I did not test the battery specifically, but when I first started the test the new ipad had a battery reading of 75% and the air 2 at 73%, at the end of the tests the new ipad dropped to 55% and the air 2 dropped to 53%, so I think there is not much difference between the two.

Thank you so much for making this video! I have looked at so many videos and this is the best at speed comparison. All I really wanted to see was the opening speed of word on the new iPad. I didn't think anyone would do this but you did! Thanks. At the Apple Store they have a demo version of word which will not give accurate opening speed results.
is there some much diffirence while reading on ibooks (related lack of lamination and anti-reflective coating) ?
I passed on the iPad Air 2 for the 2017 iPad for several reasons. First, a laminated screen means less glare, but that isn't very meaningful if you're using your iPad indoors. Second, the speed upgrade on the 2017 is significant - and will keep your speeds fast for years. Third, I'll keeping my device in a case, so the thinness isn't an issue.

uhm the iPad 2017 had an unlaminated Display while the Air 2 had a laminated Display. The whole iPad line up until last year was a downgrade from the Air 2 except Performance. Even the new "iPad" STILL hasnt gotten a laminated Display.. Thank got the Airs kept it. I payed 459€ on Release for the Air 2 with all the Power and Features today the entry iPad has that Price and 8 years later lacks some features and the thinness..

I have the ipad air 2 for a couple of years now. Good to know the latest ipad not named pro isn't that much better. Never thought an ipad would last so long when phones go to shit so quick

IV always been a android fan forever and was thinking of getting an I pad the only problem is it would still be upgrading to an android phone due to being cheaper, will it be worth me getting an iPad ?? would be using for getting games,web browser,RUclips all the normal stuff not watching films tho, so mainly games and music of RUclips, are the apps like android etc I know you can't use 3rd party ??? or shall I just get the Lenovo tab 4 pro ????

Anthony, kinda but however since the display is not laminated on the new 2017 ipad, its more repairable so i dont really see it as a negative. It cost like 100+ dolars more to repair ipad pro or air 2. But its kinda subjective too

How considerably significant is the lack of anti reflective coating ? Is it visible ?
r Negoro it's only visible in the outside or in super reflective rooms. If you are just using it indoors then you shouldn't notice a difference at all

Do you recommend me buying a mini 4 for 2017? Or buy the new one?
The only reason I would buy the mini 4 right now is weight and portability :) The mini 4 does have a better screen than the new ipad and air 2, but I think the size and processing power just cannot be matched by the mini 4
That weight & portability are significant. The Mini 4 is still plenty fast enough & so much more handy for popping in a small bag to take out with you. I use the Air 2 & Mini 4 on a daily basis & don't notice a performance difference. Sadly no Mini Pro/5 from Apple. I think they are losing the compact tablet market if they give up on the 7.9" format.

Great video! Could you please also do a GPU benchmark like 3DMark on both iPads? Because Geekbench and AnTuTu are primarily CPU benchmarks to my knowledge.
Dont expect too much. The A9 GPU its like 10-15% better
You know the CPU is 10-15% better, there are certain areas where the GPU in A9 is worse than A8x

I've tried 4 of these.All had stuttering issues in ALL games.Most notably in games with scrolling.There are videos on youtube (not by me ) showing the issue.The stuttering happens every 5 seconds or so,as if some process is kicking in.It's like clockwork,i could actually time the intervals between each micro-stutter.Not sure if this has anything to do with having an iPhone chipset running at iPad resolution.
Peronally i would avoid this iPad if you're into gaming.Or at the very least try before you buy.Hugely disappointed with this iPad.

RockSHOMA | 2017 iPad has warmer colours, therefore can appear more colourful, also, the brighter display is beautiful specially in low light environment.

Ipad air 2 and ipad pro are the best ipad
You can see the air gap on the newer iPad because it's not laminated. The color accuracy is about the same but I notice the newer model is much brighter.
Shellyman Vol.2 No, the new ipad is better color saturated not the same as the ipad air 2. You can tell that when he plays the movie trailer. And yeah the ipad 2017 is 25% brighter which makes a huge difference at least for me. When he plays the super Mario game just look at the red and the newer ipad is so much more brighter. Nontheless these ipads are both great devices capable of any task thrown at them for now.
J-HOPE AKA THE ONE WHO HAD NO LINES IN SPRING DAY Yeah, I noticed that few weeks ago. If you stare at the wallpaper on the iPads, you see more green on the newer iPad than the Air 2. The display not even that bad as people seemed.

WARNING - This new iPad has stuttering/lag issues in ALL games.Glaringly obvious in 2D games with scrolling.I've had mine replaced & same happens with the replacement.

Air 2. About the same speed performance in a superior format & if you purchase 2nd hand you'll get it a bit cheaper.
Rare VHS uploads why air pad 2? The new iPad 2017 seem to be very faster on the open/close app test... Or not? It has a great value for money and it is the latest one.
I prefer the slim design & use mine outside quite a lot so that anti reflective glare is a bonus. Plus the Air 2 is plenty fast enough, if I want 'power' I'll still go to the desktop PC. Apple hasn't sold me on the tablet as a laptop idea.
For those of u who want to switch to iPad 2017 from iPad Air 2 and think u are upgrading your actually downgrading because the Air 2 is Thinner,display is better, and it’s faster!

i barely play games, but surely less lag & less app crashing is the most helpful thing to me.
I think you shouldn't worry too much, both ipads perform similarly in real life. I have a hard time believing you need to open 30 apps 2 times in 10 mins like I did in the comparison :)

Not worth "updating" if you have Air2 :) i know, brighter display (but not laminated) in the new iPad, a little bit faster CPU....Air2 is still a good tablet, fast etc.

I am able to see a difference in real life putting them side by side, maybe it's not as pronounced in the video. However, I think you won't be bothered if you don't look at the screen in unusual angles

Should I buy iPad at Bestbuy? My iPad Air 2 died on the day the new iPad got released:( Bestbuy sells the 128g wifi iPad Air 2 at the price that is very similar to New iPad.

gaubonganvung First of all, ipad 2017 is not worse the the ipad air 2. Yes you have to give away the laminated screen but that's about it. With the new ipad you get the A9 Processor compared to the A8X In the air 2, which means everything is much more responsive and faster. You also get a 25% brighter and more vivid screen display and along with a bigger battery life. And with all those upgrades, this is a for sure deal for only $329 or even $429 for 128GB
@Long BuiThat is what I am curious about, Apple says that the processor in the new Ipad is A9 but iPad air 2 is A8X, I don't know if the difference would be very significant since it is not A9X. Thank you for the advice.

In doing normal things you are definetly going to notice a big difference in speed and performance. In low performance tasks like facebook, twitter, instagram you aren't going to notice much but it definetly will be 3 to 5 seconds faster. In gaming is where the ipad 2017 dominates the ipad air 2 because in some games like Nova, the ipad 2017 loads them like 10-15 seconds faster. Overall you will notice a big difference but that is not to say the ipad air 2 is slow because the ipad air 2 is still fast but it is getting slower as its 3 year old A8X chip is aging. So definetly buy the ipad 2017 if you don't want to be worried about your ipad getting old :) Both great devices though

I think it's better to get the new iPad if you have the 4th gen, unless you can find an Air 2 for similar or lower price than the new iPad as both will be a substantial upgrade

My conclusion is that if you are upgrading from the iPad Air 1 or earlier, go with the new one. If you have the Air 2, I don't think it's worthwhile upgrading
