I learnt something new yesterday and thought I’d share it with you all, if you’re not sure what a thick red line next to the kerb at a bus stop means, it means exactly the same thing as a thick yellow line, it’s just showing that it’s part of a red route, it means other vehicles are prohibited from stopping, only buses can stop, private hire vehicles can’t stop at 'bus stop clearways' marked with a wide yellow line by the kerb, on red routes both taxis and private hire vehicles can’t stop at bus stops marked with a wide red line by the kerb.

21:49 the chevron road markings means that you’re in a one way direction of flow part of the road, so there will be traffic on both sides of the chevron markings going in the same direction, the line closest to you always points in the direction of travel and it keeps you to your side, so, for example, if you’re on the left of the markings the lines point from bottom right to top left in the direction of travel and it’s telling you to keep to the left as there could be vehicles next to you, if you’re on the right of the markings the lines point from bottom left to top right in the direction of travel and it’s telling you to keep to the right as there could be vehicles next to you, if you see hatched road markings it means that you’re in a two way direction of flow part of the road, so there will be traffic on both sides of the hatched markings going in opposing directions, no matter which side of the markings you’re on the lines always point in the direction of travel and they always point from bottom right to top left and they’re telling you to keep to the left as there could be vehicles next to you, as per rule 130 of the Highway Code, if the area is bordered by a broken white line you shouldn’t enter the area unless you feel it is safe and necessary to do so, if the area is bordered by a solid white line you must not enter the area unless it’s an emergency, however, there is one exception, on a single carriageway at the end of an overtaking lane where 2 lanes reduce to 1 lane, you may cross the solid white line to enter a hatched area for any of the reasons mentioned for double white lines (entering and exiting adjoining premises or a side road, passing a stationary vehicle blocking the lane, overtaking a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle travelling at 10mph or less).
02:25 opening the window allows me to hear better, well done, that’s brilliant, it also works great when you’re at a closed junction where you can’t see very much, open the left side window to hear the left side, open the right side window to hear the right side.
At 6:10, she keeps to the right lane but the lane marking on the far right hand lane says “A4” and that’s to turn right as it says on the sign board but she then cuts to the left side to take the 3rd exit but on the sign board it doesn’t say “A4” which is the lane that she was on so shouldn’t that be a serious fault as she used the wrong lane and should’ve kept going right as she was in the A4 only lane or am I wrong?
just passed today!! thank you so so so much for all of your videos, i feel so much more confident in my abilities now compared to when i started. so much love to you 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Iman is a very good driver but just had a couple of unfortunate events which, had she thought about them, could have been avoided. I hope she did well on her test.
Does rule 130 of the Highway Code still apply in car parks? Can you cross a solid white line with hatched markings in a car park to enter and leave a parking space?
@clearview Driving. I hope you're doing well. I have a question for you regarding your experience as a driving instructor that I'm really curious about. Over the years, have you ever encountered situations where you had to advise a student that driving might not be the best option for them? If so, how do you approach such a sensitive topic, and what are the main reasons behind such a recommendation? Furthermore, have you ever suggested that a student switch from learning to drive a manual vehicle to an automatic? I imagine that some students might struggle with the complexities of manual driving and that an automatic vehicle could potentially make the learning process easier and less stressful for them. I would love to hear about any specific experiences or examples you can share (anonymously, of course) where these recommendations have helped a student either reconsider their approach to driving or make a more suitable choice for their situation. Your insights would be incredibly valuable and could offer a lot of perspective for those of us facing similar challenges.
when i did my mock test with my teacher he used a newer car to the one i drove out of lessons and I always did this when switching vehicles forgetting where it was as mine was quite old.
Can anyone answer? 1 - can you pass with a serious/dangerous (when I sat my test many moons ago 1 major meant fail) 2- if you do happen to have a serious or dangerous does the examiner keep letting you drive and explain at the end of do you pull over safely and the driving test stops there?
You cant pass with a serious or dangerous as you have just demonstrated you ain't safe to be on the road yet. They won't stop the test unless your driving is so bad that nobody is safe
Of course if you make a serious or a dangerous mistake you can’t pass your driving test as you’ve demonstrated that you’re not yet safe enough to be allowed to drive alone unattended, if you do make a serious or a dangerous mistake your driving test will keep on going until the end of the driving test, unless the driving examiner feels that he/she has no other choice but to terminate the driving test for everyone’s safety.

Ok, she did well. However, the serious fault she made got me a little concerned. Those traffic lights were green for a long time, yet she was approaching far too fast to even stop safely, which resulted in the driving instructor having to break really firm to avoid going into the junction. So right now, with her test, just around the corner, i'm thinking she should have a few extra lessons to try and correct those mistakes. She needs to work on her timing when it comes to slowing down for a junction at high speeds, especially when approaching the traffic lights. Timing is so important in those situations, so she needs to think a little more and try not to go too fast when approaching that particular junction

Mine is on Tuesday. I'm really trying to not think about it to much cause I know my nerves will get bad and ill fail because of it. Good luck!
Try not to dwell on small mistakes either I notice when I'm doing my lessons if I dwell or think about the small mistakes to much it ends up in me getting to flustered and I end up making bigger more serious mistakes
