A few weeks ago I had zero multitools. I bought the Bibury pro based off your recomendation, and I knew I was in trouble. Today in the post arrived a SOG PowerLitre, a Nextool Mini Sailor, and a Daicamping DL1. The SOG was slightly dissapointing based on the toolset and how fidly it is to access them, but I've been blown away with the quality of the rest. The Bibury is now a permanent resident in my work bag, and I don't see the Nextool leaving my 5th pocket anytime soon. Thanks a lot! I feel like I've got superpowers now haha
I've been enjoying the Nextool Mini Sailor (pliers version). That said, just yesterday I needed to tighten the screws on my basement stairs railing and the flathead was too narrow, the reach was a little short, and I feared it was going to bend. So I went upstairs and got my Victorinox, which worked better with its large flathead. Also, it annoys me that to deploy the scissors it breaks my thumbnail every time, and then doesn't have a file to fix that. lol But I do like the tool overall.
It's the same with me. I had an old leatherman pst and now since december I have a powerpint, wave clone, the ks2, a gerber dime and a rocktol knife (that's like half of a wave. Which I love btw)

s501u scissors with utility blade seems like a good travel item. Remove your utility blade then get another at destination. Scissors are number 2 most important item in a multitool today.
respectfully, there's very little chance that would pass the average joe TSA agent comfortability test. doesn't matter if you demonstrate you've removed the blade and that scissors don't count if it gives them a bad feeling. of course, there are probably a lot of agents who would let it pass, as they should, but all it takes is one critical thinking challenged individual and it's gone. for me it's not worth losing the money to someone's stupidity, or creating an unnecessary situation
I agree. A lot of people I know complain about it's boxiness. But I think that's part of the charm. That's the reason I like it. Also, it fits great in a small kit box due to it's shape.
Hey, Dom, hope you’re feeling better. I really like what ROXON has been doing and will get some of their products real soon. I was looking at ROXON’s website before this video and saw that they offer free shipping for all sales over $20 and a 25 year warranty on all their products. If their warranty is any good they will be in direct competition with Leatherman. I really look forward to their new modular multitool as well and hope they keep expanding their selection. Thanks for all your work and I hope you get better soon.
I wish roxon still continued with the 1/4" kits while having the 4mm ones. But well roxon is stepping up their game and this is a very good sign. If I have a complaint or more a minor issue it's about the glass breaker. I don't like the fact multitool manufacturers put those in almost every tool while a tiny hammer would be more useful. It sure won't replace a good hammer but as an improvised striking device this would be more useful and still be useable to break glass.
Super excited. Picked up the regular for just $26 for myself and the elite for my father, who is very blue color and recently lost his swiss army knife. He LOVES the scissors on those so I can't wait to see his reaction to getting this beast!
5cr15 is roughly in the same ball park as 1.4116, around 0.5%C and 15%Cr, I know 4116 sounds fancier but let's be real, it comes down to heat treats. and highly chances multitool company outsources their heat treatment, I wouldn't be surprise if 5cr from Chinese brands out-performed 4116 from the same brand, after all more common and familiar a steel is to the heat treatment factory, more consistent the quality. Whoever they are, they probably cook tons and tons of 5cr every day and get pretty good at it. that's just my knife nerd talk.
They should put a flathead on top of the saw. I can think of a few things I might want that sharp point for but a flathead would be so much more preferable.
Thanks for another excellent review. I bought the Roxon KS2E a few months ago (largely based on your review, thank you) and I have been carrying it daily since. My impressions? The tool set is excellent and I love the form factor (people do not know it's a tool). The scissors cut through lots of materials (cordage, hard plastic, etc.) no problem. They are also comfortable when applying torque. The blade and reamer / awl are durable and extremely sharp (need to be careful for one-had deployment). Have not used saw. Screwdriver works fine and I have done light prying with can opened tool (probably not recommended). Be aware this tool is thicker than your average small pocket tool and it's not light. However, daily carry lose in my pocket has not been too noticeable (the pocket clip is basically useless being both too tight and short. All in all, very happy with purchase... lots of daily utility for the money, and I like the look.
