used a swear word instead and she took off screaming. A woman scolded me for that but I think if she was close enough to hear me when I had little to no air then she was close enough to have intervened and I wouldn't have had to resort to profanity. AITA?
Edit: It was dinner time and we were both called in. She didn't want to give my Nintendo 3DS Lite back so I tried to take it from her and she pounced on me.

He's 12 ans his brothers are 10 and 15, and he's been fiercely protective of both of them all his life. He's always been a big kid too so he's pretty intimidating, he's like a child bouncer. Omg the first story! my parents always told me “tell an adult, if that doesn’t work give a warning and then let them make the first move but you better finish it!” Annnddd I’m the middle child so I’m used to having to defend myself and my siblings so no what he told his kid is not wrong and the dad did a good job! Also, they need to have proper procedures in place, Epi pens and whatnot. When I first found out I had diabetes, all the teachers and parents and principal were taught by me and my parents how to take care of me and we also had epi pens and made aware of peoples allergies but of course I was born in 1990 so I’m old haha! Poor kiddo though I hope he’s doing better and has friends to sit with him! Love your guys show btw been binging lately!

14.00 Convincing someone that you have something that could hurt them even if its not is still battery. If the bully and the monitor knew that it was almond butter but convinced someone with an peanut allergy that it was peanut butter, the bully is willfully trying to terrorize the child and the monitor is complicit.

I’m currently 22 and when I was in elementary school over 10 years ago we had 1 student in the whole student body who was allergic to peanuts, and our schools solution was to make a peanut table! Not one table that’s peanut free, but all tables are peanut free except for one, if you brought peanut products from home you sat at that table to eat lunch, always full and having a good time, and the kid who was allergic to peanuts could sit anywhere else in the lunch room so he wasn’t automatically isolated! After a few years I think the peanut table was upgraded to two tables in order to accommodate the amount of kids eating peanut products and the amount that wanted to sit with their friends who were eating peanut products haha

The third story reminds me of when my grandma's friend was driving us to church when I was a kid. He took the freeway to get there faster and was driving in the fast lane while chatting to my grandma. Then he suddenly noticed our exit was quickly approaching and swings the wheel so that we swerve across 4 lanes of traffic and barely make it onto the exit. He didn't even check for other cars before driving across 4 lanes on the freeway. I felt like I had barely missed dying on the way to church. They kept talking like nothing happened, so I didn’t say anything.

Kids shouldn't be punished for defending themselves when schools won't. It's so much crap.

Oh yeah school staff are such unreasonable monsters a lot of the time, I remember in grade school I was bullied by the *teachers* and very specifically stalked and targeted by the principal. After all that I learned just to simply not rely on adults. I remember the shock I had when the principal of my junior high was like "why didn't you tell anyone you were being bullied? I wouldn't have let [student I injured] go on the field trip either, then!" and a teacher in the same junior high didn't turn me in or call my parents when I injured another kid as well, he just had me sit in the hall and never brought it back up.
Unfortunately, two nice staffers is not enough to undo all the abuse in your formative years.

I tried getting my partner into it, but he has a degree in criminal justice and couldn't get as into it as much since there are a lot of inconsisteniences with how real investigations go even though it's just a show. Reminded me of how my mom couldn't get into House because she works in a hospital and she was getting anxious about all the incorrect protocols and information they were showing. She would get stressed that we were learning inaccurate medical info and give us a rundown of all the unrealistic things in each episode so that we wouldn't accidentally learn something wrong. Only got through 2 episodes with her of House before she said no more. Lol. At least my partner enjoys Monk enough to keep watching it with me as long as we take breaks every once in a while.

The teacher who was trying to get me in trouble tried saying that i hit him unprompted when she only came into eyeshot once he was on the ground and without checking the cameras first. Their ok story time reminded me of the first time my parents took me and my brother to see snow. I was maybe 5 years old or so and my brother is a couple years older. As soon as we got out of the car in the snow, I tried throwing a snowball at him and he started crying. My parents were really mad and me and I was so confused why because I thought that's what you do in the snow. Turns out my 5 year old brain though a chunk of ice was a magically pre-made snow ball and threw it at my brother. They had to explain to me that you can't throw ice or it will hurt people. I felt so bad, but it was all forget by all of us including my brother by the time we actually got onto the slopes and started sledding. I think that might be one of my ealiest memories.