Got the T4 a few weeks ago. Yes it's pricy but great tool. Smooth, great feel, one hand action for all tools, 25 year warranty. And the pry bar is also their box cutter, works well. Good EDC size. $70 for lifetime quality.
After watching this, I picked up a KS2E to add to my pile. Nice little tool, a bit awkward in the hand due to the pretty harsh angles, could be a little more rounded, but nothing terrible. One issue I found though was the detent on the knife blade. It was so tight I could barely get the knife open one handed. I ended up taking the scales off and filing the thing down slightly (basically simulating wear). Easy enough to do, just three torx screws (one 6 and two 8s) and it was the first thing under the blade. Still, a bit annoying that I had to do it. But, for $38.00, a very good little tool.
I am getting the Roxon KS2 elite soon. D2 steel on the blade is great to see, superior steel on tools, and of course the scissors look great in all the reviews, along with the extra bit kit. As for them lacking pliers, I don't care. I just got the Knipex Cobra XS (4 inch / 10 cm) pliers, and also plan on 4 inch Irwin vise grip pliers ($16). They (Irwin) also have 5 1/2" needle nose vise grips on Amazon if anyone interested. I'll be getting 4 inch carbon steel file (around 6 inches with handle) soon. So I'm making my own little tool kit to carry, since no company makes multitool with carbon steel files... YET? 🤔
This is a thing I've been considering since a while because multitools tend to have electrician pliers but without insulation which make them not that great. I mean they are somewhat good at pinching but not that great, they are terrible with nuts but better than nothing and for cutting and stripping wires, they work but you can find something better. So yeah aside of a few multitools most of them suck in general and the few multitools with those very interesting pliers have either a lack of features or you have a tool set that somewhat suck. So you end up to either get a somewhat good pliers based with a good tool set and make a kit around it but you have to add anyways pliers. Or you have to consider a pliers less MT but sometimes it's better having 2 One with the blades and the other with the drivers.
@@maxlvledc We can thank the limitations on the multitool I had (cheap $20 bibury) from a couple of years back. 😋 I tried filing down a nail outside in my back shed and the nail won the battle, making my file a bit smoother because it is softer steel than the nail was. 😬 So that made me buy a small carbon steel file on Amazon, but it's 8 inches altogether, and now I want smaller to fit in my pocket organizer. Then I tried loosening a rusted bolt on my old mountain bike with the needle nose pliers, but the handles on pliers were opened too wide and could not get good leverage, on top of the teeth of the pliers not being that great to begin with for that task. I don't fault the multitool, I knew it had limitations and I found them, so now I'm just seeking something else to make up for such limitations. I'm really here to push companies to include a carbine steel file to their multitools. The first one who does it will probably be a big hit. As I've said in other threads, I also wish they'd make a multitool with plier head like the water pump pliers (on Knipex cobra, for example), with good, sharp teeth to grip effectively. Try to contact those companies you know and nudge them a bit with some hints. 😁
I got my son the smaller Roxon M2 for Christmas and he loves it! So do I. I haven't picked one up for myself, but I will be buying another Roxon in the future.
Really great info here. That knife with the scissor is really cool especially with the hot swap blades. I have been going through quite the [expensive] journey trying to nail down my edc and how to carry it and this gives me some more options. Keep up the great work and thanks for your hard work and time!
I bought a Phantom a couple months ago. The sheath that comes with it is absolute garbage but the tool itself has become one of my favorites. It's a good multitool and this is coming from a Leatherman fanboy.
Considering how crowded the field is, it's amazing how many niches there still are to fill. I've had the basic Roxon knife/scissors for a few years (a rec from Izzy Swan the woodworker). Aside from not being super refined or ergonomic, my only big complaint has been the softness of the steel. If they fixed that and the ergos are improved, they could have a whole stable of winners. It seems like going (at least) full D2 on everything could be the way to go, but I'm no expert. All of these companies have essentially free market research thanks to guys like you and reviews from customers on thousands of sites, so we should be getting exactly what we want at this point. The knife world has pretty much done it. Now it's looking like multi-tool manufacturers are listening and stepping up. Thanks for vids. Keep up the good work. 🤙
@@JOJO-kh9ck yeah still holding up great. 0 issues with sturdiness and durability. I like the scissors more than on a victorinox. Pocketclip + form factor are very nice too
@@cullateralGreat to hear.... Definitely getting one...I liked the simple and non-knife look of it so I can use it in front of people in the city...I only had one doubt about the durability compared to victorinox or Leatherman... Thanks for letting me know...
About the KS2E, I couldn't agree more. So much so that I bought one to replace my old SAK. The locking tools are a huge selling point for me and because of that I reach for the KS2E way more often than I did with my SAK. Now I am thinking to pull the trigger on their Roxon S801S Storm, one I think you haven't reviewed yet I believe. I am waiting to see if they'll upgrade it though.
I just purchased the roxon on the back of your first look at the tool. Currently edc a victorinox and I love it but a liner lock and those scissors can't wait to get my hands on it.
These look excellent, particularly the first one. I find knife and scissors are my most commonly used items, followed by something for prying-poking. Having a bunch of random tools I don’t often need is not really the point of an edc tool like this (at that point, may as well carry a full-size multitool, which is not much larger). But having big scissors along with a knife that has easy blade change is extremely practical.
For the past almost two years now, I've been carrying the original Roxon KS but I swapped the blade and ground down the box cutter attachment so it fit. Finally they're offering it modularly.
Something not often mentioned in videos, but that I have learned from reading commnets, is that you are often more likely to lose your tool vs using the warranty. Most tradesmen and daily carriers wait for warranty a bit, and end up losing the tool or getting it confiscated before they send it in. Keep this in mind when weighing the warranty. It probably isn't so necessary on anything that isn't hard use.
Nice video, very informative thank you 👏🇨🇦. Unfortunately up here in Canada you cannot buy any of the new folding knife models that use interchangeable blades (and this has been going on for the last year or more) or other newer models, but to our friends in the south and elsewhere; congratulations 👍. P.S. I have been told that many and I mean many folding knives of all kinds are no longer available on Amazon Canada, so maybe that is the reason as our knife laws are rather like those in Europe now; not as strict but getting there 🤔.
I get that better knife steels are designed to last longer, but some Victorinox Swiss Army knives have been in constant use for over 50 yrs and are still going strong, people have been edc’ing them since way before edc was a thing. If SAK’s are stropped regularly they stay razor sharp for ages before they actually need resharpening.
@@maxlvledc I agree have a few Roxon tools, will probably get more, I love what they are doing, really looking forward to the release of the fully modular multitool, at last we will be able to have a multitool with no bottle cap lifter ✅🍾 💥💥💥
Hey Dom quick question. Could the KS2 elite fit in the left side pocket of the Arc Boulder? Checking to see if I could get the KS2 and the knipex pliers to fit in the wallet. Thanks for any information you can provide!
I've got the original S501 without the changable blade (also it's 5Cr). Really wished I waited for the S501U because it cost almost the same with better steel and modular design. But apart from that I don't regret getting the S501 because that pair of scissors has been very useful and the blade is still a pleasure to use.
I have 2 of the original S501😂 and no regrets. Even with all its flaws, it has stood up to daily use for 3 years and the spare is still sitting BNIB😅 The new S501U is impressive but I'll miss the super easy to flick open blade on the old S501
I have a lot of Roxon knives/tools, but I REALLY like the S501 and reach for it the most often. That being said, I just received the S501U yesterday and my original S501 is now in my "Drawer of probably never use again". One thing you didn't mention that is a big plus/change is the scissors can now be taken apart for proper sharpening.