The damn kid went to the hospital for crying out loud and it wasn't even peanut butter it was wiped off peanut butter but still very much on his fingers and dipped his nasty little peanut fingers in his almond butter. The kid should've been sued, and the school and everyone. Everyone knew he was allergic but didn't care anyway and let it happen. If if the little boy didn't wipe his hands and just started to touch the allergic kid now he's covered and will most likely die because you can't just remove your skin at the snap of your fingers

My parents aren't super religious like their parents. My grandparents were Catholic and Christian so I was exposed to those religions. We would go to church on occasion but now I only go for my boyfriend because they're more religious than my family and go to church regularly. My family does still have a very short prayer before dinner to be thankful for the food we have, we celebrate Mardi Gras/Lent, Easter and Christmas but the religious connotations weren't shoved down my throat. It was just an excuse to have a fun time with family, give gifts and eat delicious food. My parents purposely didn't baptize me and my brother so we could have the freedom to choose our own religion. I am currently agnostic. I'd like to believe god exists and that there's a heaven and hell where good people go to a paradise and awful people get sent to hell. Whenever relatives and loved ones pass away, it gives me comfort thinking about my family, loved ones and dogs are in heaven together and that when I die, I'll maybe see them again one day however without proof or evidence of that being the case, the comfort is sometimes short lived but it's still good comfort. I'd like to think that whatever someone thinks the afterlife is, that's what happens when they die if you're a good person. I guess you could say I'm agnostic with more Catholic or Christian ideas about religion since it's what I was exposed to. My dad once dated a girl who was Buddist and so my dad told me about how Buddhism talks about how important life is even when it comes to small animals, bugs and such and how everything has some value/soul. That's how I was exposed to Buddhism. Through the Internet I've been exposed to other religions but nothing really clicks with me. There was a time I was interested in Paganism but that was just for fun kinda like horoscopes, stars and crystals. Mostly enjoy that stuff for fun and don't take it seriously. All this to say, NEVER EVER force religion on your children. That's a quick way for someone to resent god and religion so fast.

Teachers don't pay attention? If this kid has peanut butter it means they're in the lunchroom, which means there's probably no teachers anywhere around. Stop blaming teachers. Also, there's like 12 qualified teachers in an elementary school with 600 kids in it. What the hell do you want?

@@Kilotheros idk what school you went to where teachers weren’t the ones assigned to the lunchroom. Every school I’ve heard of teachers have lunch shifts they work where they monitor the kids. And outside of lunch this is still a problem where lots of teachers will just ignore kids being fully harassed and say “well it’s not my job” when it absolutely is a teacher is in charge of the children they are teaching that includes monitoring them

I've called and left a voicemail several times and I would love to chat with y'all and spill the tea ☕️🫖🍵 Love y'all and Big Protein❤!!! I listen to y'all everyday and it helps me decompress during my 1 hour commute to work, my lunch break, and my drive home. I even sometimes cook and clean listening to and laugh when y'all do the "Divorce! Divorce!" chant and the conspiracy tin foil hats (btw my parents are divorced and remarried and there is so much 🍵 ☕️🫖 !)
When y'all call do you use the voicemail number? Because I want to recognize and not block it as spam.
THANK YOU FOR ALL Y'ALL DO❤

Church situation is unfixable if the church isn’t good. If the church is a good church you find the a really nice older guy in the church (must be older than your Dad) who would be shocked and appalled at what your Dad is doing. Bonus points if he’s a lot more ‘manly’ than your Dad and/or he has a good reputation in the church. Once he’s heard of the situation he should be able to pull your Dad into a meeting with the men in your church and straighten him out. If it’s not possible to straighten him out though you have to be aware that your Dad might move your church to a worse church though. Risky move but might be worth it.