Thanks for the reviews. I've been waiting for years for an upgrade to my daily carry, the KS (S501). I bought a spare of the old version despite its flaws because it is still so darn useful! Good to see that the new S501U (should have named it the KS2 instead of that boxy tool) has resolved the poor steel, made the scissors pivot with a screw instead of a rivet (so it can be taken apart for sharpening!) and included the changable blades system so we're not stuck with the terrible tanto. However, one of the most enjoyable part of the old KS, was the super smooth blade deployment using the thumbstud, which I dont think is possible with the blade change system 😢 I wonder if we can add a thumbstud onto the blade and mod in some bearings for some 1 handed fidget action?😅
I wish Leatherman would take note of the scissor design on the S501U. I’ve always envisioned such a design added to the skeletool. This design seems a perfect match for the skeletool and would make it the perfect everyday light use multitool.
Would love to see the modularity of that pocket knife on a full on pliers based multi tool. Taking out the blade and saw adding a file or razor blade attachment would be great for people who fly a lot.
Roxon are well and truly upping their game and thankfully keeping prices reasonable and affordable! Companies like Leatherman aren’t really offering customers value for money so companies like Roxon, Bibury and NexTool are filling the void!
Max, I see Roxon has a 16 in 1 hammer multi tool. I’ve always thought a hammer multi tool was a good idea but I’ve never seen one that didn’t like cheap. Would love a review of the Roxon tool and other good hammer multi tools you could find. The first multi-tool I ever discovered was fence pliers… a hammer, pliers, wire cutters and staple claw all in one. I mean come on that’s a lot of utility!
You mentioned it was hard to get the whistle/ferrorod out on the new Flash. It actually comes out quite easily if you use one thumb to push down on the the rod end side and the other thumb to pull up on the whistle side. This version is way better than the original for tight tolerances overall. Less side to side wiggle and the ferrorod stays in like it should.
I have the ks2 because I wanted to try a kit without a plier based multitool and it kind of works, just use knipex pliers and have a sort of EDC 1/4" system and you have a somewhat complete micro toolbox. I would love to see roxon making a sort or super phantom with two swappable blades and a 1/4" drive option. A sheath with a pouch for 2 - 3 blades and the kit. So people can have a multitool with 2 modular slots.
Swiss Army will always win if the goal is to keep a slim multitool in your pocket. The modular system of Roxon is cool, but it’s a “thick boi” as the kids say. I need the thickness of a 3 layer SAK at most if I, actually carrying it as an EDC. If I’m carrying in a backpack or if it’s sitting in a drawer until I need it, I want something big and strong like a Leatherman. The Roxon may be a good fit under this circumstances.
Looking good, i like the idea of making a "bladeless" multitool using that weird strap cutter tool thing. I just wish they made versions with non locking blades for the UK/European markets. Pretty much why im sticking to victorinox, spyderco slipits and the GOAT multitool. Thanks for the upload. Cheers 🍻
Would love to see a Roxon KS2 elite with a set of plyers AND scissors... don't need the saw and probably could live with just the knife, scissors, plyers, and screw drivers... something like the old Leatherman juice or a larger Squirt in the KS2 elite setup
I got the KS2E for my birthday yesterday. The lever to lift tools is easy to move up with my thumb. But to unlock it, moving the lever down is much stiffer. Is that normal? Or is mine broken?
I'm really interested in the KS2 Elite. I've been fairly unimpressed with Nextool's lineup, despite their cutting performance. They're just not made from reliable materials. Roxon has a 10 year warranty too. Even though I've been burned by these cheap tools before, I think I'm going to give it a shot.
Can you speak at all to an improved fit and finish on the Flash? I have one, loved it, and then one slight drop onto concrete appears to have permanently loosened the side implements to the point of swinging freely. I've tried tightening the torx screws on the frame to no avail. Now my Flash sits in my reserve pile.
i misplaced my original KS2. So i bought the KS2 Elite as replacement. The scissor and the D2 blade are much better - sharper and cut better. I noticed the D2 blade and scissor are a bit more shinny than the older ones. The scissor on the KS2 Elite alone is already a deciding factor way over the T4. Even the scissor on my Arc is inferior when compared to the one on the KS2 E. How i wish roxon also upgrade the steel on the S802s to D2 and Din 1416.
I still lack the multi-tools(atleast the one with bits etc) that have the possibility to fix itself... I have not seen any multi-tool yet that have an piece that let you use the bits without the tool that allows you to fix the multi-tool itself... how hard can it be to add a "t-shaped like tool "to allow you to use the bits to fix your tool in field....?
Great video! Question: can you switch the pocket clip on the KS2 Elite to the non-blade side? EDIT - I just removed the pocket clip. Also, love everything about the knife except the bit retention. The iFixit bits on Amazon connect with the magnet much more strongly.
I have found one fault with the s501u. I don’t like that there is no tension in the blade in the closed position. I can flick the knife open with my wrist. If not careful and constantly monitored, I fear that the blade might slip open without notice like the Leatherman Bond issue.
@@maxlvledc yeah. It doesn’t just slip open, but it doesn’t take much to get it out. It definitely doesn’t snap back in when you pull it out just a little and let go like most knives. I’ve never owned a knife that didn’t have some kind of tension that would snap it back closed when pulled out slightly.
@@maxlvledc upon further inspection, I see that it is a ball detent and only on one side. The ball and indentation on the blade are not that big. So, I can see why the detent isn’t very strong.
Yep you fell for the marketing, because the roxon is a superior tool in every way that matters. Inline and locking tools, easy to deploy, decent and good enough steel, with the right assortment of tools
Have you seen the new weltool t1 Pro TAC? It's different than the original t1 pro EDC. It's the one they should have made first. I bought the EDC but haven't been happy with the modes. I just bought the weltool W2 LEP. It's a little bigger than the t1 pro edc, but it has 160,000 candelas! And it looks like it has enough spill to be useful, especially for a lep flashlight. This will be my first lep light. I'm hoping it works well. It comes on Saturday. Wasn't sure if you had heard of these two. So I figured I'd pass it along.
Got the KS2 elite after this review and I love it. Might even replace my customized victorinox compact as EDC. Thnx for the thorough reviews and for sharing your passion with us! 👍🏻🫡
I have the ks2 elite. It's a cool tool (odd choice to include a saw imo).. I don't know if you noticed, but they screwed the pooch on the ruler. It's marked in 1/10 of an inch instead of 1/8, so you can't even measure nuts and bolts.. minor point but kinda funny, obviously the designer bas never actually seen an inch ruler lol.
Odd indeed, the saw I mean. I sent them an email on that subject with a couple of suggestions and they were very responsive. We may have a mark II one day :)
@@yooyist imo, make can opener part of the can opener/bottle opener tool into a package opener or hook cutter and have the saw be a flat blade screw driver... what's your ideas?
First multitool looks very interesting to me, I really wish have some sort of SAK with scissors and file(no blade, screwdriver). My main knife literally boxcutter for 5$ even i have good folder (zt0566, 940 osborne) i use just boxcutter. And i lack of file now, i lost my previous multitool somewhere. So having scissors and file in one pack it’s right just to me.
But they still haven't gotten to a standard 1/4" bit yet which is driving me crazy especially since the adapter bit they supplied fell off during use and is not easy to find any where else.
Hi! First of all thanx for the reviews and comparisons. Very detailed and helpful! Would you say this outstand the swisstech 11 in one? For me I liked the ST a bit more because it seems like it has a slightly bigger knife and saw and even though it's a bit longer it is slimmer than the roxon. But the roxons blade on the other hand is D2... Would you say for a non hard user the D2 it a deal breaker? And again, you are doing a fantastic job!
Hmmmm, I did an update video on this. Both are quite good, but also different..the K2SE is $38 but the other is less than $20...tough call either way. Both are good.
Usually im that guy who thinks that if possible, one should buy the tool from the manufacturer that invented it instead of the cheap knockoff of the same exact thing. In this case though, I did order the KS2E because like you said, Roxon did it better. At half price. Its no longer a knockoff, its the next step in the evolution and a step forward. If LM/Victorinox feels this one as a slap in the face, im perfectly fine with it because they really need to step up their game soon. This is not the same as buying the cheapest, crappiest version of the real deal, this IS the real deal imo.
Victorinox is becoming a fashion brand, they've been withholding custom SAKs for years knowing it's what their customers want. Leatherman isn't any better, resting on their laurels and discontinuing products people like instead of improving them. The anti Chinese sentiment is really stupid, at the end of the day you buy the best product, period.
Ordered my ks2e last week. Here in Europe only available at Ali for €45. Maybe that's something for Roxon to improve? Better availability outside of US and China...still think it's worth it!
It's listed at £38 GBP on Amazon. Pretty happy with mine after a little clean up with a diamond file to remove some missed burrs on the back of the blade.
Just got a gerber prybrid for 19.99 and ks2e for 38.99, still cheaper than Leatherman and I think there is real room for discussion on the value proposition there because I dont think Leatherman competes on tool set or quality compared to the set.
I need someone to sanity check my issue I'm using the utility knife combo with Roxon phantom with a Stanley Fatmax utility blade and I can not seem to seat the blade quite well and if it does it only sits 1 way defeating the purpose of it being "double sided" anyone else find this issue? of course the "SK5" Roxon puts into the their knife? box fits so I would assume any chinesium utility blades will work as well but "how well"
Doesn't look like they offer a non locking option, ergo a no go for the UK... :( Shame otherwise I'd be interested, but not worth the risk carrying a locking knife these days.
@@maxlvledc I've watched some of your other vids. The Roxon products look interesting, I'd like to get some. Hope they introduce a slip joint version at some point.
Really exciting direction Roxon is taking, but modular system is still too clunky for me and not ergonomic in the hand. With bad ergonomics, they feel cheap, and of course they are inexpensive. I appreciate and carry a lot of expensive knives because of the ergonomics and smoothness. These aren't there yet.
true, BUT It does make the tool very very ergonomic when being used. I didn't notice too much hastle rotating the handle to open it. Its not exactly a tactical knife after all.
I'll have to check that out. The Knife Steel Nerds channel had positive results about 8CR. I often carry some budget Spydercos in 8CR and find it to be fine for EDC. I think people have been brainwashed into thinking everything must be a super steel. I see channels talk down about VG10 which is an excellent EDC steel.
@@franticflintstone7999 I'm at the point where I just stop watching videos when they get into the steel quality claims. Max does it and it's just annoying.

Whoever they are, they probably cook tons and tons of 5cr every day and get pretty good at it.
that's just my knife nerd talk.
fair points, I wonder if the grain structure on 4116 is more consistent though?
They should put a flathead on top of the saw. I can think of a few things I might want that sharp point for but a flathead would be so much more preferable.
Wow! Very interesting! I have never been a big fan of Roxon. You gave me something to think about! Thank you!
I also like the form bc it didnt look like a multitool... 😅 just simple things which was stick to my keys everyday.
YET? 🤔
hmm, like your ideas.
great info- roxon is really doing great things
I got my son the smaller Roxon M2 for Christmas and he loves it! So do I. I haven't picked one up for myself, but I will be buying another Roxon in the future.
have the ks2e use it all the time to fix my bike with this tool, totally agree great tool.
Really great info here. That knife with the scissor is really cool especially with the hot swap blades. I have been going through quite the [expensive] journey trying to nail down my edc and how to carry it and this gives me some more options. Keep up the great work and thanks for your hard work and time!
Roxon Rocks..! For EDC, Camping & Hunting. Great affordable multiple usages tools.
🤙
I told them they need to do a single knife pack thats in S35VN or something.
That roxon looks pretty nice
Im glad i got my t4 when you told is they were discontinuing the red color, cuz them being 70 dollars now is outrageous
Bought the ks2e on sale last year. Loving it. Agree about the thumbstud
Is it still good??How sturdy and durable it is compared to victorinox??
@@JOJO-kh9ck yeah still holding up great. 0 issues with sturdiness and durability. I like the scissors more than on a victorinox. Pocketclip + form factor are very nice too
@@cullateralGreat to hear.... Definitely getting one...I liked the simple and non-knife look of it so I can use it in front of people in the city...I only had one doubt about the durability compared to victorinox or Leatherman... Thanks for letting me know...
Superb video! Love it! Thanks for this great video and all you do.
Nice! You should do a competition between the ks2 elite, field master, and T4 doing everyday tasks. I especially want to see the scissor comparison.
good idea, but literally we could just do fieldmaster and KS2E. The T4 at 70 would NEVER be a consideration for me.
Great video, once more. I must say, my opinion about Roxo has changed for the positive. LM, still leading above Roxon, but better than Gerber.
Did you test the scissors of the KS2? If not, could you do an updated version of testing scissors?
I absolutely loved those videos, mate.
scissors work AMAZINGLY well, at least on my unit. nice part is that it has a screw adjustment if needed.
Everything works really well with the KS2E, scissors especially !
Dont get me wrong, Vic is the GOAT. But, credit what Roxon is doing is definitely exciting.
@@maxlvledc I agree have a few Roxon tools, will probably get more, I love what they are doing, really looking forward to the release of the fully modular multitool, at last we will be able to have a multitool with no bottle cap lifter ✅🍾 💥💥💥
Well I suppose that virtually any part of a multitool is a cap lifter really 😜
@@MrDkgio it does seem to be the one essential function that must be present in all tools :)
Even with all its flaws, it has stood up to daily use for 3 years and the spare is still sitting BNIB😅
The new S501U is impressive but I'll miss the super easy to flick open blade on the old S501
However, one of the most enjoyable part of the old KS, was the super smooth blade deployment using the thumbstud, which I dont think is possible with the blade change system 😢
I wonder if we can add a thumbstud onto the blade and mod in some bearings for some 1 handed fidget action?😅
Victorinox upgrading blade steel to 14C28N seems like a natural progression and would keep them on top if the game.
1000%
I mean come on that’s a lot of utility!
not a good idea, imo.
im selecting my fist multi tool and thank to you im seriously considering the ks2e.
BEST TOOL EVER FOR THE MONEY NO QUESTION 👍🏻
Cheers 🍻
most knife companies realize that the EU market is so against them, its not worth devoting too.
Police checking this never gonna happen.
The elite version is definitely more compelling to me now than the Leatherman or a any standard SAK
Would love to see a Roxon KS2 elite with a set of plyers AND scissors... don't need the saw and probably could live with just the knife, scissors, plyers, and screw drivers... something like the old Leatherman juice or a larger Squirt in the KS2 elite setup
Been watching a ton of your content, thank you! I’m between the sog powerpint and the roxon sk2 elite, may just have to get both, your thoughts?
so proud of roxon man
I got the KS2E for my birthday yesterday.
Hmm, seems like a warranty claim..it looks mostly identical though, outside of metal improvements
i misplaced my original KS2.
Hey, what would you choose between the KS2E or Roxon's M3 multitool with scissors?
The first company to launch a button lock multitool will dominate the market. Let's see who goes for it.
Wish you chucked the boker tech tool series into the review...
Leatherman uses 420hc, while Roxon is using 8cr13mov. The latter is generally and usually better than 420hc.
Ive got the pocket knife with most of the replaceable blades. For 120'ish ive got a dozen different knives
Great video! Question: can you switch the pocket clip on the KS2 Elite to the non-blade side? EDIT - I just removed the pocket clip. Also, love everything about the knife except the bit retention. The iFixit bits on Amazon connect with the magnet much more strongly.
Sadly no, even though it makes more sense on that side.
I wonder how the M2 compares to the upgraded KS2E now...
It would appear that the KS2E is NOT available on Amazon
I have found one fault with the s501u. I don’t like that there is no tension in the blade in the closed position. I can flick the knife open with my wrist. If not careful and constantly monitored, I fear that the blade might slip open without notice like the Leatherman Bond issue.
really?? my detent was fairly good, I wonder if thats a QC issue.
Maybe I’m a brand snob or collector, but I’d save for the leatherman / SAK. 🤷🏻♂️.
Yep you fell for the marketing, because the roxon is a superior tool in every way that matters. Inline and locking tools, easy to deploy, decent and good enough steel, with the right assortment of tools
Can the knife on the ks2 elite be used for self-defense?
D2 and locking tools... sold. I hate when tools fold up on my fingers. That's why I don't have any slip joint knives.
I will look into it asap!
Got the KS2 elite after this review and I love it. Might even replace my customized victorinox compact as EDC. Thnx for the thorough reviews and for sharing your passion with us! 👍🏻🫡
I bought the cyber tool L and removed the pliers layer. But this roxon ks2e is tempting. You never did show how the bits are used
I have the ks2 elite. It's a cool tool (odd choice to include a saw imo).. I don't know if you noticed, but they screwed the pooch on the ruler. It's marked in 1/10 of an inch instead of 1/8, so you can't even measure nuts and bolts.. minor point but kinda funny, obviously the designer bas never actually seen an inch ruler lol.
omg that is funny as hell, I need to mention that to him.
@@hrmIwonder amazingly, the same as yours actually ! Great minds I guess...
@@yooyist heck yeah, nice!
Victorinox has that old school vibe for sure if thats your thing
First multitool looks very interesting to me, I really wish have some sort of SAK with scissors and file(no blade, screwdriver). My main knife literally boxcutter for 5$ even i have good folder (zt0566, 940 osborne) i use just boxcutter. And i lack of file now, i lost my previous multitool somewhere.
So having scissors and file in one pack it’s right just to me.
But they still haven't gotten to a standard 1/4" bit yet which is driving me crazy especially since the adapter bit they supplied fell off during use and is not easy to find any where else.
roxon sells them on their site for $5 I see. also they are available on amazon.
@@maxlvledc thanx man! i think ill add the extra few $ for the roxon. and again, awsome work! keep on! 🙏
Wouldn't the D2 be a corrosion problem if used in as an outdoors alternative to the Huntsman?
sure, but I've seen plenty of people use carbon steel blades in the outdoors that they maintain with mineral oil etc.
Maybe it's got something to do with EU then... @@scottshaw1310

Just got a gerber prybrid for 19.99 and ks2e for 38.99, still cheaper than Leatherman and I think there is real room for discussion on the value proposition there because I dont think Leatherman competes on tool set or quality compared to the set.
I need someone to sanity check my issue I'm using the utility knife combo with Roxon phantom with a Stanley Fatmax utility blade and I can not seem to seat the blade quite well and if it does it only sits 1 way defeating the purpose of it being "double sided" anyone else find this issue? of course the "SK5" Roxon puts into the their knife? box fits so I would assume any chinesium utility blades will work as well but "how well"
My Ks2 have just arrived.
the KS2 or KS2E ??
@@maxlvledc elite version for sure.
Doesn't look like they offer a non locking option, ergo a no go for the UK... :( Shame otherwise I'd be interested, but not worth the risk carrying a locking knife these days.
I'll ask them to make one...it's a good idea. Only issues is they would have to also make the reamer non-locking
@@maxlvledc I've watched some of your other vids. The Roxon products look interesting, I'd like to get some. Hope they introduce a slip joint version at some point.
Did someone tested that steel?
Really exciting direction Roxon is taking, but modular system is still too clunky for me and not ergonomic in the hand. With bad ergonomics, they feel cheap, and of course they are inexpensive. I appreciate and carry a lot of expensive knives because of the ergonomics and smoothness. These aren't there yet.

6:50 The clip is on the wrong side
true, BUT It does make the tool very very ergonomic when being used. I didn't notice too much hastle rotating the handle to open it. Its not exactly a tactical knife after all.
Leatherman really needs to check their prices…

Outdoors55 testing of 8cr vs a "supersteel" makes me laugh at all the steel snob shit. the 'super steel' performed *exactly* the same as 8cr.
